The Smell was too much to takeThe color and coverage was very good, The product did leave my hair a bit coarser than it normally is, but some extra conditioner takes care of that. Whats the point of a custom service?I explicitly mentioned my thick hair and virgin roots. I got the package and it wasnt enough for my whole head (this service is geared towards people with thinner and lighter hair apparently). I also followed their directions. I have been box dyieing my hair for years. This is the ONLY time I have ever gotten light roots like a damn band. And it did nothing to my lower hair. Medium brown came out blackI was trying to go from a blonde shade to a medium brown which is similar to my natural color. They gave me a color tint to fill my hair before dying it, which I did. I don't know how this happened, but the dye made my hair completely black. I emailed esalon and left a note for my colorist, but didn't receive much support other than use a clarifying shampoo or a color corrector. I did end up using a color corrector and now there are some hollow spots in my hair, but it is mostly brown. Overall I'm really disappointed with the lack of support from this company. Changed my previous review which was excellent to 2 starsI have read the other comments and the members who have been using your product for years seem to be disappointed as I am. This new formula leaves red highlights and fades as well as doesn't cover the greys. Please go back to the old formula. I use to get compliments all the time about the color and the shine and since you've switched I have not heard any comments. This new dye formula isn't even close to how good the dye was before you switched. They have sent me free dye to try and make the color better but it still isn't as dark or as shiny as with the old dye formula. I hope you switch back to where ever you were getting your dye product or formula. People didn't even know I dyed my hair and when I told them they wanted to know what kind I used. That doesn't happen now. I have been a member since 2015 at least and it's a shame the changes your making. You had a great product and it made it worth spending the money and now the only difference is that it still doesn't damage the hair quite as much as the store box brands. The color is dull, doesn't cover greys well and washes out quickly as well as leaves awful red highlights for those of us with dark brown hair. Please switch back to what ever kind you were using before. Finally got the darker color I was looking for but it fades and doesn't cover greys like it use to. Please switch back to the old formula. Did not come ver my grayI have received 2 shipments. The first did not cover my gray so I thought maybe I didn’t follow the directions carefully so I gave it another shot. Is this a new formula?I have been a customer for 9 years but lately my colour fades really quickly and does not cover greys as well as it once did. Is there a formula change? When the colour fades it leaves my hair really brassy too. I have little shine and my hair feels drier whereas before I always had well conditioned hair after a colour. The personalization is nice, but I would prefer to spend less and buy color without my name on it at the drug store. They deliver, too. Color faded quickly.I have used Esalon on and off for years, and raved about it to friends and family. The last few orders, unfortunately left me unsatisfied. This company can’t even get black rightI decided to give this company a try as a break from Madison Reed who’s black color has an undertone of auburn that I don’t care for.. Boy do I regret that. After 3 and a half hours coloring, showering, blow drying and styling, my hair looks horrible. if I had to guess the color they sent I would say light brown with red undertones, not even in the same realm as black. I have an event tonight for work that I don’t even want to go to because I can’t wear a hat to hide my ghetto hair colors and to top it off the customer service left me shaking with anger. Refused to refund me both my orders which I used at once time for full coverage then refused to refund the shipping. Don’t just exit out of this website, run and tell everyone you to know beware. My hair is a tragedyFrom the very beginning of this eSalon process my part was very easy and I took a picture of my hair and I went over my hair just like everyone does well I got in touch with ma personalized stylist and she said that she was looking at my picture and I told her my hair pulls red easel e so she suggested an ass color so today I made the biggest mistake by using your product. Maybe I am too finickyThe last time I colored my hair with the personalized formula from esalon, my hair right away pulled red/orange, and this was an already adjusted color from the previous coloring. Esalon had sent me a toner, which worked to tone down the brassiness. They were kind enough to send me a free extra bottle of coloring so that I could do my whole hair along with the roots. But the adjusted color is very dark brown. Too dark for my coloring. I’ve been shampooing each day and I am going to do a vinegar rinse to try to lighten it a shade. Extremely disappointed with outcome of colorI was very excited and hopeful to try this product. Unfortunately, the outcome was extremely disappointing. I'm not even sure what to call my hair color but it is far from what I requested. I had ordered a platinum blond and sent the pictures and answered all the questions. I followed the directions to a T. My hair turned out a reddish brownish much darker than expected hair color. Also, it did not cover a lot of the grey. It is not even close to being blond. I am going to have to go to a salon to have it professionally corrected. I sent the last order back to you. BEWARE! Demi-permanent formula contains hydrogen peroxideWould give zero stars if it