Worst hair color experienceThis hair color option seemed promising. I followed all the instructions (not hard to do since I have been dying my own hair for 20+ years). It just seemed that color was "sticky" and even after using their shampoo and conditioner included (as instructed) my hair felt very weird. The next couple of days it continued to feel strange. Then I finally used a very fine comb with my shampoo and it "scraped" off residue. Then my hair felt back to normal. The color was not at all what I expected. I wanted a dark black, they sent that with some red/purple in it (Which I expressed to "my colorist" my hair doesn't hold reds). Who knows why they sent that. And it hasn't even been a month and it needs to be redone. At least with my Garnier brand I can go 8+ weeks. Not impressed, will not try again. Inconsistent. Clown Red Roots!9/28. Update. Cancelling because they only sent me the right formula once of five orders and would not just send me the right one again despite phone calls and emails. The last one was just brown (no red) and left my hair sticky and coated after 3 washes! Switching to Madison Reed. Adjusted my color after I had clown red roots. Great! ...for one month. Then they sent me the shitty color again (after I confirmed they would send me the new formulation that actually worked.) They assured me it was the right one. Nope. My hair looks ridiculous. Alix cannot follow instructions. The inconsistency is making me cancel. I loved the color that was the right one. Wanted to Love ItUnfortunately this service did not work for me. I have resistant grays, which I specified when placing my order. I selected a color initially, and the colorist said that it would be too dark, so I agreed to something lighter. Because the color was so light, it did not cover my roots....at all....especially around the temple area. Additionally, after using the product, my scalp turned red and bumpy. It just so happened that I had a dermatology appointment 3 days later, and the doctor said it appeared that I had a reaction to the color - this has never happened before. Now I have a color kit at home that can't be used - I thought I had stopped my service but apparently I did not stop it in time. I love the idea of this service, but unfortunately it did not work for me. Way too dark and didn't cover graysI really am trying to like this product. I have used it three times so far and they've all been a fail. Color is way too dark even after asking them to lighten it and worst of all, it didn't cover my grays. I end up with hair that's different colors on roots and ends. Oooooh, that smell! :-(The smell was strong from the start. But for Step #4, stepping into the shower to apply the leftover color and massage to a lather, the strong acrid smell was overwhelming! It was too harsh and unpleasant. Once I was able to rinse thoroughly, it was fine again. Yuh know what, I also realized that I DO NOT like coloring my own hair to this and other reasons. The opposite of what I asked for.I really hoped for this to work. I understand that the color chart can be a little deceitful and each hair type is unique, but I specifically added a note in which I stated that I want a color as close to my natural as possible, that I really dislike rusty undertones and want light ash color with as little brown as possible. Disappointed - Not my requested colorBecause red is a hard color to maintain, my color faded into a reddish-blonde. This was expected. But I just redyed it and there's hardly any copper and my hair is brown. I understand that I was sent a root touch up, but because the red faded, my roots would in no way match the rest of my hair. Made my hair sticky and waxy!This is my fourth order. The first 2 came out great. The previous one came out with some stickyness but nothing I was too bothered by. This time my hair was so sticky and waxy that over 3 days I had to wash my hair 7 times to get it somewhat soft and manageable. I still think it needs another wash before I feel like my hair is back to normal. I don't know what changed but this formula is just not someting I am willing to try again. Poor directionsI finally had a chance to color my hair, it took a while because I hurt my right shoulder and can't lift my arm over my head. Anyway, this is the 3rd time using your product and I am just not impressed. I go step by step per the instructions and I am not liking the results. Not covering my gray, and I had over 1/2 the bottle left over and trust me I did exactly as the instructions said, though It did not mention anything about applying the color to the bulk of my hair, only the ends and roots and I used some in the shower as, again, instructed. Not very goodWas very disappointed in the product. Used it the first time by myself, followed directions & wasn't happy with the outcome. Lasted very short length of time. Thought it was something I did incorrectly so I took it to my hairdresser & had her apply it. Was just as disappointed then also. Color didn't even last 4 weeks--red was totally gone & the gray was back and very prominent. Wrong color!!I sent a picture of my dirty blonde hair with blonde highlights to the colorist. They send me light brown. I figured they knew what they were doing. They did not. I now have brown roots and blonde hair! Help! Love the color, BUT there is a BIG problemI have received 4 orders so far and I have the same problem with each. The color is gummy and will not wash out easily. I have to wash my hair 4 or 5 times to get it to feel clean! I have read other reviews that state the same