Good color, but...My past two e-salon experiences have given me mixed feelings. The color itself was fine. It effectively covered my grays, and it was a nice, warm shade. The problem comes with trying to rinse it out. No matter how careful I was with the application process, I've had this goopy, "nearly impossible to rinse out" residue on my scalp. I had to scrub and scrape with my nails and a comb for nearly 15 minutes, and was still finding remnants of it for several washes afterwards. It's gross, and has never happened in the past when I've colored my hair with other products. Did not lastI was not crazy about the color, since it was darker than I wanted. Nonetheless, as a chemist, I followed the directions exactly, but the gray came through in less than a week. DissatisfiedMy last hair color order I requested a change to a bronze/red color. It was really very burgundy and not what I wanted. Custom Hair ColorI have used many products my self and also had my hair professionally done. This was the first time the product completely dried my hair out. It felt so dry and nasty. Color wasnt quite what I feel I describedI love the idea of this, I was really excited to try it. I think though that either I am bad at describing what I want, or they just were not able to make it in a bottle. I want a vibrant copper red- similar to what my natural hair color was as a child. I even included a picture of my 4 year old son, as he has my hair color (well before I got old and it all faded). The color I received was more blondish, dull and faded in like 6 days. Something has changedI have been very pleased with the color of my custom hair color for over a year. However, the last 3 times that I have colored my hair, it feels awful when I'm washing it out. It feels like wax was dumped on my head and it won't rinse out. My hair feels like rubber. I have to shampoo it twice to soften it. It was perfect. I'm not sure why this is happening. Irritated my scalp but color seems lighterI think the color is different but it depends on the lighting. I did a before and after in same lighting so hard to tell. But the product irritated my scalp after about 15 minutes so I think I am back to the salon for selective highlights and not all over color. I think this works with gray or if you are trying to go darker or redder shades and you are not scalp sensitive. As for the color, I'll decide after a few days. I like the color as it is lighter and the red seems to be toned down. My hair also feels great! not as expectedI am sorry to say this time I was not pleased with the finished result. The previous time the colour had gone darker than the 1st use, however this time the colour was not even coppery it went a med/dark brown. It was so bad I cut my long hair to just above shoulder length to get rid of the darker ends. Since then I have had to add some red tone in the form of a semi- permanent colour as it was so dull. Horrible Color!!Colorist decided to change my chosen color to a "more flattering" color. It was a disaster. My reddish brown hair turned an ASH BLACK on the ends. The roots didn't take it as much. I look ridiculous and I am completely embarrassed. I am going to have to now pay a professional to fix this mess. I've NEVER had this problem with box color from the drugstore. The last shipmentI asked for a lighter formula which is ok, except the instructions stated I needed to leave on my roots for about a half hour and then lather and wash it out. My roots were totally blown out. They are several shades lighter than I expected..It looks weird. My roots now match the end of my hair. I think I would prefer to go back to the previous formula, and maybe a few minutes on my hair. I'm just disappointed. Not for meThe only reason I gave this product 1 star was for the nice packaging. I originally asked for a certain color and left detailed information about how my hair pulls reds & golds and upon review it was changed by a color specialist to something different to better suit me. I followed all instructions and did the application and noticed that within about 7 minutes the color started looking really dark and much different then what it would normally look like when getting it colored with my preferred product. I immediately started to wash it. When it was all washed out it looked all dark auburn. After I dried it it was clearly a dark red. I almost fainted. Now I have to wait a few weeks to have it fixed. It is such a drastic change from what I was before ( medium blonde). It makes me look sick as I am also very fair in complexion. hair feels waxyI thought product was easy to use since I have colored my own hair before. I am very happy with the color result, but I have a waxy buildup thought I rinsed hair well the first time. Let my hair air dry couldn't stand the build up so I tried rinsing again with just water, still seemed just as bad. colors don't matchI had asked for a free replacement and more red to be put in and there was no red at all. This was a free replacement because the last one turned out to be lighter on top and darker on the bottom. Now it's even worse than it was before. The bottom is almost black! The directions were followed exactly. I have an appointment this next Tuesday to see if my hairdresser can fix this mess and it's going to cost me another $60.00. Slimy gummie hairThe past two shipments of hair color have made my hair slimy and gummy. I had no choice but to wash my hair with Dawn dishwashing liquid to get that gross slimy, gummines out of my hair. Clearly you've changed your product as it smelled heavily of ammonia both times. Not happy with colorThe last couple times that I have been billed for the hair color I have not even opened up!!!. They are still sealed... End ResultI enjoy your products very much and your directions are very clear as to what to do. However, this time I have an issue with the outcome of my color. The night I colored my hair, everything was a beautiful color, but my ends on the bottom were still very dark, but I really didn't mind that so much. A couple of days later, I washed my hair again, and with this my hair darkened back up. I did not use a cheap shampoo. Disappointed