With my first order I was not impressed at all with the gray coverage or the texture of my hair. The second order arrived damaged and I received a replacement promptly. I was still on the fence but my third application after adjustments made by my stylist blew me away. The first time I have ever colored my own hair with absolutely no brassiness, even in the bright sunshine. Perfect coverage, and it looks completely natural. My hair is also soft and shiny! So glad my stylist convinced me to keep trying!

I was devastated when my L’Oréal color (red penny) was discontinued so I decided to give esalon a try in the hopes that I could find a match. I was able, with the help of their colorists, find a perfect match and it covers resistant grays much better and generally is a more quality product. It is more strong smelling but I guess that’s why the color is holding much better. It’s a win and I’m a convert.

I seen this advertisement on a site i was on and decided to try eSalon, Ive been coloring my hair since I was 18, I used Nice and Easy 98 or 101, the reason I started is bc my natural hair color is dirty dish water blond and I hated it, well Ill be turning 55 in aug and have seen white not grey hair up front like my dad did ,well I decided to go back to my natural hair color and i took the hair quiz and they sent me exactly the color I wanted! Dark blknd with gold under tones, Im glad they sent 2 bottles, one for roots and one for the ends, my hair goes to me tail bone its that long i had to use the whole 2nd bottle! I absolutely recommend this website to anyone looking for a new hair coloring option, as for me, I'm sticking with eSalon!

I have some extremely stubborn coarse silver hair that rejects root touch up literally every single time. I've learned to deal with this, but what it does cover comes out looking soft and silky and healthy!

This colour covers well, last a good amount of time. May need to tweak a bit as this time it’s come out a bit red but easy to contact & change. All in all best shop colour so far

I loved the customization of this product! The process was easy and understandable, even for a novice. The packaging is great... love the sticker to hang the instructions on a mirror. My only negatives are 1.) I didn’t get as much of a color change as I was hoping for.. but this may be remedied in my next order? And 2.) when you have the ends and the roots bottles you almost need three pairs of gloves, the third for the rinsing aspect at the end to keep hands clean. Overall I’m happy with the product, but am curious if I will get a better color change with my next box.

I like this product. Though the first time using it all over left my hair very dry and brittle, the touch ups on my roots haven't done the same so it could have simply been the formula not mixing well with my damaged ends. The only thing I've noticed is my touch up color seems to be much lighter and more red (going over greys) and needs to start getting darker. I believe I have the ability to tell my specialist each month of any changes I may need. Loving Esalon so far and it's worth it compared to box dye quality or salon prices.

I have been using this service for the last 4 months and I am in love! The packaging is superb, and makes coloring my hair so easy. The color itself makes the condition of my hair even better than it was before and is always so vibrant and shiny and soft. I sent a goal picture to my stylist after the first coloring and when I colored it with the next kit it came out exactly like I’d hoped. I will be sticking with this service for a long time!! My only gripe is that since I’m in Sweden, I have to pay import fees for it now. But even with them, the product is still absolutely worth the cost!

It takes me awhile to try something new, even if the old is still not working.
After reading a lot about e-salon and seeing very good reviews,
I still stayed with the old until I didn't.
So I took a leap of faith and filled things out.

I decided to try eSalon after a 4 or 5 day mental debate. I placed my order second guessing my color choices. Upon arrival I was excited, took the product to my bathroom, put it in the closet and there is has sat since January 18,2021. I felt like there was no hurry since we are in the middle of "The Pandemic" and I had recently retired but I was actually not convinced. I had gone to a high end salon for 35 years. Today, I woke up, felt great and thought, "Lets do this", and I did!
The process was very simple and relatively quick. I have shoulder length hair that is fine. The result is exactly what I wanted, it was easy (follow directions), the color is perfect, you have a new customer! I will be sure to tell all my friends/colleagues who are waiting to go back to work to check out eSalon. You should have a first time offer or encourage all the satisfied customers you have to refer by providing a way to give a new customer something of value. Just an idea!! I am sure people are looking. Thanks!!!

Bought this as box colours I've used didn't cover my stubborn grey around my hairline. This did the trick and although there are a few lighter hairs it covered almost all my grey and looks very natural. Chose neutral light brown and this is how it's turned out. Packaging not very glam and gloves a bit small but that didn't affect the final outcome. Hair left in very good condition.
Hello, I had naturally blonde hair that had gotten a bit darker over the years and generally always got highlights, but every few years went red as I love the colour, on eSalon I picked a red and did it a few weeks ago, red has never stayed in my hair before, salon or home colours, I have always had to get it redone pretty soon after, however this red has completely won the test of time and the grey is still even covered, it is slightly too dark for me, but I got exactly what I requested, I would definitely order again but make it a little lighter x
I ordered my first kit for root touch-up and the color was ok, but a little darker than I would have liked. The colorist immediately updated my personal formula and am excited to see the results with the change in formula. Professional color at a fraction of the price!