problem, so it is not just me. Great color, horrible waxy residueI've used it twice now and the first time I thought I had a waxy residue left on my hair from the stain guard. I went ahead and tried it again with out the stain guard and still after washing my hair THREE times, am left with a thick waxy substance on my hair and scalp. I want to love this product because the color is spot on but I just can't. Worst hair product ever.Worst company ever with a product that doesn't cover/ fades after washing. The only reason why it gets a one star is that it would not write a review without at least one star. It doesn't even deserve that. Company keeps your credit card on file for anyone and everyone to access and steal! When requesting a cancellation, company still keeps everything active and open so anyone can access and steal your information PLUS they won't cancel your account. No gloves in boxI was disappointed to find when I went to take everything out to start my process this time that the gloves were missing from my box this time, i actually went back through twice to make sure i did not miss something. SadI had been waiting and waiting to dye my hair because it never turns out right. Thought this would be a good way to get a good color. WRONG! My natural color is a boring light brown. I had lighter blondish/red tones towards my ends from a yr old dye job. I was really just wanting to get back to my natural color. I ended up super dark with a greenish grey tint. It looks nothing at all like the color description. It is so shockingly dark that it looks like I'm wearing a wig. Like washing playdoh out of my hair.This was a horrible experience. Why do i need a separate bottle for roots and ends? Why do I need to bring the remaining color in the shower with me and add it to my already saturated hair? And WHY did the dye turn my hair into a sticky, gummy terrible mess when it was rinsed?? I was rinsing for 30 minutes! Your shampoo and conditioners were absolutely no help - shampoo did not even lather. I used my own after and also needed to brush and comb chunks of waxy feeling dye out of my hair. Still, it does not feel restored. After reading other reviews, I see that other customers also had this same issue. You should consider researching the color combos of everyone and see if there is a correlation. Wanted my color to be a little lighter...wasn't changed.Color not what I was hoping for. I'm also concerned about the health of my hair since using eSalon hair color. My hair-stylist says I am suddenly getting a lot of split-ends, which I never had much of a problem with until approximately June. I am also experiencing a lot of hair loss. My hair is thin anyway...so it worries me to see so much hair on the countertop and in the sink after each time that I dry and style my hair. My health hasn't changed and I am not on any medications. Did not cover gray at all. The rest of my hair is way too darkI've been coloring my hair at home for over ten years and have tried every brand on the market, drugstore to professional brands. This was the worst coloring I have ever experienced. The color turned my gray hair a horrible green tint yet turned my natural dark brown hair an awful black color. I had to go to salon for color correction which was expensive. I spent a lot of time talking to the color specialists before ordering so it was not due to a wrong color choice. Still Too darkThis was my 1st time trying out this product & even though I followed the directions & video tutorial (forgot how messy coloring hair can be), the color was still too dark. The chemicals for the color was more gentler on my scalp but it still caused some slight itching 2 days later after coloring was done. Plus it still didn't cover some of the stubborn grays on the sides of my face.On the plus side, I like the convenience & privacy of having it done @ home. Horrible.I ordered light brown and what was sent to me was almost black. My hair is ruined and I'm totally horrified that I need to go to work looking like someone else. Really disappointedThe last time I used esalon I was fairly happy. Unfortunately this time I'm quite disappointed. The color is significantly darker than excpected and had the worst time getting the oil out! I showered and shampooed 4 times and this thick gel substance was stuck to my hair. (Still working on getting the oil in the back out over 24 hours later and multiple washings) I contacted the support center and was told next time to follow the directions- I followed the directions exactly. The other suggestion is to use a clarifying shampoo. I should not have to buy a special product to remove this, especially when it was never mentioned before hand. Who wants to go out in public with there hair matted down in oil to buy shampoo??! I had a similar experience last time but nowhere near as bad and the color turned out okay-not perfect, but his time it's a medium brown not a dark ash blonde, so not easily able to be fixed unless I pay to go to a salon to have it lightened. The shade ended up better than last time on the top, but the bottom is greenish. Extrememly disappointed is time around. Current Hair Color received end of AugI was very happy with my initial purchase in June. I liked the color, the fumes did not irritate my eyes and my hair felt healthy. Awesome grey coverage but it feels like glueGuys! If your goal is grey coverage, esalon works like a charm. If you want ease of coloring at home on your own, consider a different product. The time and effort it takes to wash this product out of your hair is not