Wasn't the same color as last timeThe first time I used the product it was very dark with a hint of red. I was sent a replacement/touchup that had ALOT more red and I was extremely happy. However, this 3rd order was almost exactly like the first- it does have a little more red but it is SO dark and very brown. Horrible, ruined my hair colorI have some gray hair and normally use the hair color pretty close to my natural. I always do it at the salon, and sometimes at home with the hair color recommended by my hair dresser. This time I took a leap of faith because I thought it might be a good idea to try a different hair color brand, still used the same color though. The outcome was just horrific. I have never in my life had such a terrible hair color experience. I would understand how my hair turned completely green-orange if it was a different tone from my natural hair color. Product realityI ordered my coloring kit and it just arrived a few days ago. I opened my kit and followed all the instructions included in the package. Once I finished the treatment, I noticed that there was no change. My hair color was the same as before the treatment. Good presentation and personalised but not great coverageI have had 3 orders and although I am very happy with the delivery being on time and the ease of the re-orders and the presentation and set out is extremely easy to use as well as the personalisation. However, I found that my grey coverage has been poor. My greys would show up again extremely quickly compared to other salon brands I have used in the past where the colour does not start to show for at least 1 month and barely, with this the greys show up again after a few shampoo washes and it should be permanent. Still not red enoughI was born a strawberry blonde...but as I get older I get blonder. I am 62 with very little gray but I am turning very blonde. Nice color, but less that two weeks and the grey is back, not just regrowth.Nice color, I would adjust it for a bit lighter strawberry blonde for me, it is a bit too dark, completely understandable, as this was our first color. My biggest issue is that the grey did not stay covered, two weeks and grey showing through, not just regrowth either. Maybe it is because I swim? Followed directions to a t. Came out awful.First off, I have experience previously in hair color. I used to color my hair frequently with professional and box dye. I’m good at it and despite it being about three years since my last application of color, you don’t forget those skills. My color was supposed to be a pearl ash blonde. It came out bright orange and gave me hot roots despite barely being 1 level higher for lift. I was anxious about using just a 20 vol to lift anything but I followed everything exactly. I have emailed them and am hoping they can provide some sort of fix for this. It’s currently strawberry blonde which does not suit my skin tone at ALL and makes me look super red and yuck. Read the fine printThe color was ok and I liked how it looked, but it still dried out my hair like all boxed color does and it smelled heavily of ammonia. But be sure to read the fine print before ordering. This is a subscription and I had no idea until I got an email saying my next order was shipping the next day. All kinds of brassyI was trying to go from light blonde to a dark blonde color. I sent in pictures. This left me all kinds of orange. I paid for a reformulation based on another set of post-color photos and my hair is still orange. 2 orders, still not happy. I only received a complimentary color because I explicitly requested it after 2 unhappy color experiences. My hair fell out after using this hair coloringMy hair fell out after using this hair coloring . I noticed thinning after the second use but wasn't sure what the cause was. Then after the third use, lots of my hair started falling out. I then googled Esalon and hair thinning and discovered many others had suffered the same problem. So I cancelled my plan and am hoping and praying that my hair grows back. Wish I would have been warned about this ahead of time. Color didnt workI colored over highlights, so I received filler AND color. I put it in and it looked awesome but as soon as I washed my hair, it all came out. My grays were showing and my roots are a different color from the rest of my hair which is orangey... and my roots are dark brown/black. I contacted customer service..... and they fixed my color and then charged me 41 bucks to send me new color and shampoo and conditioner I had on there. I'm kinda upset about that because they advertise that if you're not happy then its money back... which did not happen here. Instead they charge me more to fix my hair that there color messed up. Very darkOrdered light brown with copper and a touch of mahogany ... the color came out very dark - way into medium brown, and it looks like dirty spoiled wine. That disgusting dirty shade of homemade wine. Nothing like the picture. This was such a waste of money . Never again. Thankfully color is semi- permanent so I am hoping it will wash out soon. And hair feels very unhealthy (before color my hair was amazing). This was such a waste of money . Hate it . Color matchI was super excited to get my set in. I have dyed my hair on my own multiple times so I figured this would be no different. As soon as I put the root touch up on I questioned the color. It had a red tint which keep in mind my roots were already natural without a color. My roots came out red !!!! Keep in mind my dye was set to be chocolate brown. Absolutely TerribleBy far the worst hair colour I have ever used. The smell of what I presume is ammonia was so strong that it made my eyes water and I had to open all the windows in the house, it was a struggle to keep on for the recommended time because of this. I had requested to lighten my hair but instead it came out a few shades darker, the colour is very flat and has an orange tinge to it, there is absolutely no shine whatsoever. I’ve washed my hair 3 times since colouring with a clarifying shampoo to try to fade the awful colour, but my hair still stinks and it’s unbearable. could not open the colour bottle!Came in a nicely presented box but that was it. When I went to colour my hair I could not open the colour bottle despite using all sorts of gadgets; it was wedged tight and was unopenable. As I was all set up to colour my hair with my new Salon product that I was looking forward to using, I wasn't about to be defeated so I made a hole in it & got some of it out into a bowl. Having followed the instructions to the letter the end result was disappointing, the colour was far lighter than anticipated & didn't cover the grey round the edges at all. Bad product and customer service.I have dark brown hair. I went through the entire process with this company so that they could