I've been ordering my hair color from eSalon for a few years and I could not be more pleased! I've had my hair colored professionally and I've done in myself, but nothing has ever come out as good as this. I'm a natural redhead and now very gray. So difficult to get right, but now it is. I get stopped constantly asking about the color. I give out the eSalon name all of the time.
I get many compliments on my hair color looking so natural. After about two weeks it starts to fade. I use sulfate free shampoo for color hair, but it still happens.
When I last coloured my own hair many years ago the bathroom got more of it than I did. It was messy and not very successful. This colour does cover roots and how it comes so close to my own colour without the technicians seeing my mop I don't know. Easy to use and good value.
As a first time user I loved it. I have a large graft on my head and have to wear partial wigs but the rest of my hair shows. The kit was impressive, the color is holding beautifully but because I do not have the problem of roots growing out, I need coloring at infrequent intervals and cannot use a scheduled treatment delivery.
Consistent color every time--I have been using eSalon for close to 2 years. I put in blond highlights after coloring. exactly what I want.
My only complaint is the gloves--too small and thin. I have to buy others.
Love the convenience of having a perfect shade sent to my home. I only wish it was better at gray coverage. My grays come back in about 3-4 washings, but the other root coverage lasts until it grows out.
What can I say I have a busy life and to go to a salon n sit for a few hours every few weeks kills me! With this I can have the same color and it lasts the same and the best part .. Wait for it... I can do it any time on my schedule !!
When I finally got around to using the hair color I ordered, I was happy with most aspects of using the hair color. It was easy to apply, the directions were clear and most importantly, it covered the gray. The brush that came in the package was very helpful in applying color to the front of my hair where the gray is most prominent and stubborn. I liked getting two pairs of gloves, so I could use one for applying the color and the other for rinsing.
The only thing I didn't like was the color is too dark. I tried to make it clear in my profile that I don't want my hair to be dark brown when I get done, but perhaps I didn't do so. I think dark brown (or other dark colors) look harsh and obviously dyed in older women like me. (55, I'm 55 ). My hair is about 1/3 gray, so it should be possible for it not to be so dark. I have used hair color before with a lighter result, so I know it can be done. When I reorder, I would like to get color that isn't quite so dark.
The color does not fade between colorings. The gray grows out, but the color is still rich and vibrant, which means I can go a little longer between coloring. Also, my hair it noticeably healthier using this product. Whatever you're doing, keep it up!
I have used what is supposedly "the best" boxed color from the drug store...all of them, in fact, and none of them come close to esalon in quality. My color lasts forever, Gray never comes through and I wear my hair very long and usually only do a root touch up. The custom color is blended beautifully and I have gorgeous highlights, especially when I am in the sun. I didn't get this good of results even in a Salon.
I asked for a slightly lighter colour which I got and colour is nice. I thought it might have been a little lighter but will change that for my next order.
This is the only colour I have ever used that does not fade at all. it lasts until my next colour is due and still no fade. I don't use the shampoo or conditioner as I buy them from Holland and Barrett, because the have all natural ingredients and no sulphates, which are industrial cleaners.
I discontinued my order for a few months and went back to buying pre-packaged hair color at the store. I quickly discovered that E-salon hair color was richer and lasted twice as long.
I have been using eSalon for at least 5 years and can say I will never use any other product. If you need to change your color they make every effort to provide a new color according to your request. I requested a new color and it was too dark. They remixed it until I was happy again. The color coverage over gray is amazing..
I've been coloring my hair for sometime. My biggest gripe was that it didn't cover my gray for very long. It just faded away. I was literally coloring my hair every 2 to 3 weeks. eSolon doesn't fade. I'm so happy with it.
Ever since I had to start coloring my hair (25 years) I constantly was faced with the problem of not being able to get the same color from a manufacturer which meant I had to chose another brand and hope to match the color, or, over a period of time my color was renamed and replaced with another shade. I never had a consistent color - it was either too light, too dark, too red or too drab. But now I have my custom color sent to me and it is the same EVERY time I get it. Each time I use it - someone tells me they love the color of my hair. I love to tell people about your product...because you have taken away the worry of what color will my hair turn out to be. I have very resistant gray but the personalized color did a superb job of coloring my gray. My first color selection was a little too dark, not the
colorist fault, my fault in my response to their questions. Please be as specific as possible. I should have sent a picture to show my current color to help in their color analysis.
I'm really pleased with the colour- I kept trying to find something similar in the shops for years, but kept getting disappointed with the results. And you managed to get it right the first time :)
After working with a salon tech a couple of times to get the color just right, I have been very please. I have used eSalon for over a year and results are consistent. My only issue has been that with the last application, the color around my face has not lasted as long as prior applications
The whole process of dying one's own hair can be daunting, but with eSalon it is actually designed towards making the experience as easy and hassle free as possible.
Really happy with the results as well!
I have used my customized hair color several times and love it. My hair comes out very soft, the color covers all gray, goes on easily and lasts longer than commercial products. The only "con" I would say is that it is rather expensive for me to keep up. I am on a fixed income and find that it is just getting too expensive to keep up. However, I am thinking of alternating between my eSalon color and a commercial brand just to cut cost a little.
Everything else I have used on my auburn hair has either made it look brassy or too red. E-Salon mixes my color and I can adjust it accordingly with them. Now if I could only keep those gray roots away!
Custom color, sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get the exact the color you want . . . but, when you do OMG! it's amazing. Thanks for the color I've always wanted and keeping it!!
If you want good coverage without having to go to the salon and want to save some $, this is for you. I just wouldn't use it often since it has a very strong chemical smell. I've been able to push my next coloring the furthest after using this product and by spraying root touch up spray to prolong the in between coloring.
If you want to do it yourself, there is no better way to go!

