Custom but not perfectI do love the amount of color options available and that there are stylists that can make changes. Unfortunately, I have found that I have fading within the first week after dyeing and this dye can dry out my hair more than others. Also, my suggestions to the colorist are not always listened to when changes are made to my color. I have been coloring my hair both in a salon and at home for years and have legitimate insight that I would like taken into account. Color nowhere close to website imageI was really looking forward to this helping even out my hair color and was going for a darker shade of brown than my hair was with some copper. The roots color was supposed to be more medium brown and the ends more of the copper, which the formula showed it was. However, my roots came out lighter with more of the copper tone and my ends came out more ash brown. Hated the colorI gave a photo of my hair including my roots and current color, and clearly explained what I was looking for. The "colorist" gave me a color that was EXACTLY what I was trying to correct in my current color. Now it's a disaster and my hair looks horrible. Extremely Drying Will Never Use AgainI loved the color itself however I will never use the product again. My hair became so very dry and so extremely frizzy within days after using the product! I have naturally curly hair and let it dry naturally, no heat. No matter how I tried to condition it, nothing helped. Customer service was very good, they did send me a conditioner but it did not help at all. Unfortunately I did not cancel the order before the second shipment came. They did not refund me for the second set of color which I did have a chance to cancel but I didn't do it in time,... understandable. So I threw it out. Not Buying Again!My hair was supposed to be much lighter than it was, and now it is darker. I followed the instructions exactly and read them a million times. My hair is now stiff from the middle to the ends and I thought it would work because a lot of people have preferred this site. Not terrible but moving onFor the $10 trial I can’t be too disappointed. I’ve been dying my hair at home for years and usually use another online subscription company. I figured I would give esalon a try for the $10 trial. My first order came damaged, I contacted customer care and was shipped a replacement and received it within a week. This was not a major concern and I was happy with the customer service. I really do like the packaging and instructions. My customized color was a bit too dark for me and was disappointing at first (I’m now getting use to it and quite like it). The major turn off and reason I won’t be continuing with the product is the horrible chemical smell. It’s summer, I have a window air conditioner in my bathroom window and could not ventilate. The really issue came when I rinsed in the shower! I followed the instructions suggesting to fill the dye bottle with water and rinse and scrub through hair for 3 minutes. I had to abort mission, as my eyes and throat began to burn and I started coughing. The chemical smell was over powering. This is something I have not experienced with other boxed dyes. Kit feedbackI am a MadisonReed lover. I switched due to their support of the Black Lives Matter Marxist group! Loved their product be can’t deal with the $$$$$ dollars they gave to this group that is destroying our country along with Antifa. Please let me know if your company gives money to this group. Cost too muchDelivery took too long with my first order and once I did get it. I discovered I was also paying for shipping. The product doesn't last any longer then the store product. I needed to change my auto ship date and in doing so I received to packages with a couple of days of one another. within a week of that delivery I received another. I canceled and I needed to call to see about getting refunded. I was told, they could only refund me for 1 order and to send it back through the mail. I also found out that you need to follow up with a phone call to make sure everything is canceled. Too much of a headache to be bothered with this company. My Hair is Different Colors?!?I was completely satisfied with the first shipment of hair color I received. The second shipment was just a root touch-up, and I was satisfied with that as well. However, I noticed shortly after that my color was fading allover, so I decided to add a second bottle to my last shipment. I'm not sure if the two bottles were different colors or what happened, but I'm not satisfied. I followed the directions, did everything I was supposed to do, and the color is not even. DisappointedI was so excited to receive my kit and the kit itself is AWESOME. filled with everything you could possibly need. Very pleased with the presentation. However, when it comes to the color.. not very thrilled. It's pretty for what it is but not as bright as i was hoping for. The color smelt so strong I felt like passing out. Did not lastI was excited to do my hair at home and avoid the time at the salon. The color looked good, I was happy with the color choice. Unfortunately after the very first wash, the color came out only to reveal the gray. It was more like a temporary color treatment. Totally DissatisfiedI chose an "Auburn" shade called Mahogany, based on the photo which appeared to have lots of ruby red tones. When I received my kit, the colour I received was called Dark Brown (Mahogany) and the little chart showed that it contained mostly dark brown, with some mahogany, and a little bit of copper. I worried that it would be far too dark, and far too brown, with not enough of the red I was hoping for, so I contacted the company via email and expressed those concerns. They assured me it had been custom blended for me, and it should be perfect. I contacted them again to ask how I could review my order to compare the colour I had viewed to the one I received (because I was still skeptical), then contacted them again, to reiterate that it still seemed far too dark brown. I was told again about all of their thousands of colours and how they are custom blended. I went ahead and used the kit, following the directions. My hair is very dark brown. It's shiny. There is not much red. I am very dissatisfied. When I contacted the company to tell them about this experience, they responded with a form email that began, "We're sorry to