I love the color but I have been going grey since I was 20 years old and this time it just didn't give me the coverage that it usually does. I'm still going to use your product and services but I would like to hopefully see a change on the formula or something, I don't know maybe my grey is too stubborn to color, but I know I'm not ready to have a full head of grey hair at 40...
Hair color kit, I must say I love the wider bottle opening for the applicator bottle. Makes it so much easier to mix and shake.
I got to say though I hate the narrow opening on the applicator bottle tip. The color does not come out as quickly as I need for my thick hair. So I snapped the tip and then it’s too wide. Ugh

Changed to a slightly darker blonde with more red (strawberry blonde). Really like the color, have received many compliments! But, only leaving it on for 5 minutes to the rest of the hair after the initial longer time first the outgrowth (roots), it didn’t take too well. The ends were still fairly bright blonde. I decided to get about an inch trimmed off. My last two loaded picks on 12/23/18 are after the hair cut. I like it and will stay with this color for awhile!

New packaging looks nice. The bigger developer bottle to mix in is good. I would only pour half color into the developer bottle and mix thoroughly then put second half in because the original bottle didn’t really allow enough room to get it mixed well (I still did this for this application but probably didn’t need to).
The directions could be a little bigger, darker/bolder. As a 50+ year old, I now need reading glasses. I put contacts in to do my hair so my regular glasses are not in the way, and I’d like to not have to put on my reading glasses with color on my hair to read the next instructions...
The shampoo and conditioner packets are hard to rip open with wet, gloves hands and the section to rip doesn’t allow any product to come out so I needed to get scissors to cut them (I had to do this with the other packages too).
Typically, when I have time, I let the conditioner stay in my hair a couple hours (first wrapped in a towel and then down and combed). I then rinse it out and let it dry naturally for awhile before I blow it out.

Overall, have really liked eSalon and like when I can change up my color (a bit darker for winter!
Pros: No bad smell, does not irritate my scalp or skin, very good gray coverage (my grays are highly stubborn), easy to follow the instructions and use the kit. Comes with everything you need! Cons: I was looking for overall color, but my instructions said only to use on the roots (with the 3 minute color/water rinse for the length and ends). Also, the part where you mix the leftover color with water and pour over your hair was an absolute mess! It got Ev.ery.where! I had to bleach my shower and scrub my body to get it off. It'd be great if there were an easier/less messy procedure. Overall, my colorist Jennifer did a good job, and for my first attempt at this I am pretty happy with it. I will be curious to see how long is lasts, because the color I had been using tends to fade too quickly and too brassy. Thank you Jennifer!
I have always had my hair done in the salon in the past. But freeing my schedule from the inconvenience of trying to schedule and the time spent going to and from the salon was very appealing. The color is perfect. I actually like it better than the salon color my stylist was using. However, my grays do not stay covered for long. It seems like three weeks after I die them, they are gray again.
I was afraid at first to try it, lol was almost afraid to take the towel off, as I have had some disasters in the past but absolutely fantastic results
First time using it at hom. I think I love it. Want to wait to see how it fades and how long it lasts.
Disappointed my kit did not include the highlights. I thought it did. That is what I understood when had my appointment in Hollywood. Also thought kit came with shower cap. It included everything else except the shower cap(?). Missing from my shipment(?).
I have been trying for a long time to get some attention and help with my account. I am in need of putting my auto shipments on hold. I currently have 6 or 7 sets of color. Due to some medical issues I haven't been able to color my hair as originally set up. PLEASE suspend my future orders.
The color was fantastic! The only problem I had was that once it began to fade, it started looking red, but that's because I didn't mention that my hair has a slight red tint to it, so that was my fault!
I've never had a hair dye quite like this, it's gorgeous and I'm getting compliments all the time. The two different colours for the roots and ends really does make a difference.
The only negative I have is that it took me 2 and half hours to apply it all probably as it's my first time and I've thick long hair (length to my armpit). Which as it took so long the colour on the lengths was just a little too dark.
Everything about my order was super except for one thing-----only one pair of plastic, disposable gloves. The instructions mention to put on a fresh, second pair of gloves, but there was only one pair in my box. Other than one pair of gloves, the product was great. I am gonna order again, but I will have a second pair of gloves "at the ready."
I have been using box dye since I was 20 and got my first gray hair. I’ve always been bummed with the results always ending up too dark or being such a weird color. This year, for the first time I went to a salon for color. I paid $300 for a color that was only ok, provided by possibly the meanest person ever. 6 months later I finally found esalon. I paid $10 for my first box and got to decide the exact color I wanted. My colorist emailed me for a picture because I didn’t include one. Then we emailed back and forth because she wanted to know exactly what I was looking for and she even suggested going a lighter shade of brown, to avoid my fear of going too dark. OH MY GOODNESS. this is the best color I have ever used and I will never ever stop using esalon. It’s the perfect shade of brown, with the perfect undertones. The actual process of dying was made so simple and easy by the kit and the color was literally exactly what I’ve wanted for the past 7 years but never been able to obtain. It’s been three weeks since I colored and I still love it. It’s faded a little obviously but im finally not getting that weird red brown color that I’ve always hated. I already can’t wait to dye my hair again and added the color tint and the clips to my next auto ship. Thank you esalon, you guys are THE BEST EVER.
I loved the root color. It was totally what I wanted. The ends color needs to be a bit darker. The complete top of my head is a whitish silver color while the back of my head is about 50 % white. I love the way the ends color gives me highlights but tends to fade out to a lot lighter color then the rest of my head. Sorry about the nit picky.
Great product no strong order the color is true to what you pick a little costly compared to the store if you were to do it yourself but you get what you pay for well worth the few extra bucks
I love the color and how you can have it specially made and shaded. Also how the kit has everything like a professional would use. The highlights are very pretty and natural looking. Downfall for me is, my gray started showing at my side hairlines within a short time. Also small containers for shampoo and conditioner needs to have more and be in a better standable container. I would like a sticker or something to stick on my calendar showing when I did the color and another for when it is due again.
I’ll be sticking with this color for a while, good gray coverage just wish my roots wouldn’t grow in so quickly. The color matches to the quick touch ups I do with another brand, so it’s not so bad
When I first applied the paint it was dark purple, so I had my doubts. But after a while it turned black and a deep black color. Love it.
However I am noticing that it doesn’t cover as long as the first try
I liked the color a lot. I had just some issues trying to color just my roots. I have short hair. So that was an issue. But other than that I loved it. No bad fumes or funny odor
It does stink to high heaven but it is a fantastic colour, and if you follow the rules about rinsing with left over colour it removes all leakages! It doesn’t leak colour at all! Very good x
I don't have any problems with the final color result. I absolutely do NOT like the overwhelming smell of Ammonia! I still worry about using this product for fear that it might cause more harm (hair loss) than good.
**I still have not used the set that was sent out on 10/24/18. What about a 'Rinse' instead of permanent color. I think this would be more 'gentle' on my hair. What is your opinion?
Great kit with all you need to colour your hair with easy to follow step by step instructions. Hair felt nourished after colouring. Only negative was the colour was slightly too brown this time so made adjustments for next order.

