This is 1st time that I tried online color service. I wish the color would have taken a bit better with new gray hair thats coming in. I did like the fact that I had NO scalp itch or sting at all. That is a first.
For YEARS (20?) I went to high end salons for color treatments. All the same - stylist evaluates current hair color, plays chemistry in back room, applies new color, I'm out at least $125. So, I thought, why not try ESalon? I always watched the stylist apply my hair color and thought to myself "Why can't I do that too?" What have I got to lose? I completed the questionnaire on my hair and sent them a head shot picture. In a couple of days, a lovely box arrived! It looks like a present! Easy instructions made especially for MOI! Everything I need to apply hair color comes with this kit: 2 Pair of gloves, small color safe shampoo and conditioner, AND something I can't remember ANY stylist doing - applying a stain guard before color! I used to hate it when color got on my face or unwanted areas and they try to wipe it off! Well this kit comes with a STAIN GUARD and STAIN REMOVER so I'm not having to rub so hard to get a stain off. I got in touch with a color specialist a few times to change up my color a bit and they listen and give new instructions when applying new color! I purchased some hair clips, timer and mixing bowl. I could use any plastic bowl, but this one is like the ones used by stylists and its easy to clean. I keep all my color accessories in a zip lock baggie in my bathroom. What's interesting is that since I've started using esalon - I get compliments on my hair color! Really! I never used to get compliments when I paid through the roof. I highly recommend trying esalon. They want you to love your hair!!
The color is great I get alot of compliments and I love the way it seems to revive my hair to look shiny and healthy, the ingredients,are so much better tgen store bought and the color lasts longer. I just do a,quick root touch up in between with store bought my only improvement would be if a small bottle of root touch up came with the poduct.
I liked that the product was picked to match my picture. The product was super easy to apply. The directions were concise and simple to follow. I liked how the product was packaged and that gloves, an application brush and even a sticker so you can hang up the directions for easier reading were included. Now for the downside. My hair was very dry and full of static following the application. It was not shiny. The color looked natural, but it took about a week to start looking and feeling softer. I started using a leave in product that I already owned and that did the trick. Overall, I am pleased with the results. I will use the product again.
Right out of the box you know this product is going to be better than that other 'boxed' color. First the gloves;heavy weight, and 2 pair. Who does that?? Next stuff to protect areas you don't want the color to color, example; your forehead and neck. The color is smooth, creamy, mixes well in the professional kit cup. The color is beautiful! One problem I do see, instructions say only 5 min on last 'pull through' of color through colored hair. That was not enough for my stubborn hair. I leave it 10 min. Lastly, an added touch; a wipe for any stray color you may find...I almost never have to use this! Over all, I enjoy this product, and the support system behind it. They stand by what they sell!!
I like the color and the coverage for my resistant gray is pretty good. I also like the color guard gel and color removal gel you get. Not sure it’s worth the $25 by the time you pay for shipping
Hi this color made my hair darker & ashy, I don’t like it, i thought it would make my hair lighter than my previous order, I made the change hoping it would help my roots be lighter than the previous order. Can we correct this now. And go back to my first order. Help :) I don’t want to wait to my scheduled next order.
I have been coloring my hair at home using commercial hair color since moving to the UK from South Africa. I have been interested in the eSalon products back home but delivery to South Africa was too expensive. I decided to give eSalon a try and wow. I have been blown away by their service!!!. The website is easy to work through, I suggested what color I wanted my hair, and sent a picture so they could see it, The color they sent me was perfect, Unfortunately I didn't follow the instructions properly and used the second bottle for another root touch up, which obviously failed.... ESalon were so great and helpful and sent me more color to fix the problem.
The product is beautifully packaged and comes with the color, gloves, shampoo and conditioner packets, pair of gloves, the stain guard and stain remover . I highly recommend this hair coloring kit. I will never use any other color product again.
I admit it does cover Grey's and seems to last longer than when I go to my hair dresser, my ONLY complaint is my hair is long, past my bra line in the back...and I never get to color my entire head, i have to use very sparingly also because how thick my hair is. So I just wish when they asked about the length and the thickness, they would supply enough to cover my entire head. Store brands I have to buy 3. So when I say SPARINGLY, I mean that to the umth degree!
Picked a nice color for my hair looks very nice would love to keep the color they mixed for me but go a little lighter with highlights during spring & summer time.
Plenty of dye product (even though my hair is now very thick and long). Gives excellent grey coverage and fades pleasantly over time. My only serious problem is the scent, which is far too powerful for me. I tend to get a bad headache afterwards, so put off the job longer than is ideal.
I can no longer afford to color my hair at the salon (hello, economy). After seeing these ads on Facebook and Pinterest I decided to try it. First, I have coarse, thick hair so one bottle never really does the job and I have had some really bad luck with at home color kits in the past. I wasn't too hopeful, but thought I might get lucky.
I got the kit about a week after I ordered it. I decided to try it on a Friday night incase anything went bad, I could fix it over the weekend. It took me a total of 1 hour to color, wash, dry and style. (So why does it always take all day at a salon??) DId I have to do emergency fixing? No need to!! It worked GREAT!!! It even covered all my hair - with only 1 bottle. (My hair is roughly between my chin and neck length at this time.) Added bonus - my hair is super soft. I NEVER get that at a salon coloring - it's always dry and I have to use hydrating shampoo/conditioner. My first color was a tad bit darker, but as all colorings, it lightened a little with the washings and is now great! I updated my color preferences with the stylist and I am waiting for my next shipment. I will never go back to coloring my hair at a salon again. This works WAY BETTER and it works better with my budget.
I love the color and appreciate the stylist calling to make sure that it was the correct color. This was my first time using eSalon and definitely not the last.
I love how your Hair color that blends together into this really AWESOME and so dimensional color.... its just such a WOW factor!!! I would give it 5 starts and above but my only complaint I hate to say this but I just cannot stomach the Ammonia odor anymore...it is just too strong. I have never done a full Permanent color on my hair yet....only did semi perm color in the past years and no odor at all. I sure hate to go back but I have no choice. If you ever develope the outstanding color that you offer but with no Ammonia or a much lower dosage, PLEASE let me know, I'll come running back. Thank you for such wonderful color!!! GH.
Having to use 2 boxes of over-the-counter coloring kits in the past, I had reservations about the amount of product in the Custom Hair Color kit being sufficient to color all of my very thickly rooted dreadlocks. My concerns were in vain. The initial Custom Hair Color kit included a color bottle specifically for my thick roots, another for my locks, shampoo, conditioner and was more than adequate; covered my dreadlocks with great results. The subsequent Custom Hair Color kit containing 1 color bottle, was also quite enough to refresh my roots. The results? I can actually run my fingers through my hair and feel nothing but soft, bouncy, healthy locks - no tangled roots! My hair has a healthy shine, great evenly toned reddish-brown color, and firm, tight bouncing and behaving locks! I'm not sure if it's solely the custom color, shampoo, conditioner or a combination of all products in the kit that gave me this incredible shiny-softness; never experienced my dreaded hair like this with the OTC coloring kits. Glad I found eSalon!
I have been coloring my strawberry blonde hair since my health became poor about 10 years ago. Multiple surgeries and medicines were leaving my long hair dull and grays started popping up everywhere! One strand would be the beautiful silver strand that's desirable, but the rest, yuck! I tried bunches of colors, at the salon, which was ridiculously expensive as my hair is waist long, and at home. I even went as far as going through my moms old text books from cosmetology school and started ordering stuff from Sallys! Maybe 2 weeks of coverage and always too brown, too blonde or just orange. When I tried eSalon for the first time, I was hooked! It was perfect!! I'm a lifer now! Never going back and when I get complements, I say eSalon!
My last shipment was misdelivered, I let the company know and they replaced it for me. I am very pleased with the hair color and will not go anywhere else.
All you need is this product and you’ll look like you Came right out of the salon! Except it will cost only a fraction of the hundred plus you will spend in a professional salon!
I always struggle with home colour and did a bit with the first steps when doing roots. (It's a dexterity issue). That said the instructions were clear and result fabulous.
I thought the overall process was easy to use and I liked how the products are customized to fit your needs (products for roots and ends) which you don’t find in store-bought boxed color. My hair color is a natural medium brown but I had dyed my hair an ash blonde that was at the ends (ombré). I ordered the red brown hair color hoping it would cover my previous hair dyeing and it did! My only concern was the red brown tone made my hair more of a red. I’m assuming because of the blonde already in there. I did put that information in the order, so while the custom hair color isn’t perfect, based on previous reviews, they will change the formula to fit your hair’s needs. I would use it again.
I like the product. It's just finding the right shade for me. The colors on my computer must be different as my hair color isn't the same as the pictures.
My colour arrived after approx a week which was quicker than I thought. The application process was easy, the product didn't have a strong smell like a lot I have tried.
My hair after felt amazing, I was worried after seeing other reviews that it might feel sticky but I'm presuming others can't have followed the rinsing process properly. The colour wasn't 100% what I was after, slightly too warm and a but darker however I requested a refund and received one immediately. I could have had a replacement but I'm going away so it wasn't worth it.
I think I will try this again and ask for some adjustments as I was so impressed with the ease of this process and how good my hair felt after.

