Flat. Different colorsI did not like the fact that 1. I only received 2 bottles when i made it clear i had long thick hair, so I did not have enough product to evenly distribute and its not like I could run to a beauty supply shop to match the color since its supposedly "custom made". 2. The 2 bottles I received were two different colors. One for roots one for ends. I did not like this since I color my hair from bottom to top since my ends need more saturation. I also just wanted one color. The color itself was too flat. I wanted a shiny chocolate brown and got a flat dark brown black mix. I also specified I was trying to hide the red in my hair and these colors had a lot of red in them to begin with. While washing out the color it made my hair very coated and took me 5 shampooings for it to feel normal. Overall wasnt satisfied and canceled subscription. Color was beautiful but...The color was rich and beautiful but it was simply too dark. I ordered a dark brown but it really came out nearly black. I got asked over and over ‘you dyed it black?!’ I just didn’t feel confident for nearly a month until it began to fade a little. Okay.I followed instructions completely and was super excited about it but it left my hair really greasy, the dye would not wash out for about three days and it turned super greasy and just nothing like what i imagined it would be. After 4 days the color has almost washed out and even though it was semi permanent dye i expected it to last much longer. Hair color not desiredThe hair color I received was nearly black in color. I asked the stylist for a brown color that looked more natural. What I got was a head full of red black color that faded to a dark red. I specifically wrote a note to my stylist, and it was ignored. When I received a color (free of charge) to correct the first mess up, the color was exactly the same and just darkened my hair yet again. Since, I’ve had my hair corrected by a local stylist where I spent over $200 correcting what this company did. I’ll never recommend this company to anyone. The stylist was appalled by the results as well as she fingered through my hair trying to decide how to correct. She reviewed the color numbers that the eSalon stylist chose, informing me that the color was so dark it was almost identified as black. Was hoping for better resultsIt was easy to use and packaged very nicely. However my color was off. I wanted slightly darker Mahoganey brown. I got slightly lighter brown hair that's copper. I'm sad that I'm stuck with this through Christmas. I sent a pic in, I gave a statement, and I chose a dark color through the prompts so I'm not sure how I could have been more clear. Colour doesn’t lady as long as it used to.I’ve been an e-Salon user since the start. I loved that they custom matched my former Paul Mitchell salon color exactly. I live the auto shipping and customer service when I travel. The last 6 months or so I’ve noticed my color fades after 2-3 weeks when it used to last 6-8. I shortened my delivery interval but I have fading too soon in the cycle. Have you changed something in the formula e-salon? If so- go back! Injured myself trying to get the bottle openI've used e-salon a couple of times (this may literally be the second time). I had a vague memory that the color was difficult to open, but it didn't deter me from purchasing again. My experience this time will make me think twice and most likely not purchase again. I get that when shipping chemicals through the mail you're going to want a tight seal. But this was ridiculous. I got a 2 step kit. I had to work the lid on the color for Step 1 for a while, but I eventually got it open. I was twisting the lid so hard that when it did eventually come off color splattered all over me and my bathroom. It was annoying, but no biggie. I wiped it up and got on with it. Step 2 is where things went from annoying to absurd. I could not, for the life of me, get the lid off of the color. I had 15 minutes to get ready for Step 2. I was not able to get the lid off in that time frame. I tried gloves on, gloves off, and using a towel for traction. This was all at about 6 am. Its now 10 am and my left hand is bruised and swollen from trying to get the damn thing open. After my 15 minutes were up I resorted to other measures. I went for the tool box, which I luckily had pulled out for a different reason last night. Pliers had no effect. I eventually grabbed a screwdriver and a hammer and broke the lid apart like I was chiseling a sculpture. Naked. In my bathroom. Panicking because I thought I was going to work with brown streaks all over my head. Now I'm sitting at work with a swollen hand and great hair color. Misleading Subscription ServiceThe color product was good, however they were misleading about signing me up for a subscription service. I am typically very detail-oriented and I rarely miss this type of thing. When they asked for the frequency of my hair color, they seemed to be asking if I wanted semi-, demi-permanent etc. They were not clear or up front about the fact that I was being signed up for a subscription service. Super BumbedI was expecting a more purple brown, which it what the chocolate mauve color is and said in my comments I was hoping for. Came out red brown. Did NOT want red. Could buy this color for cheaper thru Sally's for the results I got. UPDATE: When I originally ordered my color I pick an option closest, I thought to what I wanted but still added a note as it truly wasn't what I was looking for since I wanted a more purple base vs red. I received my first color, wrote a review as hated it since all I ended up with red and someone replied which I appreciated and