Loved this product at first. Would have recommend it to anyone. I got the exact color I wanted. no burning or scalp irritation, easy to apply, the packaging is so cute. But…… after several months of use (every 6 weeks to 2 months I would do my roots) IT FRIED MY HAIR!!! ITS LIKE STRAW!!! I then realized that with continued use it kills your hair. So at first it looked great because my hair was already really healthy. Now after several applications it’s dead, fried. Had better results with L’Oréal and Clairol. And it was less expensive. Canceled my subscription.

I had such high expectations, particularly as my hair is quite lightened anyway. Much darker than expected, have discussed with customer services, and re-formulating colour.
However condition was lovely, and super easy to apply! Will review once my reformulation has been created, and I have tried.

Schöne Farbe, aber zu wenig

Gut sind die leicht verständliche Anleitung und dass man Dank der Extras keine unschönen Farbflecken auf der Haut bekommt.
Ich hatte angegeben, wie lang meine Haare sind (bis Unterkante Schulterblatt). Geliefert wurden zwei unterschiedliche Farbtöne, für den Ansatz und für die Längen, je eine Flasche.
Für die Längen habe ich zum verteilen der Farbe den zugehörigen Pinsel benutzt. Leider hat die Farbe nicht ausgereicht. Ich habe die übrige Farbe so gut verteilt, wie es ging. Leider ist das Ergebnis daher nicht so gleichmäßig, wie ich es erwartet hätte. Und das, obwohl ich mir deutlich mehr Mühe gegeben habe als bisher beim Haare färben und die Anweisungen befolgt habe und meine Haarlänge angegeben hatte. Ich hätte nicht erwartet, dass es an der Produktmenge scheitert. :(

I like the convenience of it. , prep and application very easy. The color did not take around my face. I even applied it twice. Not sure if it this could be fixed. The color was very nice in the places it worked.

I had a salon colour and roots were growing in (hi covid)... I decided to give this a try. They suggested demi permanent. After 2 washes I could notice my roots again. After 3 - my roots are back. :(
They are less noticeable than prior to coloring but definetely noticable.
The good news is - I made no mess on my skin (my stylest stains my skin and clothes so this was greatl!) (because they provide you with protection!!)
Packaging makes this easy and specialized.
This was worth a try. I will see if I can get something more permanent or refresh with the second containers they add on the first order (in case u have lots of hair).
Great price but the price doubles after the first order.
I would give it a try.

The color is great! I'm very pleased with that part. The actual gray coverage didn't seem to take as well this time. I followed all of the instructions and tried to target the gray patches first, but the coverage wasn't nearly as good as my previous bottle.

Fatta oggi la tinta, mi ero preoccupata non arrivasse per via del ritardo rispetto alla data prevista ma è arrivata, forse ho scelto un colore troppo scuro ma oggi non c'è sole quindi non rende i capelli bianchi tutti spariti sono molto contenta adesso manca solo da constatare la durata, per ora sono molto soddisfatta.
Purtroppo dopo la felicità iniziale nel giro di due settimane avevo nuovamente i capelli bianchi non per ricrescita, ma proprio si sono stinti alla fine mi costa quanto andare dal parrucchiere la sua tinta non va via e aspetto la ricreacita

I specifically asked for an ashy light brown what my hair is is orange brown and this was on new growth with no color on it to affect the color application. The process is easy and the product box, instructions and application items are good quality.

I was really excited to try this product. I have some experience lightening and dying my hair at home as well as going to the salon, so I thought this would be the perfect happy medium between the two.
I uploaded a couple pictures, and thought I provided all the right details. I even mentioned I'd likely be trying to refresh my own balayage highlights with the product. I had picked something copper-blonde, while my hair is currently medium brown with some grown out highlights. I see now they have a clay-based lightener product, and that is definitely what I should have went with. Although you would think my "personal colorist" would have reached out with that option since I mentioned it. I didn't hear from her except for a "hope you like your color" in my email that my product had shipped.
I was worried right away when I received the product. It came with only a 20 volume developer. That didn't seem like it would be strong enough to turn medium brown hair to a blonde. But I decided to trust the process!
Unfortunately I was right. The hair color actually darkened my hair! I think since it wasn't a strong enough developer, my hair didn't really lighten, while the coppery color that was deposited was darker than my natural hair color, and especially got rid of my highlights. Even though the color said it was a blonde, I definitely have brown hair, so I was surprised that it darkened. I was hoping worst case that it wouldn't be noticeable change. I double processed some sections of my hair to get a tiny bit of highlighted copper color, but it's still barely noticable and darker than it was before. Considering they were old highlighted sections, those should have been too light if anything!
The concept, website, and packaging was all very cute. Unfortunately it leaves a lot to be desired in actual function. I could have done better myself without waiting for shipping by going to the drug store and picking a random blonde box dye.