I loved it but it did turn a bit brassy when I was out in the sun so much. But the colorists are working with me to change it a bit. But all I get are compliments on it. I love that it is semi-permanent so I don't have the root grow out and so far it does cover the grey. Very happy with it.
I loved the color kit, it really has everything you need, including two pairs of gloves and a coloring brush! The color was not quite what I was hoping for... I thought it was going to have more of a violet hue to it, but it was just a medium brown. I might order again and adjust the color next time.
Although I hate coloring my hair myself, this was fairly easy, the color was great and the shampoo and conditioner included were excellent. I am now on a 4 week auto delivery plan.
I love this dye. After years of colouring my hair with shop-bought and always feeling like it all looked quite obvious, this dye really looks natural, even if you've gone for a non-natural colour. My ONLY criticism is that when washing the dye out, your hair feels really waxy and weird. As long as you persevere with the shampoo, the waxiness WILL come out and your hair will be soft and shiny, I promise! I love the whole thing so much though, that the waxiness isn't worth deducting a star over.
I was in shock! It is so rare that anyone gets my hair color correct and you managed to do it with just my description. Sweet. I told you if you got it right, you would have a customer for life. You win! I wouldn't change a thing!
You got it right, red hair is not easy to match but eSalon got it right for me.I will always get my color dye from eSalon because it looks natural and stunning!
I'd like to say this was a great experience as it was blended specifically for me but was so very red that I looked awkward. Wanted more violet which they don't do. So I was a clown a few days. Bright screaming red.
But the conditioning, the smell of beautiful chemicals touching your hair can smell they're healthy. So grateful for the private mixing for me! Because of this conditioning these "chemicals" do, I want to try another shade next time more like the Auburn 5.64... Or perhaps a personal blend of Burgundy Red this time. No more violets at this time. Incredibly excellent Customer service.
Love the color and coverage, I would like to say that makes my scalp a little sensitive. I'd love to go a lighter shade but I know is not possible. What about intensify the copperness? Make it look more orange.
I do not like going to the hair salon not only because of the price but for the time.

