I’ve never dyed my hair previously and throughout my life had always gone to expensive salons to get my hair dyed. Lockdown and constantly using sticky cover-up sprays to hide my grey hair roots made me to reconsider whether I could dye my own hair at home but had heard so many horror stories about people buying boxed dye and things not going to plan with disastrous results that I put it out of my mind. After finding e salon online, I took the plunge and uploaded a very recent photo of myself and gave details of the blonde/golden colour that I wanted to cover my grey roots whilst also blending in with the dyed ash type faded blonde I already had. After I received my kit, I was so nervous at first that I very nearly didn’t go ahead but so glad I changed my mind and eventually took the plunge. I’m glad that I used the expertise of the e salon colourists to mix the colour instead of buying boxed dye kits. I can honestly say that the colour I received from E salon/ Sabrina B is absolutely perfect for me and just what I requested and wanted and blends/matches my existing dyed blonde hair whilst also including more warmth which is what I hoped for. My hair has been left feeling soft and shiny and looks the best that it has in years. Also it’s a colour that I’ve always tried to attain when I visited salons in the past and failed. If anything good has come out of lockdown, it’s finding this company with their excellent products and colourists. There’s no going back to the salon now. Thank you Sabrina x

My hair is returning after nearly a year post-chemo. My once beautiful blonde hair came back curly and FULL of gray - and now dark! I needed something just to cover grays and boost my self-confidence. This was amazing and I’ve received numerous compliments. Trying to slowly go lighter until I’m close to my normal 1.5 years ago!

Although it is not the colour that I would have chosen, it has turned out nice. I was wanting a dark brown, to match my normal hair colour, But my stylist thought that it would be better to go darker gradually. I am pleased that this was suggested to me. I am happy with the colour, it has coloured evenly.
A suggestion would be to put the patch test in the colouring instructions, as this was missed out because I did not open the shampoo box until the end. Also, another suggestion, why cant you add a small tub of the colour to be patch tested.

This was my first time trying this hair dye and after I had ordered the color, I had second thoughts on if it were going to be what I even really wanted. My hair had tints of red that wouldn’t go away. I had picked the dark golden brown that was recommended to me and was afraid that it may be too dark which usually makes me feel like my hair looks unnatural. Once it came, I dyed my hair disregarding the concerns I had and to my surprise the color is vibrant and natural looking instantly. The golden tints came through and I see no red that I had. I will be ordering my dye from here going forward!

I was very leery about coloring my own hair. The one other time I did it with store products was horrible. Since this pandemic, the last I had my hair colored was back in Jan. I figured why not give it a try. My hair was limp and pretty grey under layers. The color came out great! Will not be returning to a salon! I don’t usually review, but you owe it too yourself to try this product!

Love the color, more so than when I had my stylist color my hair.
Waited a week to color my hair as I was a little worried.
As it turned out I didn't color the roots very well. My husband did a better job on the back of my head. Still very happy with the overall results.
Next time I will use a bowl and the brush instead of using the bottle, found it a little hard getting enough product on the roots from the bottle.

The colour has come out really nice and unlike the last home dye I used which was supposedly dark brown and came out like a goth, it matches exactly what I wanted, suits my skin tone, I can tell it was made for me, and my husband says looks a nice natural colour. Pleased all round! The only reason I am giving it a 4 not a 5 is that I can still see a few greys but maybe that was down to me rather than the dye.

So I am a bit of a diva when it comes to my hair and because of covid I needed for the first time to do it myself. It was really easy and the instructions were good. I didn't use their shampoo/conditioner because I have really sensitive skin to soaps but the condition of my hair after was so much better than usual so I think there must be something really conditioning in the colour. I went from blonde to red and the colour turned out pretty close to how I was expecting it to look. The only thing is that the ends are a lot lighter than the roots so the colour may not have been matched perfectly. I'll fix it but I'm just happy it looks ok and didn't ruin my hair. People have said it looks better now than when I was paying a lot of money at the salon so I'll definitely continue with it.