Die Haarfarbe ist gut, die Produkte sind insgesamt sehr gut.
Mich stört, dieser Aufwand und die damit verbundene Schmiererei.
Deshalb hatte ich die Eigenfärbung auch vor Jahren aufgegeben.
Als Notlösung für geschlossene Friseure eine gute Alternative.

My last color I was not as happy with . My fault the first mix was perfect. I have been looking for the perfect color for me I just can't seem to get it right. The colors and the packaging are beautiful. I will recommend to anyone I know who uses color. I simply can't afford it but I am also impatient and don't want to wait to long to color again. I love the colour and the way it makes my hair look. The problem I had was my gray hair wasn't completely covered. I followed the instructions and I am wondering should I leave it on longer than 30 minutes? I will give it one more try and see what happens. I really would like to continue using this product.

My review I really love that esalon hair color does not dry out ur hair that if using other hair color products & I have used many due to drying & breakage. Hair always looks shining & alive not dead dry hair looking like dried dead plants or weeds. But hopeful that we can get excellent gray longer lasting coverage & not turn rest of my hair blk. J'avais les cheveux roux suite à une couleur rouge faite en salon qui a viré...
J'ai voulu faire chataine foncé irisé (reflet violet)...
Coloration facile à appliquer avec les accessoires nécessaires, des explications détaillés, colis super !
Le résultat : châtain foncé avec des reflets rouge, je ne vois pas trop les reflets violet mais je pense que cela vient du fait de ma couleur rousse... A voir avec la prochain colis. Je viens de faire une demande d'ajustement de couleur avec photo avant/après/résultats souhaités... Plus qu'à attendre

I have ordered a colour called Cool Beige but it look orange on my hair. I have enclosed pictures and description of my hair. Hair is also darker than anticipated by picture of a model on a website. As a positive my hair look nourished and shiny after treatment and are not damaged. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. Delivery was quick.

I was so looking forward to a bit of Salon feel but at home but after using this dye I can only compare myself to a Lego head it’s just black no variety of colours that make it look a bit more natural that you get with other at home colours I use. it literally looks like someone has put a black carpet on my head and cut around it to my hair length.
I was so looking forward to this so I can order and go and I’ll have the same colour every 6 weeks I don’t have to think about it or worry that there won’t be the right colour when it comes to dying my hair but it’s just not for me.
I don’t want to out anyone off at all and I know some people like the solid block colour but a lot of home box dyes you do get a more natural finish.

After reading reviews and watching videos I felt good about my purchase. The color was amazing, it was exactly what I had been looking for. I ordered and right on time it showed up in the mail.
I had a retired licensed hairdresser color my hair. The process was smooth and easy. It came time to rinse the color and dry my hair.
My hair is no where close to the color that I ordered. I will give it another shot with a different color maybe but I'm not sure.

Easy to use as far as a coloring product. I have noticed that since the formula changes my gray coverage is noticeably reduced. I hope this improves, I have been using esalon for many years and don't really want to change.

Ich fand es einen schönen Service, Farbe personifiziert zu bekommen.
Ich habe dunkel aschblondes Haar mit Strähnen in hellem blond. Mit einem violetten Shampoo vom Friseur bekomme ich immer meinen kühlen Ton hin, da ich selbst gut Strähnen mit Folie setzen kann
Aufgrund von Corona brauchte ich also nur noch die richtige Farbe zum Erneuern und habe mich sehr auf die Lieferung gefreut. Es hat etwas gedauert bis es geliefert wurde. Die Lieferung war aber sehr umfangreich- Handschuhe und Pinsel, zusätzlich Pflegeprodukte. Schöner Service.
Die Farbe jedoch ist total daneben. Ich habe orange Ansätze. Und leider sind diese nicht zu verändern, obwohl ich mir nach ausführlicher Beratung durch einen Friseur für nunmehr 30 Euro Profiprudukte kaufen musste. Unverändert orange. Das ist wirklich ärgerlich. Ich werde keine weiteren Farben mehr bestellen. Schade

The box is cool, the process is cool, even the dye looked promising. These colors aren't formulated for red hair. Blonde is the closest base. The hair color was supposed to take my natural hair color to a more intense copper. It took my beautiful red hair and turned it orange, blonde and pinkish. I uploaded videos. The color match was perfect. The dye sucks.