This is my second esalon order. The first time my colour turned out beautifully but I wanted a little bit of red added to the copper blonde mix. My colourist then mixed me a tailor-made colour to do just that!
The kit has everything you need for vibrant, believable colour. The first time I used it it faded rapidly but it normally takes red colours a couple of goes to really take. At first it seems intense but after waiting 72 hrs before washing and then one or two washes later it settles into a beautiful, natural, multifaceted colour. You just can’t get that with supermarket dye. There is one colour for your roots and one for your ends to avoid “hot roots” as most people have naturally cooler and lighter toned roots . Shout out to my husband who I could never have done it without though. If you have long hair it can be difficult so a helping hand is much appreciated!
I have very thick, coarse, hair that is halfway down my back. I have resistant greys also. My colorist of six years moved away, so I started looking for a replacement. I was searching for salons and saw eSalon, and figured I'd give it a try.
I was pleased to see two bottles of color, one for ends and one for roots. I had never brushed color into my hair and honestly I made a horrible mess of myself doing so. Fortunately, the product didn't stain my skin and I didn't need the stain remover. I was worried about having enough product but I actually had some left over. I used the bottle method for the ends, and that was much easier for me. When it came time to shampoo, I looked at the packet very skeptically because it didn't seem very large. I was very pleased that it was actually enough to wash this pile of hair - very impressed. Not as impressed with the conditioner, I felt I needed more. I have a leave-in I use and combed my hair out using that.
My worry was that I would get very dry hair, and that it wouldn't be as shiny as it was, but I'm very pleased with my results. I did miss a bit at the crown - again, brush was not for me - but everything else came out very nicely. I believe that I'm going to be saving myself about $75/month from here on out. Kudos.

Hello I just wanted to add my praise for esalon. I absolutely adore the richness and tonality of the colour that I have consistently got by using esalon. SO much better IMHO than the UK/Irish competitor (also luxe end of the market although not custom colour) who is good but not close to the professional results I get from esalon. I actually prefer the results from esalon than the colour I get from my actual salon: it looks more high-end. After lockdown ends I am going to attend my salon for hair cuts only and am going to stick with esalon. Keep up the good work!

I am so happy I decided to give eSalon a try. I have been coloring my hair at home for over a year now and can never find a color match from the store and if I did happen to find one sorta close the next time I went to buy they didn’t have the same one. Very frustrating.

Long lasting color that doesnt fade

I have lots of experience dying my own hair with store box hair dyes, but, you get what you pay for. They always start out looking fine but always turn brassy and faded.
I saw an ad on Facebook for esalon and I thought I'd give it a try. It seemed like a good compromise between spending $100 at a salon or $10 at a store.
I chose the darkest brown color available. It did a great job covering my gray roots (I'm 47 and have thick streaks of gray in front. My hair is also extremely thick.). The color didn't fade between coloring even though I waited two months to order again.
The next shipment I requested a change to dark brown mahogany. It came out exactly as I expected it to...dark brown with a mahogany tint.
I am happy with this product and I will keep ordering my hair dye from esalon!

I love my color. It covered my greys My hair actually had no colour. When I would ask people what colour my hair was, they couldn’t answer. It is now close to my original color. I missed my red. Now for a highlight
This was my first time coloring my hair at home in a very long time. I found the instructions very easy to follow. I'm grateful I bought the color tools kit because it definitely helped. I loved the packaging and how everything was beautifully package and felt tailored for me. I mostly feel like this was a positive experience, but there were some negatives. It definitely took me longer to color my hair at home than at the salon. I will assume this will get easier as I color more. I also didn't like that the chemical smell was extremely intense when I washed it out in the shower. It was so harsh that it was making my eyes burn and was hard to breath. I have had the color in for three weeks and I already see a lot of my grey coming through. Normally, my grey does not come through so fast. I also have found that my hair has become extremely dry. I will try another round of this product, but will probably go back to the salon to get it professionally done.

