Good colour but...The colour was good but the roots of my hair were a shade lighter even though I left it on for as long as recommended. The colour for the ends turned my hair nearly black so I wore a hat a lot for a few weeks. They didn't take into account I wanted to keep my lighter ends even though I specified. The only way I could correct it was by spending double to fix their mistake which I wasn't willing to do. Not happy with my color outcomeAlthough my hair seemed to stay in good condition, my color outcome was not good. My hair, which I noted, tends to go brassy. With the hair color that was sent my hair was orange to brass color. Not a good look. It did not cover up the grey, but at least the grey is not brassy. What a strange color of hair I have right now. Have not been able to find anything to take the brass out. Just have to go with a carrot top for now. 😔. Very UnhappyThis color didn't work on my dark hair - I followed the instructions exactly and even tried another bottle and had my husband do it a second time. Still no results! Great colorI like the color. First time it lasted months. Second time it's lasted two weeks and the gray is starting to show. I also bought the rinse. I'm not liking the way it makes my hair feel. I thought the color was right until I looked at the order and should of gotten the darker choice. Super BrassyI had high hopes for this hair color, unfortunately I am so unhappy with my color. I specifically stated when I ordered that I didn't want any brassiness and now I ended up with ginger dark blond hair.... which is fine if that's what you want but it was supposed to be a beige ashy blond to prevent the brassiness. The smell was also horrendous I couldn't be in the shower with the shower curtain closed because I couldn't breathe from the ammonia. Now I need to figure out what will happen if I put regular box dye over this to correct the color. Waxy feeling on hairI don't know if it's just me or not but this color, shampoo, and/or conditioner left a waxy feeling on my hair and a weird waxy buildup on my scalp. No different than drugstore box colorsI was so ready to lighten my roots and cover the grey and was excited at receiving my delivery. The instructions were easy to follow and the supplies (brush, 2 sets of gloves and stain guard) were appreciated but that is where my happiness ends and disappointment begins. The developer smelled just as bad as any drugstore box color (it gave me such a migraine) and it took longer than expected (my own fault for lack of experience). I waited the required time (30min per instructions) and upon rinsing my hair (not as messy as i thought it would be), washing and then styling, my hair felt dried out and the color had me crying (still does). I'm a bright blonde, close to platinum with chocolate tinted lowlights. My roots are now more strawberry blonde and did not blend well with my ends. My roots are still visible, they do not match. It's not what i expected given how eSalon advertises their "custom fit coloring with soft and shiny results". Customizable ColorGood Afternoon- I understand that I was able to notate that I was unhappy with the color from my first order, but when I colored my hair, I was disappointed because my hair looked black rather than dark brown. I followed all of the steps when picking out the personalized color and even washed the color out a few minutes earlier. I felt embarrassed to complain, so I canceled my future orders, but I apparently canceled too late and my order shipped out the next day. I am not sure what to do with the product I currently have, and cannot use being that it is only to color my roots and the rest of my hair has since lightened. Great Color but not for me!Hello eSalon, I only rated this color at 3 because I thought that it was going to be more blonde than copper. I should have known that the copper was going to overtake the blonde on my grey/white hair. It is not your fault that now my hair is intense copper all over with hardly any blonde except slightly around the edges. I don't like it. However, everything else was fine and the entire kit was great. Had I picked the right color for me (maybe a solid blonde) I would have been able to give a 5 rating. I was very impressed with the entire kit, with detailed instructions and all items seemed of high quality. Still have greys.....The kit and process was easy to understand and use. I am 38 with a few grey hairs throughout and the color did not cover the few that I have, it also did not cover evenly from the top to bottom of my hair. Not the color I was shownI had picked the color I wanted a dark auburn with copper highlights. Not even closeI have dark brown hair with highlights and want an all over color. I went med golden brown and it made my hair even darker but also red. Not happy with the results at all.I feel like I would have had better luck with store bought. Never been