Doesn't cover grayI really wanted to love this. It's doesn't color gray and I think it just washed all out. The top of my head shines red, even though I used blue black. awful reaction...I really wanted to like this hair color option but I had a terrible allergic reaction within 12 hours or so of applying the product. My scalp was itchy/burning plus my eyelids were affected too. Swelling and itchy eyes on top of an irritated scalp that lasted for days. Not A Fan!!I thought custom color at home would be GREAT!! BUT it was NOT!!! The color I received was even darker than my original and I was not amused. They did scramble and try to make things right but when it comes to color it has to be right the first timeI canceled my monthly orders but came to find out it had not canceled and I was sent another custom color that I do not want. 3rd time is not a charmI have tried this product 3 times and 3 times the colorist adjusted my color and it's still not where I wanted it. Not only is the color not right but the product makes my head itch for days afterward. Even after I wash it a few times it still itches a little. Hair texture looks good, hair color missed the markMy hair color ended up quite a bit darker in spite of me requesting stylist input and attaching a few photos. Since the point of this service is to get that special touch that a colorist can provide, I would say that I'm not yet satisfied. I did start with demi-permanent, so I'm hoping we can dial this in, at which point I'll update. Not happy!I would not recommend eSalon to anyone. The hair color has a VERY strong chemical smell (just like a drug store brand) even after shampooing twice! And the 2nd bottle of color that I paid for, was a huge mistake -- a very dark purple (when I requested strawberry blonde)! Get Demi-permanent so you can adjustMy original color is medium to light auburn. Did the whole set up, even sent pictures in natural light to show. When my color came I was so excited and it came in light-brown/red. Thank god I got a Demi-permanent color so it’ll wash out because it is soooo dark. The darkest auburn ever! Not at all what was requested and sentI recently went to a salon and paid $200 +to remove black from my hair. Wanting to even out the color and after all the questions light brown is what was sent. Grey coverage and lastingI was really hoping to get better better quality from this service after reading a lot of positive reviews. I also didn’t write this until after the third time dyeing my hair. I have about 20% grey. Just some at the roots. I also have pretty dark hair. So I needed something that could cover my hair but also look natural on darker hair. I didn’t find that here. The coverage didn’t last, neither did the color. There wasn’t any shine after the second time I washed it. A lot of the reviews say how nice it feels after dyeing your hair, and it does! But as soon as you wash it that feeling fades fast. MUCH darker than sample photos, no grey coverageColor sent to me was called dark blonde. Hair is dark brown (slightly lighter than black items if I lay my hair across to compare). I wanted to go closer to my medium brown natural color, but I was surprised by a “blonde” being so close to black. Would make it almost impossible to select a different color to try when the actual results are so extremely different from color shown online. Caused hair to fall from root; 50% hairlossI gave this product 2 stars because the color has been on point each time and the stylists are very responsive. But coloring it every 5 weeks has caused me to lose half of my hair thickness. Before COVID I had really thick healthy hair, now it’s falling out in large clumps after I dye it and continues to fall out for several weeks following. I am 25, with dark brown hair and have white hair showing around my part, and face. I’m at a loss ... I want to conceal my whites but the significant hair-loss has scared me. Color did not match the paper version formula at all.I keep trying but this time based on the color wheel formulation I thought we had found the one. Nope. Roots at dark brown were lighter than that then I did get fee inches of dark brown blending to a orange color. It was suppose to be copper but the dark brown did not look like it was a natural fade to the ends color. This just isn't working so far. I made sure to include in my email with the colorist that I didn’t want ANY red tones in my hair but unfortunately that’s exactly what happened. My hair looks terrible. Just not for meThe formula is so thick! I've tried two different colors and neither worked for me. My hair was dry with no shine afterwards both times. Never got that "just colored" feeling! I have a friend who had great results, so I don't know. I hate the step of adding water to the bottle and using it in the shower. Not sure that does anything but create a big mess. Doesn't last or cover greysI wanted this to be the solution for my hair needs but it fell short. I adjusted my formula from the first round which was a semi-permanent to achieve a medium brown with a permanent dye to cover my greys. It still didn't REALLY cover my greys, they were still a bit lighter than the other hairs and after a month my hair color seems to have faded completely. I used to get my hair colored every three months and with this formula I would have to do it about once a month. Doesn't seem like I'd actually be saving any money in the long run, plus it's a lot more work to do it and make sure I'm not getting dye all over my bathoom. Most recent color treatment was flawedMost recent color treatment was flawed. I’ve been quite pleased with this product. The color is layered and does not look like most box color sets It does however leave my hair feeling dry. The most recent application was far less viscous than the previous ones and rinsed out after the first shampoo. I was disappointed and exasperated as your coloring is such a tedious process. I feel I received all the damage of the treatment without the color itself and will need to redo the whole process. Not sure what's in that bottle... but it sure wasn't hair color!I've been an ESalon client for about 5 years. I just applied the new color and I'm not sure what was in this bottle, but it sure wasn't hair color! Ironically, this time I even heavily gobbed it on around my hairline and temples where I'm most grey and even doing that, I still have just as much grey as I started. Even worse, you would think that since I gobbed it on, that there would be some staining on my skin, nope. Nothing. All around, my hair is exactly the same color as it was when I started... same shade of brown, same grey. New FormulaI am disappointed in the new creamier formula. First, I didn't know the tip of the applicator bottle was a screw off cap. So I was trying to cut the tip like the old bottles. Next, it's harder to squeeze out of the bottle, it seems too thick. Finally, it smells bad. The older formula had a much nicer smell. Very disappointed. BewareThe presentation of the kit is amazing; the packaging gives a sense of professionalism. Everything is in its place, and the instructions are great, easy to follow. The products are less than professional, and the consultation, well, the stylist did not listen to me. I sent pictures; I stated that I did not want red—in any way, said I was aware that NN colour for grey coverage contained red colour molecules (they are larger and fill in the grey). The stylist recommended a filler colour (I have NEVER used a filler colour in all my years of colouring my hair with professional colour). I now have orange roots (no I did not use the filler on my roots as per instructions) and I have deep orange ends! I also have a colour correct appointment with a salon—all in one morning! This has turned out to a costly endeavour! I sit here writing this with an extreme violet toner on my hair and in tears; waiting for my appointment next week! NEXT WEEK! I was offered a credit! Now, why would I do that? Once bitten, twice shy! I will spend the $300 to correct this, and continue to honour myself by not succumbing to the consumer marketing monster! Not the color I wantedThe kit was nice and well organized , easy to use but not the color I wanted. I chose darkest dark brown but wanted a rich tone. I got a color that’s much lighter then I wanted, it’s so red ! I wanted rich but this is extreme. I hope the 100% guarantee is a real thing cause I’m not happy. I’ve been holding off dying my hair and thought I’d spend extra And get Esalon but I’d probably have been happier with a superstore box dye.