Really impressed with the eSalon service. As much as I love my hairdresser, I have found the cost of having to have roots done every 6 weeks has become too much. I'd used a semi-permanent shop-bought dye part way through lockdown and have always resisted doing a permanent at home colour myself as find my hair ends up with too much red in it and/or can go far too dark. After filling in the online questionnaire and selecting my colour, eSalon contacted me to say they thought the shade I had chosen might be too warm so had toned it down.
I did the colour last night and am really impressed. While I think it might still be slightly too warm, the result is the closest to my natural mid brunette that I have been in years (I went for a Medium Brown 20VOL with Pearl). The colour is really even throughout and all my greys (of which there were A LOT) have gone.
Only reason it's not a 5* review is the smell of the 2nd bottle. Oh my days!! It was such a strong ammonia smell when I mixed it. It made my eyes water. Thankfully this hasn't lasted & it's a lesson learnt to have the bathroom window wide open next time.

I have tried several different boxed brands and salon color and they never turn out just right. My hair always pulls a red shade, which makes coloring it blonde very difficult. I sent my colorist a picture of what I was hoping for and it was an exact match (red/auburn). My hair is healthy, shiny and beautiful. I won't use anything else!

I have been an eSalon customer for a few years. Prior to eSalon I would visit a beauty store, find my color and buy all the necessary other items to color my hair True, eSalon does cost more. (it comes with everything you need, plus mailed, no need to out and purchase.) The difference in the color from local beauty store vs. eSalon is eSalon has tailored the color specific for ME! Instead of a 6R, I have a multi-color combination specifically created for me.
When I get my hair styled I will hear multiple comments "how gorgeous my hair is." I smile when I hear customers say "I want the color she has :). "
Often when I am out shopping I will hear "love your hair color." I smile and say thank you. (Only I and my eSalon expert know that the color is supported by eSalon color.) The color looks natural. My hair shines. Looks full and healthy.

I really like that the colors are "customized" in that you are not given a higher developer than you need. In times when it's hard to get to the salon, it's tempting to turn to box dyes, but I have always found those cause more damage than is really necessary. The kit does come with everything you need to color your hair at home, but I found the color (medium blonde) to be orangey. I asked for an adjustment, but was sent the same color with more neutralizer, and my hair still looks like it's been in a peat bog for 2,000 years. That said, this is still a better result than I usually had with permanent drugstore dye in times past, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my next adjustment.

i am reviewing over a year after applying the first color so it may not be as thorough. i did use foil. the color that appeared after i rinsed was warm gold dk brown. i was just happy that my gray was covered. made a huge difference. i did not think i would like it as much as i did. the second box was a little different. a lighter mixture. i applied this color also wrapping each piece of hair in foil. i had so many foil pieces that i missed a few important spots. i did like this lighter color even more. I am looking forward to my next box.

The first time it was not really the color I was looking for. After some contact with the customer service, they adjusted the formula and I am quite happy with the result. It is a nice color, even my hairdresser complimented on my color last time I went to cut my hair.

I have been dying my hair using a shop bought box dye for about 15 years. My colour had become very uneven it was very dark at the ends and I could never get my roots to match. I bought esalon after seeing an advert on Instagram but didn’t expect much as my hair was almost black at the ends. How wrong was I? The results are subtle but amazing. The ends seem to have lightened and my roots now match the rest of my hair. Customer service is excellent too. I received an email back within a few hours. Would never go back to a box dye again.

This time the colour was slightly darker and seemed to have more different times but the result was much nicer. Think I'm going to keep using esalon when lockdowns over. Highest praise to the colourist!
The dimension of color achieved with only my first application on the roots only was astonishing. When I first saw the ad with all the tones in a full head of hair I thought it would take a year to achieve that with mine. Now I see that beginning already. It's so beautiful. Never again will I use an opaque, flat tone box color off the shelf!

When the kit arrived I was very pleased, the packaging was lovely, especially as it was personalised. I had never coloured my hair before as I had always gone to the salon, and I was nervous about doing it myself so it was a case of I’ll do it tomorrow!
I said this for about 2 weeks, well, today I took the bull by the horns and after reading the instructions cover to cover again, I went off to the bathroom. What can I say, delighted, look like my old self again. If you try this product, I would definitely send pictures of your hair colour as I feel this is what helped my personal colourist select the right colour for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I went through cancer, then chemo through this Covid-19 era. After my hair came back as a completely different color, I wanted to see the old me in the mirror.
They perfectly matched my original color.
I’m sticking with this company. 🥰

Aileen does a fantastic job of putting together my hair color. Exactly as requested. I've colored my hair, both at home and in the salon. This color is comparable to my salon colors, but so much cheaper. The store bought color fries my hair, resulting in my hair looking unhealthy and inconsistent color results. This doesn't happen with eSalon. With Covid, it's a no brainer.

