Promised a purple tint. NO tink at allI wanted at least a purple tint...and I even talked to color specialist to make sure that a purple tint was possible. So I want my brown hair changed to an ombre color. As bright and purple as you can on the top. I want the bottom to be a light purple. So I don't want any other dyes. Why won't it work on white hair?The first time I tried e-salon it seemed to do a little better than what I was using. However, my white hairs started showing within about 2-3 weeks. The second time they showed through within 1 week. Are these white hairs just unable to be dyed? Must be, because even my old dye lasted longer than 2 washes. Tried so many formulasI have been trying for almost 2 years to get the perfect formula, with grey coverage. My coverage is not even a a lot of grey. I was even recommended to try grey magic with this color and that didn't help. I use sulfate free shampoo for color and still withing a week the color is not sticking to the greys. Med Brown GoldIt is darker than I expected for Med Brown and it wasn't really golden in home light, more auburn. It does look better outside, and my husband says it's fine, but it seems too dark to me. Used exactly as directed, didn't work.I used the product exactly as directed, taking my time to read the directions thoroughly, mixing the color correctly, separating my hair as indicated, etc. etc. I applied color and set my timer after I was done as per the instructions. Rinsed the color out using the provided shampoo and...damn! It simply didn't color my roots. All that prep and time, for no change! I've never had trouble with home hair color not working before -- even temporary color. Not sure if this product wasn't designed to cover greys at all? Color made my head itch.I have used this color for two years. My color was updated several times. For the last 3 times I used it, my scalp would itch and feel raw for at least a week. Not impressedI ordered a cool dark blonde for my medium brown hair. After dying it, they looked pretty the same, beside brassier tones. (wich I'm not a fan!) Great color, but 1 big issueThe custom color shade was good. The big issue for me was the way my hair felt after coloring. I followed the instructions down to the last letter-but it left my hair feeling over processed and damaged. My hair usually feels especially silky and looking great after coloring it. Not the color I expected.I really like the idea behind this service! As for my first experience, I requested a color that was a little more red. I received an email that a different color was suggested for me so I figured I would give it a try. Once I did though, I got a color that was a bit less red than I wanted and more of a purple :-( I love the gray coverage of this dye. Too darkI was super excited about trying this product especially after reading all the reviews...I didn't like the smell at first...and i just kept going. I jist did my roots and liked how smooth it went on...but then i noticed it was turning really dark really fast...before the 20 mins. So I washed it out. My hair look like its black now...not brown. Even mu kids noticed. They never say anything...they kept thinking my hair was wet! Custom hair colorThis is my first negative review. Yet again, the light to medium shade was too dark. I can live with that. Ok, fast forward to when I rinse out the dye. I was in the shower, had rinsed until clear. At that time, I noticed a lot of suds in my hair. Spent the next 15 minutes trying to get the gunk out-no luck. After another 1/2 hr using the sprayer in the kitchen sink with my husband's help, I was still left with some gunk. I like the shampoo you send for color treated hair; could you send an extra one?I am sorry, but I have decided not to use esalon hair color on my hair anymore. The reason is because it is drying out my hair and I have to condition it more often than I did when using different semi-permanent hair color. Dull RootsUnfortunately, my root color seem lackluster in comparison to the color provided for my ends. The ends had a wonderful coppery reddish brown hue, while my roots had little copper red tones. False PromisesThere is nothing "custom" or "personal" about this product or company. You answer some questions about your hair, send in a picture and they send you the product in the mail along with a string of automated emails that are about as impersonal as you can get. You never talk to a human being and they never actually see your hair in person. Good idea poor executionIt sounds great and I used 2 shipments to make sure I gave them a fair chance. My main request was to avoid any red highlights and wanted more ash. Never againHonestly open minded and wanted this to work. The packaging is classy. I think though I was duped into buying add ons not necessary. The color was spot on but I've never felt my hair so dry/brittle/needing to be cut. This product is not as good as box color top shelf at the drug store. What is that oily waxy residue?!!My hair is having trouble taking color. The roots take color great, but the bottom 3 or 4 inches do not want to hold color. I was hoping this product would be different. Well no such luck. The color on the roots and everywhere looked great at first, but there was this horrible waxy oily residue. I had rinsed