more disappointed.I never write reviews even for a bad experience in the past. I have a previous salon balayage done and wanted to darken by brass blonde while salons are currently closed. I answered the questionnaire and chose a dark brown mahogany option that would work on my current color. I wanted something with less maintenance, get rid of my brass, but still have a pop of color. After uploading a picture of my hair, Esalon instead chose the medium brown mahogany for me instead of dark brown. I called them regarding this as I immediately noticed that this color will still show brass and was lighter than what I was looking for. I was ensured that my color will come out darker and the formula suggested will not make my hair brassier. I decided to proceed, understanding that this formula will be made specifically to tailor my hair color needs. Today I dyed it and it made my hair even more brassier and an ugly copper color. My hair feels fried and extremely dry now when it never even did from bleaching it for my previous balayage. My salon hair looks like an at home nightmare. Before I started doing my hair at salons, I dyed my hair at home for almost 15 years. Now my hair will show in family pics tomorrow for my son’s first birthday party. I’ve never been so disappointed. DamagedThe contents arrived damaged. The bottles did not seal & the contents leaked. I still used the product because I was desperate to get my hair done. Not quite sure what went wrongCould have been user error? The shipping, packaging, instructions were all great. I tested a couple strands, the first time was orange, so the 2nd time, I left it on longer, and it turned out perfect. I put it on my whole head, and left it the same amount of time, and all the gray turned out orange. The only thing I specified in my order was not to be orange! Missing the brush to applyI had no idea that i was supposed to safe the applicator brush from my first purchase. The refill was disappointing because it is really difficult to apply without an applicator. I've just gone into your store to try and purchase one and they are all sold out. Not expecting this.I was expecting a beautiful pearl mahogany and ended up with just a regular dull medium brown and some red roots. I could have achieved this color a lot easier with a box of medium brown from the drugstore. It’s not flattering and isn’t even close to the shade I chose. Great packaging, poor colour resultsI was really excited to receive a personalised colour kit, specific to my starting hair shade and desired end result... but, it was such a disappointment! The packaging was lovely, I enjoyed the personalised labels on the bottle, which made it feel that this had been tailored to my requirements exactly. However, despite following the instructions to the letter, the end result was so similar to my original shade that it just isn't noticeable that I've coloured it at all! I had hoped to go several shades lighter, from a mid-brunette to a medium blonde, in reality, I'm now just a more consistent, flat shade of brown. No lovely multi-tonal lightening as promised by the beautiful marketing images, just a pleasant, but monotone brown. Turned my roots orange!Updated review: Today I received a reply from customer service and was issued a refund. This is a relief. So I updated my rating from 1 star to 3. You may want to give it a try or not, at least you would receive a refund if you don’t get good results. I would advise though to research on the internet regarding color application specifically for going lighter or darker, because the instructions I received turned out to be a mistake, I don’t think they’re really personalized. My previous review is below. [I answered the quiz truthfully, I followed the instructions, and what do I get, hot roots! Plus no gray coverage, I only have a few grays. I have colored my own hair in the past using boxed color and never had this issue. Very disappointed. Still no reply from customer service. Honestly, I feel scammed. Wrong colorMy hair is the same color as it was before I started maybe a little darker. It was supposed to go lighter. When I was putting it in my hair I could tell that it was going to be darker. Roots and ends entirely different colors...First off- this is actually really moisturizing? My hair feels so soft for the first time in awhile. Unfortunately, my roots are a completely different color than my hair! I followed the instructions completely and was excited for the results. However, I think that the formulation for the root color is different than the end formulation. Additionally, the "gold" blonde I chose looks more brassy than gold. Overall, it's a great price, and a nice product, but the color is so so wrong. --- EDIT : They sent me a new formulation with less gold and more "medium blonde". And, it's even worse. My hair has never been more orange and brassy in my life. Desperately trying to