I was dubious about using this product and read many reviews (good and bad). I have dyed my hair at home (including using bleach) for 20 years. I'd say I'm a pretty good hand at it and have therefore only gone to a salon a few times, for colour, in my life. Don't get me wrong, I've done the mad dash drive of shame, wearing a woolly hat in summer, to the supermarket/chemist many a time!
My hair, before I used this product, had a brown box dye over dry and bleached hair. I was trying to go darker but it wasn't sticking all over. It looked a bit silly to be honest!
I am so very impressed with the hair colour and whole service. It arrived quickly, and clearly a lot of time and thought has gone into the packaging and branding.
I initially thought there wouldn't be enough product, as my hair is shoulder length but thick, but I even had some left over. When I buy in the shop I always get two - putting the price on par with what I've just paid - and just have enough.
It has turned out the exact colour I asked for!
I also had a different bottle of colour for the ends, which I thought was a nice touch, and showed that the colourist understood the current colour situation of my hair when I ordered.
My hair is now soft, shiny and a lovely colour. It definitely is better than shop bought and, if you follow the instructions (which are simple), I can't see how you could go wrong.

My biggest concern was I'd not have enough product to go through my hair. I have thick long hair and colorists never mix the right amount in a salon. This kit had plenty of product and the colour matches what I expected. I did hope for a slight change based on the advertising but can't complain due to the lovely rich colour recieved. Requesting an amendment was easy... can't wait for my next color to come to see how it turns out.

I'm someone who's worried about buying box dye because I don't want my hair to dry out and I'm too broke to spend 200 bucks at a salon every month. It took a few tries but my golden brown is amazing and I'm in love with it.

I'm really happy with my most recent color. I am also impressed that when I had some difficulties with my initial order the company made it right. My only critique is that I don't feel like the gray coverage is quite where I would like it to be. After carefully following all instructions and purchasing the coloring tools, I'm still experiencing some gray at my roots.

I believe this is my third kit from eSalon. I loved the color this time -- a mix of reds and gold amidst the brown. I got many compliments. The shampoo and conditioner may be my most favorite though. It smells divine! I did let the colorist know my grays are more resistant than I thought. I've had this problem before and had to add a gray additive to my color in the past. It's also pretty messy to use at the end. I decided to chance the shower and didn't have a skin reaction but had a time getting rid of the color in my standing shower. Otherwise, it's a great product and works similar to my Schwarzkopf Color Ultime.

I decided to change my hair colour from a light blonde root stretch back to my natural brunette , box colours always go too dark , I choose deep mahogany and it’s perfectly fully covered the blonde and the professional shine only achieved by a salon

It took me a few months of tweaking to get the color I wanted and to get the hang of applying the color in a way that colored my roots without getting it onto the rest of my hair strand (which would make my hair too dark). Focusing on my roots has been the key to having a result I am happy with.

Not a fan of boxed colours, so I gave you guys a whirl. Perfect match colour, great service,lovely package, all at a good price,so thankyou. A very happy hairdresser!!
I am so pleased with the color. With all the lock downs I waited and waited for the salon to reopen but they kept pushing the dates back. I was so grey I wouldn't leave the house. I colored my hair today and crossed my fingers. I have to say I look just like I left the salon but this time with money in my pocket. This will be the only way I color my hair from now on, that is, if the color lasts and doesn't fade. That's still to be determined. My daughter who's 12 said it looks great, just like the salon does it and the color was perfect. Cant wait to see how it holds up in the next few weeks before my next shipment. Thank you.

I just received my personal colour box !! Have to post this review now because I’m impressed with how fast delivery is with this company only received shipment email 2 days ago !! Also the way it’s presented in lovely packaging with my name on the products, will do another review when I apply the colour .
I was really concerned that this color wouldn’t match my previous salon color. But my colorist came up with the perfect match! Negatives were the smell(stung my eyes) and the consistency, a little too watery to use w brush. Looking forward to trying the highlights next

The customer service is top notch. With my last color application, my hair came little darker than I wanted. The colorist made some adjustments to my next order along with different application instructions. The tweaks made all the difference. Prior to COVID I only had my hair professionally colored. (Spending about $1500/year on hair services.) With COVID things changed, with ESalon I might not ever get my hair professionally colored again.
