It had my name on the bottle. It was put together JUST FOR ME. At the store I'm buying a premade, premixed, closest to what I want. This was me saying what I want and them getting closest to that.
I love the ease of getting it timely in mail and good match of the color. I have felt however that post application, the hair is left kind of sticky and greasy even after I have used the shampoo/conditioner that comes with it. A couple times I had to get back in the shower to shampoo with my usual shampoo and then the hair looks amazing. So, now I make sure I use my shampoo and thoroughly clean my hair out. The result is amazing however.
Loved the color when I was finished, but it faded really fast. I was using your shampoo even, but the color has faded. I need to color it again before the gray has showen up.
I wish to extend my sincere thanks to the team who worked with me (a few times) in order to obtain the exact color of my natural hair. My BAD, as I had originally gone a little too dark...Also, they were not cavalier about sending me just any color-change. They were very considerate and explained to me how any kind of shade difference must be done slowly, so as not to create any kind of "halo" or "bi-color" effect. Well, their methodology worked! I am good to go from now on. Thanks to eSalon, it's great to not have to worry about my color or damaging my hair. I want a nice natural brown, not a medium brown, or a dark blond or anything of the sort, I just want a much nicer brown to make ch with my very light skin and getting ready to transition to a more natural colour, but for now it needs to be hiding all the gray. I love your company, and I hope that I will enjoy my new colour.

I have native American blood, so it's very hard to cover the "gray/white" around my temples that would be the only fault I am finding with this product, and I didn't get the pearl color I wanted with the purple tone I ordered... maybe because my hair is so jet black. Going to change it up to the natural blue / black color I have always had.
I have been using ESalon for quite a while now and I love it. Unfortunately I cannot afford to go to the salon to get my hair colored every 5 weeks so this is perfect. It comes straight to my door and the color is salon quality.
Great color product just like my colorist was, but at 42% of the cost and I can color my hair when grey starts coming out NOT when I have an appointment.
The color and gloss have been spot on, which has been very difficult through out my adulthood.
Unfortunately, as a fed head, the glosses is necessary each time I color, which adds to the price tag.
When I read the ad prior to trying the product, the price was $25. That was only for the first color kit. The price has now reached a minimum of $40. Each kit.
This is partially due to the extra step I must take because red fades very quickly. At least that's what I was told by their "expert staff"
Just the right blond is soooo hard to get. My natural pale ash blond always accentuated the blotchy pink tones that are NOT AT ALL flattering. Seriously, we're not talking rosacia; but because there is so little pigment in my skin and hair, my Hollywood look-alike is Sissy Spacek in the movie Carrie :-( I'd rather be a look-alike of Desp. Housewives' Lynette Scavo or even the lovely Jody Foster. My "off-the-shelf"' box always had too much copper (Bernadette Peters circa 1972) or too much platinum (Ellen D) in it to look really natural. Once I used a mass-produced ash color and ended up running to the pro's with purple hair! What I got from eSalon is a light blond that looks totally natural without any red, gray or platinum! Thanks eSalon! I'll be back with a review of the shampoo and conditioner when I've had a chance to use them!
I really like the color, but find I need to do an all-over coloring each time to get the same darker result. The color tends to fade more reddish by the time I color it again and I like to get back to the dark brown coloring.
The color is exactly the same shade every time, just as I have chosen it. The color doesn't seem to last as long as when I have it professionally colored, but I will continue to use the product!
Application was easier than I thought. I did not get the first color only on the roots - I was a bit messy about it because frankly, it's really hard to get color strictly on 1-inch of roots by yourself and in only 10-15 minutes. Applying the second color on the ends was easy, but I was a bit messy about it as well and some ended up going on the roots. I thought I would see a line of demarcation where the root color and ends color met up, but the color is seamless. I think I may want a touch more brown in the roots the next time, but I am going to see how how I like it being brighter than I thought. Medium brown red copper is very vibrant!
Nice Colour, and easy to apply although compared to other similar products it is a bit expensive. I would happily sign up to the repeat plan if it was a few pounds cheaper.
I have had my first colour on for 3 weeks And it is holding well , I always have trouble with quick re growth on my grey roots , but I would expect this to be better as it is more expensive than high street brands
I have tried just about all the hair color products, they have all made me feel like the only way to get a good hair color was to pay over 100 dollar for it. Unfortunately I can not afford to pay $100 a month. Esolon is great so happy with it for a fraction of what I paid a styles I got a salon result. 3 week since I colored my hair and still very happy with it,
Loved the way it looked initially, but found it went slightly orange after time. No problem though, just change the mix to less orange and more red. Brilliant!!!!
