Started out goodThe first color set I ordered was excellent, lasted a long time and was the color I wanted. Just okayI was super excited about a custom color little did I know it wasn't what I had hoped for. The process was cool with the colorist and what not. The color I wanted was a mix between light brown and medium brown with no red or brassy color. So thick it would not come out of the bottleExtremely disappointed with this. This was my 2nd shipment of this color, and this time it was super thick. It would not come out of the bottle! Had to take the top off to apply it. So thick it did not cover my head. My hair got so tangled afterwards that it took me hours to comb out the knots. My roots are 2-3 shades darker red than my ends.My hair is two separate colors. I’ve never had this issue with a boxed color. This is my first time trying esalon. Not satisfiedHi I am sorry but, I loved you product the way it made my hair feel was great but there wasn’t enough to cover my head so I ended up patchy and it didn’t change my hair color at all, you couldn’t tell I colored it. And I wanted more brown than red and it was a brighter red than I wanted so I had to go by store dye because I was going to a party and all you could see was grey. Too redI liked the overall coverage and the degree of darkness but it was way too much of a red tint for me. I would prefer that it be more my natural dark brown than red. I had been pretty bleached out from the sun over the summer so I understand not going too dark too fast, but I feel that the more natural lighter tones to my hair are dark caramels and chocolate tones, not the red auburn. Problens with MixturesColor was great. Had an awful time with air in the bottles of the two color mixtures. The cream solutions both had air bubbles in them. This caused mixing issues. Dark brown or black?I usually if not ALWAYS have an AMAZING experience and I will continue to recommend people to Esalon.... BUT I did ask to go back to dark brown. I know this, my hair is black. It is not dark brown. Like it look almost jet black! I have to leave it in because my next alternative is to go get it professionally stripped out. My hair would be so fried if I did that. So I'll leave it but I'm so disappointed! If I wanted black hair I would have asked for black. No thanksWanting to try this during Covid I was sorely disappointed. I asked to speak with a colorist before ordering and was told I had to place an order first. Ok. After placing my order with the exact color levels my stylist uses with the exact ratio and submitting a photo I reached out to a colorist. I was assured there would be no problem. I was notified of my color formulation and the ratio was off with too much brown. I called again. I have red hair and they were sending me 75% brown and 25% red. The colorist I spoke with exclaimed, "oh, you want it more red". Did anyone look at my pic or read my requests? I tried the color anyway as I was desperate. Thank God I only colored a small test piece. Mud brown with no gray coverage. My hair would have been ruined with no way to get to my salon and have color correction, let alone the damage done to my hair. I made another call. Gray rootsI applied the color as per instructions. It looked good I was so happy to color my gray roots .... but after just two washings the color washed out !!! My roots were a color I couldn’t tell you what it was . This was the second time this happened. No saturationI'm actually cancelling my order because I've tried it twice now with adjusting the color, and I still wash my hair one time, and the color is gone. I'm very dissatisfied. I think I would do better with using Sally's or Amazon and picking my own hair color. I'm very very dissatisfied. Too DarkI wanted to cover the gray root on the color that I had. I selected the correct colors. Changes were made based on a very, very, very, old photo that was still in the system. Left a lot of grayI was disappointed that it didn't cover a lot of my gray hair. It also was not the color I expected it to be. My hair didn't feel bad after so that's a plus. Ordering New ColorThe color I ordered the first time was good, and looked as I expected. However, I don't understand why I need to send a note if I want to change my color. Why can't I just go back to the color chart and make my own adjustment without "sending a note" to someone? If I could get back to the color chart and see what I ordered last, I could figure it out from there. But since this is not an option I will likely never buy this product again. ExhaustedThis was a first color so recommended process was all over roots first followed by all over color. I am 58, have arthritis, and Iive in a small apt with 2 cats so Took about 20 min to get prepared, old t shirt, old towels, space for kit etc, cats away, etc. I have long hair. Applied root color without much difficulty. Unfortunately removed gloves before the processing was finished so had to put them on again for all over. Not easy. The final step in the shower is a total mess. Color goes everywhere. Took what seemed like forever to get color out of hair and then I had to clean the bathroom! As I said I have cats and can’t risk them getting this on their paws, licking them and getting sick because I didn’t want to live with gray root. As for the color and coverage, it’s fine. Not what I wantedNot sure if I chose the wrong color based on bad representation pictures or what!?. I believed I had ordered light brown with a bit of mahogany. I even left directions that I did not want an unnatural color, and that I would rather have more brown than the mahogany Color. What I got was ghoulish mahogany. Straight up mahogany!! No brown undertones at all. In the sunlight it was purple! I feel I could have done better with box color. Once ordering the color, you could not look back to review your choice. Not using last boxI have not yet use the last box that I received earlier in September. I had noticed recently that my hair was falling out a LOT more and when I went to my stylist and had my haircut she indicated it may be the color that I’m using. I have not changed anything else! I use Professional color Protect shampoo and conditioner. I use a professional styling gel. I blow dry my hair very little. My diet has not changed in any way in the last year. Not for meI ordered the coloring in August, but I did not do it until a few weeks later (9/12/20) and it came out with two colors. I had lighter color on top and on the bottom was darker. I had a make an appointment to get my hair done on 9/19/20. I am sure this work for other ladies, but it was horrible on my hair. I had to wear a hat or a headband to cover. Not so good on covering the gray...I was a bit disappointed after shampooing my color application.“touch-up”, that the coverage on the grays wasn’t that great. The color itself was, I believe, good, but after leaving it on for a good 40 minutes (actually 10 minutes more than was recommended) I still saw gray strands???