see you go..." I am dissatisfied with the shoddy customer service, and with the colour result. I have been using drugstore dye on my hair for close to 25 years. I've never had such an inaccurate result ~ and I've never spent this much on it! I decided, since I was stuck at home, I would splurge, and give my self a really nice salon-type of experience, and customize my colour to exactly what I wanted. What a joke. I would describe the colour result I got as "Espresso." It's not a terrible colour, but it is most certainly not the colour I chose, and I knew it the moment I saw the kit. People working in customer service should listen to customers, and do their job. I did that job for years. Sometimes, a company gets something wrong, and you have to fix a mistake. Third time lucky! But unfortunately still not right!Its SUCH a shame. I LOVE receiving these boxes. The quality of the product is very high. My hair always feeling nourished and shiny and like i have had a salon treatment after use. The thing is though the colour. I have tried now three times and its just not right, if i were in the hairdressers it would be easier to have this rectified. I honestly wish it was right as i would be ordering every single month without fail! The first time i ordered it was very very ginger, closer to orange and the strand test (thank god for strand tests!) made me realise before i put it all over my hair. The second colour i ordered was very dark. I am still wondering if this was an error in production as it should NEVER have been as dark as it was, as after colouring it again with the third one i ordered i still have a darker ring around my head from the second attempt. Its such a shame as i love the product, its wonderful, if the colour had been what i wanted then i would be on that standing order without fail, and telling all my friends to do the same. The only thing stopping me is i havent got the colour i really wanted, and i do have a darker ring around my head from the previous colour. can't get the color rightI've been changing the color from a basic light golden brown, but it was too dark, then adding a bit more gold-then adding in some red, but I can't seem to get the color right, and it turns brassy very quickly. Plus, I must be allergic to something in this formula as I end up having a crazy itchy scalp, and my hair is always standing on end from scratching. Color didn't lastI colored my hair on 8/3/2020, today 8/17/20 my roots are visibly noticeable. I believe I did say I was 90% gray with short hair in the survey I stated I needed coverage for atleast 2 months. After I put the color on I was very pleased with the saturation. Product left my hair feeling dry and damagedI really dislike this product. The harsh chemical scent was horrible. It was not the relaxing spa-like experience I envisioned after looking at the commercials. I felt that once my hair was dry it was brittle and very hard to manage. Since using the product I've used several deep conditioners as well as coconut oil and shea butter to put moisture back into my hair. Product never arrivesIt takes 4-5 weeks to receive an order, if it even ever arrives. The service team is literally no help. My last order never arrived at all and service says they can not even track it. I color my hair every 2-3 weeks which is impossible w/ the delivery issues. Just not for me.My hair pulls red. Knowing this I ordered a dark ash blonde thinking it looked on the cooler side of things. It pulled red. I called and explained. They sent a mask and a color specifically design cool for me. I was instructed to wait 3 weeks and recolor. The second batch, again, pulled red. Called again and was told to make a salon appointment for corrective color because, "all of our colors are warm". Did not cover graysLet me start by saying I really like the overall color I received. Instructions were easy to follow, I have a short bob at the moment as I am growing out a pixie so a do it yourself color was not difficult. I have a small amount of grays up front and along my part and the color did not cover the grays at all. I am very disappointed. Color & Tint RinseEsalon Color Team was spot on in getting my color correct but the product made my scalp itch & broke my hair. To be fair, my stylist also had trouble with products. She had to try several before she found one I could tolerate. Now that the quarantine has lifted I’m going back to my stylist for a good cut, hair Conditioner treatment & her artsy way of coloring. She doesn’t just put color on but adds different colors like golds & coppers on individual strands. It comes out beautiful & I would have to buy several different kits to do what she did, if I could do it Evenly. So eSalon if your product didn’t itch or break my hair, I might stay with you But I also like all the “tricks“ my stylist does to add shine & pizazz to my hair. Updated reviewJust received my first kit and tried it out.... I was very hesitant because I hadn’t had my hair colored in years and have never done it myself. I LOVE it!! I hope it stays this way..... so soft and shiny and the color is perfect. Fingers crossed..... update- received second kit and it’s been a total disaster! My hair is beyond brittle and dull and now I lose color every time I shampoo..... even though I am using the same eSalon shampoo and conditioner as before. Long Shipping TimeI will never order from Esalon again. It took over 3 weeks from the time of shipping to receive. Bummed!Didn't really seem like it did much, I just had my mother color it on Saturday and this morning I found grey hairs everywhere popping through. color change?I wasn't sure about the color since it turned purplish as I was applying it this time?! I was worried I was going to have a purple tint! It didn't cover/last as long as the first time I used your product, unfortunately, so I don't know if it's because I requested a slightly lighter color? My sparkles appeared much sooner and this color seemed to fade much quicker. This is only the second time trying your product so I feel like I need to try one more time. First time usingPretty disappointed. After dying my hair, color was basically the same as what it was before but darker which I didn’t want. Sent a photo of the color I wanted In the instructions and the result didn’t have the shade or pop I was looking for. Could've done a better job with products from Sally’s beauty.