said would fix it accordingly. I was just sent the exact same color!!! I don't want this at ALL. My review should have been reviewed prior to 'making' my color. Waxy hair dyeI like the color, the price, and the convenience of esalon. However, I had to cancel my subscription because I can’t stand the waxy/sticky/gummy formulation. I have followed the instructions on the package and used a clarifying shampoo but this product is way too difficult to wash out. My hair feels waxy for days and I have to scrape the build up of dye from my scalp. HORRIBLE!After my initial (Demi-permanent, to cover highlights) color was WAY too dark and red, I was given a complimentary permanent color to "fix" it. (I had to write several emails and make a phone call to get the "corrected" color to be free of charge, as per the company's guarantee.) Now, my hair is even darker and redder than it was (nearly black). I now have to make an appointment at a salon to have it fixed, which will be both costly and damaging to my hair. Never again. UPDATE- I am going to have to spend $150-$175 at the salon to get this junk out of my hair, as it is nearly BLACK and my own hair is medium ash brown. Dark BlondeI just used this last order 3 days ago. I went back to my 2nd color request of dark blonde with less brassiness. It was darker than before. Also the last 3 times I have colored my hair I have broken out with an itchy rash. This was the worst it has been. Prior to this time it was just on my hairline and ears. Lesson learned!I burned my hair. It’s my own fault for not reading instructions more carefully but as a friend, I would have put in bold letters DO NOT TREAT STRANDS ALREADY TREATED! Only color your hair growth. I have suffered four months with losing several inches of burned hair. It has hurt my self-confidence. awful bottleThis is the first time I got bonus bottles. But the 1st bottle 1 for the root was so difficult to open . I spend half hour to open it. Put it in the hot water was not working at all. I need to used a small knife to broke the lid. It was awful. The old style of bottle never has this problem. Pleas fix it. I was glad it wasn’t the bottle 2 I cannot open it. STILL TOO DARK, ALMOST BLACK, s/b medium&YOU FAILED TO SEND MY HIGHLIGHTSWHERE IS MY ORDER? My color is far too dark steel and I now have that hideous dividing line between the hair that is now too dark and the new color that is at least a little better on me. I called Dec 8, 2017 asking if I should do yet another color fix to attempt to lighten the die from the first color you sent me the is far too dark. Or, if I should highlight to try to blend it together. Your staff told me to highlight and I ordered the new immediately-moving up the pending shipment and I was told I should receive it my 2-3 days ago. Surprisingly, AT MY OWN COST even though it was your blend from the first lot that was for too dark, and I've been trying to lighten it ever since. look at my photos. Now my hair is almost black which looks horrible on me! ...That was on 12/8/17, over a week ago and I have received no notices indicating that it’s being shipped, when I was told I would hopefully receive it by two ago. When I looked on-line, it say it isn't shipping until my regular time on the 21st! I MOVED THE ORDER UP-I SHOULD HAVE RECIEVED IT ALREADY. I HAD EXPRESSED THAT I WANTED TO FIX MY COLOR BEFORE MY HUSBAND'S BUSINESS CHRISTMAS PARTY. WHY HASN'T IT BEEN SENT? AT THIS POINT, WOULD YOU RUSH IT?! It should NOT be at MY cost. Also, in the last order I received a conditioner and styling lotion that I did not order. At first I thought they must be samples to try. When I just checked your website I see that you charged me $30 for them! I did not order these! PLEASE REFUND ASAP. NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR COLOR. Made hair fall out.Color was good but my hair got really thin.. When I colored my hair globs of hair was in the drain after rinsing. Didn't realize how bad it was until I rinsed it out in the shower vs the sink. Had to be the product, first time I used a non salon product. 1st time userI liked that esalon includes everything needed in the kit. I wish i had known i was going to have two colors for roots and length. bad productI wasn't sure at first that e salon hair color was the problem, but after this last use I am positive. I do not usually write reviews, but felt I needed to this time. I don't usually have dandruff but shortly after using e salon I started getting these little chunks of dry scalp, I could feel it when I ran my fingers across my head. I thought that it could just be due to the change of season but then it got a little worse. I decided not to use esalon anymore and wanted to go back to the Age Beautiful (purchased at Sally's Beauty Supply) I went to Sally's in a surrounding town and they were out of my shade. Later went to another Sally's and found that, that particular stored had closed. During these weeks of trying to go back to my old color, low in behold my scalp had improved greatly. Desperate to get color on my hair, I reluctantly used the e salon (still in unopened box) within one day, my scalp was back to small chunks of skin flaking off. I am convinced that e salon hair color is too strong for my skin and the color does not cover gray, nor is it as rich and deep as my previous color. Didn't appear to be permanent...As a hospice patient, I am unable to wash my hair my on own. It was only washed 4 times since this treatment. It washed right out. Slimy and smellyI really wasn't impressed by any means. I was upset because I paid for hair color and honestly get better results from a Revlon cheap box for 5 bucks. I wanted a black