Like GlueI was very excited to try this hair colour after the many good reviews. Application was easy, it didn’t irritate my sensitive scalp and it didn’t have a strong chemical odour. Then came the time to rinse. I have coloured my own hair for years and have never experienced what happened. If I had seen a similar review before trying, I am not sure I would have. I rinsed and rinsed and it felt like my hair was caked in gel or glue. I could bend it and it stayed bent. The water was running clear but it was clearly not out. So I used the shampoo provided three times before I felt like it was liveable. This took more than 30 minutes of scrubbing in the shower. Now I do love the colour, maybe a little dark but grey is covered better than some products I have used. Disappointed 😔We moved to a new area and I need color every 4 weeks and am hesitant about stylists that I don’t know. I figured I give this a try. I received my first box two days ago and was very excited. Yesterday I took a deep breath and said here goes nothing. Before ordering I told my “colorist” my exact products and colors my salon used and toners because I have highlights. I followed the directions precisely. I was worried because I have such dark hair bright white roots that the color provided wouldn’t do the trick, alas, I was right. I now have hot roots, my roots are lighter and a stark contrast to what color my hair is. It DOES NOT cover gray/white completely at all!!! Secondly, my husband was more scared with the amount of hair that fell out on to my shower floor a bit smaller than a tennis ball. It’s done I can’t go back. I need to fix it but am afraid that I will loose even more hair. Please be careful. In my sales profession, my appearance is the first thing that customers see and judge. Not the color I had beforeFirst and second time I went into Esalon I left with the biggest smile on my face because my hair was bright red just the way I wanted it. Third time my hair looked dark and i told her not to change a thing. In July I did my first mail order and explain that I wanted my hair like the first and second time. Well my kit arrived and I went to color my hair only to be disappointed again. Even darker. I just received my new kit which was sent on August 31 and it’s just sitting there because I don’t know if my hair will get darker again. what amazing customer service!!First off I really want to talk about the customer service, they are so nice and professional and heed to your needs! The first box I ordered never came and ESalon team was so sweet to send me another box free of charge! I'm adding a star just for them! For the color I'm going to make a pros and cons list Pros: 1. Box came fairly quick (within three days) 2. They give you personalized instructions based on your needs, and provide a lot of other things that help with the entire process, I wasn't expecting this much stuff to come along with the color. 4. There is definitely a lot of product! I only needed roots but the amount given could have covered my entire head of hair and still have left over amount. 5. The shampoo and conditioner smell AMAZING! Cons: 1. The smell, I'm not sure if all hair color smells this way but it definitely smelled like chemicals which is something my salon usually doesn't smell like (which is understandable there are so many things done at a salon maybe the smell gets masked) so I was a bit taken aback. At first I was worried about the color because of how strong the smell was and I was worried I was going to get a scalp reaction. 2. There was A LOT left over, which is nice that there is a lot of product but a lot also gets wasted. I wish they could give some sort of ratio so we could use as much as we need and not waste more than half the bottle. I had about 3/4 left over color after coloring my roots. 3. The color is REALLY hard to wash out! I had a hard time getting it all out of my hair, it felt pretty gunky and I had to shampoo thrice to get it out. 4. The color was a bit drying to my roots, which is not something I experience when I get it done at the salon. Edit: I'm not sure what happened whether it was the color or conditioner but something left a residue in my hair that even after two washes has still not come out. Hair Loss!I have used this color for over a year, and in the process have lost over 50% of my hair. I was excited about how well the color matched the Soft Black shade of my natural hair, and compared it to the savings of getting my hair colored at a Salon - and the combination was a win-win! However after a year of constant hair loss, I realized that I should have moved on a while ago. Once I connected the fact that it could be the hair color from e-Salon, I made a change and since using an alternate product my hair loss is minimal. Gave me exactly the OPPOSITE OF WHAT I ASKED FOR!The kit is beautiful. It arrived super quickly. The shampoo