The colour is great but I want to know it's side effects on my hair. The earlier colour that I used made my hair very dry. So i want to know if the ingredients chosen in this colour are safe enough to not cause dryness
I've been very happy with the various shades I've tried up to now, but I was not very fond of the last shade. It has an orange tone which I do not like. I would like to return to the previous color or darken it a bit. Anything to get rid of the orange tone.
Very strong smell, not like another brand I use, that has a very pleasant smell while you wait. I got a little light headed sitting in my tiny bathroom lol but overall a good product! Worth the try for sure
This was my first time using eSalon. I was surprised by how dark the color was when I applied it. They said it was light brown but I thought it was more a medium brown. It turned out very well and I ended up liking it in the end. It is so close to my natural color which is what I prefer so that as it grows out the roots aren't terrible. The only drawback, and the reason I gave it a 4 star is because I really had to stretch it to get all my hair done with one bottle. I always buy 2 boxes of drug store brand so I was really squeezing everything out of the bottle to get all my hair done evenly. I told them I have thick hair but I just barely got enough to do all of it. Overall, good experience.
I'm very pleased with the color and condition of my hair with your product, but would have preferred a shade or two lighter.

Thanks for the extra color. With my long hair, it usually takes more than one container.
The only problem I have is my hair. It's fine and difficult for me to wind up into the four sections without it slipping out of the clips. Finding clips without metal is my biggest issue in the rural area where I reside.
Love the color, just need a slight tweak to make it 5 stars!

