I have tried using the brush to apply my colour, but find I get on much better using the applicator bottle itself – I part my hair with the long nozzle and use my fingers to spread the colour. I like to use the brush for the more difficult to reach areas, eg, at my temples. The timer is really useful indeed.
I recently received my color tools kit. Since I am new at coloring my hair I thought it would be easier for me to use the brush and bowl method. Which to my surprise was pretty easy. I love the fact I have everything I need to help with coloring my hair. Everything in the kit is well made so I can use them again in the future.
I would definitely recommend these tools. It just makes it easier to color, in my opinion, with a brush rather than the bottle if you are covering grays every 4 weeks (1/2 inch growth). It helps to give you a bit more control for where you place the color
This little kit has it all, and I'm so grateful to have it! Both the brush and the bowl are the exact thing we need, and the clips are something that would probably be hard to find. Love that it came in kit form!
If this is the first time coloring your own hair you probably want to get these tools. It's a one-time purchase and definitely made the job easier for me.
I especially love that little timer! It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin! It has gotten wet, been dropped, smushed into a bag, and it's going to be three years old in a week. Never changed the battery. The clips, brush and mixing bowl are great too. Nice big clips that are easy to unclip even with a slippery, color-covered glove fingertips. Everything easily rinses clean and never becomes stained with color.
I needed this tools to dye my hair because I did have any of them and it made it way easier than if I just use the bottle. I feel that when I have used the bottle I don't get my hair all the way. The timer is fantastic because I don't Get my phone dirty.
These are SUCH great tools of SUCH incredible quality that even now, 7 years after I ordered them, EVERY single one of these products are STILL in excellent working condition! I've had SO many hair clips have the plastic loop that goes around the metal bar that makes up the joint of the clip snap after just a couple years of use...and THAT was used for simply holding dry hair, NOT use for hair with chemicals from hair dye in it! Yet these hair clips are still going strong the bowl and brush are, likewise, still in great condition...although they've rarely been used where I had still used the clips for other reasons to clip either my or my daughter's hair while styling it. And the timer has seen REGULAR use for toothbrushing to letting conditioner sit in hair to a cooking or even a time-out time when my daughter was younger and it still works wonderfully! Definitely a purchase WELL worth the money!
SO - i don't like waste. These IMO are extremely helpful because they section the hair- the brush, i tossed the 1st one! so I needed that! and the timer, i didn't think that i needed - yet it was soo convenient to use and helpful. Mixing bowl - we didnt use this time...we will next time!

This is a game changer. I used to use the bottle, spend time putting my hair into sections with a hair tie, then make a pretty big mess constantly trying to put color on my hair. This makes everything SO much easier from start to finish!
I have rinsed and reused my bowl, brush and times and I loved having tools I don't have to throw away. I also love the brush because it more through my covers my entire head of hair.
Perfection! Feels like you are at one of the best salons :) Especially the alarm clock! No more worries that you need to stop the alarm on your phone while your fingers are still covered in color :D
Heavy duty and not at all flimsy, this kit will last you forever. The timer is great and even has a little magnet on the back! These clips will not crack and break like much cheaper types I've used. Super happy I added this to my first order!
I loved have this kit it made it so easy to do my hair the clips helped my section it the timer had it so I didn't have to look for one and the bowl and brush help do the job just like in the salon
This little tool set is a big help for coloring your hair at home. The claw clips are a great size and strength, the brush end is perfect for sectioning hair and everything cleans up quickly without any fuss.