and rinsed and rinsed and then used the shampoo provided and then rinsed some more. I had to use my own color shampoo to finally get the oily residue out of hair. It's really gross. I have never had that problem before with all the times I have colored my own hair or have had it professionally colored. Poor qualityI experienced a weird waxy build up when trying to rinse the color out. This happened the last two if not three times. Wanted ash blonde got orange insteadI have some regrets about using this hair color. Mainly that I didn't follow my gut on a few decisions. I actually knew what I needed--a toner to correct brassy yellow highlights--but I decided to order this instead, because I wasn't confident about my DIY color/toner skills. The confusing response I got initially from the consultant made me want to cancel my order but I went ahead with it. That was a mistake. Another mistake was not doing a strand test. When I saw 15v developer I should have known that it wasn't going to work for me. My hair is stubborn and I don't think anything less than 20v will work on it. A strand test would have at least proved that without ruining all my hair, because the color is pretty ugly right now. At least my hair isn't breaking or anything but my scalp feels a little sensitive still. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten better results from a box color. Also disappointed that I second-guessed myself and fell for the slick marketing and a gimmicky product. Lesson learned: This product is just as risky as buying a box dye off the shelf. You can send photos and they can give you advice but they can't guarantee you'll get good results, just like any other color that comes out of a box. So it's a about $9 risk versus a $20+ risk. Either way if you mess it up you'll still end up at a salon paying $$$ for someone to fix it. Custom color - AuburnI want to let you know that I have given y'all several attempts at getting my hair color right, but this last time was the absolute worst. My hair is now orange, not Auburn, and is so damaged that my hair has been falling out by the handful daily. I can't color it again any time soon. It's going to take several conditioning treatments if I can even get it healthy again. My hair is very long and very damaged now. eSalon Colors does not work for African American Hair!I used the color kit, and it did not work on my hair. After I used there kit my hair came out the same as before I used the kit. I contacted customer service, they went to talk to the colorist Leianna H. and she is very inexperienced with hair coloring for a person that is post to be a licensed cosmetologist. Leianna H. said that the hair color would not work on my hair. The best question is. Why would you send a customer a color kit if you knew that it would not work? Girls.. save yourself I would not recommend the color kits. The only positive thing that I would say is that there shampoo is pretty good. Honestly thats about it. Completely DisappointedI had such high hopes for eSalon. I am more frustrated with my hair after using their products. I actually cried because I was so disappointed. I wanted to color my hair a dark chocolate brown. But it looks nearly the same as when I started. I followed the directions. I did what I was told to do. I want my money back. Not worth the time, tears, or disappointment. Though I used the shampoo and conditioner in my hair, when I got out of the shower there was dye still at my roots. I had to go back in & literally scrub my hair. I have curly hair so this caused a lot of frizz. Just overall so sad this didn't work for me. Never againI was so excited to try a new hair color. Issue was not with kit but with the residue left behind. My hair is gummy and has a thick paste residue. I've washed my hair multiple times and it is not coming out. To top it off it didn't cover my gray at all. And my hair feels like straw. And yep followed instructions exactly. Wrong ColorI decided to give esalon a try due to their advertisement of custom just right color. I like to color my hair with chestnut undertones & loathe, for myself personally, red undertones or highlights of any kind. I conveyed this on my preferences and even detailed a note to that effect and after I dyed my hair, it was filled with ugly red undertones. Now I have to keep dying over this hideous mess until it clears. Hopefully by December. Not Ready to Give UpI'm not sure my message got through to you that the medium ash brown you did for me is too dark and still has red tones. I have since had my hair highlighted and now need a light ash brown color. I hope the next formula works better. it was okaythe color was way darker then my natural color and my original requested asked a question about grey coverage options but I never got a response on that, just a box of color. I was hoping the "salon person" would be a bit more helpful. Loved the color, but it faded within a weekI'm pretty disappointed in the longevity of the color. The color was amazing, but it did not last regardless of using color-safe shampoo and conditioner.. it lasted about a week. In case anything does drip, pre-apply your forehead, neck, and ears with our complimentary stain guard to protect your skin from staining, and then wipe with the included stain removing wipes.