Are you kidding me. Could no longer afford going to my hair stylist anymore. Tried over the counter color kits for about a ear, then found this. Went to her to get my hair cut, and she was amazed. Said, "you done good girl",,,,,
The colour is great and it covers grey well. The colour lasts longer than most hair dyes and my grey does not return for several weeks. My hair does not feel as nice and smooth and shiny immediately after dying it but this only lasts 24-48 hours.

This was by far the scariest yet ended up being the best decision - ordering my hair color from esalon.
It lasts longer, ( I feel kinda like a pro when my box arrives ) and i never have to think, "oh dear, i forgot my dye at the store". every 7 weeks it just shows up. I pay far less annually compared to a store bought product. The store bought, I would have to do every 5 or 6 weeks.
My stylists, all of them, have commented "I love your color job, who?" all i say is "esalon.com"
I really love the team behind this product. I sent them a picture of my bright red hair color, told them what I wanted, and to my surprise, they PERFECTLY matched it. I was extremely happy with the fact that with red being THE HARDEST color to get to stick, whenever I washed it there wasn't much bleeding. Unfortunately, after a month, the color had faded to an ugly nasty orange color. I've gotten better results from using straight bright red color pigments like found in SPARKS then I had from using this. I'm going to try one more time but have added the color gloss this time. Hoping for better results. Will update when I know.
I love this product mostly because it don't have the strong smell after coloring your hair.... But, the hair conditioner could be a little better... hair seems a bit course afterwards. Still the best of all the hair coloring products I've used
I love the customizable color! It matched my roots perfectly. This color is so much better (it covers better and lasts longer) than those you can get at the drugstore. My only reason for 4 vs. 5 stars is the amount I end up throwing away. I need probably half the amount provided and it kills me to waste it... I wish there were different "size" options.
I love this company You can talk to them if there's a problem they do respond quickly the only problem was the color I was so excited, I thought I explained what I wanted .But it just turned into darker Brown than my hair was I lost all my red highlights I was looking for a lighter color .I was so upset. But The company and the other products of received are great the conditioner I use excellent the dye used was even excellence it just wasn't the color I still get complimented on my hair even though it's not the color I was really excited though hoping that maybe This would work but I'm hoping maybe the next one will
I used to spend about $100 a month on my hair.I am not a person who can really afford to do that. But at the same time, I didn't really want to have a full head of gray hair. I had tried store brand hair color, but one day one of my students told me that I looked like Oprah. I love Oprah, but I am a white girl with brown hair! When I finally saw an ad for eSalon, I decided to try it, and I have never looked back. It costs me about 20 bucks a month to do my hair and I do it the exact same way my salon lady used to do it. I am very happy with the quality and service of this product .