I was a bit sceptical about trying this but thought I might as well give it a go, as I colour my own hair anyway and it would be nice to get a nice even colour and if i didn't try it I would never know. I uploaded lots of pictures of my hair from all different angles and lifting the hair up so that the stylists could see what my colour was like all over. A few days after my order, I received an email telling me that they had changed my colour to something different to what I had chosen as it didn't seem to fit my photos. When it arrived, it was so easy to apply and the instructions were really good and easy to follow. You get everything you would ever need to colour your hair. When I took the colour off, I was amazed at the lovely vibrant colour, I must say I really loved it, its the best colour my hair has been in years. I'm so glad I gave it a go, I don't think I could change now.

Love the color - gave 4 stars because it didn't cover all the gray like I expected, however I will be ordering again soon and hopefully I will be able to rate it with five stars! Loved the color and my hair did not dry out like it does with store brand colors!

I love the color, just need the toner to be increased to a higher volume (Developer), I think it is volume 10 (?), so maybe increase to 20?, as I am still getting hot roots, otherwise love the product. I have requested with a picture showing hot roots, but was not changed. If changed, would be perfect! Thank you!

Thought I would try Esalon during lockdown due to not being able to get my hair coloured at the hairdressers. I wasn’t disappointed! I thought the overall colour was a lovely brown with hints of lighter golden tones coming through, it’s turned out darker than I expected but that’s probably my fault selecting the shade incorrectly, love it anyway. Also covered my stubborn grey hair very well, there’s nothing worse than dying your hair & still be able to see hints of grey! I’m very happy with the product, packaging, instructions & service. Thanks.

My hairdressser advised the colour she had been using prior to lockdown (3n).
Using that number I ordered a set to just cover grey roots.
Great communication on delivery details.
Received set and found it easy to use.
I did have an initial query regarding where the health & Saftey leaflet was with details on patch test (turns out it was in one of the little boxes). I emailed back my personal stylist but no response which delayed me from using. However when I called I was helped straight away. I think there is obviously delays due to Covid but as I got help on phone this is not an issue. Perhaps try this first as its a freephone number on landline (0800) and during these times its understandable rep's may be stretched.
The application was easy but there was a load of the product left over which seems a bit of a waste. I could easily have used for a second and third top up. It would be great if they could advise ratios for the two products you mix so you can perhaps use just half for a root touch up. However the colour came out great, Absolutely perfect match. Will definitely buy again.

I love the color, I have a lot of hair and the amount sent was enough. I amazed about that but my stubborn little hairs near the cheeks, did not want to cover with the color. I expect that the color lasts at least 3 weeks

I have an mistake in choose the color of my roots but its ok the one color i try. Now i want to try another one because i want another color in my roots with streaks in all my hair.I like how quickly the roots take the color and how my hair look when i finish them. My hair look soft, shine, and healthy. I loved.

Used a product that worked so well. I admit I was skeptical due to the amount of color brands and techniques that I have tried to color and keep colored, the age-revealing grays on the top of my head. I have wasted so much money on color week after week, not only at regular stores, but also on product from Sally's....only to have it appear as if I had not even colored and I mean Instantly I could still see the grays. Wash out happened within one week. I wondered how could this be any different?
I used everything given to me in the eSalon kit, which is very nice by the way. I chose autoship for the discount at first; however, I will be keeping it, because my hair is just starting to show gray after 4 washes. My hair is down to my arse and I only wash once a week. It is the only way to go, as I do not use styling products with the acception of a smoother for straightening. I actually have never in my life washed my hair more than once a week unless I used Aquanet or some hair glue like that LOL. Well..anyway...eSalon color is the only way to go. I have boxed color still sitting under my sink in case this didn't go well...and now it will go back to the store. YEEHA!!!! I wasn't even tempted to highlight my hair to hide the gray for summer. Give it a try, choose priority shipping to get it faster, and enjoy your full color. Love it. Thank you.

I have ordered 2x from Esalon. My 3rd order is due With covid-19 everything is closed. I like this company because if the color is not right customer service always adjust it. I leave the color on a little longer to the cover the grays. Delivery is always on time.. All in all great company n great customer service.

