Hi eSalon i love your customer service . I felt this was a win win in the end an thats what matters ? Yes an No depends on whom you ask do i want to see great color asap or after 3 shampoos? The color did. blend. Great with my white( no Grey's) hair but i didnt like color right away. Maybe ethic hair reacts different ( have nothing but color on my hair) so maybe something to look into great product. If you have patience.

I was expecting a little more lightening to happen since before doing this color application, my hair was natural and not dyed. This basically just toned my hair warm. I’m not upset, the box is well packaged, very clean, easy to follow instructions. The products smell good (for dye), and feel like great quality.

I have just used my first esalon colour kit which I found really easy to use. The instructions were great and easy to follow and I’m pleased with the condition and feel of my hair after the colour has been applied.
The colour I have is not exactly what I wanted as there is far too much gold tones which on light brown hair looks very ‘orange’ in sunlight and glows. I asked not to have gold tones but to have ash. I wanted a much flatter and natural colour.

I expected my color to be more ash/platinum blonde. I have toned it and using the toner shampoo. It has to much brassiness to it. I would like to use color again but how can this be adjusted? I do love the shine it gave my hair. My hair is baby fine and the color seemed pretty gentle as apposed to color kits I have used before. Thank you. Kathy

Let's start with the good. The eSalon website is easy to navigate and fun to use. The kit I received came lightning fast, which I found very impressive. My colorist contacted me twice and the process felt refreshingly personal. I went into the coloring process feeling hopeful that I could stretch out salon visits with the help of this product. I read so many rave reviews! Well, there's a reason why I've been faithful to my stylist for years, and clearly I needed a reminder. Reds are hard to get right, and despite following the directions meticulously, my hair looks absolutely awful. It is four different colors and none of them are cute. I'm embarrassed! Overall, it seems like eSalon works for many, but not for me. No "color happiness" here.

The packaging was great, the application couldn't have been easier. I am not a novice at coloring and I thought I gave a pretty good explanation of the color I wanted. I even included a photo. My color is much more golden and less red than I prefer.

I was so excited to try e-salon and loved the in-depth and visual process of choosing a hair color. I felt my choosing my color would be pretty straight forward as I contacted my local salon stylist for specific color information, as I was unable to see her due to covid-19. I chose the same color (level 3)...darkest brown...almost looks black. I was so delighted when I got my box and loved the instructions and ease of preparation. I applied it as directed to my roots mainly as to cover up my growth, which is lighter than my desired color and rest of my hair. After washing and drying my hair, I was so disappointed to see that my roots had not seemed to change color and were still lighter than my desired color. It seemed that possibly this level 3 was too light for me? I’m unsure. I am planning to go to the salon to have it properly covered up.

So the first time I ordered, you chose a lighter color. It's not bad and I realize I had quite a bit of grey to cover. I like red.. Orange warm red. I'll send some pics of what I usually get from my salon. And in order for the red to last it's usually the higher priced dye. Your color shampoo and conditional was outstanding!!

Colour is very strong and good quality, I strictly followed the instructions. My blonde hair came out nice colour however my roots look rather copper ginger tone . My natural hair are dark blonde with bleached highlights. I ordered “medium blonde ash” colour to add a natural look all over, it came up with rather warm tone! Not hugely impressed as was expecting a much cooler tone as ordered “ash”! Not sure what to do, my best guess is to wait until it washes out and then maybe try again. Not sure who to ask for advice! Very unlikely I will order same colour again!

I ordered brown to cover my gray roots. I was very happy with the color I got, it was spot on. I loved the fact that it didn't burn my scalp like I've experienced at salons, my hair felt good after washing, I was happy as can be. A week later my grays were showing again. I followed directions. I left it on for the required time which really ended up being longer for the front sections of my hair since I timed from when the back was done.