It's great colors good very convenient coming to your house but $20 each Time I color is just a little pricey not bad just a little pricey but it's great and I like the color
Although the color is great, and this product is easy to use, this last application seems to be fading faster than previous applications. I used the same amount of time to process, and I only shampoo twice a week. My gray at the temples is showing sooner than expected and the color doesn't seem as intense past the first week or two.
Have you changed the formula? Suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
I had tried a few different hair dyes but noticed that my scalp would become unbearably itchy - the kind of itching that once you started there was no way to stop! I was such a novice, I didn't know that it could simply be the ammonia in the formula. I switched to eSalon (great deal!) but noticed the same itching. I did some research then spoke with the color consultant. She was so helpful! She told me that my custom color could be re-formulated WITHOUT the ammonia. I was game for one more try. My 'new' color arrived on my doorstep in 3 days and I immediately colored my hair... And then I waited. 1 hour - nothing, 1 day nothing. Hurray -no itching! What a relief. I love this product. The ease of ordering and application AND great customer service. Do it!
YA know how after three weeks box color can make your hair dry and brittle until its colored again, this does not happen with Esalon and my hair just looks so natural. Feels nice too.
Its the only color I will use on my hair !!
I found the colour thoroughly covered all my grey (never usually happens!) and I love the fact that it doesn't 'bleed' when I wash my hair. The colour has lasted well. The only down-side is that it has a very drying effect, so I'm using a lot more conditioner on it now.
I like the hair color. It covers my grey well and looks very natural. Would have rated five stars if it wasn't for the cost with shipping and handling is too much. I may be shopping for another product soon to save shipping and handling costs.
I did receive the color that I had asked for on my first order, noticed that it did go on much darker than I had anticipated. Sent e-mail and update on next order to send a lighter shade. Order again came as I had asked. Again, after applying , the color was much, much darker than I had anticipated. It could just be how my hair takes color. The product does last for a good 6 months but does fade during this time frame. The rest of the package was very nice having, stain remover, stain guard, shampoo/ conditioner and gloves.
Used for almost a year now and it's the best hair color I've ever used although it does fade a little after a couple weeks. Have to use enhancing treatment.
In the setup eSalon asks how much hair you have. And then ignores that information. The color itself is fantastic and I have recommended it over and over to dozens of my friends. But if you have waist length hair, you should get more color. Period. And no, it shouldn't cost double.
I have worn my hair red for several years. When I used to go to the salon, even though she would write down the color she used it was never the same color twice. Since I have had my color mixed by eSalon I have had consistent color. The first time I ordered they contacted me and I sent them a picture of the color I wanted to obtain. They were spot on. When I wanted t o go redder I told them to intensify by two shades and they did. My only complain would be the price of the glosser I get. They gave it to me for free and got me hooked, but it costs $10.00 per application (in addition to the color). I feel that is really pricey, as that is what they charge in a salon.
The hair color i choose in the beginning was a little brassy, i had no problem with the colorist when i asked her to change this for me, my very next order was exactly what i asked for & i never have to go out to shop & worry that my color won't be there.
My custom color looks very natural. Until the grey starts to show at the roots most people don't know it's not my real color. My only disappointment is that the color fades quickly. Red doesn't have very good staying power. Really love the ease of home delivery and knowing I have a consistent color every time.
I love the color that was custom made for me. I took a star off because second week after application, the red on my hair turns slightly lighter to a lighter brown. Other than that, I love the color when applied and love how my hair is not dried out from coloring.
Since I started growing gray hair, I've been trying to get back to my youthful brown hair. I have tried everything you can do at home and I have had (too red) failure after (too dark) failure. When I saw the eSalon ad on FB, I figured I had nothing to lose (plus there was deal for first time users!). I sent in my picture and told them the color I wanted. Medium brown. They also ask your skin tone which seemed kind of weird but whatever. A couple of days later, I got an email from my colorist saying the color I chose was too dark for me and would I consider going a shade lighter. Foiled again! Even though I had never met this woman, I trusted her knowledge of hair color and decided to go a shade lighter. A couple more days go by and I received my bundle in the mail. It is lovingly packaged and comes with specific directions on how to apply your color. This isn't your typical hair color. You don't just apply it all over and hope for the best. I had to separate my hair into four sections, apply to my roots first, then apply to the rest of my hair. The result? Perfection. Maybe a touch darker than I wanted after the initial coloring but that went away after the first day. Every time I have colored my hair in the past, people have asked me "Did you color your hair?" This time, nobody even noticed. This stuff easily and perfectly covered all my gray and was so natural looking, nobody noticed I had done anything. I am so happy with this product. I'm sure I will continue to use it as long as I am able. And you should too!!!
eSalon has made coloring your hair idiot proof. Excellent instructions and illustrations, what more could a consumer ask for? There is one small issue I have and that's the processing time. All hair is not the same, I'm Black and my hair takes longer for the color to take. Other wise two thumbs way up.