find a way to fix it. Really really bummed out. Color did not last very long. Went to a strawberry blonde color.I had ordered a darker blonde color and it faded within a couple of days to a strawberry blonde. It's OK and I don't mind the color. Color Adjustments?The color did not cover my grays and actually lightened my hair. I even sent photos of my hair when I placed this order and asked for a CUSTOM color formulation to match my existing hair color. Contacted ESalon five times and finally received a return email indicating that my colorist would contact me prior to formulating my new color and make the adjustments. Beyond unhappyOrder was sent April 27 and as of may 14 has not arrived. No response from customer service after multiple emails to ask about my order. When I called customer service, they said the order was likely lost. They refused to expedite a replacement. Will have to wait another 14 days to receive. Washed outI purchased your product two or three times. Each time the product washed out , it did not "grow out". It was not permanent . I always use shampoo and conditioner formulated for colored hair. I have also used permanent hair color before and you can see when it is time to color by your roots. Faded awayReally disappointed with this adjusted color. It's week two and my gray is completely visible again. It just faded away. I was made to revise my color because it had been a bit since I ordered, so I thought I'd change it slightly. I don't think that was the problem. Easy and looks great—but not the color I was going forI was completely inexperienced with dyeing hair prior to this. I appreciated the easy instructions and organized package everything was sent in. Today I colored my hair with my esalon kit! It looks great, but it’s not what I was going for at all. I am a dark blonde wanting to be a natural-looking redhead like the dark blonde golden copper shade. My hair is barely orange at all, unlike the beautiful vibrant copper in the sample photo. It’s like my hair is only slightly darker, reddish blonde. With all of the customization esalon offers, and even sending in my photo, I was hoping I would get the right formula to achieve that hair color. Root disasterI colored my hair and followed all instructions. My hair was Dark brown and my roots were a light brown. Once I placed the color it looked black in color, just what i wanted. Unfortunately my roots didn’t get as dark as the rest of my hair. They’re still light brown and the rest of my hair is black. Not what I wanted but kind of expectedI had reddish/dark blonde hair and have been wanting to lighten it. It didn't turn the blonder shade I wanted and instead made my hair turn orange. Color not bad. Not great. Website is annoying.If you want to make changes to your color you either have to wait for your stylist (mine took forever) to make the changes for you OR you can open a new account. Orange TintThe presentation and quality is amazing, unfortunately the color (the most important thing) was very disappointing. My hair is basically orange, not blond. I am happier with my former $7 box that did not color all the grey but I would rather have some grey and a better color. schöne Farbe, aber leider schlechte GrauabdeckungDie Farbe ist wirklich wunderbar. Sie kam in einer sehr schönen und aufwendig gestalteten Box, pünktlich, an. Die Farbe war auch tatsächlich ausreichend für mein dickes, sehr langes Haar. Die Grauhaarabdeckung ist nicht gut. Bereits nach dem Auswaschen, sah man die grauen Sprießlinge wieder. Orange rootsI was very disappointed in this last custom color set. My roots came out copper to orange in color which was a shock. It has only been a week and a half since I colored my hair and already the grey is back. I will give this one more try but thinking about cancelling future orders. Not at all what I expectedI spent 20 min filling out a profile with what my current hair color is and what my hair goals are with multiple pictures and it seems that it was either ignored or not looked at at all. The color I received wasn’t bad, but it doesn’t match what my hair color is currently. I mentioned in my goal/profile that my hair color is rose gold and fading, so I need root touch up for the regrowth but also color for the rest of my hair since the color I have is faded and needs a touch up. I received a “root touch up” kit and was pretty upset about the fact that it was only for my roots at first, since it was clear that my profile was not read at all. But I thought that if the color matched the rest of my hair, atleast I will be able to look a little better with my roots not a completely different color to the rest of my hair. But when I did the strand test, the root color and my current color did not match at all. I also did not get enough color to completely change my hair color. Now I have color I paid for and can’t use and still need to get something for my roots.