Like everyone else I went to a salon to have my hair done, when I seen your ad I wanted to save money and time.
After I did the color I was very happy with it and glad that I ordered it.One thing I didn’t like is that they didn’t ask me if I wanted to have the money come out automatically.First time customers should of had a choice to do it once then if they liked it order again when they were ready to order when the time came for doing your hair.
The color was perfect I did not care for the texture of my hair it was not soft or shiny. Also I lost some hair on my left temple of my head I'm going to try the glass and see what happens. And when we added the water to put the rest of the ingredients it was very very strong I couldn't breathe.
This product goes on very oily and is quite thin so no need to use a brush and bowl. It smells strong, but that's not unusual. I had enough to cover all of my hair. After rinsing out my hair and using the conditioner, my hair was very dry, so I used an additional deep conditioner for another ten minutes. I have had to use a decent amount of leave in conditioner since then. I do not wash my hair with shampoo every day- at the most three times a week.
The color was very dark- almost black at first. In the sunlight it had a violet tone to it. I like it as I tend to like color that isn't "normal". My gray hair turned a pink color. This shade lasted about two weeks and gradually lightened to a decent auburn shade. My hair is close to this shade already, so my roots aren't really showing. It has stayed a nice auburn tone without any brassiness that's typical with a lot of red tones. I wish it had more of the violet tone to it, though, but that's a personal preference.
Would I use it again? I'm not sure, honestly. I don't know how I feel about the cost after the initial sale price. I'm going to give it another month and see how it looks. I usually color my hair about every 8 weeks as my hair is quite curly/frizzy and I don't want to fry it that often.
I really like the product and the color when I first apply it. However, it seems to fade out very quickly. More quickly than other colors I have tried. Is there any way to help sustain the color for a longer period of time?
I am still working on the how to get a uniform color between the roots and the rest of my hair. I think I need to leave it longer on the rest of my hair after it has set on the roots.
Pros: * the survey questions at the website are very especific, so they get a better understanding of your hair without actually having to go there. * Their detailed instructions are so helpful. * There were two bottles, one for the roots and another one for the ends. * I like it when I'm giving detailed information, and this kit explained the percentage of brown, violet and gold tint on each bottle.
Cons: * although the first kit was only $10 + shipping, the second kit is $20 + shipping and it's only for the roots. * There were too much left overs from the roots bottle, and the instructions clearly explained that applying it to the ends would left your hair with darker results ... :/ ... I hate wasting anything. * I wish the gloves were longer, although I always get my hand stained, I hate having stains in my forearms.
Overall is a very rich natural looking brown color, I'll keep with this one during the fall and winter.
This is the 3rd kit I received. The color had to be tweaked a few times and it now matches my natural color perfectly! Great gray coverage and easy to apply. The only downside is that the odor is really strong in the shower when you are refreshing the ends.
Like others have posted, rinsing the color is difficult as your hair tends to matte together in a slippery wad with this hair color. I ordered your shampoo and conditioner and still have the same results no matter what shampoo I'm using. I've used Esalon hair color off and on since 2014. Something has changed with this product --- I never noticed this problem previously.

My ends and roots are 2 different colors. It's been 12 days since I colored my hair and you can barely tell that I did anything to it. My Ends are extremely dry now.
The only reason I gave 4 stars is my 1st color came in a little darker than I expected but all my reds usually do. I always have to go through 1 darker shade before the color specialist understands I want a lighter strawberry blonde. Otherwise the color turned out perfect for the shade they sent. The application process was easy. I recommend getting the toolkit with your 1st order. It helped me a great deal. The step by step sheet they provided me with times for each step was awesome. Forever I have always dyed my hair all over then let it set 45 min. Not with this product. It has you dye roots first, let it set... then your ends, let it set. Then use the rest of the juice and rub it all together and let it set again. then shower. The shampoo and conditioner they provide are great products. They also provided a stain prevention cream and a stain removal wipe. Oh and not to forget the gloves. And did they just throw them all in a box? No... they all came in their own separate boxes. Perfectly wrapped like packages. I was impressed. It was so professional. All for a low cost (well the kit was extra).
It's a long story: basically, I came back to using eSalon after a long hiatus. Last year, I used eSalon after being dye free for YEARS! I was strawberry blonde as a kid, it faded to dark blonde, and I've been trying to color it copper off and on ever since. I loved my results, but was disappointed with how fast it faded. I decided to venture out and find other colors by other companies. Some produced nice color, but we're too harsh on my scalp! When I tried gentler, ammonia-free formulas, the inconsistent color forced me to wear beanies until it faded! I have finally come back to what I knew worked so well for me. I adjusted my color to make for an even more vibrant, rich red than I had before. My hair looks beautiful! It also evened out the previous coloring mishaps still showing on my head! Also, I don't know if the formula has changed since the last time I used it, but it has much better staying power than before as well! I'm pleased with my pumpkin spice hair, and I hope to keep it going for the foreseeable future!❤️
Although the color worked really well in terms of coverage, it’s not necessarily the shade I was looking for and my hair feels like there’s a small amount of residue, which should fade soon.
I like the color. I love the presentation and the step by step directions. The color dries my hair out though. I’ve tried ultra conditioning it, but it hasn’t helped. Unfortunately I may have to give up on esalon. It would be great if they could come up with a conditioner they could add to the color so my hair doesn’t feel like straw when I’m done.
I love everything about it. Except.
I wish this set came with more shampoo and conditioner. Also the shade is a little darker than the sample. I need to adjust the shade to be lighter. At least two shades lighter to match my color.
Love the new shade. But the new bottle is too hard to squeeze with one hand can you reduce the thickness or strength of the plastic as I do not want to use a bowl and brush to colour my hair.