I you're anything like me, you've tried every boxed hair color on the market only to be disappointed by the fading color and poor grey coverage. Almost one year ago, I received an offer from eSalon to meet with a colorist and receive a complimentary coloring. I was more than pleased when I left the eSalon studio but the next month was what sold me completely. The color lasted without any noticeable fading and the greys did not lose the color. Regrowth is my only issue so now I do it myself every 3-4 weeks. I am a VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!!!
I really like the color. Even my hairdresser does, although I'm sure she wants me to have her do it!!! My problem is the grays come in quicker and quicker :) ...I wish there was a sponge or something that could fill in the grays in between coloring. The options on the market are sticky/tacky.
I recommend eSalon to everyone I know who can't afford to go to the Salon every 3 weeks
I still can't get over how easy the whole process was I was totally stressed at the very idea of having to purchase my own hair colour but the salon was getting just too expensive and to go into a store with what may or may not be a trained person was just stressed at the very idea. I had online help and never looked back or worried since.
I've been using salon for my hair color for over a year now and have gotten tons of compliments. People can't believe I don't spend big bucks at a salon. I noticed with this last order that the instructions were different. Instead of adding water to the remaining hair color after applying it to the roots, and massaging it thru your hair for 2 minuts, the instructions say to comb the color through then add water and massage the scalp for 1 minute. Why the change?
I love my eSalon custom color. Other hair color products, I have used, created a burning sensation and a skin rash on my neckline. My eSalon color did not.
My temples have the most gray and it covered them better than any other product and 3 days later its still covered. That has never happened ,even with salon coloring.
Send a photo of yourself and info on your present color. Giving as much info as possible will ensure positive results. Easy to use. Final step is messy. I color right before showering in order to do the last step in the shower. Customer service is great if you need to speak with someone.
I have tried two colors. One for when my hair gets a red tinge to it from the summer sun and a darker one in the colder months with little sunlight. I at first thought the second darker color was a bit dark, but after waiting a day, even my husband said it was nice to see my natural color again. Therefore, I was mistaken with it being a bit dark. I thought my colorist was spot on and I honestly have NO complaints only compliments.
My hair color has always been between readily available products. Dark blonde is too dark and medium blonde is too light. So, I have mixed colors, but it is hard to get it exactly right. This product does it for you, and changes it if you want the color slightly different. They work with you until they get it exactly right. Thank you!
Did not expect the color to be so "right on." Have received many compliments about how the color brings out my green eyes. Also is not drying and hair seems to shine.
The difference between eSalon and regular box color is night and day. Yes, it is a bit more expensive, but you will see that difference in the color and in the condition of your hair.

Went for darkest ash brown I’m light ginger every time I wash I’m getting lighter and lighter I’m actually horrified I’ve gone from cool tone darkest brown naturally and only wanted to get rid of my greys now I’m ginger greys not covered and I’m lighter than my natural colour I specifically said in my stylist notes I didn’t want harsh red tones and colour that lifted very red and I feel like I was given that as an inside joke disappointed is an understatement

My roots did not take the color. I followed directions completely starting with my roots using a bowl and brush, covered everything, let it set for the recommended time and you can still clearly see my grow out.

Works great for a week or less. Everytime I color, I love it but it just doesn't last. I generally only need to do my roots. I'm sure it probably works great for others but I've actually found supermarket touch-ups and semi-permanent colors to be longer lasting and significantly cheaper. The color looks just as good, my hair feels great and lasts for at least 3 to 4 weeks (my hair grows fast). I've been using eSalon for a few years but it only takes two washes and the grays of my roots are significantly lighter than the rest of my hair. I love many eSalon product but the Custom Color Set just isn't for me.

I love the customer service and believe colorists are experienced and customer friendly.
I tried 5 times and worked with them to change my color. Looking for dark brown hair and grey coverage is not enough, I still see Grey's after following all instructions. I still like to go with them as it is ammonia free dye. I will prob give it 1 more try to order something darker.🫰

I like the Féria I use so much better!!! It’s brighter and it lasts so long the very first time after coloring that I washed it the color faded!! Especially on my roots… I want to cancel!!!

