Not as happy as I was a week agoI was sent a beautiful dark golden brown haircolor. When filling out the form I let him know that I had some resistant grays. I followwd the instructions to a T and watch the video prior to coloring. The color was beautiful until about a week later. All of my roots and grays are now a light golden brown almost blonde and the ends are dark..... It looks like I have roots again from the light color they turned. Too brassyThe only radon I trialed this product/system was to avoid red, brassy hair but that’s exactly what I ended up with despite updating my request! Now they won’t stop sending and billing me with more if the same!! I’ve tried canceling multiple time to no avail. Goopy MessWhile the coverage was good, it's impossible to wash out. I seriously had to scrub every inch of my scalp with my nails to scrape off the colored goop. This happened all 3 times I used the dye, the 3rd time leaving my hair overly dry and brittle from the necessary extra shampooing. Bad Batch?I've been using esalon for about a year, but this time the color didn't seem right going on. Really thick and "greasy" feeling. Wrong stickers on contents or a miss with the formulaI asked for the same color and gloss as my last order, but this time my roots are bright red and my ends are dark, dark brown. Just OkMy roots don’t look very different than what they did prior to using the esalon kit. They still look brassy and lighter than the rest of my hair. Great colour, horrible feelingWhile I love the personalized care I received with my first time the feeling of my hair afterward is not something I care to repeat. I read the instructions four times (because I'm weird like that) before I even approached the products in the box. Then while dying my hair I had the instructions in front of me and read them again before hoping in the shower to rinse off. While in the shower and afterward my hair felt heavy and sticky and as if it were full of mousse that globbed together instead of drying. I only used the products in the box which were extremely hard to open to wash my hair and made sure that all of the excess color was washed out. Looked terrible under lightThis colour looked fine on when you were in darkness or there was no bright lights. When you go outside in the sunshine or are under artificial lighting it shine a really bright and illuminating orange red colour. If I had wanted red tones I'd have ordered one that colour. Trouble opening the bottleI just recommend your company to a friend. We both got our delivery and did our hair the same night. I went to mix the products and could not open the small bottle. I used a jar opening grip, and finally tried to use a tool to open it and the bottle broke and more than half of the liquid was lost. I spoke to my friend and she had the same issue opening the bottle. I have been using this company for a long time now and was not happy. Color was to RedThe last color had to much red in it (look at uploaded pictures). My roots are a lighter red color then the rest of my hair and not enough brown. And yes I only did the roots and not the entire head. Not at all what I wantedI love the fact that the color is custom and it is shipped fairly quick, however the color was way darker than what I expected it to be. It didnt let me pick the honey blonde color I actually wanted and to top it off, it actually changed the texture to my hair. I have very curly hair and after applying the color it actually straightened some of it so it doesnt even curl correctly now. Fading fastI am disappointed that this color was not as advertised. There was no shine. My color was dull and drab. And then it faded within a week. I normally use Féria which always delivers superior shine and vibrant color. I was hoping I could tweak my color a bit by going this route, but only 2 weeks after application, i will be recoloring with Féria. Waxy, strawlike texture to my hairI have been using this product for a few years, and while the color is good, I have noticed lately that my hair feels like straw when I rinse out the color, and has a waxy/oily feel afterwards. I used my own conditioner the last time I colored my hair and had the same problem. Inconsistent colorMy first color was dark. I understand it is difficult to know where to start based upon photo, but I went from dirty blond to my granddaughter (who is medium brown) calling me “her hair twin!” My color was adjusted and the next application was nearly strawberry blond. The third and most recent adjustment resulted in light brown with reddish tint. As I emphatically started with the desire to avoid red or green (I’ve experienced both in past salons), I guess the twinning my dark-haired granddaughter was odd, but best. Uneven color- waxy residueThis product is terrible! I've dyed my hair many times from home. This dye gave my hair the strangest texture, and it actually lightened my roots instead of darkening them, then darkened the middle... ugh. nightmare. New packaging is faultyReceived and used my hair color kit yesterday. Excited for the new look. However the experience was frustrating. The colorant cap would not open. After several attempts using rubber gloves with no budging, I had wait for my son and husband to get Home to have them to open the cap. It wasn’t easy for my husband either. Delayed my hair color for an hour. Then all is well until I’m washing the color out. The new shampoo and conditioner packettes tear was faulty. I tore off but nothing came out. I’m in the shower totally annoyed bc the inner clear layer was not punctured and wouldn’t release the sh and then same for cd. While the packaging is pretty, it does not work functionally. OverallI was excited when the box arrived. I opened it and got cream developer on me. Leaking bottle was not tight. I followed directions (i have self colored for 30 years). I noticed the color turning a dark brown as it developed and was hoping it was not what i thought it was. I do not like or use cool or ash colors of blonde. I prefer light golden with red tones. Flat. Different colorsI did not like the fact that 1. I only received 2 bottles when i made it clear i had long thick hair, so I did not have enough product to evenly distribute and its not like I could run to a beauty supply shop to match the color since its supposedly "custom made". 