Dull and lifelessI wanted some of the brassiness to go down and what the result was is a very dull grayish brown looking color. Nice colorThe reason I gave a rating of 3 is because the color only lasts 3 to 4 weeks. I was hoping for at least six weeks. Doesn't cover gray 100 percent. Positives are good customer service and everything needed is in the box. It is pricey because you have to add shipping cost. Didn't cover grayI love the color but it didn't cover my gray hair this time. I did everything the same. Mix together applied for 30 minutes. Rinsed used your shampoo and conditioner. Do not purchase if you have long and thick hairDo not purchase if you have long and thick hair - I didn't had enough product to do my whole head even though I mention in the form that I had extra long hair + thick hair. I also send a note right after receiving the box mentioning that and the message I got back was: "Your first order with us contained two bottles of hair color. One bottle for your roots and one complimentary color refresher for your ends. This was to ensure your first application of hair color was seamless from root to tip. And your future orders will contain one bottle of dye to use as a root touch up. If you love the Custom Ends Refresher for your long thick hair, you can always log into your account to add it to your Plan. You can even select if you would like it to ship every 1, 2, or 3 orders!" So I thought, ok, they read my email, I guess I should be good. Well I was wrong, color was blotchy and did not stayed in my hair. After 1st wach its like everything was washed away. Pretty Color NOT for gray coverageThe color is beautiful, the packaging, instructions and little details are exquisite, but all around my roots it did not cover my grays, and even fully rinsed out of some places. nothing like the colour I was expecting.I’m no stranger to packet dyes and followed the instructions to the letter but I’ve ended up with a dark reddish auburn and not the golden strawberry blonde I asked for. Thank goodness it is the type that will wash out eventually or I’d be paying to get the colour removed. I asked my colorist and specified in an email that I wanted the original color.I took a break from coloring my hair and wanted the original color. In the email to my colorist I specified that I wanted to go back to the first color that I got from esalon... excited to go back I didnt even look until the dye going in my hair was very dark and didnt look like the first one. I went to my computer and looked and somehow there is pearl added in instead of golden. Easy to use, color was badFirst I ordered the lightest ash brown, and my previous hair was pretty blonde. When I colored my hair it ended up being super dark brown, like espresso brown with red undertones. I was very unhappy, sent notes and photos, and was told it would be corrected. My next color was called dark ash blonde. Same results. Espresso colored brown hair. I don't understand why it is so dark. I've cried both times after I finished dying and drying my hair. Color mismatchI think this was my last attempt with esalon. I ordered a permanent color’Ash medium to dark blonde’. I honestly don’t know where the ash tone was lost. The result is as orange as it could be. I tried to avoid warm colors and now I have it in my full length. I need to go to my colorist to fix this ‘disaster’. DisappointingI have used home dyes for the past almost 20 years and have never had such a disappointing result. There was not enough dye provided to cover the lengths of my hair despite me filling out the my hair is very long and thick. I tried my best to evenly distribute it, but it just wasn’t enough resulting in a patchy colour. The colour I chose was a dark auburn, but the resulting colour had a cool almost purpleish tone as opposed to the warm reddish tone I had hoped for. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Not the color I wantedI'm really frustrated because I thought I was getting a personalized hair color, but instead, it turned out to be just a generic red color you can buy at any store. I specifically chose a copper brown color to complement my hair, but it ended up turning my hair red. What's worse is that it didn't have any effect on my roots – they turned almost black, which is not what I wanted at all. Roots and ends dont match - my hair is purple and redI decided to try esalon as getting my hair done in the salon became too expensive. I sent photographs of my freshly dyed hair and filled out the questionnaire which was great and I was very excited to receive my colour, I had chosen Dark Brown (red/copper). My colour came there was red/brown/copper in my root mix and only red/copper for my end mix and I did a test strand which came out quite red and I was concerned there was no brown in my colour mix. I messaged the support team to express my concerns about the lack of brown. I was reassured that the colour would be okay and decided to give it a go. The result of