I was very pleased with the packaging itself. Loved that it came with gloves, skin protector, dye remover, and shamp/conditioner. I was also pleased with the fact that it came with two colors. Since this was the very first time ever using this product I was afraid that my roots (mostly grey/dark brown) would not match the rest of my hair color (which was a much lighter shade of brown with LOTS of blonde highlights) - I was pleasantly surprised that after applying #1 to roots and #2 to rest of hair the resulting colors matched very well. That is the only reason I gave this two starts. I was very excited to see the "shine" that was promised - but alas it was not to be. Not only was my hair dull BUT the ends are extremely damaged! My ends are so dry that the only thing that can save them now is actually cutting them. I have never had this experience in the salon or even years ago when using boxed products from drug store. In fact every time I have ever had my hair colored - the condition of my hair was better than as if I had not colored at all. Again I can't tell you how disappointed I am in the damage it did to my ends.

I was hesitant to try this, I have never colored my own hair before. Started getting much darker about 6 years ago and started getting highlights etc. This was a good option given that I canto go to the salon. However, the color was not exactly what I hoped for but good first try! I will ask for the color to be adjusted and I will try it again.

The quality of the dye is fantastic and very easy to apply. I provided two photos, one of my current color and the other what my desired color was. I ended up getting the color that was close to what I currently had. So, meanwhile it's nice to no longer have darker looking roots, I had hoped to get a color that I actually wanted. I messaged my colonist for an adjustment for my next order. I'm hoping I get the right color this time!! I also was sent by accident a roots touch up then messaged my colorist and she sent me the all over color pack. My first experience with Esalon has been a bit rocky but I hope it gets better from here!

Followed all of the directions, did roots first & let sit for recommended period of time before doing the ends. I was going for medium ash brown but my roots that were gray, turned out much lighter & warmer than the rest of my hair. On the plus side, my hair feels really smooth & healthy.

The customer service is very good. My color was too light and they put me on with a colorist and she reviewed my issues and sent out another package right away. The color was perfect! I felt it didn't last long enough. By 3 weeks all my roots were showing. The store brand I was using lasted much longer.

I really enjoyed receiving the entire kit, packaging and product seem really nice. I usually color at home so this is more expensive than my regular haircolor I pick up at the drugstore, but since I use one that is hard to find in stores here in Austria, I thought I would give this a try.
The result was darker and redder than I wanted, hopefully the color can be adjusted next time.

I love eSalon! The color is long lasting, covers gray easily and doesn't wear off. My hair has never been damaged and (until now) had any adverse effects. Color changes that I have made have always been spot-on!
The reason that I have only given three stars is because my last color, which was just about a week ago, did not turn out very well. I made changes to my color, but the changes were not dramatic -just added a cinnamon tone to my brown.
I got an ends refresher along with my new color. I followed all of the instructions 100%. I've done this before so the process is familiar. Unfortunately, my ends are much darker than my roots. It is quite noticeable.
And, to make matters worse, I have naturally curly hair and always put some kind of moisturizer on my ends which darkens my hair just little. It looks terrible. I have a lighter cinnamon colored roots and deep mahogany colored ends with no red at all.
I've been hoping that my ends would release a little bit of the color. I don't normally wash my hair everyday but this week, I have been shampooing the ends daily to try to get them to lighten up a little. I'm going to try one more time today but I'm not feeling very hopeful.

The color was perfectly matched to my original color however quite a bit darker than I've had for several years. As I've aged, lighter seems better. Interesting, no one seemed to notice the darker color. I'm still looking for lighter and highlights as discussed with my stylist. We'll see how the next color goes.

I was very impressed with the kit! I love how it all comes neatly prepared with special instructions just for me. The color it's self is the only thing that hiccups me from ordering it again. I'm not a professional by any means but I think my cheap $5 boxes of Dye from a local store does just as well as there's. I've tried letting them know that I'm still not getting my desired color but even their changes didn't come any where close to what I had requested. I will still be a member for some of the extras they offer but I think I'll stick to the cheaper boxes of hair color that I can get locally.

