Definitely better than box dyeI ordered a custom colour to try to get a bit closer to my natural dark ash blonde/light ash brown, as a lot of store bought dyes, regardless of being neutral or ash, leave a lot of warmth (red and gold tones) in my hair. I ordered a permanent light ash brown from esalon and the kit arrived quickly and the presentation was lovely, with very clear instructions. I was a little concerned that the instructions had said to apply to my roots first to process for 20 minutes and then only to my mid lengths and ends for 5 minutes, but I followed these directions and the end result was great with even coverage. The dye washed out well leaving my hair in a good condition and I was very happy with the result. If I re-order I will ask for more 'ash' to be added as 5 weeks later the colour has faded with more warmth showing through again, but nothing a red neutralising toner can't fix (esalons Soft Red Neutraliser is great for this). I'm yet to come across any any hair dye, professional or otherwise, that doesn't fade over time so don't let that put you off. Overall I was very pleased with the service and colour - the personalisation, especially of the instructions, is great. Bonus points that the kit comes with everything you need including a decent pair of gloves and not those bag-like ones you get in store bought box dyes. Great Subtle CoverageI loved the customization of this product! The process was easy and understandable, even for a novice. The packaging is great... love the sticker to hang the instructions on a mirror. My only negatives are 1.) I didn’t get as much of a color change as I was hoping for.. but this may be remedied in my next order? And 2.) when you have the ends and the roots bottles you almost need three pairs of gloves, the third for the rinsing aspect at the end to keep hands clean. I was so afraid........My kit remained in the cabinet and I cancelled my subscription. One day I was so tired of looking at my overgrown roots and partial grays. Don't even get me started on the previous "professional" job that left me with orange and miscolored stripes. I took a deep breath, read and re-read the instructions then took a chance. It was so easy!.....Why was I so afraid?!?! After drying and styling, I could not believe the difference! Never have I obtained the perfect shade of blonde that I always wanted, and asked for when getting my hair done, but never before obtained....UNTIL NOW! And I couldn't quit touching it to feel the softness! I reinstated my account and no longer fear coloring at home. I LOVED THISHaving used shop-bought colours for years which never came out as the colour on the box I decided to try eSalon. I was sceptical and didn't use the product for 2 weeks. Anyhow, this morning I decided to use it. The mixed solution was quite thick which meant it stayed on my hair as opposed to dripping on my face and neck. I followed the instructions, left the dye for the correct time, washed it off and conditioned with the supplied product and what a difference. My grey roots have gone, my hair is silky and the colour is perfect! My hair is very porous and doesn't usually keep a colour for more than 3 washes so I am curious how long with will last. I am delighted with this product and providing the colour stays a bit longer I will be purchasing on a regular basis. Thank you . It's now 2 washes on and my colour has faded. I am very disappointed.
