The color is absolutely perfectI love the product; esalon colorists have matched my "before-gray" beautifully. But the instructions leave a lot to be desired. No reason is given for different instructions--apparently I'm supposed to spend $20 to color just my roots, now that I've been using esalon for a year. Nice colorI really like my color and it is easy to change when I want a bit more red or want to go more brunette. My only complaint is that it is so difficult to get off of the scalp. Easy to work with - phenomenal resultsI am not a hair person! I just don't know how to do all that stuff but I'm telling you this was almost as easy as washing your hair, the results though were well beyond what I had ever expected, my Daughter who does know what she's doing had dyed my hair red I didn't want to do the upkeep of it so wanted to go back brown, well I've done this before at the salon and it's never easy because they can't take you from red back to brown in one process. Well shame on them because eSalon took me there no problem! I have a lot of grey now that I did not have then as well. I recommend this very much. Left on too long?The instructions caused my stylist to leave the color on for what I believe is an extra 15 minutes. She paused after the first 15 minutes to work on another customer, left my color on for 15 minutes, then mixed the developer and put the color on for another 15 minutes. I read the instructions to mean NO additional 15 minutes in the middle: 20 minutes for the first bottle, which included 5 minutes to mix the second bottle with its developer, and then immediate application of the second bottle for 15 minutes. Inconsistent mixture and resultsThe colorist does not seem to be able to follow the proportion to mix my color and I am getting poor results. She either mixes it incorrectly and it does not take properly (too light and grey showing through) or i get really incorrect tint results. I currently have bright pink roots and look ridiculous . My color is supposed to be dark chocolate brown I want to cry because i will have to leave the house tomorrow with the terrible results i got from coloring my hair this evening. I guess I am wearing a hat and being humiliated all day. Be more careful Sylvia. Never again!My last experience was a disaster! While applying the color to my hair ,I noticed that the bottle was warmer than usual. I continued to apply ,then I realized that the bottle got really hot ! I rinsed off the product immediately for at least 30 minutes with cold water. My scalp and ears turned bright red. Greys turned blonde. Ordered brunette hair colour!I’ve got a lot of grey hair around the frame of my face. I’m a brunette and ordered full coverage hair colour according to the numbers my hair dresser supplied. The result was ridiculous. All greys turned platinum blonde. The rest was dark brown. Black instead of dark brownReally disappointed by this colour. I was at first really excited to use it as it seems so luxury compared to a bog standard box colour. Whilst washing it out I seemed to lose a lot of hair. I needed to clean the plug hole out twice to let the water out. My hair is now a mixture of jet black and stripey dark brown. I'm desperately trying to lighten it now with head and shoulders every day. I feel like I'm wearing a black hat. The hair that is black looks really course now. Worth a tryThis color is decent hair color, it does the job however I do wish the customization was more customized towards each individual customers wants & needs instead of using the same formulas. I do like that you receive your gloves, brush and everything you need to color your hair one thing I would maybe suggest is making the conditioner a little larger so you can follow up to condition again the color is a tiny bit drying. Worst hair color I ever hadI ordered blue black, it was written blu black, but actually it is dark brown. I requested specifically that I don't want the color to bleed with every wash and this color bleeds woth every wash. Moreover, this made my hair so hard and rough. I was disappointed!!!I just used my kit and for the first time, I’m very disappointed in the coverage. Your product did not cover my grey roots and the colour was very dull. Disappointing!I ordered the bright copper and was excited regarding the product as it had good reviews in comparison to shop box dies. The packaging and content was great, nicely packaged and cute little shampoos and conditioner and even a stain remover and guard. The product in itself was bang average. I have a lot of grey to cover which i noted on ordering. The colour didn't even last 4 washes on my roots and they grey came back through very quickly leaving me with a glarey root and darker ends. I am outside a lot for my job and the sun bleaches the red so I wanted to stay with the lightened look but unfortunately it looks exactly like my last hair colour. Roots not the sameMy kit came with 1 color for my hard to cover gray and another for the rest of my hair. I followed the directions to a T. Now my roots look orange and the rest is dark brown. AS OF 7-15-25, I have never spoken to anyone regarding my roots turning orange. My husband ordered a second supply of hair color within one or two days of my original order because I was worried that there might not be enough color for my hair. I still have orange roots. I am unfortunately for the first time in my life going to pay my cosmetician to fix my hair color. I'm very disappointed with the product and I'm discouraged because of what I paid for the product. Too dark and did not listen to my needsAfter several emails including photos, the color was way too dark. It was a deeply saturated dark color without dimension. It was not flattering and was not what I expected from a custom hair color online service. I paid for 2 colors and I think they sent 2 complimentary to try to get the color right, but it just didn’t work out for me. I appreciate their help, but just way too dark and now I need to buy a color remover to start over myself, as my salon would charge me over $100 for correcting the color. Color not close to color chosenThe color I chose was supposed to be the result of what it would look like from my natural hair color. My hair came out a bright fake looking red at the roots and darker on the bottom. The color I chose said the makeup of color was only a small amount of red and was supposed to give me an auburn undertone. Unfortunately this didn't happen. I did email customer service and was told I could get a credit and try with. another color but I don't feel comfortable with that as they couldn't get it right the first time. What a waste of time and moneyOrdered a custom color after researching and reading reviews as I wanted my hair two shades lighter. I was super excited when it came in, did a strand test and didn’t notice any difference but figured maybe it was just too small of a piece. Did my entire head, and my hair is darker than it started. And now I can’t lighten it as now it’s been permanently dyed and lightening with color only works on virgin hair. Would have to bleach it now and can’t do that for weeks either. Fades and low coverageWhen new on the colour is perfect, but it fades after only a few washes. Demi permanent-soft blackI absolutely loved all the packaging, the custom shade was great, but this was my first time using a demi permanent, so maybe im just unsure of how long a demi should last, but the very first time I washed my hair, 3 days after colouring, I was almost back to the colour my hair was before coloring. I used the rest of the shampoo/conditioner that came with my kit, and only used mildly warm water. By the 2nd shampoo, the colour was completely gone from my hair. Extremely disappointedI have been getting ready for a 2600-mile road trip to attend a huge family gathering with my family that I have not seen in years, recently I've been struggling with my hair since after 15 years of dying it black I decided to work my way back to my naturally platinum blonde hair and of course in that process I've managed to really screw up my once beautiful hair. I wanted to look presentable on this trip, so I turned to my browser for advice and ideas on what to do with my hair to make it better when I came across this website and after reading the details and taking the quiz, I had hope for my lifeless dull hair and then my package arrived in such poor condition I was actually in tears. One of the developer bottles had leaked out all over everything, the bottle looked as if it had been squeezed very hard yet it appeared to be unopened. The instructions were ruined by this and they were so stuck together it almost took ripping it in order to unfold it. Two different coloursI got my new box and only had time to color my hair now. I received two different colours, one red and one brown. Unfortunately I only picked it up a bit to late and started with the red. My grey roots is now an orange red colour while the rest of my hair is dark brown!!! This is an unreliable product and unsatisfactory serviceI have a 6 months customer history with eSalon, time in which I was in awe of them (at start) only to be let down by both quality of product (had dye sets not covering grays) and service (unanswered outreach, delays in order processing and delivery). I have just cancelled my order and subsctiption because of delays in both order processing and shipping. I am so disappointed!
