I wanted to love itUnfortunately I wasn't able to love my color and ultimately cancelled my account. After coloring, my hair became extremely dry and frizzy. GRAY HAIRI sent 3 emails about my problem. No one answered. I guess you will probably not answer this. The gray on the top hair and the sides are not taking. How did I become Princess Ariel?!My color was described as dark blonde but what happened was my hair turned a very unnatural, uneven red. Then it turns out I was shipped another order as I was on automatic resend. I do not recall asking for this service as I would never get a repeat of a product I had not tried yet and was ultimately extremely disappointed in. The customer service woman was very friendly and although I was refunded for the purchase I was still charged for shipping, a service I did not want! Fades fastIt fades really quickly and it’s not all that dark. I did request an adjustment, so we shall see . *** EDIT*** Lowering the score to one star. I had the color reformulated , it still faded super quickly , when I called customer service I basically got told “tough “. something changedHair color and developer were very hard to mix and kept separating in the bottle. When I washed my hair, this time it left my hair very greasy and didn't cover my grays at all. I washed my hair a second time, and was still unable to remove the greasy residue. It took 3 days of washing my hair to finally remove the grease. I've had trouble covering my grays in the past with this product, but never had greasy hair before. I think it is time to move on. Disappointed!I’m disappointed with my latest color. The roots are more red than brown and there are red tones throughout the hair. The red is more noticeable in certain lighting conditions. suckedI wanted gray coverage with a purple violet color due to dark hair i was informed it would be like a hint or slight purple color which as ex hairdresser and having colored my hair for years I understood due to my dark natural color. However i got no purple at all it was brown and streaked with darker brown and i followed all directions to the letter. it as awful I had to go to salon and pay double just to get it back to one color and due to too much product at once i could not even get my normal color back I had to let my hair heal. What is this???I have used this product 3 times now. First time was amazed with results. The last 2 times I have used this product my hair feels sticky and there is a lot of residue left. Gave me hot roots!Ugh, my roots are now lighter than the rest of my hair and very orange compared to even the ends. Too darkI was so excited to try this product and thought I was getting a lighter color but it turned out darker than I wanted it. It was almost black which looked hideous on me. The worst part was that I colored it the day before a party ending up wearing a bun so it wouldn't be so noticeable. Colour is not light ash brown!I requested Light Brown (Ash) and after placing the order I received an email stating my colour would be adjusted to a colour more suited to me. I don't know why this would be, but I decided to trust the process. I liked the feel of the product and it has a great scent, the packaging is good and the extra gloves, stain guard and wipe are great. My hair feels lovely and is super shiny, however the colour is awful. It has a lot of red tones in it, which I did not ask for, and my greys look quite orange. I avoid any red tones in my hair as I have rosacea and my complexion can be florid at times, so red hair does not suit me at all. I am really disappointed as I had anticipated great things. I Thought It Would Be LighterI am happy with how even and natural the color came out. The only downside is that it isn't any lighter than before, and I thought it would be at least a little lighter, since I chose from the light golden brown / copper family. I would love to go much lighter next time, if it's possible. Grey coverageI love your product for a few reasons but 1 of the main reasons is how great your grey coverage is compared to store bought brands. This time, however, a lot of areas did not take and grey is peeking through. It is especially noticable when I pull my up or back. I was very careful to make sure that I covered every bit of my hair and left the dye in the suggested amount of time. Wish I’d been warned that you can’t go light once you pick a colorIn spite of letting them know that my hair almost always gets red highlights, and I don’t want that. I’ve got dark blonde hair with a ton of red highlights. Since apparently dye can’t remove dye, my new hair color is only supposed to be applied to the roots. That would mean that I’d have ombre hair for the next 4-5 years while it grows out. I’m now on the search for a colorist who can fix it now. On the upside the color is easy to apply and it doesn’t stink. However the conditioner that’s included isn’t very good with snarls. I much prefer Suave Clarifying conditioner. Take cautionEven though they have a stylist mix your color they can't completely, without seeing your hair in person, know what is best for it. I sent info on my hair as well as pictures and after using my first order my hair had a green hue to it...they were nice enough to send me a tinted shampoo which just made it worse..in my opinion...so this is not Salon quality at home, since part of the quality of the salon is being present to fix mistakes... 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Root color is horrible!Although the root color to cover my gray hair, it is way too light for the in color and looks horrible! It came out an orange e red color and my hair is closer to dark Auburn or brown with red highlights. SKIP ITLike a fool I've kept trying it, hoping it would get better but it hasn't. Color fades extremely quickly so my hair changes color week to week (yes, I use color safe products on it and yes, I'm applying the color correctly). I've also found this to be extremely harsh and drying to my hair- I've had better conditioner with drugstore brands. Color not what I would likeColor was not bright enough. I had been using Loreal/Ferria (2018 colors of the Year). Color has more Purple shading & can only remember .mauve in the name. Was trying eSalon , as most reds I have tried fade fast due to not having a N-Brown in the mix. If you can get owe to duplicating the color mentioned above, I would be willing to try your color again as I generally really liked the components. If not I want to cancel my participation & DO not want to receive any further color. Thanks for your help. I have two different colorsI