I am a natural blonde with dyed blonde hair and some old highlights, I was quite scared with the ash in the colour chosen it would turn my hair green. Unfortunately, my hair is now orange, :( roots look almost bleached lmao. definitely not the ashy grey colour i expected. ESALSON, in general, seems amazing all the stuff I got for the small price I paid was more than generous. The shampoo and conditioner smelled AMAZING, by far the best smelling conditioner I've got with hair dye. Wondering how long demi-permanent lasts hoping the orange isn't going to be a thing. :)

I used eSalon for a couple of years and found my hair becoming more dry, brittle and less shiny. I tried eSalon color care conditioner and still had dry hair.
I went back to the salon for my color and my hair is so much healthier. It is shiny, has more body, and no longer dry and brittle.

I thought I was getting a medium brown with medium copper tones. I love the brown. They nailed the that. The copper was so vibrant and intense. I am very bold, but WOW! I almost ran to the store to get some brown to tone it down. I am going to shampoo again tomorrow and hope the copper settles down. I am definitely going to change up my color.
The hair color itself was wonderful. I was a little nervous as it seemed thin when I poured the developer and color out of the bottles. But as you mix it become very smooth and easy to work with.
I am definitely going to give it another try to get the copper toned down.
Excellent value for money. Loved the idea of personalised colour mix for me and posted directly to me as well! The colour mix was better than previous shop bought ones I've always used, there was no unpleasant odour and enough to cover whole head.

I have had my hair done and intermittently done my hair for years. While achieving my ideal color has been a little bit of a struggle, the actual formulation of the product is great. Not at all runny, and left my hair with body and shine. If you knew the exact color you wanted I would definitely recommend!

After signing up for esalon I was excited for my new Auburn color. The first set of color made my hair look Kool-Aid red, I called my colorist and explained in great detail along with sending photos of how my hair turned out. The top of my hair was way darker than the ends. It was a mess. She sent me a new color and I gave that a try. She had assured me that she really understood. Well, I ended up with bright orange hair. No where near Auburn. Thank goodness this color washes out fast.
Not only is the color not at all what I wanted twice. The toner stains your hands for days and anything it gets on.
The product itself is extremely strong chemicals and burned and smelled horrible. The shampoo and conditioner sent with the product is such a tiny amount it didn’t even cover all of my hair.
I did cancel my membership and asked for a refund. I just can’t play around with my hair like it’s a wig.
The only reason I’m giving two stars is because they did issue a refund for my color. Not for anything else in the kit but just the color.

OMG! My hair has stripes of every color. From brown to orange to blonde and so many other various shades. I didn't think I did anything wrong, my hair was coated and I was sooo excited, I called my mom and was telling her how good I looked, but then boom 1 week later I look like a tiger in the wild.

Let me start by saying, I went into this fully knowing how difficult blond hair is really hard to get perfect... I have had a few terrifying orange hair moments with at home dye jobs. So I know it’s not easy. With that said, I’ll say, thank god for purple shampoo... My roots come in dark, even though I am blond.. the length of my hair is a very light almost platinum blond. I requested the “lightest blond” color. My hair definitely looks better than it did going from dark dark blond to light blond but my roots are still darker than I would like. They also came out pretty orange. If they had turned more of a dirty or even a lighter blond color I would have been ok. I almost look like a strawberry blond now and you can still see where the roots grew out to. I will continue with purple shampoo and the tint rinse on my roots and hope for the best. On the upside, my whole head isn’t orange... just the roots and the darker parts of my hair

I love the product but I need a much darker color. My color was adjusted to a golden brown however my gray roots look almost green not matching my base color. I do love the shampoo and conditioner that's provided. I just need a much darker color for my roots as now I am still two toned. This will not discourage me from ordering again.

The kit arrived and it was amazing. The color seemed perfect and the instructions very clear. I followed the instructions and had no problem. Nine days later the color at my roots is gone and the red tone I asked to help neutralize is back.