has left my hair in a lovely condition. HOWEVER: I specifically asked for my hair to have NO (and I did state this very clear NO BRASSY TONES) And I am left with hair that is basically strawberry blond. Just in case the colourists don't understand the word brassy here are some other words; ginger, copper, light red. I DO NOT WANT MY HAIR TO BE ANY OF THE ABOVE COLOURS I ASKED SPECIFICALLY FOR BLOND WITH NO NO NO BRASS. I followed the instructions to a T and timed to a second. I am hugely disappointed. Hair colorIt was a lot darker than I wanted. Normally a light brown is perfect for me. Also, it stained my head for over a week. Really noticeable where I part my hair. Nice, easy to apply color, a bit goopy to wash-outI've been coloring my hair with eSalon for about a year now, maybe a bit more. My color comes out consistent every time now that I'm using eSalon and I love that I was able to custom mix the color. It also covers most of my gray (I'm ~75% prematurely gray), but leaves a few for a more natural look. Everyone thinks it is my natural color. I used to buy whatever grocery store color/brand was close enough to my hair color, but it was never consistent. I also got tired of wasting so much coloring solution every time. Now, I use half of the solution each time I do my roots every 5 weeks or so, and mix it in the mixing bowl and apply it with the applicator brush that I bought from eSalon. So really, for my medium-length hair, I get two-for-one uses out of each order. And the color comes out great for someone doing it at home! (I still have a salon color specialist do my hair at least once a year as a nice treat.) But, not everything is perfect. I sort of dread having to color my hair and it's partly due to the product. It takes forever to rinse out and requires good shampoo. I don't know what it is that eSalon adds to their coloring solution - some kind of oil(s)? - but it takes at least 3 washes to get all of it out and make it so my hair isn't greasy or really weighed down. I have had to re-wash my hair after starting to style it and there have been times when I've been able to "wipe" color out of my hair with a cotton ball after multiple washes and drying. My hair is medium course and somewhat porous, but I have never had this happen with store-bought color or at a professional salon. My hair is kind of dry instead of greasy - I can go up to 4 days without washing. High quality dye, insanely strong smell, slightly off colorI tried out eSalon on a whim and I absolutely love the fact my hair actually took the dye. I have had a lot of trouble getting my hair to take dye before so I am very happy with how well the dye took. However, the color I chose, darkest black - ash, just turned out a matte black color. I was really looking for a raven blue black color, where it looks black but in bright light it is a brilliant blue color. The process of dying my hair was pretty simple. My hair goes beyond my shoulders so I had to use two bottles to get full coverage. The dye itself has an insanely strong smell and caused my eyes to water terribly. I couldn't hold my hair out in front of my face to see if I had covered the ends due to the strong smell. Instead I had to do everything behind my head and even then I was teary throughout the application. I strongly advise to use this dye outside or somewhere very well ventilated, a bathroom fan will not suffice. Washing out the dye will take quite a while as well, but it is worth the effort. Red/Pink HairApparently my last few orders were sent out wrong because I now have reddish pink hair and it's supposed to be a rich mahogany with a slightly Auburn tint!!! I've contacted Karen at esalon... she is very helpful and immediately saw the problem and is in the process of getting it corrected for me...I can't say enough positive things about how Karen has handled this whole situation!!! Didn't workI was so excited to try this . I got it today and went right in to use it. I don't even know if it dyed my hair. My roots are the exact same color as they were before. Overall, great product But wrong colorMy hair is somewhere between thier last blonde shade and thier lightest brunette. Its a very dirty blonde that has gotten darker over the years. I chose a cool toned lighter shade of blonde. Spoke with a nice lady over the phone. We disscussed the shade i picked wouldnt turn as light as i wanted, so we chose a medium blonde. I explained i turn brassy so she added some ash. Product came in 3 days so shipping was great. Package was damaged (i assume from delivery service), but contents were fine. Strand test was odd. Followed the directions exactly as end result was nearly no different than my color. Emailed customer service, havent heard back. Stupidly, After not hearing back i decided to just go for it. I figured what the heck, if anything would give me a shiny, even color. Well, it did lighten my