C'était ma 1ère commande et de plus pendant le confinement. Je m'attendais donc à un délai de livraison long, ça n'a pas été le cas. Les explications d'application sont claires et simples. La couleur obtenue a été celle que j'espérais, les cheveux blancs très nombreux parfaitement couverts. Pas de démangeaisons, cheveux très btillants. Bref, super contente. I purchased this product after reading many reviews...glad I did! Hair color looked natural with great shine. What I don’t like is that for second & ongoing orders, price has doubled so will see if it’s worth it going forward.

Love the color and product. Was the perfect thing to use, both, because during the pandemic, salons are closed AND appreciated the savings! Second shipment WILL NOT INCLUDE THE TINT BRUSH AND ESALON WILL NOT SEND ANOTHER. So...FYI save your tint brush or be forever without one!

I am in my early 50s with lots of grey (sigh) but I'm a fit, active 50-something who's not ready to go grey. Since my early 30s, I've faithfully done salon-only color. But, I moved this past January 3 hours away from my favorite colorist and, as I was settling into my new home & was ready to find a new salon, COVID-19 shut everything down in my area. Plus I moved to a major metropolitan area & I was aghast at the thought of spending $200-$300 every 5-6 weeks for color in my area.... My sister recommended eSalon, so I decided to give eSalon a try. I've now done 2 rounds of color 6 weeks apart & I've been SO happy with the results on my shoulder-length, spiral-curly hair that's very fine & dry. The last round, I asked for an adjustment to add in my copper & gold to my dark brown shade & I referenced a photo on eSalon's website. The eSalon colorist did a GREAT job of formulating a change that gave me EXACTLY what I asked for in my new color. I am so THRILLED with the results....I'm planning to to stay with eSalon moving forward since it gives me great color at an affordable price. :-)

I can’t believe just how good this colour is. It was exactly the colour I wanted and has given my hair a deep, shiny, beautiful chocolate brown colour. I love the personalisation and it adds that little bit extra. Can’t recommend this company enough.

Tried during stay in place. My husband did my root touch up. Surprised by how well it turned out. I go to high end salon. Going forward I will do monthly touch up at home and go to salon for highlights

I thought that e-Salon was wonderful. First time coloring my hair, and had to find a video on line to show me how to put on the Color. I did not find it on your salon.com I spilled some of the color, which was not fun, but there was still enough to do my hair. First time. I think I put the color in the wrong place - it was fragile. I got a plastic container from my kitchen, and put the dye in there. It was a lot more sturdy. I will try this again - really miss my highlights. Can I get highlights from you also to have a little blondish to make my hair lighter here and there? Thanks.

I decided to go with semi permanent instead of permanent as I don't like the line that occurs as grays grow out with permanent. This covered the gray very well and is holding wash after wash.

This product was very easy to use. It covered my gray quite well. I would have liked it to be a bit darker as my hair had faded quite a bit. But I would definitely use them again.

Some of the box color kits you buy in the store give you uneven tones and I have black hair that gets a red tone to it. E Salon color gives me even tones with no red E Salon also lasts longer. I am only coloring about every 6 to 8 weeks. Thank you E Salon

I have been using box hair color for years and my hair was starting to show it. It was really dry and the gray wasn't absorbing the color. My eSalon color is beautiful, the gray is covered, and my hair is soft.

This color really compares to the professional salon color I was getting. My 1st color I purchased at a beauty supply faded & showed up in my towel every time I washed my hair the entire 6 weeks it was on my hair & left my hair feeling like straw unlike my professional salon color that only faded once or twice after I had my hair colored. E Salon color is like the professional salon color that way and leaves my hair feeling very silky & shiny like my professional salon color did. So eSalon color easily equals professional coloring in my experience. The color is good, fading is minimal and I like how it looks weeks later. I love how silky it left my hair feeling. More like healthy hair. So I'm definitely sold on eSalon and the coloring of choice!

I purchased my root touch up kit a couple of months ago when lockdown came. I’ve just plucked up the courage to use it as initially I was a bit wary about using it! It was a bit tricky to apply just to the roots as my hair is long but with the help of my husband (!) this was managed and I was very impressed with the outcome. It covered my grey roots perfectly and didn’t interfere with my highlights which was what I was worried about. I do enjoy my salon trips but they come around too quick so I would definitely use this in between visits again.

