Incorrect color descriptionMy natural hair color is light blonde. I purchased the Dark Blonde 7.1 color. It looks like a light brown. The color I received and dyed my hair with was the exact same as my natural hair color. I had people even ask if I lightened my hair. Definitely not ash blondeTurned my roots a coppery orange. I had indicated in my order that my hair pulled red. That was either missed or not taken into consideration when compounding my formula. I did report this and customer service issued a credit for another kit. Not the color I wantedI really wanted to like this service as it’s very expensive to go to a salon nowadays, but the customer service and quality is not what I hoped it would be. I reached out asking if there was a place I could upload inspiration pictures to so my stylist could see what I was wanting. I unfortunately got an automated response saying to upload pictures of my current hair, which I had already done. I figured I would just go for it and see how it turned out without inspiration photos, but it’s not at all what I wanted. The idea of this service is great, but I see problems with the execution. High hopesCovers greys well but the colour faded quickly and was much darker than requested. It is difficult to maintain copper, but I expected a better lasting colour. Fiery dark red resultI normally use ammonia free hair dye like Herbatint or Naturlique. I decided to try esalon as colours look vibrant. Waste of timeFirst box I had the colour came out way too dark. That was May this year. Ok, no biggie I thought. They have free colour adjustment. So that's what I did, I asked for more copper, lighter shade. Less brown, earthy, more vibrant. Simple enough, right? Except I waited 5, YES FIVE, months for that "colour correction" set. I just did it today. Nothing's changed. They literally sent me the same stuff as before. I haven't coloured my hair in between, to be able to certainly get the colour I wanted. Yup, not going to happen apparently. I'm going to box colour. Smells more of ammonia, but at least I don't have to wait 5 months and come out with a wrong colour. Gingers beware! Poor grey coverageI was very disappointed with the grey coverage of this permanent color. Color performed more like a semipermanent rather than permanent which I selected to ensure grey coverage. This product covered only about 25% of my grey with the other 75% transparent and clearly visible. Came out light redI did this on virgin hair with highlighted ends. Instead of medium blonde I got a light copper red on the virgin hair and something like medium-ish blonde on the tips. Problem is it looks gross- roots aren’t supposed to be warmer/lighter than the ends. I followed the instructions and did the ends last, but seeing how awful it looks on the virgin part- the majority- makes me think whoever mixed the color (Samantha) just picked the wrong color. Incredible presentation but mixed resultsSo, I will preface this by saying it was fully my own fault for misunderstanding what colour I'd receive based on how dark my base hair was, but it is true that I wasn't satisfied at all by it. When I contacted customer service to express this, not only were they incredibly reasonable but upheld their colour guarantee promise and listened to all of my concerns. I do intend to try this product again and will most likely review then to confirm my thoughts, but solely based on this experience I would just want to inform anyone with about medium brown hair that this shade (medium brown red copper) will be very very subtle on you. Perhaps that's what you're looking for, but I truly just wanted to have a brighter red copper shade, which is why this is 3 stars. The packaging was as beautiful and well organised as the adverts suggest, the smell of the product was much milder than box dyes I've previously used and the texture of my hair did generally feel brilliant after. Unhappy with how the color turned outI tried esalon because my sister has been using it for quite some time and likes it a lot. If you want a normal shade of hair then I'm sure esalon is fine. However, I was definitely looking for something more vibrant and had uploaded a picture to show my faded, brighter copper color. From the choice of esalon's pictures online it looked like my choice would match the roots I currently had and that I choose a bright enough color. However, my first warning that I would not like the result should have been the email from the colorist saying they wondered if I wanted to go even lighter because they were afraid the color I choose was too dark??? I said I would like the lightest copper possible based on the example I uploaded. The result was my hair went to DARK COPPER instead of light copper and even though the company offered me a free color because I didn't like how my hair turned out I have to strip this color out of my hair because I cannot use a lighter color as it currently is. Now I would like to say that the dark copper is a nice shade, and I've received a lot of compliments, but it is not what I wanted. I believe the colorist didn't include the right developer to lift my color more. The lady that used to do my hair used a higher developer. Won’t wash outI liked how easy it was to order a customized color and the cute packaging. The color was more or less what I wanted. I got a demi permanent which is supposed to wash out after 24 washes. However, it’s been 80 + washes using mostly clarifying shampoo, and my hair isn’t back to what it was. Wrong redI wanted to like this but no. First, the color was too runny after mixing. It was dripping down my neck. Second, I told the colorist to stay away from the bluish dark red. Unfortunately, that’s what I got. It’s way too dark and no bright red like I asked for. Third, the entire step where you have to mix the remainder of color with water and dump on your head then massage in…that was an entire waste of time and ended up being one big mess. Colour came out Black not brown or copper or red.I've been with esalon for a while now and never had any previous issues with the hair dyes I have had so this is a first. I opted for a colour change dark brown copper red which was agreed with the colourist. Put this onto my hair within 2 washes the red faded and left a cool dark black overall colour on my hair (not happy to say the least) Black hair does not suit me or my skin tone. Sent an email via customer services, no response, rang the customer services explained the situation and how unhappy I am, the person who I spoke to was rude, no customer services manners/skills at all (work on that) I was then offered a free colour which I declined no red colour is going to sit ontop of black hair so your alternative was not accepted, I asked for a refund which I was granted, however due to your mistake and how unhappy as a consumer I am you