hair a few shades. My hair feels moisturized and healthy. But my color... the ends turned out a nice blonde but the furthur you go up i am a strawberry color. My roots are pulling the most. I mean, i guess ill live. Wrong hair color but excellent customer service3/15/2018- Update: The customer service from esalon has been exceptional. They have been very responsive and have worked with me to find a resolution in a very professional manner. I very much appreciate and value that kind of customer service. (Original post) I wanted to try this product to 're-set' my hair to it's natural color. My color was supposed to be a dark mahogany brown. Instead, my is orangy red! I am going to have to spend quite a bit of money to correct the color at a salon (which is what I didn't want to do in the first place!) I will say, the customer service person I spoke with was excellent, however, he did confirm that they had recently had bottles mixed up and it looked like I was one of the one's who was affected. I AM SO SORRY i TRIED THIS PRODUCT. 2.8.2018- Following up- I did speak with a customer service agent originally and he stated he would talk to his manager to see 'what they could do' and at the very least, would refund the money I paid for the product. Didn’t cover greysI’m a natural redhead and used the dark blonde copper golden. It was very hard to wash out, but I managed it. It didn’t cover any of my grey roots at the hairline. I did have major hot roots. Maybe I need a darker color but my next option is a light brown copper. My hair tends to grab brown so I’m unsure how to proceed. The technique was great. Guess my hair is too darkFirst off, I am very pleased with the quality of product I receive. My hair is healthy and shiny and doesn't look damaged and dry like it has in the past from using store bought color. So this is a huge plus for me. The color is nice and rich and coverage is great. My complaint may not be able to be addressed I'm afraid. I really want a purple hue to my hair color. (especially when the light hits it) I was really excited when I saw the color combination this time as the second bottle was 100% violet. Unfortunately, it just made my hair look almost black or just a really dark brown. Nor I or anyone else I have asked can see any hint of purple anywhere. I even got the Purple Tinted Love product and it did nothing. So I rated it three stars. Not enough shampoo and conditionerAlright, so I just colored my hair and I have mixed reviews about it. I was truly excited to color my hair all one color since I had been highlighting it for about 3 years and wanted to give my hair a break. I picked out a nice color and followed the directions to the T. Once I was going to rinse my hair, I felt my hair a little stiff and thought maybe it’s all the hair color. First I gave it that shine boost by using the color bottle and filling it up with water. I massaged all that to my hair for 3 minutes and then proceeded to washing and conditioning. I rinsed my hair as much as possible until the water came out clear but I still felt my hair real stiff and with hair color still in it. I went ahead and shampooed with the shampoo provided but that did not lather at all but I still used it anyway. I then conditioned my hair with what you all provided but I still felt my hair stiff. I finished and rinsed it off. Well, right now my hair is air drying and I run my fingers through my hair and it feels like I still have color in my hair. I have this residue on my hands and I think I might need to wash my hair again but with my shampoo. I just wish you all would provide enough shampoo and conditioner for at least two washes and my color looks darker than what I had selected. I even sent pics of my current hair color before coloring so the colorist would pick a nice color. Not like it used to be...I have never used another hair color ever. I was really nervous to start coloring. I signed up with esalon and the boxes started coming...and I was still too nervous...and so the boxes piled up. I finally dyed for the first time and loved it! I loved it many times over but the last several times I have I haven't loved it. It's nearly impossible to rinse out of your hair. No matter how much I shampoo and think I have it out, when I start to dry my hair it's a sticky greasy kind of mess...and so I shampoo again...and again. The last 3 times I've dyed my hair it has been that way and I hate it..who has time for that! Not sure what changed but I am going to start looking elsewhere. Overall Good Quality Product!Despite my color not fully turning out to what I had stated in my color goal, or in the photo of what this color is supposed to turn out with on my natural color- I still would say the dye itself is good quality! My new color still looks than it did before I used the product! Considering it was my first time purchase, I anticiapted some tweaks might be