Due to the COVID and salons closed, I had to get rid of the greys in my hair. I spent endless hours studying videos and never dyed my own hair. Since I am a dark blond, I also do low lights and highlights on my hair and I have an amazing stylist that has done my hair for several years. I tried it for the first time, and the match was perfect and my hair was so incredibly soft and shiny. I would give myself a solid B, but I plan on perfecting it with the next round of color. (I missed a couple of spots on the back of my head, I am also very critical of my hair. Thank you e-salon I am a true and loyal customer going forward.

I admit to great trepidation about coloring my own hair, something I've never done before, but this worked really well. The actual color was exactly my color and although all of the gray wasn't covered due to my own learning curve, it was amazingly better. My hair is very dark and this took care of the skunk stripe at my part. I thought the actual process was pretty messy and I didn't love that, but that is NOT the fault of the product. Final words: great luminous and dimensional color.

I love the color! The whole process was great from picking my color to drying my hair. 4 stars because the smell knocked my socks off. I’m not used to dying my own hair, but the smell seemed excessively strong 🤷🏼♀️ Again, love the color. I was going for “as natural as possible.” Had my husband not known I was dying it, he would not have noticed!

I have found it very challenging to find a dark brown with red/copper tones that isn’t too brassy, fades too quickly (especially from my ends), or is almost burgundy looking... until eSalon changed the game! (I’m naturally a light dishwater brown, but prefer a bit darker and more red to work with the fair skin and eyes).
I am very happy with the color, quality, and especially the price! I believe in the benefits of utilizing professional stylists, but this teacher-mama finds salon coloring cost prohibitive. Can’t speak to the gray coverage, but the sparse few at my temples still aren’t showing, and in general the color hasn’t noticeably faded three weeks later!
Definitely going to use eSalon in future!

While I typically salon color my hair, during COVID-19 I found it was necessary to attempt to find another way. I am probably 75% grey and unfortunately I did not get the amount of full coverage I was looking for. Some of this may be attributed to my inexperience....it has been a long time since I have done it myself! But overall color shade, health of hair after coloring were all positive, as was the kit. They did a really good job of providing the product and instructions. I will order a second time and am hoping for better results.

Color worked out well, maybe a bit too dark so I'll try a shade lighter next time. It covered my grey beautifully and color did not bleed or wash off at all after two weeks.

I love that this lightest blonde is not at all brassy and looks very natural. I like it very much and will continue using it. Since this is a first for me - coloring my own hair - I'm terrible at the process, but somehow getting it done! (The reason for the four star instead of five is that it doesn't look as good as when I went to my salon and had both highlights and lowlights done).

Felt like I was cheating on my hairdresser

I love my hairdresser and have been her client for 30+ years, but the last few years I noticed the price going up small amounts each time. I was on the internet and an ad came up for esalon, I found it very interesting and had to research more. As much as I loved everything about esalon I was still nervous and went back to my stylist. Then Corona happened so I thought what a perfect time to try, and my hair really needed doing. I should mention I haven't colored my hair in 4 months. It was easy to order and fun. When it arrived it came in a cute box and the bottles had my name on them. The instructions were easy to follow and came with a sticker to hang on the mirror. The dye went on very easy and smelled just like the salon. The toner blended the roots with the ends and did a terrific job. The kit comes with 2 little packets of shampoo and conditioner, the shampoo was fabulous I never had a shampoo that had so much lather, the conditioner was just ok. The colour came out fabulous and its 2 weeks now and it still looks fantastic, I even had a compliment yesterday.

Using this custom color was a new experience but the results were worth it. I just wish the grey around my face had held color a little longer - just two weeks after coloring the grey is showing through at my temples. But the color is exactly what I was hoping for, its rich, has depth and my hair feels wonderful! I love that the color does not wash away with each shampoo.

So pleased with the hair dye, I sent a photo of myself in natural light taken outside and made sure I used a mirror while colour matching my hair to the online swatches, when it arrived I was worried as never done this before, anyway applied to just my roots and my hair line to cover the grey and waited the time and washed it off and dried it and can't believe the colour match, it looked really dark brown the dye when on so was trying not to panic and stick with it but it came up the perfect light brown blonde, not even a line to show the join! So pleased and looking forward to using it again! Also my hair seems to be in a lovely condition!