2. The 2 bottles I received were two different colors. One for roots one for ends. I did not like this since I color my hair from bottom to top since my ends need more saturation. I also just wanted one color. The color itself was too flat. I wanted a shiny chocolate brown and got a flat dark brown black mix. I also specified I was trying to hide the red in my hair and these colors had a lot of red in them to begin with. While washing out the color it made my hair very coated and took me 5 shampooings for it to feel normal. Overall wasnt satisfied and canceled subscription. The reason I give it two stars is because I did love the packaging and the personal touch, and the price was good, but I've done better mixing color myself from Sally's than this "custom color" 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Color was beautiful but...The color was rich and beautiful but it was simply too dark. I ordered a dark brown but it really came out nearly black. I got asked over and over ‘you dyed it black?!’ I just didn’t feel confident for nearly a month until it began to fade a little. Okay.I followed instructions completely and was super excited about it but it left my hair really greasy, the dye would not wash out for about three days and it turned super greasy and just nothing like what i imagined it would be. After 4 days the color has almost washed out and even though it was semi permanent dye i expected it to last much longer. Hair color not desiredThe hair color I received was nearly black in color. I asked the stylist for a brown color that looked more natural. What I got was a head full of red black color that faded to a dark red. I specifically wrote a note to my stylist, and it was ignored. When I received a color (free of charge) to correct the first mess up, the color was exactly the same and just darkened my hair yet again. Since, I’ve had my hair corrected by a local stylist where I spent over $200 correcting what this company did. I’ll never recommend this company to anyone. The stylist was appalled by the results as well as she fingered through my hair trying to decide how to correct. She reviewed the color numbers that the eSalon stylist chose, informing me that the color was so dark it was almost identified as black. Was hoping for better resultsIt was easy to use and packaged very nicely. However my color was off. I wanted slightly darker Mahoganey brown. I got slightly lighter brown hair that's copper. Colour doesn’t lady as long as it used to.I’ve been an e-Salon user since the start. I loved that they custom matched my former Paul Mitchell salon color exactly. I live the auto shipping and customer service when I travel. The last 6 months or so I’ve noticed my color fades after 2-3 weeks when it used to last 6-8. Injured myself trying to get the bottle openI've used e-salon a couple of times (this may literally be the second time). I had a vague memory that the color was difficult to open, but it didn't deter me from purchasing again. My experience this time will make me think twice and most likely not purchase again. I get that when shipping chemicals through the mail you're going to want a tight seal. But this was ridiculous. I got a 2 step kit. I had to work the lid on the color for Step 1 for a while, but I eventually got it open. I was twisting the lid so hard that when it did eventually come off color splattered all over me and my bathroom. It was annoying, but no biggie. I wiped it up and got on with it. Step 2 is where things went from annoying to absurd. I could not, for the life of me, get the lid off of the color. I had 15 minutes to get ready for Step 2. I was not able to get the lid off in that time frame. I tried gloves on, gloves off, and using a towel for traction. This was all at about 6 am. Its now 10 am and my left hand is bruised and swollen from trying to get the damn thing open. After my 15 minutes were up I resorted to other measures. I went for the tool box, which I luckily had pulled out for a different reason last night. Pliers had no effect. I eventually grabbed a screwdriver and a hammer and broke the lid apart like I was chiseling a sculpture. Naked. In my bathroom. Panicking because I thought I was going to work with brown streaks all over my head. Now I'm sitting at work with a swollen hand and great hair color. The only reason for my 2 stars is that the color is lovely. But the aggravation has made me consider paying 10 times as much at a salon. 3 of 4 people found this review helpful. Did you? |

I am typically very detail-oriented and I rarely miss this type of thing. Super BumbedI was expecting a more purple brown, which it what the chocolate mauve color is and said in my comments I was hoping for. Came out red brown. Did NOT want red. Could buy this color for cheaper thru Sally's for the results I got. UPDATE: When I originally ordered my color I pick an option closest, I thought to what I wanted but still added a note as it truly wasn't what I was looking for since I wanted a more purple base vs red. I received my first color, wrote a review as hated it since all I ended up with red and someone replied which I appreciated and said would fix it accordingly. I was just sent the exact same color!!! Waxy hair dyeI like the color, the price, and the convenience of esalon. However, I had to cancel my subscription because I can’t stand the waxy/sticky/gummy formulation. I have followed the instructions on the package and used a clarifying shampoo but this product is way too difficult to wash out. HORRIBLE!After my initial (Demi-permanent, to cover highlights) color was WAY too dark and red, I was given a complimentary permanent color to "fix" it. (I had to write several emails and make a phone call to get the "corrected" color to be free of charge, as per the company's guarantee.) Now, my hair is even darker and redder than it was (nearly black). I now have to make an appointment at a salon to have it fixed, which will be both costly and damaging to my hair. Never again. UPDATE- I am going to have to spend $150-$175 at the salon to get this junk out of my hair, as it is nearly BLACK and my own hair is medium ash brown. Great color, but my hair feels greasyGreat color, but my hair feels really greasy and sticky. I did everything right by the directions. My hair looks like I used five tubes of V05. Dark BlondeI just used this last order 3 days ago. I went back to my 2nd color request of dark blonde with less brassiness. It was darker than before. Also the last 3 times I have colored my hair I have broken out with an itchy rash. This was the worst it has been. Prior to this time it was just on my hairline and ears. Lesson learned!I burned my hair. It’s my own fault for not reading instructions more carefully but as a friend, I would have put in bold letters DO NOT TREAT STRANDS ALREADY TREATED! Only color your hair growth. I have suffered four months with losing several inches of burned hair. It has hurt my self-confidence. I love the color that I have gotten from e-salon but my last shipment of color I did not allow to stay on long enough because I am nervous to burn my hair again. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful.
