Packaging of ProductWhen I opened my box color was on the developer bottle, plastic wrapping of the brush and color bottle. There had to be a small leak or someone had color on the hands when packing. The bottle label was black…so disappointing. Did Not Cover Gray's. Not a single one.This is a formulary issue. I put gray coverage in the survey, I watched ALL the videos, read all instructions, and I'm not new to bowl and brush application. I've used another other mail order brand that covered grays. Color doesn't stayThis hair dye is honestly so beautiful for the first 2 weeks. I feel like I just walked out of a hair salon after using this product. The only thing is that the color doesn't stay. Repeatedly requested a lighter shadeI am very unhappy. 3xs i requested a lighter color. The color was adjusted but i was only instructed to color my roots. My hair NEVER got any lighter. No changeDemi-permanent didn’t change my hair colour. I provided pictures and was very clear about what I wanted and have achieved that colour using a simple gloss or henna before. Something happened to the color this monthI just colored my hair with my recently received color set and something was terribly wrong this time. The color and developer did not mix properly and the color wouldn’t hardly come out of the bottle. It was thick and lots of product settled at the bottom of the bottle in a thick goop. As a result my color was not good, the grays and root color on top are still visible. First time this has ever happened. Be careful which colour you choose!While there is lots to like about the colour set - it is quite straightforward to use, the instructions are clear, and it's helpful to have things like the gloves and stain remover etc, unfortunately the colour is not what I wanted. I opted for 'light brown' and it came out quite dark, with lots of red tones. It is the first time I have used home hair dye, but I have had my hair coloured in an inexpensive salon a couple of times (four years ago), with similarly annoying results! So I think it's as good/bad as the salon experience I had in the past, but a bit frustrating as had mentioned in my initial enquiry/order that I wanted to avoid going too dark/red; I just wanted to cover my greys, not change my hair colour. The 'custom colourist' doesn't seem to have taken this into account. I even bought the 'soft red neutraliser' toning treatment, but it doesn't seem to have worked either. color faded fastI liked the results initially, but then a few days later noticed one spot looked a bit lighter. Less than a week later, I noticed some of the color had already washed away - and I could see grey streaks coming through! I followed instructions to the T. A little disappointedI had a lot of root touch up to do and I finally had a chance to use my first box of esalon colour. The colour is good however, the greys around my face were not covered. It is not terrible but I usually don't have this type of grey showing for four or five weeks. The disappointment is that I just did my hair today and it looks like I need my hair coloured, especially arround my face. I am going to give it one more try. Washed outI followed all steps & products and waited 2 full days to wash hair as usual. Hair color came off onto my hat & pillow and after first week more color washed out, the greys & norm hair show through. I only shampoo every other day & use J&J baby shampoo, no other. I do not use styling products, chemicals or blow dryer. Prep to dye-ive tried clean hair/48hr no wash hair, extra roots/ends product/process. Also purchased & tried tint rinse boost-leaves residue on everything! & pigmented conditioner. Im not sure why this is NOT taking to my hair? Healthy hair border med-fine, shoulder length. Not what I wanted or expectedI was super excited at the thought of having a custom color to help with my roots. I waited for weeks for it to arrive and then finally decided to go for it . I followed the instructions to a t since I’ve experienced bad hair dye damage before. I let it set for 30 minutes and it doesn’t match my hair at all my roots are gold amber even with the purple toner I bought and my other hair is bright blonde like normal. Doesn’t Cover Grays and Faded WuicklyI am so disappointed in this product, after being so excited. First, it did not cover my gray roots sufficiently. Second the color faded right away and is now has a brassy greenish appearance. Third my hair came out somewhat dry. Meanwhile I’m having difficulty canceling! Washes out and does not cover grey also made my hair brassyI’m most unhappy your first box washed out and didn’t colour greys so I had to buy a colour in the meantime you sent me a free one which I couldn’t use straight away as I had just coloured my hair. DisappointedFor some reason the color did not stick as well this time. It was not as rich as the first time and did not last. It seemed to wash out and I do not wash my hair that often. Good at first…The first set sent was great. After that every bottle turned my hair a different colour and I ended up going on holiday looking like Ronald McDonald! (Yes there were tears!) I still have two bottles that I had pre-ordered. I will not be using them and have gone back to my original brand. Good concept, bad coverage!This is my second time trying this hair color set out. I waited a year due to thinking maybe postpartum hormones were a factor but I don't find that to be the case. The first time, it didn't touch my very few grays. I went a darker color so I expected this to work. Aside from the horrific, eye burning smell, it didn't touch my grays. A year later, since my hair girl was put out of biz due to COVID, I decided to try again. This time, the awful smell was still there and my few tiny grays were only magnified by the copper in the color I chose. In my otherwise dark hair, they stand out like a lighthouse! Dries my hair out and color washes outI was