Change Category:

My Hair Color

Want to make a slight change or choose a new shade? Your colorist can adjust your next custom formulation to fit your needs.

To leave a color comment for your colorist:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Adjust color" and confirm that you would like to adjust your color.
  3. Tell your colorist how you would like to adjust your formulation.
  4. Optional: Upload a photo of your current hair color for your colorist to review.
  5. Click "Send to Colorist".

You'll receive an email confirming receipt of your requested change. Before it ships, your colorist will review your comment and apply any changes.

To adjust the schedule for your plan:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Upcoming Order".
  3. Click the arrow underneath "Ship Date".
  4. Select the date you would like your order to bill and begin processing.

You may also opt to skip your upcoming order or change your plan frequency, as well as removing or skipping any individual products from your plan by selecting "edit" next to each product.

Light Set Clients:

To remove highlights in your next order:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Upcoming Order".
  3. Select "Edit" next to your Light Set Highlights. Select "Remove From Plan."

NOTE: Your frequency and processing date operate separately, so changing the frequency of your plan will not automatically update the processing date of your next order. Your new frequency will take effect after your next hair color order. Click here to learn how to change your delivery frequency.

To adjust the delivery frequency of your hair color:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Upcoming Order." .
  3. Click the arrow underneath "Color Frequency."
  4. Use the "+" and "-" icons to adjust to your desired frequency, and then click "Done."

Light Set Clients:

Light Set can be shipped with your Color Set or on its own. To adjust how often you would like your highlights to be sent with your base color:

  1. Under "Light Set Highlights," click your current frequency.
  2. In the dropdown menu, determine how often you would like your highlights to ship with your base color (e.g. every 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc., color shipment).

To adjust how often you would like your highlights to be sent on their own:

  1. Under "Light Set Highlights," click your current frequency.
  2. In the dropdown menu, determine how often you would like your highlights to ship.

NOTE: Your frequency and processing date operate separately, so changing the frequency of your plan will not automatically update the processing date of your next order. Your new frequency will take effect after your next hair color order.

To skip your next order:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Upcoming Order."
  3. Click on the arrow next to "Skip Order," and then click "Confirm".

NOTE: Skipping a hair color order will also skip any highlights or hair care products currently in your upcoming order.

Light Set Clients:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Upcoming Order."
  3. Select "Edit" next to your Light Set Highlights, then "Skip It."
  4. The date for your next highlights shipment will update automatically.

NOTE: Orders can only be skipped up until their ship date, located at the top of your Upcoming Order page.

If you would like to turn off your plan:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Upcoming Order."
  3. Click "Turn Off My Plan," located at the bottom left of your plan list. Follow the prompts.

NOTE: You will be prompted to either remove or continue to receive any items currently included in your plan.

To restart your autoship color plan, or order a single shipment of your color:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Order My Color," and follow the prompts.

Add as many products as you want to your plan as one-time additions or autoship them for 20% off. Plus, receive free shipping on orders over $42.

To add any product to your plan:

  1. Click Hair Products located in the top-left corner of the screen.
  2. Browse our products and click the product you wish to add to your plan.
  3. Under "Purchase Options," select how you would like to purchase the item. You can ship it immediately, add as one-time addition to your upcoming order, or autoship the item by adding it to your plan for 20% off.

NOTE: You can skip or remove any item in your plan by selecting "Upcoming Order" in your account and clicking on the "Edit" button next to the item.

To remove a one-time product from an upcoming order:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Upcoming Order."
  3. Click "Remove", underneath the product name in your order list.
  4. To remove an autoship product from an upcoming order:

    1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
    2. Select "Upcoming Order."
    3. Click "Edit" next to the product you wish to remove
    4. Select "Remove from plan".

Free shipping will be automatically applied to any one-time or autoship order subtotaling $42 or more. Products can be added to your upcoming order up until midnight before the order is set to ship. Your Upcoming Order page displays whether you have qualified for free shipping, or the amount that is required to reach the free ship threshold.

To view your Personalized Instructions online:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "Color Details."
  3. Click on your most recent order, then click on "Download Instructions", located in the Technique section.

NOTE: Instructions are only available to view/download after the order has shipped.

To view a video tutorial to your Light Set application:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "How To Videos" and view your video tutorials.

NOTE: The video tutorials will only be available after your first highlight order has shipped. Video tutorials for highlights are also available to watch on Color Mastery.

To minimize the risk of an allergic reaction, we strongly recommend following these precautions. Instructions on how to perform a skin allergy test are included in the Product Safety & Usage insert in your Kit. We've also included the instructions below:

  1. Clean an area the size of a quarter in the bend of your elbow with soap and water. Pat dry.
  2. Using a plastic utensil (not a metal utensil), mix a few drops of the hair color developer with a few drops of hair color in a plastic or glass container.
  3. Tightly (and immediately) recap the hair color and hair color developer bottles.
  4. Apply the mixture to the test area with a cotton swab or cotton ball.
  5. Let the test spot dry. Do not wash, cover, or disturb the area for 48 hours.
  6. Examine the test area periodically over the next 48 hours.

If you experience any reaction in or around the test area, such as redness, burning, swelling, or irritation, do not color your hair until you consult a doctor. You may also contact us within 30 days for a refund.

To preview your hair color results, we suggest you perform a strand test. Instructions on how to perform a strand test are included in the Product Safety & Usage insert. We've also included them here for your convenience:

HAIR COLOR STRAND TEST:

  1. Put on protective gloves.
  2. Choose a strand of hair to test. It's best to choose a strand that will not be clearly visible with your typical hairstyle.
  3. Separate the rest of your hair using plastic clips so that the strand does not touch the rest of the hair after the hair color is applied.
  4. Apply hair color to your chosen strand by following the process outlined in your personalized instructions. Using a plastic utensil and bowl (not metal), mix 1 teaspoon of hair color and 1.5 teaspoons of developer for the strand test. Tightly (and immediately) recap the hair color and hair color developer bottles.
  5. Wait 24 hours to make sure you are happy with the hair color results.
  6. If you are happy with the color, proceed to the full application as outlined in your personalized instructions. This should be done no more than 48 hours after the strand test is complete.

LIGHT SET STRAND TEST:

  1. Put on protective gloves.
  2. Choose a strand of hair to test. It's best to choose a strand that will not be clearly visible with your typical hair style. Most people are comfortable choosing a strand from the back of their head.
  3. Separate the rest of the hair from the strand using plastic clips so that the strand does not touch the rest of the hair after the lightener is applied
  4. Apply to your chosen strand by following the process outlined in your instructions. Using a plastic utensil and bowl (not metal), mix half teaspoon of lightener and 1 teaspoon of activator for the strand test. Tightly (and immediately) recap the activator bottle.
  5. Using enough toning mask to saturate the strand, apply and rinse as indicated in your instructions.
  6. If you are happy with the shade, proceed to the full application as outlined in your instructions within 48 hours.

If you wish, you can also change the size by calling our Color & Care team — they're more than happy to help out. For our Light Set, only one size is available at this time.
