All About eSalon

In early 2018, we refreshed our look to be truer to our unique spirit and passion. Because beyond color, we're a community of passionate folks working together to celebrate individuality—which is pretty unique. Now, our clients can enjoy simplified, memorable product names, a reorganized shop experience, and our refreshed website. Our evolution has already begun, but you'll continue to see updates throughout 2019 as we introduce these changes over time. Read more about our brand refresh.

We simplified our product names to make them easier to remember and easier to understand what they do, while still making them fun and cheeky. Check out our Product Map, which shows the new product names and what they were previously called.

These changes will continue to update throughout 2019. If you have products on your Plan, you may continue to receive products with their previous name and packaging for some time.

No two people are the same. That's why we craft home hair color from scratch so folks can stand out, instead of finding a match so they can fit in. Never premixed or premade, each custom color is made by a personal colorist, with every facet of your experience designed specifically for you—from having your color individually dispensed and labeled, to giving you Personalized Instructions to achieve your specific color goal. And your experience doesn't stop after you receive your color—a colorist is available to help guide you every step of the way.

It's simple! First, you create a profile and tell us all about your hair history and ultimate color goal—add a pic of your current look to go the extra mile. Second, a personal colorist crafts your color factoring in everything from your features to your hair type. Last, your Color Set will ship to your door along with step-by-step personalized instructions and everything you need to color at home.

Our extensive team of professional, licensed colorists hail from critically-acclaimed salons and beauty institutes. They individually review your profile, craft your color, and are available to call when you need extra guidance. Plus, they don't just say goodbye after your color ships. They stick by your side throughout your color journey— checking in, offering guidance, and making sure you're tickled (insert color here).

Every eSalon hair color order includes Personalized Instructions unique to your custom color. They include a detailed explanation of how to apply your color at home and are selected specifically by your colorist to achieve your current color goal. That means they may change from order to order, so it's super important to read them carefully before applying your color. Common missteps such as leaving the color on longer than instructed or washing the color out before it has fully processed can result in a look you might not have been going for. So read 'em, read 'em, read 'em—every time you color.

Color Pricing

  • Try your first Custom Color Set order for just $10.
  • After your first order, receive a single shipment of your custom hair color for $25.
  • Add your Color Set to a recurring plan to receive 20% every order.

Plan Orders

  • Create a plan by adding any eSalon item you would like to autoship on a regular basis. You set the ship frequency, then we deliver your plan items direct to your door. You're free to add, skip, or cancel any item in your plan.
  • Add as few or as many items to your plan as you'd like and receive 20% off all items in your plan. Plus get free shipping on orders over $40.

eSalon accepts Visa, Discover, MasterCard and American Express. All purchases are subject to bank authorization prior to processing. Only authorized purchases will be processed and shipped.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept CODs, PayPal, personal checks or money orders as payment.

To redeem a gift card:

  1. Log in and go to My Account in the upper-right corner of the screen. On mobile, this menu will be found at the top left of the screen.

If you are in the U.S., please allow 6 business days after shipment for your order to arrive to you. In Canada, the United Kingdom or the European Union, your delivery may take a full 12 business days from the day of shipment.

If your shipping time has been longer than this, please let us know here and we will be happy to send you a replacement. To help us process your reshipment as quickly as possible, please reference your order number, which you can find within your Order History or your order confirmation email.

Here are a few key things to know before you arrive:

  • Please arrive with dry, unwashed hair.
  • We do not accept cash payments. However, we do accept all major credit cards.
  • All costs are included, so no need to add gratuity.

At your Color Studio Service, we can help you achieve the following hair color goals:

  • All-over color
  • Balayage highlights
  • All-over color & balayage highlights
  • Root touch-ups for clients with all-over color
  • Root touch-ups for clients with color and highlights
  • Cover existing highlights or ombre, depending on color and regrowth

Though we are able to service clients with a wide range of both color-treated hair and natural hair, there are certain circumstances where we may be unable to provide an effective color service. We are unable to color your hair if you:

  • Want an ombre
  • Have bleached hair
  • Wish to lighten your hair
  • Wish to correct an existing hair color
  • Have extensions
  • Currently have henna or any henna remaining in your hair
  • Have dreadlocks
  • Want a "fashion shade" or want to cover a "fashion shade" (a colorful shade that is not within our natural-color formula offering)
  • Have severely damaged or over-processed hair

Cancellation Policy:

We understand, life happens. If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible or call (310) 945-4670 at least 24 hours in advance.

Late Policy:

In order to avoid any scheduling issues we ask that you please arrive 5 minutes prior to your appointment to allow for check-in. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we may need to reschedule your service for another day.

Pet Policy:

eSalon has a no-pets policy with the exception of certified service dogs wearing an official vest and tag.

Note: your Order Code is a valid one time only and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.

Your Precision Match Wheel photo helps accurately identify your current hair color. Your colorist uses this to ensure they're crafting the best color for you—whether you want to stick with your current look or try a brand new shade.

Here's how to snap a picture for the Precision Match Wheel:

  • Find good lighting.
  • Hold the Precision Match Wheel below your chin as shown.
  • Snap your selfie, making sure that the photo is clear and in focus.
  • Upload the photo to your profile when prompted.

If you're an existing client and already purchased a Starter Kit, enter your Order Code on and we'll apply credit toward your next hair color order.

Right now, the Starter Kit Order Code is only valid for clients in the United States. We hope to have a version for our international clients in the future.

At this time, the Starter Kit Order Code is only valid for our home Custom Color Set, not towards Color Studio appointments.