needed for my next order. Never again!I did a lot of research on this company and a competitor before I decided to go with Esalon. Big mistake. I can't wash out the color from my scalp, sections of my hair and roots look black when I ordered dark chocolate. My hair is naturally curly and so dry unlike any color I have ever used both colored by myself and in salon. It's taken two coconut oil masks to get any moisture in it and I still am rinsing color out with 5 washes. Followed directions to a T. Thank God it's around Halloween so I can pass it off as part of my costume since my hair is so fried I can't do another color without further damaging my hair. Never again! Not even closeI went with a copper blonde color. The picture of the color i choose showed an almost ginger kind of color. My hair had been previously bleached and I included this in my consultation. When I received my color in the mail I was really excited and immediately began the process... The color was nothing, not even a little bit close, to what I was expecting from my consultation. My hair turned out to be a purplish/slight rose gold color (this is the best way I can describe it). Not a great experience for me!Ok, so first off I love esalon's hair products. I have never had an issue before now. I sent a picture, added that I wanted to go darker than my natural color with some lighter toned highlights, which i was prepared for highlights to not be apart of my kit, and get rid of old dye. However, what i put in my hair was NOT darker than my natural color. They sent two bottles, one for roots and one for ends. I followed instructions and procedures accordingly. About halfway through I started to realize the areas covered were lighter than my roots. I finished the process anyway because i didnt want half done hair. Needless to say my hair turned out about 2 shades light, WHICH IS NOT AT ALL WHAT I WANTED. I am not happy with the color at all. I hate writing bad reviews, but I just not a happy camper about this. I would much rather have my color fixed than a refund. -Update- 10/09/17 This is why I love esalon, they contacted me in regards to my hair, corrected the color adjustment and is sending me 🤞🏽The color I wanted. Just making an effort to fix a mistake isn’t good enough, but to fix it with courtesy, not charge me for it, and give the option of fast shipping is what a good business is all about. Won't do it againFirst let me start with the positive. The customer service is great. They are responsive, helpful, and very polite. Also, the color (so far) is nice and is the exact color I requested. The bad.... I filled out my profile explaining that it had been a couple of months since my last full color and also stating that I have very long, very thick hair with stubborn grays. They sent me one bottle for roots. This is when I contacted them and they were very helpful and sent me enough to do all of my hair without charging me extra. I really appreciated that. I colored my hair this morning and it was just like using any home product. Put it in, wait, and rinse/wash/condition. Well... trying to rinse this stuff out is a nightmare. It's so very waxy feeling. My hair felt like it was totally coated in wax and my hands felt waxy too. And they send one tiny packet of shampoo and conditioner. Again, I have really long, thick hair. This wasn't near enough. I had to wash my hair several times to get it to feel soft. Now my hair is really dry and hard to brush as it breaks off, but the color is good. I will wait to see how long it lasts before it fades. I will be sticking with the store brand. I was really excited to try this and I am equally as disappointed. The process and applications was great but color was wrongI loved the package and the quick time frame on which it was delivered. Directions were easy to understand and the personal touches were nice as well. Everything I needed was there. The application was easy for a DIY product and not a lot of mess. As I started putting the color in after a while I noticed it wasn't lightening as I expected. The color in the bottle looked good before and after mixing. My only complaint is that I didn't get the color I wanted or expected which I wouldn't say is a big deal based off everything else but that was the purpose for the purchase. I would rate a 5 If I got the right color or if I felt that the picture I included and the notations to my stylist were really taken into consideration before shipping my product. Overall my hair feels healthy, looks healthy and I loved the shampoo, conditioner, brush, stain remover and even the protective gel smelled great. Love the color but...I love the color into my hair, it did really covers my gray hair but the issue here was... my hair is very stiff and dry after dying. The good and the badI'll start with the positives-- I loved having a stylist custom design my hair color for me. The