It took 3 shipments and going up 1/2 a shade but my grays are finally gone. Customer support was accommodating and I'm glad I didn't give up and go back to drugstore dye or the more expensive salon dye.
I can't afford to go back to department store hair color!

I've used department store hair coloring since I began coloring my hair 22 years ago. Mainly due to the high cost of a professional hair color appointment just wasn't within my budget. But also because of the convenience of coloring in the privacy of my own home.
About five months ago I saw an ad online for E-Salon hair color and thought what an appealing idea it that E-Salon color matches your desired hair color, then specially mixes the color of your choice and delivers it to your front door and at an affordable price. E-Salon also sells other products such as mixing kits, capes, shampoos, conditioners & glosses. So I sent a pic of myself to one their Hair Care Specialists, answered a few questions of my desired results, then placed my first order and eagerly awaited it's arrival.
E-salon quickly mixed my color, filled my order and expediently shipped it straight to my front door.
I was very impressed with how accurate their color matches my natural color; I am extremely impressed that their coloring did not dry, nor damage my hair, infact my hair looks shinier and healthier; and I am absolutely thrilled with how long their color last, quite honestly three times as long as boxed department store brands.
I love all of the E-salon's products I've purchased and seriously can not afford to use boxed department store hair coloring ever again. My hair thanks me, I love my E-Salon results and I thank E-Salon for providing me with their products.

I feel the root color was a lot different than the end color. I loved the end color more than the root color. I also feel that I wasted a lot by throwing out the left over hair color. Think that they should come in smaller bottles so you can really pass the savings on too your customer. Overall I think that its a great product!!
I love the color they made. It covered most of the grey but, not all. More than anything ive tried though! And, its lasting 125% longer than any color ive used. It's great!
Fantastic results! Doesn't stink to high heaven--during or after.

I'd only colored my hair a few times before in my life, and that was 20 years ago. But I'm a teacher, and I'm graying rapidly (guess why, ha ha...). I find that I need to color more frequently each year. However, I simply cannot afford to go to a salon every 6-8 weeks. I briefly considered letting myself go all silver, but at age 48, I don't quite feel ready.
So I decided to try eSalon. I am not big on hawking products, but I was absolutely blown away with how well this setup works. I have thick but very fine, silky hair, I wear it about shoulder length, and I'm about 60% gray. My hair took the color extremely well, the process was easy and clear, I didn't need to do or buy anything beyond what was in the kit, and the quality of color is at least as good as what I'd been getting at twice to five times the price in salons. I followed the directions to the letter, and everything came out wonderfully. Best of all, I'm sitting here writing this review and I am not overwhelmed by the pungent stink of my own hair.
I consider myself a serious "beauty dummy." I don't wear makeup and don't spend a lot of time fussing over myself past applying moisturizer and sunscreen. I even had trouble separating my hair into sections--that's how useless I am. But I am sold on this product. The well-written instructions make it easy, the color looks great, and I can afford to continue to do it over the long term.