I normally use Garnier Olia 7.40 intense copper, and love the original colour but it fades quite quickly into light ginger. Natural colour is dark blonde. Been dying my own hair since age 14, I'm almost 28 now.
Thought I'd give a "custom" colour blend a go, to see if esalon's "7.40 intense copper" could be intense for longer, and the first pack seemed like a great deal. The pictures for my natural colour / dyed colour / goal colour matched exactly what hair I have and wanted ... yet the colour turned out a hideous dark reddish brown.
Did the colourist misunderstand or something?
Orange dye over already ginger / dark blonde hair is not a difficult thing to achieve! Now I'm hoping it WILL fade so I won't have to strip the colour to dye my normal colour back over!
The dye itself stinks so badly of ammonia it's terrifying. As soon as a little touched my hair out of the bottle it made my eyes sting and water. Consistency is exactly the level between runny and goopy that it splatters everywhere.
So basically I spent about an hour crying and getting dye all over the bathroom and myself for a colour I absolutely hate and will likely have to spend extra money on fixing.
I regret putting this on my head and won't be using esalon again. My store-bought box dyes have never let me down like this.
Edit: all the “colour expert” can do is give me a “slightly lighter” shade of the same dye ... it’s entirely the wrong colour! Do you not understand??
I still have to bleach/strip the darker brown colour myself, after which I’ll be using my usual dye and not this. And my roots haven’t been fully covered, and are especially visible at the back where the dye sat for a shorter period of time but still longer than instructed. This is going to be a huge hassle.
Literally had to dye ginger to be more ginger, and they didn’t manage that. Steer well clear.
Turned my hair an unnatural orange, but partly my fault.

Hello!! As with before the shine in my hair is incredible with good enough grey coverage. I got my friend who is a hair dresser so i have better coverage of my greys than last time! Again the colour wasn't the auburn i thought i had requested it is red. A vibrant red. I am though happy with the overall product i just can't get the auburn/copper that i am looking for. This of course i would say is my fault in my ordering not the product. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks again x

I have been doing my own roots using this color for about 5 months now. I love how the color looks. I love how easy it is to put on. I love that the literary everything I may need is enclosed in a cute package that’s shipped to my house monthly. There’s even stain protectant and stain remover. Seriously!!! Amazeballs!!! I love that when I needed to adjust the color I had a conversation with a stylist who adjusted it 1/2 and then another 1/2 shade until we reached a perfect personalized color. What I hate is the color consistency once it sits for 30 minutes. It becomes waxy, tacky, and so hard to take out that you literally have to massage it for 3-5 minutes to get it out! It takes at least 3 shampoos to do this... and takes out a bunch of my hair! I guess there’s a home remedy where you mix a tablespoon of baking soda into the shampoo and then rinse. But I just found out about it and haven’t given it a go yet... also I’ve been told that they’re changing the product to eliminate the waxiness. We’ll see

I LOVE the color and tried a second round to see if it was just a fluke the first time that the brilliant color I loved...it was gone immediately after I washed. I contacted a specialist for the next one, and was assured it would be more durable/permanent, but alas, I loved my new color again, and said goodbye to it after the first hair wash. It's still a color, and I followed timing and directions to a T...but am looking for a more lasting solution. Thank you!

So dark

I talked with my colorist, we agreed on going lighter to darker SLOWLY. She says dark blonde. I am thinking more light or medium blonde I looked up dark blonde and said ok. I colored my hair and this is the darkest blonde I ever seen. It is brown. My hair feels great but not use to going so dark so fast. I am 60 and was told don't go darker because it pulls your face down and you look older. Idk but all in all great product but drastic change. I need highlights now.

I like that i can choose when i can get my color sent to me. My color was pretty dark this time. I would like for it to be a little lighter

The colors are way to dark and still have a red tone. I like it light and ashier.

Still orangey and brassy sigh.

Thank you for adjusting the color. I like it better and it covers gray better so far. The color on the roots is still a bit orangey and brassy however the color to the rest of the hair (length and ends) I like a lot. It looks like what I hoped a dark ash blonde would look like. Any ideas on what to do to avoid so much brassy orange at the roots? I appreciate your assistance.

nice color, easy to apply, appreciate the fact that I don't have to remember to go to the store to get hair color when it is time to color my hair.
That being said. I don't feel it is any better or worse than good quality drugstore brand hair color.

Now we changed it is good.. Still wanted it a bit lighter but....with your new products I am so happy..the highlight kit is awesome...thank you so much...You made a disabled woman's day...