I cannot believe it. In the 25 yrs I have had my hair colored- I have never had the nerve to do it myself. I covered my roots with e-salon and I can’t believe how perfect it turned out... no lines and the perfect color match. Still can’t believe it....

I love how easy the process is and the instructions were easy to follow. The only thing was that the toner they sent me pulled some red/orange tone. I will have to purchase the other toner. Overall, I am happy with the service.

The product smelled nice, not harsh or like chemicals. Easy to use directions! After about a week and a half, I did start seeing the "grays" turn lighter and I was a bit disappointed with that. Over all, I would recommend this product.

Great colour match, amazing kit and easy to follow instructions. I just don't feel that it has lasted very long as it needs to be done again after only 3 or 4 weeks. I can't tell if it has washed out or if its just hair regrowth, I only coloured my roots. I know e-Salon team can't control my hair regrowth and I would definitely recommend this product. Just loved, loved, loved the colour!

My roots turned out a little too dark which is the absolute ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, but overall the color was amazingly conditioning, and easy on my hair. The color turned out beautifully and as a set, the instructions were super easy to follow and all the little odd and ends that came with including the hairline guard and stain remover was amazing. Best choice overall for at home coloring!

I went grey in my 30s, and when really thick coarse hair goes grey, it gets kinky and unruly. Only a straightening iron has ever made my hair shiny since then.
Until now!!! Holy cow... the esalon color is so rich and my hair is so shiny, I need sunglasses to look in the mirror! I use their shampoo and conditioner as well, since it's all part of the ecosystem. I just switched to the Classic version, and hope it's as amazing as everyone says.
It's not cheap, since my roots need to be done every few weeks, but my hair looks so great I don't care, And I just got the camo wand (hair mascara). The coverage is nice and solid, which will extend the time between colourings a bit.
I'm really excited to try the purple rinse too... I'll update with a new pic when I do.
But there are drawbacks to esalon too. I'm not thrilled that to get free shipping I'd always have to buy quite a bit more than what I need. And even before the current cross-border situation, it took forever for my order to get to Canada... close to three weeks! Having to pay AND still have a long delay - that's pretty hard to swallow in the Amazon era of free next day shipping.
But unless a competitor shows up with equally good products AND free shipping, I'm sticking with this group.

My natural hair color is not easy to define let alone match. Esalon got it right the first time and I was very pleased. My hair felt great and the color seems to be holding well. I experienced 2 concerns that should be considered. I sent follow up questions by email which were not answered. (I expected the reply to be slow due to the current situation. But my questions were not answered in any way.) Also there is a lot of packaging, which is necessary to some degree. I believe that the packaging could be greener, with cardboard inserts to replace plastic ones and the option to pay a little more for reusable items like brushes and sturdier gloves. (Tye gloves were so cheap that one of them ripped to shreds as I was trying to put it on.) That way, the orders would only include color which would itself reduce the amount of packaging.

Totally on the money when it came to getting the colour correct; seamless blending of root greys with hair lengths so as to avoid obvious regrowth, and oh so easy to apply - who needs to go to a salon, wouldn't change a thing!!

I’m waiting on my second shipment. The first one was good, but adjustments will make it better. I like being able to communicate directly with the staff, express my concerns and hopefully have an even better product. I can’t wait!

I usually don't leave reviews, good or bad, it's just not my thing. However, I really felt moved to do so about this product! I was super excited to receive my hair color finally yesterday, and honestly was really just hoping to cover my gray in my roots. I had resigned myself to the fact that my brown roots wouldn't lighten enough to match my blond hair, but in a time like this, I was happy to just get rid of the grays, and I'd deal with the brown later when my hairdresser opened back up. I was BLOWN AWAY that this color lightened my roots and matched the rest of my hair PERFECTLY! I was texting all of my friends to show them, I was just so elated! Other than user error of not being able to reach a spot or too in the back (not showing), this product was fantastic. Kudos to the color specialist who put this together! I'm recommending to all of my friends and family!!