cherry color but instead I got a super reddish brown that looked mousy and faded after 2 washes. Absolutely the worst experience I have had!The conditioner turned to a glue on my scalp and after over 1.5 hours of trying to rinse it put it is stuck as a glue on my scalp. Over 150 hairs in a clump came out due to it!!!!!! I have to go to salon now to see if they can get the crap off my scalp. Silverish BlackHi the product was a bit silverish black and way to dark for me. Its becoming noticeably darker on top when I cover the roots (from gray). I did not notice this the first time using it but now I can. I prefer a dark chocolate brown versus midnight black. I do not care for light brown shades but love dark dark brown. Grey coverage not completeI purchased a light brown ash to redo my light brown natural roots and cover grey. It stripped my hair a little, revealing brassy undertones, which worked against the neutral to ash brown look I was trying to achieve. Beautiful color-- absolutely NO staying powerThis color was the dream-- at first. The shade was perfect, the application was easy, and it came in a timely manner. But after washing my hair only 3 times (with color-care shampoo), the color was mostly washed out. I canceled immediately. Long thick hairI described that I have long thick hair in my initial profile. There was not enough color product to pull color through the ends of my hair to blend for final few minutes of processing. Too darkHello. Although I liked the ease of the package usage and that all materials needed are included in the package, I think the light brown is too dark for my hair. I was actually going to contact and inquire how I change my hair coloring product. I cancelled my account on Nov. 16th.Why did you charge me and send the shipment I cancelled. Not good. Now I am mad. The color has never been correct. I cancelled and received a confirm email on 11/16 that you received my comments. I want my money back....now. This is theft. I will post a negative review in the next 24 hrs if not refunded. Haircolor decent but Highlights awfulI've used the haircolor twice and it was good enough. I wasn't blown away by it. However, the Highlighting kit sent was ridiculous. First, the manner in which I am supposed to highlight is tedious. No cap or any way to keep highlighter from the rest of your hair. Just separate it in this oddly instructed ,hard to grasp way.And I am an intelligent person that can understand very intricate instructions on a many manner of subjects. Then when all was said and done the color was wrong all wrong.I'll just go back to my tried and true L'Oreal highlighter. Or an even better idea. To help avoid the issue of the hair color being hard to rinse out in the future, we recommend that you bring any leftover hair color in your bottle or bowl, fill it with water and mix it together. Then, after tilting your head back, pour this mixture onto any areas you applied color and deeply massage it for 2-3 minutes prior to rinsing. This will seriously help to loosen any residual color and prevent staining on your scalp. Again, we apologize for any dissatisfaction with your color. Excessive shedding since coloringMy hair has been falling out excessively since I’ve colored my hair with eSalon. I don’t dare use the product again for fear of losing all my hair. My hair is soo thin now. Luckily I had really thick hair so it doesn’t look poor. The product colored well. But I can’t ignore the fact that the day after coloring my hair, it started falling out and kept losing more for a month. MIXTURE SEEMED OFFMy last purchase did not seem to take very well. I just colored my hair on 11/22 and it is back to it's brassy, golden color rather than the chocolate brown it should be. The coverage in gray was not as well as previous coloring and I left the color on for 15 minutes longer than I typically do. Dried hair and barely any coverageI followed the instructions to a T, and once I washed it out and conditioned my hair, it was super dry. I got back in to condition it again and thankfully it helped a bit. I learned my coverage wasn't that strong and didn't cover all of my grey like I'm used to. Guaranteed to destroy your hairI cannot begin to describe how painful the chemical burns on my scalp were from this product. I am no rookie to at home or salon hair coloring but this takes the cake for bad hair experiences. I HAD long beautiful hair to the top of the small of my back. I was looking to get close to my natural dark brown and let it grow out as gracefully as I could. My roots are a completely different color than the rest and as I mentioned earlier...my scalp has chemical burns. My hair is destroyed. It was brittle and breaking immediately following using this product. I went to my stylist and begged to have my hair saved. It's now 6 inches shorter. Totally fried ends and damaged the entire way up. Now that my body is healing, I only have damaged hair and a peeling scalp to show for my super discount deal from eSalon. If you like your hair go to a real salon because sometimes the cheaper product is just a cheap product. UPDATE: eSalon emailed an intent to refund my purchase, much appreciated and extraordinarily timely, then replied to my review claiming an allergic reaction. Unfortunately, chemical burns are not the same as an allergic reaction or sensitivity. I'll leave things at that on this particular topic. Nice Color but not for White Hair CoverageMy colorist tried really hard to get a color that would cover my stubborn mostly white hair. Unfortunately, the pigment did not work and the color was brassy and not too attractive in spite of adjustments to attempt to correct the tone.