the colour is that my roots are an unnatural red/purple and my ends are extremely red and I am very upset that it looks nothing like the swatch for dark brown (copper/red) on the website. It was okI’ve colored my hair in the past with store bought dyes and wanted to try something different. The process was basically the same as when I’ve colored my hair before and my hair is pretty soft and doesn’t feel damaged at all which is nice. However, the color itself is soooo wrong and odd that the top of my hair is lighter than my lengths even though the top of my head developed longer. I still saw some greys and I wanted a brown with ash tones, but it’s very red toned at my scalp and while less red as you go down my hair, however still has red tone throughout. I don’t want red tones at all which I thought the ash would help with. Not totally dissatisfied but not the results I was looking for either. Missing productI can not open the color for roots and ends refresh and the developer has been tampered with. The seal was not on the developer all the way and the bottle was leaking. I uploaded a picture on my profile. Opening the color did not work at all. After failing with grip strength I had tried pliers and a bottle opener and the lid of the color has not budged. Didn’t lastMy reason for leaving such a low review is because after using the color on my gray roots, then I also dyed my entire head after two weeks of Use the color has already started to fade. That is a huge disappointment to me since this is supposed to be Highly recommended for gray hair I did everything exactly as it was instructed to a T. Beware!I asked for a demi color and got a demi-permanent color without notification. This left me with a variety of color throughout my hair, lines at the roots a different color than the rest of my hair. And because they switched from the demi i requested IT WON'T COME OUT. I JUST SPENT 3 HOURS AT A SALON WITH THEM TRYING TO FIX MY CLOWN LIKE LOOK AND THEY WEREN'T TOTALLY SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE OF THE PERMANENT COLOR THAT WAS PUT INTO THE MIX. $155.00 LATER it is only partially resolved. Loved the colour at first but faded within 2 washesI loved my initial result but the strawberry/red faded so quickly that I called ESalon. Poor gray coverageFirst I’d like to start by saying the color wasn’t what I expected however it was not terrible and I’ve actually received some compliments, but I wanted to have a brown root with my already highlights with the goal being to secondly, cover my gray hair/re-growth. The color was actually the same color as my highlights so it lightened it and I still had a good amount of gray hairs showing (people didn’t notice but I did). Horrible companySo much for your own stylist to color plan. I did my profile for a copper orange, and received the item only to find out the color is brown. I’ve been a copper for 8years now only to have ESalon mess that up and damage my hair! The product smelled horrible and my hair is now damaged. Very disappointed. Not if grayI was definitely not impressed with the coverage of greys it definitely did not cover them mostly at all. Color is okay but not anything I can't come up with myself. Definitely have darker ends than roots. Could be the poor grey coverage, but I'm thinking probably not. I have had my friend color my hair as she was colorist and hair cutter in NYC for years and she managed to get full coverage with no difference in roots and end color. So I'm thinking I will just cancel subscription and go back to paying someone to do for me that will get it correct I gave 2 stars because i did like the kit having extras such as stain remover and blocker of skin coloring as well as shampoo conditioner brush gloves. Very darkPrior to this colour I was ginger, I asked for a light brown/caramel/honey brown as I didn't want to be a dark brown. I Still Have Grays Around My FaceI still have grays around my face even after I use the custom color set. When I say 'after", this means after I dry my hair after coloring my hair. Not quite what I had in mind... Maybe my description was at fault?.I just wanted to warm up my gray- not delete it. I received a medium blond demi, color that is supposed to wash out. I hope it washes out fast because it looks medium brown on me. I may not have used the right words for what I wanted because this is my first time wanting a change of gray. Never could get color wantedTried a couple times and it seemed like the hair colorist wasn’t listening to my desired hair color I was trying to achieve. My hair was a dark brown and I wanted to get to a lighter brown after 4-5 times it’s still the same brown. They didn’t ever change the color sent except once to a barely different shade of dark brown. I didn’t want red tones and I got red tones in my dark brown as well. Harsh on hair and made my hair brassyI've been using another at home brand and recently the quality had gone a bit downhill so I thought I'd try