I love that they try to match color you are looking for. First month the color was too dark, and the next month they changed color to what I was looking for. Love that I don't have to think about it, it just shows up in the mail.
Hair coloring can be daunting. Did I take too long? Did I wait long enough? How much should I use? These questions used to linger after I saw my results, but thanks to eSalon, I never had to worry. All the information is easy to understand, right when you need to have it. Straight forward, and not too much information I didn't need.
I had purchased dermi colour which was not permanent and I was unhappy about. But I was very pleased when I got a complementary box of permanent colour. I am also happy with result.
I switched to eSalon after deciding I needed to curb my spending. I was spending $65.00 at the salon every 6 weeks (just for a single color!) and it was really getting to be too much. I read a few reviews and saw a few ads for eSalon and decided to give it a shot. When my first kit arrived, I was really excited, but also really nervous because I had never colored my own hair before. I was really impressed with my eSalon kit because it comes with EVERYTHING: the gloves, the color safe shampoo and conditioner, stain guard, and explicit directions. I've colored my hair three times now with eSalon and have no plans of stopping. I love how you have the ability to adjust your color as needed and upload pictures of yourself to show your colorist what you look like and what color you are trying to achieve. I also appreciate that there is a "plan" designed for your specific needs. For example: the first kit had me color my entire head (which turned out a bit darker than I expected, but this was my first time coloring my own hair), but the directions for the next kit reminded me to just focus on the roots, since my main goal for coloring my hair is to hide my gray roots. I'm trying to convince all my friends and family to become eSalon customers since it is so awesome and easy!!!
So I've used this product for a couple of months now, in which now I feel I can give an honest review. The first time I used it, my hair was soft and manageable, not stringy and dry like others I've used in the past. My 3rd request was letting eSalon know that I have dye resistant areas at the crown of my head and so they adjusted the formula accordingly and it did well and held, but the color kind of faded out, however it held the silver strands back. Therefore, I do recommend this product and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I really didn't believe you could send in a photo and have someone at a distance develop a hair color for me that I absolutely love. After the first color arrived, I asked that the second time they lighten it more on the golden brown side. They did, and I love my hair color. You should give it a try.
I cannot tell you how happy I am with my Hair coloring kit from eSalon. I didn't know what to expect, and I truly was not very hopeful, considering my prior experiences with internet companies. But eSalon DELIVERS on their promises!
First some background: I have lots of gray at the scalp, (an inch or so over my whole head), so my favorite color, bright red, does not last long; maybe 3 weeks. So I was using more of an ash color with reddish tones, (I do my own hair), almost a strawberry blonde. However, the last two times that I used a box color, the SAME formula I had used for over a year, my hair came out dark with HINTS of auburn; NOT the color on the box or what I had always gotten using this brand. I tried another brand and the same thing happened. So I decided to try eSalon, which I had been contemplating for over a year now.
I sent pictures to them and after going over them, they offered a color I might like. I asked for a couple of adjustments and then I liked what they offered the second time around. They wisely told me that they could not give me the lighter, strawberry blond, that I asked for because of how dark my hair was at that time. However, they told me that they would work toward that color with each successive color they would send.
Well, I LOVE the color they sent! And it lasted pretty long - 6 weeks, which for me is pretty darn good!
Let me tell you one more thing I like about eSalon: They never send you anything you don't want, or without telling you. When the time of my touch-up came along, they emailed me beforehand - they didn't just send it automatically! Kudos to you eSalon!!! All of the internet companies that I have dealt with, do this, which is why I was so hesitant to try eSalon. I have tried three which were totally disappointing and unethical in my mind and I have heard and read this many times on Facebook and when searching Google.

I used to pay $120.00 bucks every four weeks at the Salon.... Now I pay $20.00 every 6 weeks with longer lasting color and less damage to my hair!!! I Love Esalon!!!!
I could never find my natural color in the store (dark strawberry blonde). It was either too blonde or too bright a red. The stylist at eSalon mixed a color that was perfect and looked natural, not fake. Costs a little more than store bought color, but well worth it!
More pricey than store colourants but developed just for you.