I so apologize for not writing a review sooner! e-Salon truly saved my hair coloring dilemma! After losing my job during the great recession, I had to cut professional hair and nail care out of my budget. I was 58 yrs old at the time and decided to let my auburn hair grow out to what would be my now natural grey color. It grew out as a very washed out blonde color that took away all vibrancy to my face. I then started buying the commercial "color boxes" L'Oréal/Clairol/etc. My satisfaction level with these products was 0. I found e-Salon on Facebook, cut a small portion of my younger son's hair (he has my same hair color), and matched it to the color that I am using to this day. I just turned 65 and still have my beautiful shade of auburn. It's a very consistent product and costs a fraction of having it colored at a salon. I thank the professionals at e-Salon that mix my color and send it to me when I ask. Bravo!
This is my 3rd order. The first I placed was too dark. A small adjustment was made, and now my color is dialed in to my natural color, covering the grey. Delivery is convenient.

My first batch of hair dye didn't make a huge difference in mellowing out my extreme ombre (which is understandable). I contacted esalon, they made some adjustments, and the color came out beautifully.
eSalon color gave a more natural finish to my hair than my previous color. I wish it cost less, but it seems to last longer than my previous color too.
Ok, so I am unwaged and choosing to commit to an online delivery service was a big deal. Initially I was going to accept one delivery under the special offer available and then cancel. I am unwaged, a single parent and never spend money on myself. But this hair colour is so lovely, multi tonal and easy to apply it has become my one luxury ! My only issue is even though I said I have very long hair ( past waist length ) , I do not have enough conditioner .I will keep getting this as long as I am able .
I know I'm not getting any younger but I at least want to do something with myself to make me feel young especially when my grey hair starts showing on the top of my head and plus this is like going to the Salon in your own home I just wish the colorist can come with it.
I tried it the first time and didn't really like the color as it faded. So, I had re-customized and it turned out perfect. I have really stubborn grays, but this does a wonderful job of covering. It's just like I left the salon, but only cheaper. Way cheaper. I will stick to buying my color from eSalon.

I was scared to color my hair. I didn't think someone could take my picture and look at my hair and face and to decide what color my hair should be. I chose the color , but they wrote back that they thought it wouldn't look the best that they could custom mix one to look much better. Do I let them. I was so scared to color my hair cause we are talking about red here. I have had some bad salon experiences, but this person only had a picture. So I did it. When I was done and looked in the mirror I almost cried. I couldn't believe my eyes. The color was perfect!
I was spending hundreds of dollars on having my hair colored at the salon. As my grey started to become more prevalent I noticed roots showing up every three weeks. Not wanting to spend my kids' college tuition at the salon, I went weeks with white roots. This is not pretty at 47 years old.
Then my friend told me about eSalon. I saw an ad on Facebook and placed an order. I uploaded pictures and wrote to them about why I started going to the salon and stopped using box color (my hair was falling out and damaged).
I was so impressed with my first color! I have salon highlights so I just did my roots with a brush. Wow. There are so many dimensions to my color. My hair is healthier and has more shine than ever! I love it.
For some reason I did not receive my second order. The eSalon customer service team was extremely responsive over email, and they even called me! They sent a new kit free of charge.

First my hair turned out awesome than in couple weeks later my greys started showing again in the roots. Therefore I had to use hair color from home. Not completely satisfied or I don't know how often do I have to color my hair with your product? I love the shampoo and conditioner that I purchased from you.
The new color that was made for my ends turned out so beautiful!! I think that if you could add just a touch more of the red to deepen the color, it would be the perfect tone I am looking for. The only thing I have a question about is that it seems to fade so quickly. Is there a product that I should be using to help maintain the color longer? I decreased the weeks between coloring to only 6 weeks, but if there is a way to help maintain the color, I would appreciate the help.
I was leary of dying my hair due to the fact that I am Native American and the traditional ways is to let the grey grow. It is a sign of wisdom. I was proud of my grey but one day the man I'm involved with and I were in the bathroom at the same time and I saw he had no grey then I looked in the mirror at myself and saw how OLD my "wisdom" made me look compared to him (he's only a year younger than me) and I decided right then that I was going to do something about it. So I mixed up my coloring that was designed for me by ESalon and took the bull by the horns!! I could never be any more happy and satisfied with the way it turned out. And I am still wise because using my color from ESalon was a very wise choice. Thank you ESalon and my personal colorist for making me look younger and feel beautiful. ESALON YOU ROCK!!!!!