excited after my first shipment and color. The color was nice and I felt like it lasted until it grew out, but I don't know if the second shipment was different, but my hair became very very dry after I touched it up and after only a couple of days the color on the roots began washing out and the grays began showing again. I had already added the Tint Rinse onto my next order before I applied the second color and forgot to cancel the third shipment, so now I got the third shipment with the TInt Rinse that I will not be using and is a waste of money. I am very disappointed that this dried my hair so as much as I wanted to use this service it is not for me. Still turned reddishThe color im going for is a cool beige which the ends of my hair are. My roots are still a reddish blonde color. I mentioned this the first time and was given a credit. Then despite sending a picture and expressing this in writing already...twice....was sent the exact same formula (after I get a msg about gray coverage which I never said anything about bc I dont have any gray hair so if there really is a note in my acct like I was told I dont why...not a word about changing it like I asked though) and what do you know....same results. Color didn't turn out ?I tried out eSalon not for grays, but just for fun. I chose Med Brown Ash Pearl for my natural dark brown hair expecting a real change, but it just made my hair a little lighter with a little red tint. Not so noticeable and not the med brown ash pearl color as in the image at all!! Maybe it's not possible for my hair color?? Color does NOT last more than 3 weeks!!!Have trie this product 3 times, applying as directed. Color IS pretty. First time did not completely cover gray but color was adjusted and it then DID completely cover gray. However, after 3 weeks, about an inch of gray again was visible despite fact that I shampoo with color friendly product only about twice weekly. left alot of redI was hoping that using this product vs. a box when im in a rush and cant make an appt for color would be a good bridge. I felt dried out after and it left a lot of red tones. HOLY CRAP WHERE ARE THESE OTHER REVIEWS COMING FROM??I wish I could give this zero stars. I tried this because so many reviews on YT praised this hair color. So I decided to try the blue black. I gave up going to the salon after my hairdresser turned into an ass and would not dye my hair black after begging her to for MONTHS. She would lie to me and tell me that she dyed my hair black, but instead dye it dark brown. So I gave this a try against Madison Reed. Madison Reed had ZERO smell to it and looked BLACK. tbh it made me a little nervous because of how black it was. But! It turned out great! I thought oh good! I'm spending a bit more with esalon, I'm sure it's just as great. It's NOT. I followed this shit to a T and my roots were BLONDE. HOW??? Esalon was nice enough to get me a new box. Fast forward two months. I find my rhythm with Revlon natural blue black which has never failed me. It keeps my hair as black as I want it and hey!! It's $3! I have another box of esalon and I think screw it, I'll dye it with this. They say they fixed it. HAHAHAHA. what a joke. This stuff smells so BAD that I literally had a headache for two days and I thought I was going to pass out in the shower. I had the windows open, my bathroom door and shower curtain open. IT WAS AWFUL. this stuff is awful! For $3 I can use Revlon and it doesn't SMELL AT ALL! oh! It's also been a week and my roots? Just light brown and my natural hair color is dark brown. My hair has pink tints, this is not what I asked for. You guys don't listen.Very frustrated, I received an email with 4 new colors, bold black, warm brown, golden blond with highlights, and copper red. I asked for the golden blonde, I got blonde with red, which has an overcast of pink. I told the colorist, I wasn't happy with the way your red come out in my hair. Easy to use but didn't cover greys at all.If I could give 0 stars, I would. Problem #1 - Original order did not cover greys at all. My colour was changed (to a slightly darker colour) and I was given a credit so I didn't have to pay for the second shipment. All good, right? Problem #2 - Second order was good. Covered the greys. But my third order was changed to a darker colour without me asking for it or being made aware of it before it was shipped. Problem #3 - Although I initially had better grey coverage the dye was fading quickly. I went back onto the website and realized I was getting demi-permanent dye and not permanent (Permanent is better for grey coverage.) So I asked to keep the same colour but switch to permanent dye. Which leads to... Problem #4 - When I mixed the 2 bottles together the smell was so strong - stronger than the demi-permanent and stronger than other box dyes I've used. I had to keep my bathroom door and windows open while using it. This wouldn't have been so bad but when I got into the shower and mixed the dye with warm water it was overpowering. The window and bathroom door were still open but the smell was so strong I felt like I was going to pass out. I had to get out of the shower (dripping with hair dye) to get air. I still felt nauseous half an hour later. I have been dying my hair at home for more than 10 years. I have never experienced anything like this before. Apparently, this is normal. Problem #5 - They could not keep the same color in permanent, but failed to tell me this, so now my roots are nearly black. I'm done! watery product with bubbles strips moistureI have curly hair that needs to stay well hydrated. This color is not a medium blonde!Within 2 weeks my Grey roots were showing through. Very poor! Am not impressed. The medium blonde was an ugly shade and very disappointing. I do not wish to continue with this product program effective immediately. I am very unhappy with my colorist who never followed up with me. Very disappointing!