I decided to give this a try because of the half-price offer. It was still more than I normally pay for store-bought hair colour (especially with the postage from the USA) but it seemed like something I ought to try at least once. I don't like other people touching my hair so after my first dye-job around 1987 I have done it myself but I thought it would be good to use a salon quality colourant.
I was able to select exactly the colour I wanted which was (very) black with a blue tint. That is what I got. You are also given the option to tweak the colour before your next batch is sent. I was happy with the colour so I did not do this but it's nice to have the option. With the dye you are given the choice of using a bottle or a brush (which is also provided). There is a pre-treatment and a post-treatment conditioner in the pack as well, and two pairs of gloves so that you can put some more dye in your hair in the shower before rinsing.
Despite 30 years of dyeing my hair its condition is still pretty soft but with eSalon I found that it was even softer than when I used store-bought dye and the softness lasted longer. My hair did go a bit reddish eventually but I'm sure that's to do with my hair and not the dye. I was happy enough with the colour and it seemed to last a bit longer, too.
I'd recommend at least trying this the once. I am going to become a regular customer despite the added cost.
The process was exactly the same as the box color from the store. Only with better quality. Would have preferred something closer to the photographs I sent in but I did appreciate that my survey and pictures were actually looked at when formulating the color. Customer service has been top notch. Will definitely order again.
I had to start coloring my hair at age 18 due to gray hair. I have done every color, but I stayed for years as brunette. When I was totally gray I changed to blond through my hairdresser. She moved so I tried a few "over the counter" brands. Finally finding eSalon. I am now 69 and even my new hairdresser tells me how beautiful my hair is. Thanks eSalon.
I have been coloring my hair for over 20 years. I have never hard a color that lasted 7 weeks..I receive my shipments every 7 wks. My color looks and last as if I just colored it when I receive my next package. I will never go back to a hair salon again

I absolutely love the eSalon custom color. I filled out all my information and sent my picture. I received an email almost immediately advising a change in the requested color after the consultant reviewed my picture and details. They were spot on. I have used my color several times. I even stopped and returned to the salon for a few times. After paying $150.00 for my color and cut a few times I discovered I wasn't any happier having this service than doing the color myself. So I went back to eSalon. I again discovered that I love the eSalon color. My hair color is flawless. Your hair is healthy looking and the shine is amazing.
I've never dyed my hair myself, so I was pretty uneasy about doing this. My last couple of salon experiences were major failures. After spending $100+ each visit, I decided, for the price of Made For You, I'd give it a go myself. I couldn't believe how easy it was. The instructions were easy to follow for a newbie, helping to make my first time on my own a success. It's been two months now and the color still looks great. Compared to 2 weeks when the "professional" did it. I feel comfortable recommending this product to others and will definitely use again.
Save your $$$ - eSalon is Better than going to a hair salon!

I've been getting my hair colored for 10+ years, and I used to pay over $100 every 6-8 weeks. Not anymore! The color kit I get from eSalon is EXACTLY what my hair stylist used: custom color and developer. You even get gloves and stain remover wipes! Now I can color my hair when it's convenient for me at a fraction of the cost. And I do a careful and thorough job since I'm doing it myself. When getting my hair done at salons, sometimes I would feel rushed and not sure I was getting a quality job. The color is AMAZING. No one knows I color my own hair -- the color is THAT GOOD. Okay, so probably it's about the same as salon color--but I can do this myself in the comfort of my own home at a tiny fraction of the cost. I apply it to my roots every three weeks and never have to suffer a half-inch of gray just because I can't fit in the time with my stylist.
I am 46 and refuse to let my grays win. I have tried many over the counter products, even had my hair professionally done and the color just didn't last. I saw esalon on facebook and thought I would give it a try. I'm glad I did. It not only covers my grays but it lasts until I get my next order! esalon 1 grays 0!

