Bad outcome Wrong ColorMy "custom color" for my long light blonde hair is completely wrong. I requested a golden copper blonde as I was looking to go a little ginger darker blonde. The outcome is very dark brown/black with purplish undertones! Seriously crazy! How does a strawberry blonde shade turn out like this. I was given a 2 step system bc I am so light blonde I was told step 1 was to put pigment into my hair well after step 1 my hair was black so step 2 didn't work except to add a slight undertone of what I guess was supposed to be copper but instead has some purple /copper coloring. I called and was told that since I am blonde I must have porous hair and it took in to much of the toner. So ladies if you are blonde be careful bc they told me i cannot do anything about this until it fades out that is unless i want to STRIP OUT my hair (NOT) however i can start washing my hair with dish soap, really? I never take time to leave reviews but felt I needed to in this case. I will say that the packaging was beautiful and the sample shampoo and conditioner was lovely but take caution if you have light hair and are trying something other than you normal shade. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Didn't quite cover my greyI like the color, but it didn't conquer my most stubborn gray around my hairline. I left it on the whole time. I Expected BetterI certainly dont mean to offend, but my honest opinion is that I've done an equivalent job with Color Silk $3.00 box of dye. Normally, I don't bother to follow the coloring instructions, because I've been dying my hair for eons. This time, I took extra special care to follow every instruction to the T. I timed roots then did my ends, and even had some leftover dye to mix with water and massage in in the shower. Sadly, my roots came out very dark, while the bulk of my hair is a brighter shade of red. They didnt blend well at all. My hair feels much drier and frizzy. Has turned my hair to straw and my ends look like crapStopped coloring my hair because of OTC brands made my hair overly porous and look like straw. Salon dyes were better be cause they were custom but I did not want to send $120 in the salon every 6 weeks for my super long and thick hair. Esalon with their custom blends seemed to be the right fit to still get custom color and not cost an arm and a leg. First two shipments seemed not to destroy my hair like OTC color and I was happy. Since then, each consecutive dye seems to have made my hair progressively worse and it is awful now. It also seems like custom color does not realize that your roots my need refreshing more than annually when your hair falls more than halfway down your back. Orange, not beige :’( 😢My hair hasn’t been dyed in two years, and two years ago all I got was a few highlights which have grown out to my ends. So basically. All virgin hair. I was really hesitant to try out e-salon because dying my hair isn’t something I do all the time, it’s rare because I’m really trying to take care of my hair. But I digress, this summer with the quarantine from covid, I thought I’d do something to make myself happy. And since there are no hairdressers open due to the quarantine I tried e-salon, given its excellent reviews. My hair is naturally a medium blonde, veering on the dark blonde side in the winter, and gets quite light in the summer. All I wanted was to add some ashy/beige blonde to it so that it was lighter before the summer started. I had to wait a really long time for my order, but again, covid and I’m in canada, so I understand. Today I took the plunge. I followed the instructions, and I even rinsed with purple shampoo and conditioner after. But I so regret it now, as my hair is all orange. Brassy, coppery orange. If I could attach a picture I would. I’m so sad, because now I feel like I’m going to have to dye it again sooner than later because it looks so bad :( and the salons aren’t open yet, not to mention I don’t have the money right now to pay for a professional. Maybe if you want to go black or red esalon will work for you, but the colour that was chosen to be mixed with my 20volume developer didn’t have enough ash in it, so I’d think twice before lightening with e-salon. 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Been over a week still no color, package is now in Kentucky.... Im in MD....So I ordered my color, its shipped and I even spent the extra 5$ to get it quicker... what a laugh, it isn't even in my state yet delivery a week from now... so much for fast track... After I get this im done and will go back to Madison Reed so cancel my account. Well its been a week, no color yet.... checked tracking and its still in another state... are you fucking kidding me..... Never again.. Madison Reed and Ulta send my color out in a day or 2 so Esalon you can kiss my ass and I will continue to warn people about your shitty practices...5$ to fast track and here it is a week later and nothing...... Messiest Dye I've Ever Tried - Color Not RightLet me start by saying I have regularly dyed my hair for over 10 years now myself, using both many different kinds of box dyes and professional dyes. Pros: 1. Hair feels healthy afterwards and not dried out 2. Customer service is responsive and helpful 3. The kit is really fun, there's a poem on the box and your name is on everything. Instructions are straightforward and easy Cons: 1. They had trouble getting the color "black" right. This was actually a big reason for me to try a new brand: "they can't possibly mess up black, right?" Initially when picking out my color, I did not get an option for blue-black, just "soft black" which we all know is just dark brown. In the comments, the company had responded to others that if their color wasn't there, to pick the closest one to it and leave comments about what you actually want so this is what I did. My first coloring left about 2-3 inches of my roots dark brown while the rest of my hair was jet black from the box dye I had previously used (I took pics and sent it to them with my feedback). I decided to give them another chance and wrote some feedback to get my formula adjusted. Second round was a little better but still not black. Third round was the same and that's when I canceled my subscription 2. This dye sort of feels normal throughout the process until I got out of the shower: there were splashes of dye ALL OVER MY BATHROOM! It had splashed out of the shower while I rinsed it literally everywhere, there was even some close to the ceiling somehow! Like I mentioned before, I have dyed my hair with many different kinds of dye and not a single one has splashed all over the place like this one did while being rinsed - be super duper careful during your process and check everything twice when you're done. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Don't Count on Receiving your Color On time...My first order was May 16. It is now June 16 and I've yet to receive my color for which I requested a 3 week reordering schedule. Not the Right Color and Not Enough DyeThe color I wanted- cool/neutral lighter blonde- was vetoed by my consultant. I said ok- they apparently know best. So, I instead got a generic medium blonde color. I told them my hair pulls warm and I didn’t want that- but I now have deeply warm medium/dark blonde hair anyway. Also, I explained that I have very fine, very thick and very long hair- and as a result- I was given 2 small bottles of dye/developer. Not enough. Nope nope nope. There are some places underneath my hair which were not saturated enough to be even. I really wanted to like this but I just don’t know how to be successful using this product when I’m not being heard in the consult- I guess if I were to try again I would just pick whatever color I wanted and ignore the colourist suggestions idk. Maybe I’m just annoyed because my hair is now nearly mustard coloured. Ugh. FailedFinally used the product last week, June 10, 2020. Not happy with the product because it left my hair dry (the conditioner wouldn't even soften it up) & it didn't cover the gray for long. I followed the directions, this is not the first time hair color was done at home. I specifically stated that my hair turns gray 3 weeks into color. This time after 4 days, the front of my hair was white, the color disappeared. Not happy with the product. Not for me...This is my 3rd colour order. After the first 2 my greys are still untouched and my hair is dry and brittle. My colour was amended and developing time lengthened but still no difference. I can't fault the team for customer service and commitment to trying to get it right, they went above and beyond. Unfortunately no instructions for very short/pixie hairstyles to help with sectioning hair etc (I found this very frustrating) I have used the esalon shampoo and conditioner religiously and do the once a week conditioning retreat, but the condition of my hair after colouring has been terrible. Also the amonia/chemical smell was overpowering (my bathroom window open and extractor fan on the whole time) All of which means that no matter how much I want this to be great.... Loved it, until...I was impressed with the color when I first did the application, although I didn’t notice my hair was any softer or less frizzy than using a store bought color. But, I was happy and ready to continue. It is two weeks post color and my grays are horrid! I have never had a hard time covering grays before and I look like it’s been 8 weeks since I colored my hair. I am willing to give Esalon one more shot to see if maybe the first one was a fluke. I am a licensed hairstylist but loved the picture of the pearlized copperI loved the color this was supposed to be. I loved the way the system was set up and the directions. It started out too dark, made my hair feel strawlike, but this is old lady hair I am dealing with. The color faded quickly at the roots but left my ends dark. I will have to work at getting it back to where it was before I used it. Also as it faded it looked ash, seriously ashy, which isn't copper even pearlized copper it is just dull ashy brown hair. I do not want to continue receiving, I have tried to call and cancel as it was auto deducted from my paypal. I was glad to try it out, but not something I want to continue. Not worth itI was really excited to receive my colour and was looking to achieve a light ash blonde root. The colour was not what i requested and made my hair even more golden. I would have saved money by getting a box dye from the shop as this was the same result. Way different than expectedMy hair came out WAY too dark. It seems nearly black. My natural color is light brown to dark blonde. I was sent a shade of dark brown. This was definitely not what I was expecting when I normally dye it a light copper mahogany. Now I need to figure out how to fix it. I was looking more for a light shade of copper red blonde. A little disappointed.I ordered a custom color kit and wrote so many notes and attached pictures of the exact color I wanted to have my hair. I didn’t receive any guidance, advice, or any concern from the colorist assigned to me, and the mixture seemed way too generic, not realizing my concerns at all. I followed all of the instructions provided, but the overall application was just patchy and didn’t cover all of the brassy and coppery colors, and actually added too much gold in my hair. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!I have been waiting weeks for my order and have still not received it. I finally received a tracking number a few days ago. It was delivered to Burlington, ON depot which is 1 hour away from my home. Now it is on its way to Richmond, BC, which is a 6 hour plane ride away!!! When I called to inquire with customer service they said to call back next week!! They would not call the shipping company to look into it. Easy to do but color is no good!So the kit came packaged nicely. It was very easy to do. However, after coloring my hair I noticed no gold undertones in which I requested when making the formula (which was dark brown with golden tones) Lastly, the color started really fading in about 3 weeks and has more of a reddish tint. Not at all the color requested.I asked to lighten up to a strawberry blonde, similar to Nicole Kidman’s color. The colorist adjusted my order to a different color than I requested, and now my hair is darker than it was before I started - it came out more like a Susan Sarandon color only without as much red tones. Average Provider at BestQuarantine times call for home hair color. I am usually a salon goer and trust the professionals who have honed their craft but have had to turn to home color during quarantine. I saw esalon