packing was beautiful (and personalized-- so very fun!) and shipping was extremely convenient. The price was right for at-home color that promised salon results. My color did end up matching its promised shade (dark ash brown), so I was pleased with the outcome. Normally, any dark hair dye immediately turns my hair black, but that was not the case with this product. Additionally, my color was multi dimensional and left my hair with a nice shine. However, this is the strongest smelling dye I have ever used. I could barely breathe while waiting for it to dry because the chemical smell was so overwhelming. Additionally, it really dried out both my hair and my scalp; this does not normally happen to me with boxed color or at the salon. While the color was a perfect match to the promised shade, it quickly washed out and faded-- so much so that you can no longer tell that I ever dyed it. I was disappointed with the lack of longevity and the dryness that resulted from this color, especially when compared to other boxed dyes. Overall, I don't regret this purchase as it did provide about 2 weeks of lovely color. Custom hair colorI have never used color from box at Walgreens or Target so I cannot really compare. Instructions were clear and very easy to use. Nice colour WRONG shadeI really wanted a change so deep violet purple it was to be. Only this time I knew I also wanted to try eSalon for a better colour and condition after colouring my hair. I knew I was taking a big leap from washy red to the vibrant violet purple I had picked out, but was ok with it as I'm a ex~hairdresser. Colour day arrived looks good mixing it, looks deeper when on but you can't tell when it's wet!! TADAHHHHH!!! OH! NOT the colour I'd picked out, not the lush vibrant violet purple I'd paid for but dark brown with a 'hint' of purple.....GUTTED!!! I was that disappointed I just dried my long hair and tied it up! My hubby was 'let's look then' as it was him that had treated me (paid) "I thought it was going to be purple not brown!" an that was outside in the daylight were it should have been lush and bright.....NO BROWN!!! So! What do I do now? Trust eSalon again and pay another £16-? Or go back the the dye in a box from the super market??? So eSalon......Whdt do I do now? Custom colorThe color is OK, just slightly lighter and more coppery than my usuall. It seemed to leave my hair drier than other brands; in fact my hair looked much smoother and shinier after the next washing, when I was using my usual shampoo/conditioner. I was sent one color for my roots, and another "glaze " for the rest of my hair. The instructions for the second color warned to apply below the root application so that the color didn't get too dark, although overall, both seemed to lighten my hair. I'm also concerned that the next delivery is only the color for the roots, and I don't know how long the copper glaze on the rest of my hair can be expected to last. One last thing (and since it didn't even work well, I feel silly complaining) - most commercial colors come with enough conditioner that I can use it every week nearly until it's time to color again. Not satisfiedThis was my first attempt at coloring my hair and I must say that I was not impressed. I was attempting to lighten my hair to a more natural copper red. The entire process was simple enough but the end results were not what I expected. Directions were very well written and simple to understand. Loved the pictures and how the entire kit was set up. Hair color that left my hair dryI have never had a hair color tangle my hair and make it so dry that I was forced to get it deep conditioned. The product arrived on time and after I followed the directions to a tee the entire back of my hair is red at the scalp and black on the top. Lucky for me I can cover it up because of the length of my hair. It took both bottles to cover my entire head. It took me an hour to get my hair rinsed and shampoo didn't work. My hair was left with a dry feeling, no shine, my husband complained of the smell. I will be going back to Sally's Beauty Supply next time for hair color. Being a mom, nothing is ever JUST for me...until this wonderful package arrived!First off, I honestly have no idea how I found out about this. I was on my phone on Facebook or instagram( or maybe Snapchat...? Idk.) and came across it and instantly fell in love. Read pages of reviews.. next day, my order was in! I got so excited when I read the email late that night saying my package was delivered into my mailbox earlier! So I ran to the mailbox in the dark. Obviously I was beyond happy to receive something that was literally JUST FOR ME! I had to wait a few days to actually dye my hair since I just straightened it the night before I received my product. Overall, the process was fairly easy. I only had to use one item that was not in the package, a plastic bowl to do the "dip and