Nice color, too bad it didn't last...I was very happy with the results of my color and also with everything that came with the kit. The main reason why I tried eSalon Color was in hopes of having better results covering my grays. It covered them initially, but within about 10 days, the grays were showing again. They weren't showing at the roots in new growth, it was like the color faded from the gray hair throughout my hair. For someone who doesn't need gray coverage, this color would be great. Not For MeOkay, I tried the product. The color was, I have to admit, fabulous. HOWEVER, when I wash my hair, it feels funky. It feels like there is cake-y type of goo on it. It's never been that way. I have fine, straight hair. It's still like this. I am going to have to go to a professional and have them take the color out, which I am hesitant to do because I don't want to cause any more damage to it. Brown not as expectedThank you for making the adjustments I requested. I love purple and wanted it to show. However, dark brown is much too dark for me. Burned scalp severely & left thick waxy residuecolor OK but thick waxy residue that will not rinse out is not. The pain was excruciating when this stuff touched my scalp. No Color Change, Waste of MoneyI wanted a light strawberry blonde. As a natural redhead I feel the dye only slightly lightened my hair. It is completely unnoticeable like I did not die my hair at all. I had previously watched a lot of YouTube videos and was super excited to try this product. Meh.........I loved the idea of customized color. Sadly it didn't live up to my expectations. I thought that by getting the violet color in the brown color section that I would have beautiful dark purple hair. Not even close.....My hair is now dark brown. There isn't even a hint of purple. AWFUL!The root color was darker than I asked for, but I could live with that. The "ends" color turned to glue in the shower and would not wash out! I shampooed my hair FOUR TIMES and it's STILL not out! The color on the ends turned out a greenish blackish color (when I asked for blonde with red undertones)! Seriously, what is IN this stuff?! SO disappointedI was hoping to give up the expensive salon trips and do my own color at home. I had recently transitioned from single process to balayage and loved the results. I didn't love the grey hairs so I figured I would give esalon a go. I hate the color they formulated and the greys are still visible. Too Dark!!!I am 60 years old, I don't want my hair to be as black as Elvis and my first shipment was too, too dark. I typed a message and asked for the second shipping of the color to be a lighter brown with blonde highlights if possible, and no red. Great color, doesn't cover grayI love color and the way the product makes my hair feel, but I'll probably need to be canceling my subscription. The color doesn't cover stubborn gray on my hairline in particular and when I complained about it I was told to darken the color. Well, I don't want a darker color, just something to cover the gray as I used to be able to do with Wella or with my stylist. Wish this had worked out and that the answer to my question was something better than change your color to cover gray! My package never cameOkay it's on the 5th day asking United state post office to delivery my item. They keep giving me confirmation for redelivery still not here!! Promised a purple tint. NO tink at allI wanted at least a purple tint...and I even talked to color specialist to make sure that a purple tint was possible. So I want my brown hair changed to an ombre color. As bright and purple as you can on the top. I want the bottom to be a light purple. So I don't want any other dyes. Why won't it work on white hair?The first time I tried e-salon it seemed to do a little better than what I was using. However, my white hairs started showing within about 2-3 weeks. The second time they showed through within 1 week. Are these white hairs just unable to be dyed? Must be, because even my old dye lasted longer than 2 washes. Tried so many formulasI have been trying for almost 2 years to get the perfect formula, with grey coverage. My coverage is not even a a lot of grey. I was even recommended to try grey magic with this color and that didn't help. I use sulfate free shampoo for color and still withing a week the color is not sticking to the greys. Med Brown GoldIt is darker than I expected for Med Brown and it wasn't really golden in home light, more auburn. It does look better outside, and my husband says it's fine, but it seems too dark to me. Used exactly as directed, didn't work.I used the product exactly as directed, taking my time to read the directions thoroughly, mixing the color correctly, separating my hair as indicated, etc. etc. I applied color and set my timer after I was done as per the instructions. Rinsed the color out using the provided shampoo and...damn! It simply didn't color my roots. All that prep and time, for no change! I've never had trouble with home hair color not working before -- even temporary color. Not sure if this product wasn't designed to cover greys at all? Great color, but 1 big issueThe custom color shade was good. The big issue for me was the way my hair felt after coloring. I followed the instructions down to the last letter-but it left my hair feeling over processed and damaged. My hair usually feels especially silky and looking great after coloring it. Not the color I expected.I really like the idea behind this service! As for my first experience, I requested a color that was a little more red. I received an email that a different color was suggested for me so I figured I would give it a try. Once I did though, I got a color that was a bit less red than I wanted and more of a purple :-( I love the gray coverage of this dye. Too darkI was super excited about trying this product especially after reading all the reviews...I didn't like the smell at first...and i just kept going. I jist did my roots and liked how smooth it went on...but then i noticed it was turning really dark really fast...before the 20 mins. So I washed it out. My hair look like its black now...not brown. Custom hair colorThis is my first negative review. Yet again, the light to medium shade was too dark. I can live with that. Ok, fast forward to when I rinse out the dye. I was in the shower, had rinsed until clear. At that time, I noticed a lot of suds in my hair. Spent the next 15 minutes trying to get the gunk out-no luck. After another 1/2 hr using the sprayer in the kitchen sink with my husband's help, I was still left with some gunk. I like the shampoo you send for color treated hair; could you send an extra one?I am sorry, but I have decided not to use esalon hair color on my hair anymore. The reason is because it is drying out my hair and I have to condition it more often than I did when using different semi-permanent hair color. Dull RootsUnfortunately, my root color seem lackluster in comparison to the color provided for my ends. The ends had a wonderful coppery reddish brown hue, while my roots had little copper red tones. False PromisesThere is nothing "custom" or "personal" about this product or company. You answer some questions about your hair, send in a picture and they send you the product in the mail along with a string of automated emails that are about as impersonal as you can get. You never talk to a human being and they never actually see your hair in person. Believe me-- you are better off going to a local salon where a real person can run their fingers through your hair and give you professional advice on color and other services/products. 3 of 6 people found this review helpful.