were possible. Triple checked that my formula was identified as demi-permanent, applied it to my hair, noticed tingling, checked the formula of the developer and saw that it contains hydrogen peroxide, washed it out as soon as I could. So mad at myself, but I have no idea how you could market dye that permanently lightens hair as demi-permanent color. Left wonderingI have questioned the last several shipments, wondering what has changed? Initially I was told everything was the same but I can't believe that. My hair is left feeling coarse and brittle, the product is more difficult to mix and apply. Now I am seeing more reviews on your site that other people are experiencing the same problem. Faded very quicklyColor faded within 2 weeks and gray hair was again visible despite following the instructions. I only wash my hair approximately 2x a week with color-safe products. Still too brassyI have had 4 colours now from e-salon, as I want to try and get my hair back to its natural colour, however I have found that my hair is now more brassy than when I started, it’s also too light. I am hopeful that having had a call with a colourist that the next colour will be more like my natural colour that I am striving to achieve. I have to say that my hair is in good condition since using e-salon combined with my silicone and sulphate free shampoo and conditioner and other hair products. The only thing I do wish that e-salon would provide silicone and sulphate free shampoo and conditioner with your hair colour as I have 4 packs of each that came with my sets that I haven’t used as I don’t want to go back to putting bad things in my hair. Having the option would be appreciated, the representative I spoke to agreed to pass this observation on in the hope that this may be something that will be addressed in the future. Doesn't hold gray coverageI have been using this product on and off and finally canceled because the color does not hold. The gray coverage fades with a week or two. I would have to recolor about every three weeks. Way too much trouble for minimal coverage. Idea of this company is great, but definitely was not happy. Gray coverageNot sure why but, the second kit I was sent though again spot in as far as color was very disappointing as far as gray coverage. Unfortunately this time the gray coverage was very short lived. My entire root base was gray again with in 2 weeks. Didn't cover the greyI loved everything up until I saw that the grey at my temples was still grey, it didn't cover. Even Clairol covers that grey. Very disappointed since the whole reason I color is to cover the grey. Update: Thank you for response, I will try again it seems using the Stain Guard may have been the issue. Instructions should include that if stain guard touches your hair it will prevent hair from being colored. Is darker better?This color is a result of my request to decrease the amount of copper in my color since I felt my grays weren’t getting covered well enough. This most recent formulation (more dark brown, less copper) covers well but is a bit harsh on my skin tone. Inconsistent two tone colorUnfortunately my root and end colors do not blend or match as expected leaving a distinct difference between them. Color not Lasting, no response from coloristI made a change to my color which made it a lot lighter when the request was to be slightly lighter. When I colored with the instructions I ended up with very light roots and the rest dark. Have messaged again with no response. Maybe my consultant was coming down with ….I have only changed my color a handful of times since I began using esalone. I was terrified that I wasn’t doing my touch ups fast enough before setting the timer. It was with the drive from San Diego to have the e team advise me in person. Sadly due to Covid they no longer offer that service. My color consultant adjusted my color and added another kit free of charge with more gold in it. I didn’t really notice a change. I contacted the color consultant online and rambled on about my burnette hopes and dreams asking if I should try one of their new colors. My consultant schooled me on color tones because I should have know that the color honey that I was thinking about was darker than my current color. Ok. Sorry it looked different online. Check your label before using !!I just colored my hair before looking at the label ! Turns out I was NOT SENT my personally mixed color ! My hair turned out MUCH LIGHTER and is not as expected. Because I hadn't colored on schedule, I had 2 color kits. Looked at my remaining set and it's labeled with my name and custom mix. The kit I used was a generic color. Didn't make any noticeable differenceI have medium blonde hair and I was looking to go ginger (strawberry blonde). I was excited to try my custom blend and I had high hopes but unfortunately it didn't make any noticeable difference in my hair. Haven't colored my hair in a whileFor me, this was a bit more tedious to use on my own, a bit messy for me. I love how the color turned out, but it was hit and miss in areas? Luckily it is so subtle that it blends in and allows my white hair to appear as highlites. bottle had only Gold color-and replacement had only Gold colorWhen you are selling your service as Custom Hair Color, you should be sending your customers the blended color. Last month, I received a bottle that clearly had only one color in it. It was easy to see when comparing it to the chart, that it only had the Gold color in it. So, I sent an email and was told that a replacement would be sent that had the correct blend in it. But once again, the bottle had only the Gold color in it. Very disappointedAfter following ALL the instructions, I was ready to rinse. Filled bottle with water, and rinsed my hair till water was clear. …I then noticed that the bottle was STILL 2/3 FULL of THE HAIRCOLOR MIX??