worth it. It feels like your entire mane is matted down with a thick coating of elmers glue. It took me several washes to feel comfortable going out of my house as It leaves such a weird coating on your hair. I color my hair, often. I wanted to give esalon a try and maybe try a different brand of color. My other issue. I chose my natural color of light ash brown. My hair pulled brassy orange at the roots. That never happens to me with ash which left me all sorts of confused. However, I was able to tone it with lavender/grey toner and it ended up being a splendid color. Really rich and beautiful. Grey coverage gives it the three stars. It's really great for greys. I wish I liked it better. I just can't get full coverageFor some reason some of my grays seem resistant to the color. After just a few days, right on my hairline, I can see gray strands of hair. I'm following the directions and timelines and I am disappointed. I may cancel my subscription because I hate taking the time and effort if it's not going to work completely. Need to apply it twice to make it sticks but nice results at the endI applied the product with the brush on my roots only, just as the description told me to do. But a lot of product was left in the bottle. After waiting 15 min as indicated, I washed my hair, let it dry, but the color did not really work. Just buy a box dyeThere is zero dimension to this color. It's all the same all over, so it looks way more unnatural. It also felt really gross in my hair and took forever to wash out. The coverage was great, it totally hid my purple streaks. However, I put in my notes that I wanted my color to have a purple tint, which it obviously does not have. You can't REALLY customize your color here, just pick one from the extremely short list of shades. Overall it looks fine, just boring and devoid of dimension. Color was wrong!The color that I received was supposed to be Medium Blonde (Natural Golden). I used as directed, and actually shortened the leave-in time by 5 minutes. Not what I expected.I love the color but it does not cover the gray very well. I have used nice and easy for years and it covers better. My scalp itches and my hair is not very soft. Ok But Not GreatThe product was fine; however, I was disappointed that it did not match my hair very well, especially since I answered all the questions asked and sent picture of how my hair look. Hair was a lot lighter than I expected it to be. I also did not like the fact that it was automatic re-order. I thought I was getting one trial of the product and if I liked it, order it again. Highlights Devoured my ColorI recently ordered the lights lab to add highlights to my hair. I was a little cautious, so I watched your youtube video a couple times, watched a few other videos and finally felt comfortable to try it out. My hair color was a medium brown with a hint of red to begin with. I carefully added the highlights to my hair according to the video and waited the proper amount of time until it was to be finished. rinsed, shampooed and used the toner. Took the towel off to take a look-see and O.M.G!!! Except for my roots, and a few locks here and there, My whole head was a strawberry blonde!! Ummm? What just happened? I know I didn't paint the lightener all over everywhere!!! But it sure grabbed onto all my hair and took it over... Don't know what to really do now? Loved the colour but what a mess!I tried eSalon hair colour and loved the colour that was selected for me, but I have never used a hair colourant that was so messy to use! The solution was far too liquid, and it was not as easy to apply as I thought, with hindsight it should have been a two person job. When it came to rinsing the solution off until it ran clear 15 minutes later I was still rinsing and the colour had splattered everywhere in the bathroom! When I came to dry my hair it felt wet in parts and I realised there was still some of the colourant on my hair so I had to wash it again. I was really disappointed with the process and I don't want to go through that again, nor do I want to have to completely clean my bathroom every time I colour my hair. Not enoughI have always received 2 bottles in the past (1 for roots and 1 for the rest). This time I got 1 bottle which was not enough for my whole head. Loved the color; hated the conditioner!I ordered eSalon for the first time in 2015 and just got around to using it. While I loved the custom color results, I absolutely HATED the conditioner. It made my hair feel heavy and extremely oily, instead of its usual silkiness. Even after several rinsings, the product stayed in my hair, creating an unpleasant sticky feeling that also caused residual color to cling to my hands during brushing. Not what I wantedAfter my first color I received an email asking me if the color was correct or did I like and I said no it was not red enough. Wanted more red than brown. I was provided with some type of gloss, still not what I wanted. When the next order came out I was not even asked if I wanted to change it or how I liked it and it was just sent. DisappointedSo disappointed I asked for dark brown and my hair is now black!! I have three colours in my hair now because you coloured my hair black. I have black roots now dark brown in the middle section and light brown at my ends! So disappointed I told all my family and friends about this and I feel really let down. I even sent a picture of my hair! Maybe next time you should ask what colours people use previously so this does not happen again. I was hoping to re use but looks like I won't be.