Hi! So I’m a cool complexion and this color is more for a warm! Also I want to change the color to more of a high lift blonde! It can have some strawberry blonde to it. Maybe there’s a high lift strawberry blonde that’s not brassy? And it would still need to be for a cool complexion. I’m sticking with y’all until we get the perfect color and beyond! You’re my favorite hair care company. So don’t worry if we don’t get it right the first hundred times k. We will figure out a perfect color for me eventually. I’m just learning what I like. Definitely does have to have really good gray coverage! I need to hide these grays 😂

I ordered ash blonde in order to make my blonde hair a little darker and duller. Ash blonde is a colour I used to use when I dyed my own hair. Since switching to a professional, I couldn't say the exact tones used but definitely not ashy. What I actually ended up with was ginger hair - not an ashy tone in sight. My concerns about the colour haven't been addressed other than telling me to perform a strand test to ensure I'm satisfied with my colour before I apply to the full head. The 100% satisfaction guarantee has certainly not been met on this occasion nor has any 'professional' advice been offered by my 'personal colourist'. I have decided I will give eSalon one more chance to do something right by my hair before I resort back to a traditional face-to-face salon appointment as I feel my money so far has been wasted on the colour.

So I am a natural blonde level 9, the color I used to wasn't exactly what I was looking for however still a nice color. BUT when I called customer service I don't remember her name (Dang it!) but she was fabulous we ended up changing what I'll get in the future did it free of charge and explained hair language to me without making me feel stupid. Ya'll gained a new customer the customer service is wonderful not to mention I keep getting compliments on how shiny my hair is and it so soft!!

The product is gentle. No allergic reactions like I get from OTC hair dyes. This last mixture was very dark, a black shade. Not my dark brown.

I have been so impressed with my custom color set! It covers my grays and leaves my hair silky and smooth. I wish eSalon would use a different shipment carrier. Delivery takes from 7-14 days or longer. Thinking of changing because of long delays . Please consider changing delivery service so I don’t have to find a new color service.

Zunächst einmal möchte ich sagen, dass ich sehr zufrieden und beeindruckt war, über die Professionalität mit der das Unternehmen auftritt und welch beruhigendes Gefühl dies bei mir ausgelöst hat. Ich finde das Konzept fantastisch und auch das Paket mit den ganzen einzelnen Bestandteilen hat einen sehr guten Eindruck bei mir hinterlassen. Es wurde an alles gedacht und ich fühlte mich gut aufgehoben. Die Handhabung ist einfach und es ist toll, dass auch so viel im Vorwege abgefragt wird, um ein bestmögliches Ergebnis zu erzielen.
ABER leider wurde dieses Ziel bei mir sehr weit verfehlt. Meine Naturhaarfarbe ist helles aschblond und seit einigen Jahren benutze ich Schaumtönungen, die diese in einen blonden Goldkupferton zaubern, der sich aber stetig wieder auswäscht, habe dies aber das letzte Mal vor knapp sechs Wochen gemacht. Meine naturgelockten Haare verpasse ich seit knapp zwei Jahren regelmäßig eine Dauerwelle, um mein Volumen erfolgreich zu erhöhen (auch angegeben). Ich bin also ein rotblonder Lockenkopf mit viel Volumen und wollte das auch bleiben und dachte, ich probiere nach langer Färbeabstinenz das vielversprechende Angebot von esalon aus.
Aber anstelle der wunderschönen ausgesuchten Haarfarbe 7.43 sind diese nun dunkelblond mit einem Rotstich, der nur im Sonnenlicht auffällt. Das Volumen ist rausgefallen, genauso wie die Dauerwelle.
Das Angebot eine kostenfreie Korrektur vornehmen zu lassen, habe ich abgelehnt, da ich meinen Haaren, nicht noch eine Behandlung in so kurzer Zeit zumuten möchte und ich bezweifle, dass diese plötzlich (gesund) heller gefärbt werden können, so wie es das Bild der Wunschhaarfarbe hergegeben hat.
Ich bin so sehr enttäuscht, die Farbe ist nicht nur überhaupt nicht das was es werden sollte, auch die Struktur hat sich komplett gewandelt.

Two Shades Darker...........Now what do I do?