this. I've done 3 root colorings and I've found this product to be really harsh on my hair, it feels like straw now, and leaves my hair brassy after about 1 week. I specifically listed that I don't want that when choosing my color but it's just not a good product. Colour doesn't showdon't bother buying if you have dark hair. I followed all the instructions and you can kind of see it in the scalp/roots under a light and that's about it. very disappointing. i ordered Medium Brown Copper Golden 5CG and my current colour was third from the right (dark brown / black) and my hair is still basically the same. Color Customly TerribleI went through process and sent a picture of my preferred color. What I received wasn’t even close. My hair should’ve been light medium brown with gold but what I got was nearly a black color. It was shockingly awful black. This company had no remedy other than to use clarifying shampoo and let it grow out on it’s own. Hola if you know how it feels to walk around with a shocking hair color you weren’t expecting. Not what I was expectingMy hair is medium brown and I asked my stylist for as much copper/red tones as possible for my hair as I wanted to look more natural red-head. I knew since my hair was darker that I wouldn’t be able to achieve anything too bright/lighter but somehow the color I used made my hair super SUPER almost neon red. It looks very unnatural and I was shocked at how it got lighter as if there was bleach in the formula? I would have been more prepared and careful about applying the color if I’d known it would make it so bright and the color came out streaked and uneven despite following the instructions carefully. I definitely don’t blame the product for that part (again, I expected the color to come out darker than my natural hair since typically you can’t go from a dark shade to a light shade without using bleach so I wasn’t as careful as I should have been) I just wish it had come out more natural red/ginger but instead I look like marvels Black Widow and not in a good way. Not for meI really wanted to love this entire experience. I love the idea of a personalized color mixed & sent to me esp when I can't get to the beauty store to buy color or I don't have 4+ hrs to sit in the salon while my color processes. My big issue was that they sent me 2 different shades for roots & lgth and the end result gives me an ombre fx where the roots are more rosewood & the lgth is red. Maybe this wouldn't be such a big deal but I hate brown hair on me & I'm likely going to have to have the roots bleached so that when I recolor it will be 1 consistent shade. The formula was also extremely drying & left me losing copious amts of hair for wks. My hair was actually very healthy, all new growth & it's req frequent hair masks & conditioning. The other issue was the odor, it reminds me of hair color 20+ yrs ago, the fumes were so overwhelming I had to put a fan bc it made my eyes burn so badly, I almost just gave up bc I thought it would blind me. Does NOT fully cover graysWish I could show a pic in this review to prove that the color doesn’t initially get full gray coverage. I was extremely focused on really slathering the color around my hairline, where the grays persist the most, followed directions to the T, and made sure no human-error was made. But, this color product just isn’t strong enough for dark brunette, 40 yo, hair. I love the concept of saving money, having good customer service, and easy at-home delivery, but after two separate tries of dying with this color = conclusion is it’s a weak and poor product. Can't get this color back to normal now?!I ordered my very first box in January I finally received it after some time and it seemed to be the very perfect color when I did my roots! I was so surprised until I realized it didn't match with the other bottle first . My roots are actually orange-red instead of being the blonde they should be they don't need to be a bleach blonde I don't understand how I got so messed up from the very first one being spot on my roots and then everyone after that has been wrong please fix this!!! I actually liked the products but I really need it to be the right color!! Otherwise company seems legit and if we could get everything right I'd really like to try different products from them but if they can even get my color right then why waste my money on the highlighting kit..... Very disappointedI hadn't colored my hair in over a year and a half so I decided it was time to go back to red. When I received my order, it became very obvious that nobody had read my color goal notes. I received 2 bottles and was told to do my roots one color and ends another color which seemed a little scary since (like I said) I had no color in my hair so it wasn't as if I was coloring previously colored hair. When I emailed them I got the response of "just use the root color on all the new growth" with no other instructions. Ok...so use one bottle over my whole head for how long?