I've been a customer of eSalon for almost a year now. The service, timeliness of orders and products overall are excellent! My only question would be in regards to my every 8 week color order. Often times after completing my color application, there seems to be alot of the mix left (which has to be discarded). And often times I feel like my roots need a quick touch up in between my every 8 week color application. I purchased and use the Color Kiss touch up cream and it's great, but temporary. I'm wondering if there is a way to divide my every 8 week color in half to receive partial every 4 weeks? Not sure if this makes sense but thought I'd pose the question while I'm writing this review. Thanks again for great service and a wonderful, cost effective and convenient way to color my hair!
The new formula without the red in it was a bit darker and didn't have as much highlighting as with the red. As usual, the color was kind to my hair and looked great. I did decide to go back to the previous formula.
If you have a sensitive scalp that reacts in the salon and you want to have soft wonderfully coloured hair then e-salon has your answer. Boxed dyes are fine once in a while, but over time my hair begins to feel, look and react like straw. The salon dye is too harsh for my scalp. E-salon offers your in between. A great product for only slightly more than the box, but a whole lot less than the professional studio. I have yet to be unhappy with their product. Sometimes my colour descriptions have not been delivered as ordered, but they correct that right away no questions asked. If you say, " I am purple!" They fix it asap.
very easy to use but coverage on very white hair at temples could be better. My hair is blonde so can carry it off and it looks natural but not sure I'd be happy if my hair was dark.
Although the color is still not exactly the way I want it, everything I explain to the colorist that I want, he always makes the adjustment in an effort to give me the most satisfaction for the service. That goes a long way in my book!
HELLO, WELL AFTER HAVING RECEIVED MY PRODUCT ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET MY HAIR COLORED ON SATURDAY 26TH. AS I MENTIONED WHEN I CANCELLED THE AUTOMATIC SHIPMENT, I HAD BACK SURGERY SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, SO I HAVE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A GOOD DAY WHERE I'M NOT IN ALOT OF PAIN. AS JUST SITTING UP IN A CHAIR LONG ENOUGH TO GET THE PRODUCT APPLIED IS HARD AT TIMES, & THE SHAMPOOING OUT OF THE COLOR TAKES A BIG TOLL ON MY BACK AS I DONT RINSE IT OUT IN THE SHOWER AS IT WILL STAIN THE WALLS, SO BENDING OVER & USING THE SPRAYER ATTACHED TO THE FAUCET IS PRETTY HARD ON MY BACK. BUT, NOW TO THE GREAT PART. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT THAT WAS FORMULATED SPECIFICALLY FOR MY HAIR NEEDS. I HAVE USED VARIES STORE BRANDS & ALSO PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS PURCHASED AT SUPPLY STORES AND NOTHING COMPARES TO THIS PRODUCT. MY HAIR HAS NEVER CAME OUT SO SHINY, SILKY AND WITH SUCH GREAT GRAY COVERAGE. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE FORMULA THAT WAS MADE FOR MY HAIR BY ANSWERING A FEW QUESTIONS & SENDING A PHOTO. I WANT TO THANK THE PERSON WHO FORMULATED MY COLOR, TERRIFIC JOB. I really like my new color next time I would like to get it not quite so dark more of a light brown with the copper and Crimson. Love color because it last a good while and is easy to do.
I loved the color and it matched my hair perfectly, only downside was that it needs to be left on for more than 20 minutes, which was the indicated time. I left it for 40 min and the gray coverage was good. However, I still see some grays closer to my side burns. I think maybe next coloring it will take more. I have resistant grays! Overall, product was way better than store brands. I will continue to use this product.
This was my first time and I was nervous. My hair appointment is tomorrow and I didn't cancel it yet just in case I had screwed up :) but I just washed it and WOW - it looks great! This is going to save me so much time and $. Awesome. But now I have to come up with an excuse for why I have to cancel tomorrow. Cough cough
The color is so my natural color that when I get my hair cut the hairdresser doesn't know its colored till I tell her!
People think I am younger than am. I Love esalon and have told my friends but they rather pay hundreds to go to a salon???