apply". Thanks to the protectant for my skin, I did not have to scrub like crazy to get any dye off my Face or neck. It wiped off like butter! Although my legs somehow are covered in dye splatter. But as I began to rinse and wash, I felt my hair getting thicker! There was this super thick/gross/slimy residue that was ALLLLL over. I couldn't get it out of my hair after trying so hard to scrub it out. Eventually, I gave up and squeezed in the provided shampoo which calmed me down a great bit!! I had to use my own shampoo since I didn't feel like there was enough in the packet to get all of the goo out. It definitely was gunk-free after just one round of shampooing! The conditioner made my hair so silky smooth (also used my own along with this) and feeling amazing! I cleaned my bathtub of all the splashed gunky stuff while I let the conditioner do its magic for about 3 minutes. Once completely rinsed, blow dried and straightened, I was just a bit sad when I saw the final product. I really expected my hair to turn out a bit more purple/red than brown. If you look reallll close you can maybe tell that there's a light splash of color in there but it's a lot more brown than expected. Not what you thinkWhen doing your personal review you are able to choose what color your hair is then what color you want it to be. I did just this, going about a shade lighter. Got my kit in, very nice. Colored my hair and it colored my grey as well as highlights in my hair. I did message my "stylist" to let her know it was great however not the shade I chose. She says "you can't color previously colored hair" So why is it an option to Chios your color? She says she can adjust my color to where my hair will lighten over time... A week later my highlights are showing and I'm not happy. I message my "stylist" once more and still I'm waiting for a reply. Dye is great, but stylist falls shortI joined eSalon with the belief that the stylists work with you to adjust your hair color. This is not the case. I got resistance each time. I have medium blonde hair and I wanted to go lighter. I was getting my hair done at the salon before and did not have trouble with red tones coming out, but you pay for that. I have red tones in my hair naturally so I have had to deal with this before (I have been dying my hair for over 20 years). This was not a problem and I was excited to be patient and work with the stylist. The stylist recommended other products at first (not a problem) and then all I got was "follow the instructions, dye is only to be put on the roots". I responded by asking how this helps the red tones my roots was where the red tones were. I got the same response back "follow instructions". I don't even think the stylist read my email, because none of my questions were answered (eg. should I try a different shade). I was rather disappointed with the stylist, but I recommend eSalon if they get your color right the first time. The dye was wonderful. Ok for the moneyNot bad for a home coloring kit. My hair turned out to be a more honey blonde than I wanted. Also my ends turned out more yellow and didn't blend to gather seamlessly as I wanted them to. Very Disappointed Following 1st Time UseI didn't have much but was becoming more conscious of the scattered grey, especially in my fringe so decided to give eSalon a go instead of booking an appointment at my local salon. I couldn't be much more disappointed as the coverage was virtually non existent. Something changedI have been using your hair color since you started. Love the color, that it doesn't get too dark and soaked in like some over the counter products do. My shade is perfect! But.... It seems the last 3 kits I have received have just my hair feeling full of gunk. Like it's covered in hair gel or something. I've always done the dye and then conditioned and had marvelous results. Soft and squeaky clean hair. Something has changed in the formula it seems. I colored yesterday morning before work and spent the entire day with my hair in a bun with greasy looking bangs because it looked dirty/greasy. I couldn't wait to get home to wash it. Opposite of what I asked forMy roots ended up orange. The rest of my hair just lost it's golden reddish tones and got darker. I don't understand how you can mess this upso much. I did everything exactly as directed. I noticed the orange right away and wondered why the glaze was purple in bottle. brassyI was hoping for the grey ash color I chose but only got a darker brassy version of what I already had. Hadn't colored my hair in 12 years. Thought I'd give this a try. I'm not happy. Great grey coverageI am loving the grey coverage! but can you darken my color! Now that we are into Christmas time and attending lots of functions I'm seeing myself in several pictures and my hair is really red!! To gold-redMy hair has a natural red undertone so with the color selection it adds to