I have been touching up my own roots in between professional hair coloring for 10 years. According to my colorist, I have become great at it. With salons in my area of California closed since March 12th, I felt I needed to do more than touch up my color. I filled out everything on eSalon and even sent them pictures taken in great light that perfectly captured my color. I am a professional who is blessed enough to still have a job and am on video calls all day with a professional camera and lighting that are often my close up.
My hair came out 2 shades darker! This is really a problem for me as I have gray roots on the crown of my head as well as below my temples. Now they will show in a few days given the dramatic contrast. And. I have no alternative but to maintain this terribly too dark color until professional salons open again. It is really upsetting to me and I have no idea how such a dramatic mistake could be made. I don't know the point of sending in a picture if they are going to mix something so dramatically different.
When I filled out the feedback form, they did reply immediately with an offer for free color and suggestions to use either a clarifying shampoo or a color stripper which shows they are completely insensitive to the situation. Many of us live in areas where we cannot get either color or a cut. How can you suggest people use damaging processes to correct your huge mistake when who knows when they will be able to get their roots cut off? I am very surprised others have had such good results and mine are so bad. Perhaps a new employee? Whatever it was, I am now faced with endless touch ups every two weeks at minimum to maintain this way too dark hair for my skin color until professional salons open to help me solve the problem.

I wrote to my colorist, “beware I tend to get very brassy.” I am naturally a dishwater blonde, but I typically got heavy ashy blonde highlights every 6 weeks. I was very excited to try this home color service. I’ve never colored my hair from home before. I was looking forward to saving time, money AND being able to color from home during the pandemic.....
The marketing of the product is fantastic and it was easy to use. Once I finished and dried my hair the color looked terrible, it is more of an dark brassy orange. When I saw a friend she asked if I’ve been washing my hair in iron water. The shampoo and conditioner they send smells great, giving it one more try before I cancel my subscription, hoping for a better result.

A good kit, but should have stuck to my guns on the colour I picked

The kit that comes with it is good. The 2 pairs of gloves (although may be a little tight if you had large hands), the stain remover and guard etc all great. I like the style of the packaging and how quick its received. But let's be real, this product is really about the colour you get. I sent a photo, I wrote about what I wanted, but expressed I was flexible because I don't know about their shades and they're supposed to be experts. I don't use permanent colours usually, I use a semi permanent every now and then when my greys get on my nerves, but it had been a while. My ends had lightened a bit in the sun (given how much we've had and the fact that covid meant I'd had more time to spend in it) and they'd got a copper tiny due to my ginger relatives. I said I wanted a dark brown, clicked the shade and was advised alway from it. The instructions wanted more time spent on my roots ( even though they are the darkest part of my hair). The dye was on my end for 10 mins, plus a wash with the left overs, so you can still see some copper tones shining through. Its nice in the sense it looks natural, but I've basically got my own hair colour back. So now when it grows out there's no point in me using their service again (although it isn't as dark as I wanted it).

Ich sollte ein dunkelblond bekommen. Haben wollte ich helles blond aber hier wurde ich beraten, dass dies mit der Abdeckung der grauen Haare nicht gehen würde. Nun bin ich super dunkel mit rot. Sieht fast aus wie schwarz mit rot. So sah ich noch nie aus. Grauenvoll. Jede Farbe aus der Drogerie war bisher besser. Und das beste es schauen immer nich graue Haare durch. Schlimmer gehts nicht

Not at all what I requested, frustrated with the whole process.

I did a strand test last night as soon as my color kit arrived. I wanted a color that would be a mahogany or brownish red. I spent multiple days going back and forth through email with my colorist. This back and forth was prompted my a message I sent, explaining that I was "panicked" about the color I chose and was seeking professional guidance. The first colorist I spoke to was very understanding and explained that to achieve the color I wanted, I needed a color fill first since my hair is light. She made me feel better that the color could be tweaked so it wouldn't turn out too red or too orange. Then I was set up with another colorist in the middle of my exchange with the first one. I was unclear on whether the new colorist felt the same way about approach as the first, reviewed our correspondence etc. I tried to clarify all this with the second colorist through email. I explained that I reached our originally because I wasn't sure if the color I selected would give me the results I wanted based on the pictures I shared and my current color. This person was not forthcoming with any details regarding if my color needed to be adjusted, if there was any customization that would take place due to my vocalized fears etc. She just repeated that the color I chose was the right choice and I would be happy. The color kit I received did contain two bottles of color but they were the same color, didn't seem to be a fill color to darken my hair to get it ready for red. Thank goodness I watched the esalon videos on how to do a strand test. In contrast with my inspo pictures I shared with my colorist (Emma Stone red, brown hair, and others), what I got was a rosy, pinky blonde color that was very off putting, unnatural and nothing at all like the pictures I sent. I am very thankful that I did not apply to the rest of my hair. I can understand if what I asked for was unachievable given my current color but my colorist should have told me that and helped me adjust.