I gave a description of my hair .. which decided to give me a narrow ring around my face ONLY of almost white ...only a light touch of the salt and pepper type thing the rest of my head . gave the color by Loreal used previously before I began trying to switch to Argan oil but could not get the right color ... added it could be just a touch more red... Brittany nailed it spot on and I am happy with my hair colot again. I've been using E Salon color for about 6 months now, and love it. It's gentle on my hair, the color is great. It covers gray upon application, but like many others, the gray turns a lighter color too soon. Although, it's a lighter blonde color, not gray. You should give it a try. You can always go back to your otc brand if you don't like. it Also, they will make another shade if you're not satisfied with the one you get, so you can experiment if need be.
My natural hair started going white (from dark brown) in my 20s. Now in my 50s, the roots are almost all white on the sides and top. There is still some dark in the back of my head but not much. I color my hair every two weeks. ESalon provides an easy solution. The hair color is very good (but I need to add Gray Magic) to make sure the roots are well covered. If I don't, the roots are paler than the rest (why the 4 stars). The color is very shiny and rich and the hair is very soft and manageable and much better than drug store or other over the counter color. I like that the package comes with the entire kit I need (gloves, stain guard, shampoo and conditioner, stain remover). I only wish I could order at shorter intervals than every two weeks. You can but not automatically. It is the best customized color you can get outside of a salon. (Maybe even at a salon). I recommend it to all my friends. I have been using it for over 4 years.
I've used this custom formula for two years, and have had eSalon slightly modify it depending on the season. Leaves hair in good, if not better condition.
This is the first home hair dye that actually does dye the hard to colour areas behind my ears. Only professional dying has achieved this before. It's easy to apply and fast to work. I love the colour too.
I have been coloring for many years. As I aged there was more grey. Grey that did not want to be colored. This is the only product that sticks to the grey. Thank you e-Salon.
I love the product, it gives me shiny, beautifully colored hair every time. The shampoo and conditioner are also very nice. My only issues are excess packaging, supplies and shipping. I never use the stain stop and stain removal products, because I don't need them, and really only require one pair of gloves, not two. I also wonder if it would be possible to have more product shipped at once to save on shipping costs.
I was sceptical about this being better than the stuff you buy to DIY. It really is superior. Better shade. Hair feels thick and shiny. I have had no end of compliments.
I have been coloring my hair at home for many years to cover white in my dark brown hair. I started with the regular box color, brands didn't matter, they all worked. I moved on to foam when they came out, I found them easier to use & less messy. Eventually both stopped covering my white. It would appear less than a week later & it wasn't outgrowth. I went to the salon twice, and although it worked, I couldn't afford to keep it up. A friend told me about this company & gave it a shot. It worked! It was easy to use & I love the kit that comes with it: 2 pairs of gloves, instead of 1, shampoo as well as conditioner, a prep lotion & a wipe to remove color afterwards. The color is perfect & the white doesn't show!
Apart from the fantastic result - exact colour/ result expected, I've not seen any damage to my hair. Previous hair colour resulted in damage. I tried various product including salon recommendations. I'm staying right here with esalon.

That's what I hear all the time! As a mix of strawberry blonde and redhead box color was a,challenge. So many times I get asked if this is my natural color. I reply as,close as I can get! I then share about eSalon.

Someone said it's "idiot proof" to use this product, and she's right. I prefer a semi-permanent color so it doesn't look like I'm wearing a wig, and my silver hairs are now a lovely amber honey. No one knows that I use a color!

This is the best and most natural ginger hair colour I have ever bought. Even my newest stylist didn't realise my hair was dyed - albeit just to cover grey, not a different colour.
I just did my color a few days ago then went yesterday to get a hair cut. My stylist (who normally did my color also) commented on how healthy my hair was and it looked professionally done.
I recently opted to use a box from the store, rather than wait for my shipment, which reminded me about other brands always staining my skin and my shower, counter, etc. eSalon actually comes with a stain guard and stain remover, which I've never needed to use.... drugstore brands don't come with a stain remover and always stain my skin, and sometimes make marks on bathroom surfaces which need some elbow grease to come clean.
Also great to have a history of what exact color I've used in the past, if I want to go back to an old color, or even be sure I get the same color next time (since they automatically send the same thing unless I ask for a change, and keep history of changes).
My original goal was to get my hair back to its original color so I could eliminate lines as it grew out. That goal has been accomplished! I am now going to try and let my hair go gray. Esalon helped me get to this point without spending hundreds. I will admit I was kind of slow at applying the hair color and ended up leaving the dye on a little longer than I should have. I feel like my ends got damaged a bit. A little trim took care of that, though.
I get the professional treatment in the privacy of my own home. I can adjust mt color with words or photo and they follow up to make sure I am getting what I want.
This was overall a great product!! The tools, the dye and the enhancing tint were just awesome. My problem is that it is just a shade too bright 'coppery' for me, but many loved the color on me.