the red. I would prefer to have more of an ash blonde-light brown. I normally use a level 6 in the fall to winter and a level 7 in the spring time to summer with highlights. I do like the product it does cover well. I have noticed the longer I wait in between coloring the more the gold undertone comes out. My hair will always pull red-gold so it is not necessary to add to it. Great color and long lasting - but I had a horrible time washing the dye out.The color was exactly what I was looking for and all the items you get in the package are really great. The instructions were easy to follow too. But I had the worst time trying to wash the dye out of my hair in the shower. I used the Color Safe Shampoo, and my old shampoo but it would not wash out the dye. My hair was a sticky, gunky mess after attempting to wash it out with shampoo. It was gumming up my combs and brushes. I had to wash my hair with Dawn dish soap several times to finally get my hair to a normalish state again. A lot of time was wasted trying to get my hair to look and feel normal again so my experience was a real bummer. I don't know if I did something wrong or my hair just won't take this dye properly. I will say this though - after 6 scrubbings with Dawn somehow my hair is still dyed on the roots so that's kind of impressive. EDIT: I revised this review because I was really grateful for the assistance and advice from I got from customer service on my issue of getting the dye to wash out properly. Their advice helped a lot and I do love the color and longevity of the color. It's still pretty difficult to wash out even with following their advice of using a clarifying shampoo. 2nd time and disappointed again.I asked for a dark brown with an undertone of red that shows when the light shine off of my hair. 1st time I ended up with almost jet black hair. 2nd time a little lighter but I still see no red. covers gray and staysCustomizing my color to be delivered to my door each month is joyfully convenient. The color is true and it stays on my gray roots until they grow out. Which is a lot more than I can say for other products off the shelf. I appreciate the customer service of emailing me each month to let me know the product is on its way, and asking if I want to make any changes. I rated this product three stars for 2 reasons (and I am sorry I had to) 1) the price could be lower 2) no matter how much time i spend rinsing out the color or using all of the provided shampoo/conditioner, my hair is greasy and clumped together afterward (I have tried this for 3 months). I cannot get the gross feeling out of my hair until I heavily shampoo it again 24 hrs later. So FYI the 1st day your hairstyle will be a tight braid or ponytail. User BewareI'm confident that eSalon works well for most people. Otherwise, they would not be in business. However, my hair was growing out. I had 2-inches of white gray at the root and dark ash blonde on the ends. I advised the color consultant that wanted to go lighter and even sent pics of my hair when it was professionally colored at a salon. I was advised to use Color Oops to remove all color. The end result was rather orange. The colorist advised "not to worry" - I even asked if I should use Color Oops again and I was advise "no, that's not necessary." After coloring my hair, the roots are light blond and the ends are dark dark blonde with a nice brassy touch. It is very interesting to note that I contact Madison Reed first about their color and was told quite bluntly that they would not sell me product because I need to see a professional colorist locally to obtain the correct coloration and healthy look I needed. eSalon took the same information that I provided Madison Reed and said their produce could achieve the desire results. I advise eSalon that in the future, they should be ore like Madison Reed and deny selling the color to a customer when they know it will not turn out well. I should have listened to Madison Reed and stopped there. Now I have to go to a local salon and have to color stripped and recolored. Colors gray about the same as LorealI was excited to give this color treatment a try, I am 51 and a brunette, I have been coloring my hair for years with Loreal and occasionally other brands. Perfect 10 (which I leave on my hair longer than 10 minutes, about 20) seems to be the best for me for all over color. I also do root touch up (Clairol) in between sometimes. I tried this brand and listed the stubborn gray as my main factor in the description process, I followed the directions perfectly (did not leave on longer, since they new the issue) the color did not cover my gray and I had to do a root touch up immediately following this brand. Did not work for me, hope it works for others. Best suggestion is if you are going to give it a try, and you are coloring because of gray roots, leave it on longer as you would a store brand.
