Disappointed in deliveryMy bottle of developer leaked all over the package and it had very little left in the bottle. I still tried to dye my hair but I am upset as this is the first time this had ever happened with your company and I have always received excellent customer service. Don't Let Them Change Your Color!!!I am so disappointed in this company. I had to re-dye my hair after I got my very first color. The color quiz asked for a picture, so I attached one. The "personal colorist" said that a slight change would look better with my skin tone. My skin color and tone is pasty white with rosacea. I have been the color red that was chosen before and it actually works well. IF this company is ever used again, there would NEVER be a picture sent to make sure that no one ever "adjusts" your hair color. My hair turned into a dark brown color was darker than my hair has been my whole life. My older sister started coloring my hair when I was 13. No matter what color we colored it, the color always came out some version of red because that is how much natural red I had in my hair. So, when I started to go grey at 20, I gave up and just started coloring it in shades of red. I have recently moved to a very expensive part of the country and can no longer afford to go to a beauty school (who always did wonderful work), so I now am going to have to go back to coloring at home. Color much darker than expectedI like the feel of my hair after coloring. It also has a nice shine. However, the color is several shades darker than what I expected (and what was shown when I selected the color). I have very short hair, so touching up the roots means getting the color pretty much everywhere. I was also using a different color before (L'Oreal 74C). Messed up colorI'm unsure if there was a misunderstanding in the labs and I got the wrong color or what. However I was supposed to get a Ash brown with a pearl hue, my hair is so dark in color it's almost black. My hair was a medium/ light brown with a sort of blonde golden balayage throughout. I'm not even sure how this happened, I read the instructions in entirety twice before starting, and then again during application. I went as far as to use a timer to make sure I applied, and that I left everything on correctly for times. Too DarkI have previously requested a lighter color because once processed the original color was too dark; the lighter color I received last time was better however this time it was too dark again. Very DisappointedI was so excited to try this experience, I was very open as I have dyed my hair for many years. I thought this was going to be a different experience...and it was. First, I loved the packaging. It was feminine and made me feel like I was really going to be treating myself to a great hair coloring experience. The smell of the hair dye is overwhelmingly strong. I had to go outside at one point as it was difficult to breathe. Keep in mind I was in a large bathroom, door open and the ventilation was on. My eyes watered so badly at one point I had to have my husband get me a cool wet washcloth and guide me outside! Once the color was washed out and the hair was dry...My hair was very much two different colors!!! I lighter orangish-burgundy color at the roots and a very dark burgundy on the length on my hair. Product changed!When the box changed, so did the product. I have been using eSalon for a long time and have done the process the same way many times and had excellent results and many positive comments about my color. However, the last two shipments since the box change have been waxy, smelly, brassy, and left my hair feeling course. More difficult to use than other coloring systemsI was very excited to get a more customized color at home. The color I received turned out way more red as well as darker than the color I saw and chose on the website. The application was similar to other systems I have used at home, but when it came to rinsing out the color and finishing up- it was a nightmare. I initially took my time in rinsing out the color after seeing numerous reviews complaining about the sticky, waxy residue and the suggestions to make sure to get all the color out of the hair. I spent about 3 times as long rinsing out my hair as I normally would for any other color and I STILL ended up with that awful residue. I ended up having to re-wash my hair twice to get it to be manageable and I still feel a sticky stiffness in my hair. My hair ended up looking way more frizzy and dull than with other color systems as well. The smell of the color while rinsing it out was AWFUL! It was even hard to breathe it was so strong. I am not sure I would go through the process again even if it was the most perfect color in the world. I made an appointment with my normal hairdresser this morning to have her try and fix the color and remove the rest of the residue that I can't get out. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Not For MeI think it's a good product for short hair or shoulder length hair but NOT long hair. I had a terrible time trying to dye my hair. Not what I asked forI was lead to believe this was a service that understood the subtleties of your hair colouring requirements I have just used my first delivery of hair colour and am very disappointed I asked for a mid brown non red colour . I sent photos and a detailed description of what I wanted which was an in between 4and 5with no red and now have a very dark reddish brown !!! How come ?.... It has changedI think something changed in the formula recently. I have been using the color for about a year and I feel like the color is now more difficult to apply because it won't wash off well after coloring, even after 2-3 rounds of shampooing. I can get rid of the hair feeling and looking sticky and dirty only after a couple of days which bothers me. Did Not Get What ai RequestedI sent a message to eSalon weeks before my order shipped asking for the addition of more red to my color. I got a response saying my message had been received almost at immediately. The note from the colorist said “Adjusted tone” in my shipment. I’d requested the tone adjustment on the prior color. Harsh on hairThe color is ok and definitely colors grays better and longer than store bought dye. My issue is the conditioner. It doesn't work well at all. My hair feels very brittle afterward. I had to purchase a box of Revlon from a discount store to get the conditioner. That worked better. It frys your hairMy hair was a tangled mess after using this product the first time and then my ends were fried. I did not realize the company would just keep sending me more of the dye. I did not want it. The second time I tried it, it covered all my gray (which is a tiny amount) and I used KLORANE conditioner for color treated hair. Much better results that lasted until the fine hairs on the side of my hairline grew out. So I ordered it again. This time it didn't cover any of my gray. I did everything exactly as the instructions said to do. I used the eSalon shampoo and conditioner, I timed how long I left the dye on. I am never ordering from this joke of a company again. Considering I paid $25 for the dye kit and another at least $5 for shipping-- I could have gone to my stylist for about $10 more and had her cover my gray. Color was totally wrongColor was supposed to be a Bright Auburn and was actually a medium brown with no real red or copper tone in it. I've had my hair professionally colored and home-colored for years- I would have been much better off buying a box at the drugstore. No one looked at the provided pictures or tried to customize; all emails are form letters. Their "solution" is to tell you to wait at least three weeks to re-color and use buy color oops or clarifiying shampoo to try to get the wrong color out. Note that their guarantee will only get you a new ( hopefully right- but I can't trust that) box in 3-4 weeks or a refund of the $10 paid ( not shipping or other items). 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Flat colour, faded in less than a weekThe colour is at least a shade too dark for me. It covers all the natural brown tone in my hair, just a monotone black. My color is WAYYY Off from what I ordered!The product was very nice and well presented when I opened. The application of the color was very simple and not complicated at all, the smell also wasn’t as bad as I thought. Everything was going super as I was ringing out dye my hair felt still in great condition, but the thing that really made everything pointless to me was when I saw my color in the mirror. The color I ordered was a dark BROWN with warm undertones to it, but the color I seen in the mirror was no where near the color I ordered it was almost completely BLACK with the slightest red tint that only visble in the sun if you really look. I am completely pissed by this considering that I had good expectations for this product. Yeah my hair is still in good condition but the whole point of esalon is to help give you the color you want not something that’s COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! Could not get the color I wantedThe service is great with the shipping and auto-renewal, however if you have a specific color in mind you will most likely not get it. I have grays and am only 26, my hair also grows incredibly fast, so touching up my hair can be expensive at the salon. I wanted to try eSalon to help financially, however it changed my original hair color completely. I had medium brown hair to start with and when I did my first color with eSalon it came out really dark (to be somewhat expected)... I knew it would lighten with washes. However, my hair started to have a red tint to it. It would get more orange on the ends as time went on. I use a salon brand sulfate-free shampoo as well. The next two orders I requested a better mixture to combat the redness. My second order did nothing to help my redness and also did not cover any gray. When I asked for adjustments for my third order, I received the same color combination as my first order. DESTROYED MY HAIRI used this for the first time, and it completely ruined my hair! It's left an OILY FILM that I CANNOT get off, I've even tried washing it with baking soda! Would NOT recommed! I've fried the ends of my hair before, so I know it isn't fried, but it feels and looks disgusting and takes forever to dry. Brown with orange disasterI sent in a picture for proper color matching. I wrote notes detailing the light blonde I wanted. I referred to a specific esalon employee by name to further indicate the light color blonde I wanted. I was already light blonde except for the roots. I have been using color in my hair for 30 years. I followed the instructions exactly and the color I ended up with is a mouse brown with orange highlights. I'm HORRIFIED! It will cost me between $180 and $250 to get it color corrected and highlighted. Can't believe I fell for the marketing and ruined my hair. ZERO STARSI've colored with eSalon twice and both times it had to be fixed - not 'I don't like the color' fixed, it's "my roots don't match the rest of my hair" fixed. I would think after the first time, they'd keep a record of what I got, what I liked. Apparently