I've used your hair color a year ago, decided to give it another try because the compliments were non-stop and I loved it. I used most of the solution and noticed the bottle was warmer than when I started but I left the bathroom to set my timer and to get another towel. I walked in, the bottle had a volcanic effect with whipped color solution all over the bottle and countertop. I'm reluctant to buy again.

I sent a picture of my present colour which had root growth, that i had tried to do, this had a very warm tone. I spoke a couple of times saying that i definitely wanted no warmth to the colourist, so i was advised that a light brown with ash tones would be the best, i was only going to do the root growth although this was now a good 6 inches, but the rest of the length was fine. I paid for fast delivery but it still took about 9 days to arrive. I followed the instructions and was left with a very strong warm colour more then before. I washed it a few times and even put a blue shampoo on which didnt make any differance. I have now had to put a colour stripper on and have a fair ginger colour on my growth. No i am not happy i ended up paying £26 for a colour supposed to be tayloured to me that has made my colour worse.

I absolutely loved this color when I first ordered it, so much so that when it began to fade I immediately ordered more. I only received my root color. I was shocked by this since I used esalon in the past and the kit typically refreshes the entire color. While it’s a great product, I feel like that was there was to save money at the customers expense. I don’t think any product designed to color my hair that requires me begging customer service to include enough product to complete the task is worth it. The first kit you get is nice, but beware that this is I’ll never ship twice to you.

Not sure how there’s so many great reviews. I was pleasantly surprised with the presentation of the box and everything they sent however considering i colored my hair on 10/6 and today is 11/10 that’s not good. $4 revlon lasts longer and did a better job. Maybe because I’m a redhead but I don’t think that’s the case. This coloring made my hair multiple colors. I was grateful I did it right before Halloween. They sent a “root” color and a rest of the hair color. These colors looked like night and day they were so different. So in general, not for redheads! Too expensive and only lasts 3 weeks if that. I wasn’t planning on giving a review but I would’ve liked to have known this before purchasing so here I am. So today I’m trying the second box because I forgot to cancel autoship. I am hopeful that since I don’t have a “root” color that it won’t look as bad this time. Unless a miracle happens with this color job (highly doubtful) I will never purchase esalon again. Too bad too as I like small businesses and their presentation. Really wish I could upload my pictures. Almost looked like a clown. Maybe that’s why?!

I was looking to lighten up my natural dark hair so I decided to give myself a try. The palette offered through the app seems limited in terms of variety of colour for my taste but I decided to give it a go anyway. I chose one of the lightest tones available thinking it would be noticiable change. I followed all the steps, I covered all my hair and waited according to the instructions but the results were far away from my expectations. It has been 5 days since I applied the colour kit and I can't see a difference between my original colour and the formula chosen for me. It's very disappointed and honestly a waste of money.

When I recieved this color I was suuuuuuuper excited. It looked great until week 3...then...there it was....suuuuuuuper hot roots. I chose a level 3 mahogany brown. My roots...well....they are a cranberry red....what the huuuuuuh?
I have since sent photos and a message to my colorist for help with adjusting my color formula to hopefully avoid this in the future.

Stated I was 50% gray, colored my hair making sure to cover grays several times to make sure they were good and saturated. Followed instructions, probably left on for 5-10 minutes longer due to application and getting ready for rinse, wash, etc. Once I was done and dried my hair, the reason I colored it were staring me in the face. Grays white and bright with no color sticking at all. I'm three weeks after color and my hair is more gray than when I was 4 weeks past due w/ color - and its dull, has no shine and looks totally flat and unhealthy - and gray. I will never purchase again. And now I'm stuck becuase I don't want to put more chemicals on my hair until at least 5-6 weeks. Have that to look forward to, six more weeks of flat, fading, super gray hair.

I started using this a few years ago. I love the company and customer service was really good for the first couple times when I had questions or wanted to adjust things. I found the color fades extremely fast on the hair dye and I ended up adjusting it so much because you can't really tell what it's going to turn out like. It often didn't look like how I was trying to get it to look. What would be good would be to see X is what your hair will look like with this color or a shade sampling but you don't get that unfortunately. I just wasn't happy with the result in the end and resorted to Keracolor color depositing conditioner...

Didn’t feel too damaging in my hair from what I can tell, but I’ve only done test strands to test the color. Haven’t found the right one yet, so haven’t done a full head of dye yet. Maybe next time….

This is the third time using the color. The color is great and my hair is soft and does not feel processed. The coverage of the gray hair is not very good especially on my temples.

My roots are still red and fade out so quickly

My request/goal was a hint of red in my medium-dark hair. This is auburn or was when I was choosing a color. A small amount of red to add a tone that was noticeable when the sun shined on my head, that was what I wanted. When I'm indoors under recessed light, my freshly colored roots look very red. A week later they are pale, almost pink taking on a glow. I'm now buying boxed ash brown to get by.
The dual process should be the perfect system to create a completed coloring for my "simple" request especially with increasing grey to deal with. Darker, more deeply, neutral covered roots is always preferable when coloring in ANY color.