consulted the colorist on the phone. I was excited to try but the color bottles in the box were switched and I didn’t noticed it till I applied the second portion. Disappointed.I really wanted to like this idea, but after my third use of the dye on my roots, I’m very disappointed. The dye leaves a heavy waxy residue on my hair, I had to wash it six times as my hair is very thick. I had to concentrate on small pieces and really scrub it to get it out and I felt like it was taking the dye out of my hair. TerribleHi guys, been using you for years. I emailed to adjust my colour to a dark brown with a hint of red. I even wrote back to confirm and i just did my hair, and it is florescent red. No joke, I look like halloween bad hair dye from an 80's movie! I am horribly disappointed but I also need this fixed. I cannot go to work with florescent hair. Way too darkThe product was way too dark and has ruined my hair. I got medium brown which is what I get in typical box dyes and it went so dark I am not sure how I will get it back to normal. Poor productI have used esalon on & off for a few years. My previous shipment, the color didn't have any shine. So I asked for a little darker color. My most recent color received I used this morning. Followed the directions exactly. While trying to rinse out, it seemed like it wasn't coming out, but yet the water was running clear. My hair was so gummy. Tried drying it. It just got worse. Plus my color was not darker, it was a strawberry blonde. Not what I requested. The color was just dull. No shine. So just rinsed out my hair, but still gummy. Washed it with shampoo 2 more times. Still had that gummy feeling but not as bad. Went & bought a clarifying shampoo & washed twice. InconsitantI follow the coloring instructions to the T and it always seems that my hair looks obviously home colored afterward. Not good for my hairWhile the color is great, I have found the product itself to be quite damaging. My hair is so stripped feeling and bone dry after that I can't even get a pick through it w/o a lot of breakage. sludgey crisco-like substance left on my scalpI've ordered a color set twice now, and this was basically strike 3 for me. Each time this happened before I blamed myself, assuming I hadn't followed directions or something. But I followed them to the letter this time and I had the same issue I've had both times I dyed my hair using the same product previously. Somehow, I've washed my hair 3x and I can still run my fingers through it and come up with white chunks of something sticky in my fingernails. I even mentioned that I had this issue before ordering the dye and the stylist acknowledged that it had been reported by other customers and because of this esalon was going to change the formula. I assumed it had already been changed, but apparently not. It's such a shame, the color is really perfect and I absolutely love the tint rinse but it's not worth dealing with the after effects of using this dye. It takes weeks to get whatever this is out of my hair and ultimately I end up fading the color trying to do so. Bad feelingI tend to go between getting my hair done professionally and doing it at home for 10+ years. I've never had a problem with coloring my hair either way. I enjoyed the simple instructions the kit came with and the fact that they included a second set because I have very long hair. HowEVER.... when trying to rinse it out per the instructions, it did NOT wash out. The water ran clear, before the shampoo/conditioner and after the shampoo/conditioner. My hair was left feeling gummy, sticky, waxy, and just generally gross in every way possible. I couldn't brush it out, couldn't dry it. I could barely get it into a bun or ponytail. I waited 24 hours before washing it again and while most of the yucky feeling came out, it's still there and I am in NO way impressed. The color is also much darker than I anticipated. I have NEVER had my hair feel this way after getting it colored in a salon or at home. I gave it two stars because I enjoyed the instructions and customization, even though I think my color is darker than i expected. Worst customer serviceI received my order and when I applied it the color was the previous color. I was upset since I did go into the salon to have them match the color. I emailed them and got a sarcastic email back. I called and was told they send the correct order. What would I like them to do. When asked to speak to a manager I was told she was busy and she would tell me the same thing. Rude customer service... Fell victim to the gunky gummy residueI spent a ridiculous amount of time rinsing this product out of my hair and it still didn’t feel clean. Used the enclosed shampoo and conditioner. I’ve been coloring my own hair for 25 years and I followed these directions precisely. Tried to dry my hair and it had such a gunky, gummy residue that was greasy and I couldn’t get a brush through my hair. Let it dry and it has this greasy residue when I touch my hair. Got back into shower and shampooed twice, then used conditioner. Got out of shower and it’s almost nearly as bad. Was supposed to go out for my husband’s birthday tonight and I’m embarrassed at how awful my hair looks and feels right now. Really ruins everything. Will NOT use this product again. Extremely disappointedI had high hopes considering this was supposed to be customized colour. I don't understand why it looks nothing like the picture I chose it's much darker on the places I applied second bottle, I'm actually super depressed about it. Didn’t change the color of my hair at allI wasted money on this product and it didn’t even change the color what so ever. Never will I buy again. Washing Color OutI have been ordering from ESalon for 3 years now. I love the concept and the color. However, it is difficult to wash th color out and leaves a sticky film on my hair, for 3 or more days, even after diligently trying to wash it out several times. I also referred my sister and a friend who had even more trouble then me - it might have to do with the water they use. However, we all agree the color and concept is awesome but it is so frustrating trying to wash it out. Therefore I am now too canceling my account. If you ever improve this aspect of the product I will definitely rejoin and I am sure my sister and friend would as well. Please keep me posted. Uneven colorReally beautiful packaging and I was so exited to use it, however even though I paid the rush fee it took longer than expected to be delivered. The color left a brassy red tint to my hair even after the toner that came with the highlighting kit.