should of as well offered me a gesture of goodwill, which you did not do. Poor customer services. Unhappy customer due to the colour not being correct I can even upload you a photo of the black hair if you like to show you this hair dye is not the colour its suppose to be (black) which I did not order black. And long time to deal with my enquiry had I not chased it up myself. NOW I'M BALDI woke up the next morning and had a big ball spot in the top of my head. Had to cut all my hair off because I couldn't cover up the bald spot it was so evident. Color didnt match with my natural dark brown color and grays are not coveredI have a dark brown hair with few grays which is the reason i dye my roots mostly without full coverage. The amount of the product included in the set is more than i needed and i put everything in the color bottle into developer i had to use it all at once. I should have combined the color and developer outside of the developer’s bottle. But then i had select roots coverage only so I thought the amount would be customized for that too. I could definitely used it two times then could have been well worth assuming it actually worked. I ended up having a red hue in the roots and where i used rest of it randomly in my hair i have now dark red highlights without any coverage in grays. I added a note and pictures for my second order as I still want to give it a try and if it works better this time i will update my review and continue my subscription. Otherwise i will have to cancel it. Also i added the new root concealer like a powder one with my order which is completely useless for $18. It doesnt stick on the hair itself but the scalp only. I end up having a big dark mark in my scalp while grays are visible and looks so obvious. System doesnt allow me to submit a review for that item.. but wanted to mention about that here as i had high expectations based on its price. Overall the box the set comes in very appealing made me feel very special and the root concealer comes in a high end durable container with a mirror but both items in my order didnt meet with my expectations. If it worked i wouldnt care about its high end price too but if i will end up wasting my time and money without satisfying results then no reason for me to stay as the customer. It’s not covering my grays wellThis product was amazing at first but that couple of orders I’ve been applying it intensively to my grays and it’s not covering well. My hair turns into this brassy ugly brownish shade after two weeks. And yes, I use the protective shampoo regularly, stopped using any other products. Worse hair color EVERI’m a natural blonde. I was sent an email that they were adjusting my hair color. I did exactly what I’ve done numerous times. I got out of the shower. My hair is almost black/brown/gray. WTH. I called them very upset. I can’t leave my home. I’m so pale my hair is way too dark. Someone definitely didn’t know what they were doing by adjusted my color from a blonde 7 to 10. I have court Tuesday. This better get straightened out. Don’t EVER adjust my color ever again. YuckWhen I stared with the company we worked on the color. It didn’t take long before we got the color I wanted and the softness and shine It was even better than I thought it would be. After several years passed something changed. My package was the same but not the results. Were different. Now my hair is dry and unmanageable. But my color stays the same. Customer service shipped out a week late then blamed on meI knew I was going to have a tight timeline so I planned to have a shipment a month in advance. My custom color was shipped out on August 28th when I scheduled it for August 21st. Even with the 1-3 day processing time this was by all means late. I was berrated and argued with by an unempathetic customer agent. I’m doing a cross country move and now am going to be 4 weeks past due by fault of esalons logistics. Pathetic color outputI used the color on my hair before such an important event.I washed my hair after color and saw, that My roots were still all white and gave a red color shade just as henna.I was so embarrassed at the event as everyone was laughing on me that what I had done to my hair.And the hair became so rough and entangled. Color is completely wrongI don’t like to leave negative reviews but this color is nowhere what I thought I’d be getting and it’s way too expensive to be this far off. I don’t know what caused it, if it’s the color design or the product, but I was supposed to have a copper/auburn and my hair is basically maroon. My roots are almost black. I get color closer to what I want for $8 at Target, and now I’m stuck with this unless I want to fry my hair even more. Really expected better for the price. Permanent colorI asked for no ammonia and they never looked at the last comments and proceeded to give me ammonia in my color. Just okayWasn't as happy with the color as I thought I would be, After 3 days I had grays showing again. I also noticed in the shower how bad it stripped my hair of any moisture. It didn't leave my hair feeling good at all. I however loved the convenience of the whole thing it just seemed easy to mix and apply. I did not like how long it had to stay on my head but hopefully it's because the stuff in it was more gentle (I don't know) sure did not smell that way. I am just being completely honest. There was nothing that made me think this was any different from store bought products besides the price being more expensive. Excellent colour, but doesn’t lastI was excited to try this as I’ve been using box dyes since I was a teenager and had never quite found the right fit. The instructions are clear and the resulting colour is excellent and exactly what I wanted. But I’m sad to say by the time the refresher came around my whole head needed doing again :( not sure if it’s due to the summer sun or what but a refresher doesn’t quite cut the mustard. DisappointedI was hoping to touch up my ginger roots. Usually i go to the salon and get a nice orange like ginger color like really nice red head. And now I just fucked up my hair with this custom color. I filled everything in on how i would like it to be and in the end I am stuck with a fucking orange ish brown. You can still see where i had my grown out roots and overall it’s not at all what i requested. So just gonna have to go to the actual salon and not this basically more expensive online drugstore alike box hair dye 🥲. Definitely do not recommend for ginger colours. Tried it twice, wasn't niceI got the offer that came with 2 sets of color. The first application, I followed the instructions, and my roots actually ended up lighter somehow. It did make my overall hair shiny though. Tried the second application today, kept color on for 45 minutes, and my roots still didn't get to the "dark brown ash" color.