on Instagram and decided to try it out. The product was fine but faded fast. I wish the turnaround time for shipping was as fast as the color fade! During normal shipping conditions, be prepared to wait a LONG time (1.5-2 weeks) for a reorder of the exact same product I had ordered originally. Product not receivedI cannot give a good rating because I have not received my order yet. On May 29th, Sprintstar sent me an email indicating that I refused my order. This is so false. I was home all day and no one had never been here. I called the delivery company and had left a message with the receptionist to have some one call me. Color doesn’t stickThe quiz method is not very accurate. I mentioned my hair turns extremely red orange or brassy when I color it. And of coarse my hair turned orange. The whole process was very messy and drippy. I colored my hair using the bottle method. Unfortunately I live at high elevation so both of the bottle lids were cracked upon arrival causing a lot of the product to be wasted. Esalon was kind enough to send a new color. I recolored my hair following their instructions but the color did not stick. Overall I would never use esalon to color my hair and I do not recommend them. Expected more noticeable changeThis was the first time I colored my hair myself. I've gotten my hair colored before at a salon so I knew basically what I wanted to do but I was still nervous! The directions were easy to follow and videos were helpful. However, I wasn't very excited about the end results. I didn't notice much of a change in my hair color. Natural hair color is light to medium brown and the color I ordered was medium brown (intense pearl). I was expecting more of the violet color to come through, which I didn't see and even overall the brown didn't seem to get any darker. I know it's hard to see from the small color swatch they put online, but it really felt like my natural color was just matched, and I notice some color change if I was outside in the sun. Perhaps part user error, but I felt like I explained what results I was hoping for, and even sent in photos of my natural color. I like the fact that there is a real person creating a custom color for me, but I was disappointed with the end results. The final color was fine, it just wasn't really what I wanted, I was looking for more of a change. DisappointingThis was my second time using eSalon. The first time everything was perfect. This time....not so much. I placed the order on a Thursday and for a week the message on the site stated "your stylist is working on your color". After a week I received the "your order has shipped" however when I checked the tracking info it just stated that the package was on the way to a shipping facility. I recognize that shipping is delayed currently due to the virus and this may not have totally been your delay. When the package arrived I opened it to find that it was missing the shampoo, conditioner, and - most importantly- the brush. Not a good color matchI intentionally gave you the brand name and number of the product I was using that was the color I like on my hair. What you send me was lacking in the red coloring of the Auburn. So the color you sent is really more brown than Auburn on my hair. My hair is more dry since I use this product. Rather disappointed. The Worst Hair Color EverI sent in my photo with my dark brown hair and said I would like to go slightly lightly..... I received my kit, followed the directions exactly and my hair came out BLACK.... the BLACKEST BLACK you have ever seen. Not impressed. My hair feels and looks very damaged. Coverage of grey/white hair Failed to cover rootsFollowed directions very closely. Once hair was thoroughly covered with product left on for 30 minutes. Applied remainder of color with water and massaged into hair before showering. Perhaps it doesn't work on short coarse hair. Or it needs to be on longer than 30 minutes. Unhappy with color and customer service!I was so excited to finally color my hair after going gray, post-chemo. The color was too light and my roots around my face still looked gray. I emailed immediately to ask how soon I could re-dye or touch up my hair. That was almost three weeks ago, and I still haven't gotten a response. I went into my account to cancel my next order and was offered free color for the next time. I was told I would be contacted by, "my colorist" to discuss the color. It looked really good for 2 weeksThis does not cover gray :( and unfortunately that’s the only reason I color my hair. It is cheaper to order it twice a month than seeing a stylist once every 8 weeks but, I have to get my hair cut anyway around that time and would have need to to dye my hair with this brand 4 times.. No overall color or grey coverageWhen I had my color custom made I specifically stated I wanted my hair all one color since I was still growing out at balayage. I was sent to different shades and I also stated my hair was prone to turning red which it did. Did not like the golden colorI was sent the same color as I had when I started with you a while ago. I stopped getting it and thought I would try again. My hair is dark brown (I mean dark dark brown) I just wanted it a little lighter, the girl sent me the same thing as before. I even sent her a picture of my hair. I do not like the golden as it wears on it looks really good, which is not what I want. To me who ever done the color this time just look up what I had and sent it. Waste of my money. My hair is still 2 different colorsI colored my hair and ended up having hot roots. I contacted esalon via email twice, and no response. I finally called and was put on the phone with a colorist that said "easy fix" and another kit was sent to me. I was excited to have this "easy fix" but my roots are still a different color that the rest of my hair, they just aren't orange. Disappointed. I have to see a professional to fix. This is the first time this has ever happened and now I am very hesitant to even color my hair again myself. No product receivedI still have not received my first order-ordered May 20th. I have since cancelled my account as I have not been able to try your product and my hair dresser is back in business. I am disappointed with your service. Not sure if I will ever receive my product but my credit card has been charged the $12 for my order.