in the colour resultLoved the packaging and quantity of product. My hair is also in great condition after colouring but unfortunately the colour is nothing like the swatch image when I chose it which was very disappointing. I followed the instructions to the letter but my hair came out very very dark with no hint of violet in it at all. Didn't work for meVery sensitive to dyes, perfumes cosmetics. Thought I would give it a try, did a test spot and broke out in hives. Have had this problem with a lot of different hair dyes. HATE IT - Much, much darker and non-dimensional - can't find how to cancelI hate it. I did the application over the weekend, and I hate it, it's MUCH darker then exected. I even called right after placing the order to speak with a colorist. I specifically shared the conern over a darker shade and she insisted the colors were a good match to my pic. CUSTOMER INSTRUCTIONS AND SUPPORT FAILINGSI just received my first order and wanted to color my hair, but there are no instructions in my shipment at all. I have no idea how long to leave the color on. Then, when I went to call for support, I discovered their customer service is closed on the weekends and there is not even a live chat. disapointingI ordered a new colour to have a change which I sometimes do with shop bought dye and have never had an issue with colour. However, eSalon dye did not give same satisfaction. My roots didnt change colour and the ends weren't even close to the colour requested. The dye left my hair like straw, I had to wash and condition twice with my own products after. After 3 normal washes the dye was still coming out onto my towels. I also ordered a shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo doesn't lather unless you use loads of it and also leaves hair feeling like straw. The conditioner is ok but nothing to shout about. Not what I orderedI have been using eSalon color for a while and have been relatively satisfied. However, my last order was not what I wanted. I asked for the color to be changed from strawberry blonde (always a tad darker than what I consider blonde). I asked for a caramel blonde, but what I got is brown with reddish tones. Matched color way offI am canceling my plan because the custom hair color received was no way near the actual color specified. The end result was way darker than expected and than the existing color I had. I much rather buy over the counter hair color, since the color described on the box is more actual to hair result. I am trying to cancel my plan, but this site does not make it straight forward to cancel subscription. I will be calling customer service tomorrow to see if I can cancel subscription. A little disappointed.On my third week I noticed that my roots were turning gray. It was my understanding that it would last longer than store brands. It was a little better but was disappointed. We're is the dark blond, it's dark redI tried esalon to cut cost. I think it's great but it's not for me. I wanted dark blond with no red. I got dark red. I have to say it disappointed me. I had high hopes but the red is too much so I'm scheduled to get it done professionally. The product also dried my hair out and I haven't had dry hair this bad in the past. The packets of shampoo and conditioner is for short hair. Not enough for longer hair. Sadly disappointedThe packaging of this system is beautiful. Such attention to detail, love how they labeled everything with my name and supply great instructions. Unfortunately, I did not have good results. There were 2 colors in my set, one for the roots and one for the ends with individual instructions on how/when to apply each. First, I now have a very clear "line" across my hair where the two colors were applied. It did not cover my existing highlights very well which is what I ordered the system to do. Second, the color is very flat, very dull. And finally, worst of all, my previously soft hair is now rough and looks and feels like straw. I now have to put finishing oil on it to make it feel smooth and keep it from kinking. I tried conditioning it. The color boosting conditioner I also bought stains your hands and ears, leaves dark "tracks" down your neck where it runs down and stains the grout in the shower. I am so disappointed in my color results and in the condition of my hair after using this system. Not blonde enoughThis color was actually darker than my natural hair color. I have color-treated blonde hair and the roots were starting to grow out. It needed to be a shade or two lighter. Custom Hair ColorI was not at all happy with my hair after dying it. I had NEVER dyed it in my 46 years of life. It dried out my hair really bad and made it feel like a wig texture! I was not impressed with the color either. I had to cut 5 inches off my long hair. I will not even use the 2nd bottle. Not happy!Tried this color and was not pleased. The smell of ammonia is overwhelming and it was almost impossible to get all of the color rinsed out. The shampoo with the kit did not work and it has taken two more shampoos to get it mostly out. I don't feel I got good coverage on my very stubborn gray either. Hair color formula changeI have been using the same color for a while and thought for the summer I would change my color just a bit to a lighter tone; however when I tried the new formula it didn't seem any different and my hair actually looked darker than what I wanted. NopeI didn't like anything about this service. That's not entirely true, in the end, my hair was very shiny and manageable. However, the customer service was not great, they charged my credit card and did not ship my color for almost two weeks. They did e-mail me questions, which was fine, but when you answer a question, you get an automated response to continue your answer. They did not ship my product until I complained. Once I received the product, I was very excited, but that did not last long. The ammonia in this is so strong. It burned my eyes, nose, and throat. It also burned my scalp, much more than any product I have ever used. I purposefully waited till I had not washed my hair for 3-4 days before applying, just to prevent this, however that did not help.