Die Farbe kam meinen Vorstellungen schon sehr nah, ich hätte diese noch krasser in Kupfer gehabt, Das einzige Negative ist, die Farbe stinkt extrem.
Sonst habe ich nichts negative zu beanstanden.
Ich freue mich auf meine nächste Lieferung, die hoffentlich bald kommt.

Color was perfect, better than salons. I'm a redhead, and there was no brassiness or fading. Texture was soft and smooth, not stiff like some over-the-counter products. My grays are resistant, so I'll need to keep the color on longer than instructed for better root coverage.

Hello, I found the product very easy to use and the amount just right. I have long hair down middle of my back, it’s fine but a lot of hair to work with. There was more than enough to do the job, I used to have to get 2 boxes to cover before. Instructions were great and colour perfect.

I love the color and product was easy to use. I was very skeptical about buying a hair color product on line but I am so pleased. I will not be going back to the salon for my color. THANK YOU e-salon.

Hi eSalon i love your customer service . I felt this was a win win in the end an thats what matters ? Yes an No depends on whom you ask do i want to see great color asap or after 3 shampoos? The color did. blend. Great with my white( no Grey's) hair but i didnt like color right away. Maybe ethic hair reacts different ( have nothing but color on my hair) so maybe something to look into great product. If you have patience.

Bonjour,
je viens de faire la couleur qui a très mal pris. Je l'ai laissée pourtant plus longtemps que prévu, et cependant j'ai plus de la moitié de cheveux blancs. Je peux vous envoyer une photo si vous le souhaitez.

I was expecting a little more lightening to happen since before doing this color application, my hair was natural and not dyed. This basically just toned my hair warm. I’m not upset, the box is well packaged, very clean, easy to follow instructions. The products smell good (for dye), and feel like great quality.

Ich bin super Happy mit meiner Farbe. Meine Friseurin wollte sofort wissen, wo ich die Farbe gekauft habe u. konnte sich kaum einkriegen. Muß nun erst abwarten, wielange sie hält. Wenn diese Norm auch noch erfüllt wird, werde ich nie wieder woanders bestellen. Wirklich ein super schöner Braunton u. gute Grauabdeckung.

Not the colour I was hoping for

I have just used my first esalon colour kit which I found really easy to use. The instructions were great and easy to follow and I’m pleased with the condition and feel of my hair after the colour has been applied.
The colour I have is not exactly what I wanted as there is far too much gold tones which on light brown hair looks very ‘orange’ in sunlight and glows. I asked not to have gold tones but to have ash. I wanted a much flatter and natural colour.

I expected my color to be more ash/platinum blonde. I have toned it and using the toner shampoo. It has to much brassiness to it. I would like to use color again but how can this be adjusted? I do love the shine it gave my hair. My hair is baby fine and the color seemed pretty gentle as apposed to color kits I have used before. Thank you. Kathy

Let's start with the good. The eSalon website is easy to navigate and fun to use. The kit I received came lightning fast, which I found very impressive. My colorist contacted me twice and the process felt refreshingly personal. I went into the coloring process feeling hopeful that I could stretch out salon visits with the help of this product. I read so many rave reviews! Well, there's a reason why I've been faithful to my stylist for years, and clearly I needed a reminder. Reds are hard to get right, and despite following the directions meticulously, my hair looks absolutely awful. It is four different colors and none of them are cute. I'm embarrassed! Overall, it seems like eSalon works for many, but not for me. No "color happiness" here.

The packaging was great, the application couldn't have been easier. I am not a novice at coloring and I thought I gave a pretty good explanation of the color I wanted. I even included a photo. My color is much more golden and less red than I prefer.

Same color as the salon...not the same results

I was so excited to try e-salon and loved the in-depth and visual process of choosing a hair color. I felt my choosing my color would be pretty straight forward as I contacted my local salon stylist for specific color information, as I was unable to see her due to covid-19. I chose the same color (level 3)...darkest brown...almost looks black. I was so delighted when I got my box and loved the instructions and ease of preparation. I applied it as directed to my roots mainly as to cover up my growth, which is lighter than my desired color and rest of my hair. After washing and drying my hair, I was so disappointed to see that my roots had not seemed to change color and were still lighter than my desired color. It seemed that possibly this level 3 was too light for me? I’m unsure. I am planning to go to the salon to have it properly covered up.