customize my hair color. When I applied their customized formula I noticed it was a bright red. My results were a bright red roots because if my new growth and the rest of my hair remained dark. Color was just okI ordered light brown with ash/neutralizer as my hair had multiple layers of regrowth, old salon color, and old ombré. The color is much darker then I expected and I still have red undertones in my regrowth which clash with the old salon color. I wish I just bought a box at the drugstore.Admittedly, I was a hard case to start with. Lots of roots, lots of gray, lots of highlights that ranged from golden blonde to very baby blonde. My eSalon kit included a colorfill and is demi-permanent. I was hoping for a very dark ash blonde, close to my natural color. What I ended up with is dark, warm brown ends with golden brown midlengths and lots of gray showing through. It's completely incoherent as a color. The condition looks better than the heavily highlighted blonde I had before, but the color is...blech. It's very flat, no dimension, and looks more like the old highlights were just stained dark instead of a true color change. I'm hoping I can wash it a lot and it will fade quickly to something I can just color over with a dark blonde permanent box dye. Great colorFor the first time in 5 years, I was somewhat disappointed in my results. My color choice hasn't changed, but it seems like the color, once mixed was significantly thicker than it has been previously. I kept the color on the length of time I normally do but it did not seem to cover as well this time. DisappointmentI was disappointed that no brush was included. I was so excited to finally have my hair done only to find out at that point that no pressure is included in a repeat order. I emailed, no response. I called up and was told I’d have to pay an extra $1.29 for a brush.But I wanted to return the product I was told because I open the box there would be a $15 charge. Color not right and made hair feel like strawI wanted to love esalon but it is just not working for me. I am very experienced with coloring my hair at home. I asked for light cool ash brown. The first color was very warm and also gave me hot roots. I also felt like my hair was very dry and dull looking after the color and it seemed to fade off my grey after 2 weeks (which was only FIVE washes - and this was permanent color!) Went to cancel and they offered to redo it for free so I tried again asking for even more ash to cancel the brass. This came out a bit less warm but was still nowhere near "ash". Same dry feeling and dull looking hair, and same ridiculously fast fading. Super bummed after reading so many positive reviews and cancelling for good this time. Update in July 2020. What happened???Edit July 30, 2020: Just tried the "new formulation". Awful. It was more difficult to apply and definitely did not rinse out easier. When I went to add the water for the ends refresh, it was like concrete in the bottom of the bottle. This new formulation is no improvement. My hair feels like straw. I've been using this service for 3 years but this has me rethinking it. 2017: Just finished coloring my hair and it's exactly the shade that I'd hoped for. Directions were clear and easy to follow. I've been using your color for seven years.I've always been very happy with the results until the last coloring, which damaged my hair. I also notice that you changed the conditioner which seems to make a huge difference in the softness of the colored hair. Not sure if this was what made the difference but there was noticeable damage. Great color but terrible chemicalsI loved the color and communication from the stylist. The product also shipped quickly even though I didn't pay extra for them to expedite my order. The service was excellent. However, the chemicals were far more potent than any dye I've used before. My partner could smell the dye from multiple rooms away. My scalp felt like it was burning, and I had difficulty breathing. I couldn't open my eyes when I washed it out because they felt like they were burning. Of course all dyes have chemicals that are arguably toxic, and everyone's body reacts differently to different formulas. But I definitely can't use this dye again, and I'm hesitant to recommend it to others. Of course, you might have a completely different experience. Awful Smell and Dried out my HairThe smell was horrible. My husband walked in to the bathroom and gagged. I almost couldn't breathe. There was just so, much chemical. During the coloring my hair felt stiff. I thought about washing it out, but waited the recommended 30-minutes. As I started massaging the product out of my hair, my hair began coming out and coating my hands. At one point I was just running my fingers through my hair and it was coming out. Not I expectedI have been told that I am dark blonde. I selected dark blonde (copper pearl,) thinking that it would be close to my hair color and would add a hint of red. It at least looked close to my hair color in the picture. What I ended up with is complete copper, much lighter than my natural hair and not at all like what the picture looks. I have put a request in for help and to see if I can get something darker. I also found that the formula was very pungent and stung my eyes after I had mixed everything together. Great product but shipping delays HUGEThis is the 3rd time I have received an order from esalon. The first came when expected. As did the 2nd. The 3rd I ordered to have on July 1, however, it was not received until July 24th, much too late, resulting in me having to go out and buy another hair dye to use. It all works well until you have a problemI really loved the haircolour and the presentation. The colour lasted quite a while. But then I had a problem with my PayPal and I needed to change email address for my orders. Somehow it was a huge problem. My order was cancelled which I didnt ask to. I was asked to place another order and when I tried, all my items were full price. Nobody willing to help via email and asking me to call international phone number. Listen to the needs of your clients.My review is based on the fact I reintereated several times that dark color is not flattering on me. Also that I needed a medium dark color to cover grays but not too dark and to add some red and gold tones. The color I received was dark brown exactly what I asked it not to be. The color was a disasterThe color I received was too dark for my complexion. It was a dark brown. I sent a selfie of the results and a picture of the color red I was seeking. (reddish orange). The response I got back was to go to a store and buy a color remover. The next month I received the EXACT SAME COLOR! Roots and endsDisappointed as my roots turned out to be a completely different colour from the ends with a distinctive line.