not, because after last time, I'm thinking it's a slam dunk. what went wrongI was nervous to see so much brown on the formula chart for my roots and none on the ends formula. Followed directions to a T. The roots came out a dark cherry brown which is the one color I do not like. The ends bottle lightened and colored a little bit but didnt hold very well. Worst home dye set I've usedThis was by far the least user friendly home dye set I have used. Firstly the stain protect did absolutely nothing I have stains on ears, behind ears, on my neck and on my forehead. Secondly despite having commented that I have very thick hair didn't receive enough dye to colour all of my hair (I used 2 bottles), fortunately due to greys I started at the front so it isn't too noticeable until I re-dye it. It was a good first experience.The instructions explained the steps well enough for me to do it as a first timer. The color was a nice hue on its own but there really isn't much change to what my hair looks like. Sometimes I can see the color but it blends in with my natural color, which is kind of good. Changes are not positiveI've been a eSalon user since 2013. The recent changes to the packaging leave much to be desired. The developer had leaked all over the box. The color bottle's large opening makes pouring more of a challenge. The "colorist" obviously did not read my detailed email instructionsI am completely white/gray, so I need good gray coverage. I wrote an email in detail telling them I was gray. I also wanted a blonde with a mix of level 9 and 10. What was sent was a stock blonde level 10 with bleach. So not only did it bleach what remaining nice color I had, but did not cover the roots. So, with white roots I remain...sad.... I am cancelling my membership as the "colorist" did not pay attention to my detailed description of what I needed. So, I will continue to color my own hair with the way better products from the beauty supply store. Don't know what I was thinking in joining this online supply. Very disappointedI hate to say this, but I was very disappointed with this very last shipment. I have touted your services to friends and family and Facebook, etc. and have been very pleased with your products up until this point. But this last time you got it very, very wrong! The base color that was used on my roots, etc. was perfect. But the second color sent for my tips was completely off and left my hair with very bright, vivid red tips instead of blending with the rest of my hair. I’m not sure how it was so far off, but it was. Excellent service but colour hard to wash outI can't rate the customer service highly enough. I spent 35 mins on phone talking through my hair colour history and problems. They really listened to what I wanted. But I found the newer formula hard to wash out (I'd used this 3 years ago something has changed) I massaged colour at scalp before rinsing as per instructions but still had a waxy sticky residue on ends. I also found the smell of ammonia very strong. This could be because I've been using ammonia free colour previously. I was pleased with the colour initially but on my roots (brown with 10 percent grey at most) lifted and faded alot lighter after couple of weeks. Despite using a colour safe shampoo. Obviously all colour fades but this was a few shades lighter with grey looking like it just had a colour wash effect peaking through. I'm not sure if this is my hair as I've had trouble getting any colour to take on my regrowth , even salon colour due to perhaps HRT medication. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Did you? |

Light Gold BlondI tried eSalon because I wanted to see if the color would last longer than what I buy at the store and do myself. My goal was to stick to my regular hair color. What I ended up with was a dark beige color. It turned out darker than I have ever been. I didn't like the dry, spongy-feel of my hair that happened with this product. I had to use tons of conditioning spray to get the tangles out. The "good" news is; this color is going no-where. I have even been using harsher shampoos to try rinse it out. eSalon was fun to try even if my experience wasn't 100% great. I think it would be good for people with dark hair because, like I mentioned, the color has great staying power. Just ok. Color was not what I was hoping.I've tried drug store boxed red hair dyes before, and never liked how they always seemed too pink-toned and unnatural-looking. I guess red is just challenging! Because I found my color to be not much better than those. I asked for a coppery red with no pink tones for my dark reddish-blonde hair, and I got a dark auburn-type red, with some pink. The company offered to make a new formulation for me, but I don't think it's likely to work out. I think the coppery red of my dreams can really only happen if I'm willing to spend $100/month for salon color. I also thought the customer service could have been better. I was given the impression before buying that someone will contact you for a consult about your color order if you have questions. I received no contact, and when I emailed about it, got a snooty reply back. Horrible serviceI changed my formulation, spoke through email with a colorist and even submitted pics of what I wanted. They confirmed my colors would be changed. It came as the same color as was previously received. When I complained they offered to refomulate it for next time and wanted me to send pics again and go through the whole process again. Mean while I have a color I paid for, won't use and they wanted me to pay for another new color. No way!
