I had a home colour disaster a couple of years ago and it has taken a while to get sorted. When lockdown started I was due a colour and missed it. Being useless at anything like this i decided to do an all over colour and root refresh on my highlighted hair. The results were slightly darker than I was hoping BUT looked so much better, really natural and my mum commented that it was the best colour she had seen on me for ages! I am hoping to go gradually lighter and reverse my historic disaster but am a convert to home colour with e-salon.

I colored my hair myself for years, but it was always dry and you could tell it was from a box. So I switched to going to a salon every month to get my hair back to a healthy state. And it did look great. But the pricetag of $150 a month was not so great.
With eSalon, the cost is perfect and it looks like my hair was done by a professional!

I am completely blown away. I used to spend $300 for a cut and colour at an Aveda salon every 6 weeks, only to find that the tint would fade after one wash, and the colour was dull. They tried to make adjustments but it never improved and I had to spend almost 3 hours getting it done. Then they closed during the pandemic and my husband found esalon. He convinced me to try it and I can't believe the result! It is by far the most beautiful colour I've ever had and everyone has been asking me where I got it done! I never thought I could apply the colour myself, but it's so easy and you just can't beat the convenience of the subscription based service. Door to door service, and 35 minutes later, I'm good to go for the next 7 weeks. I'm 40 and people still ask me if I'm 35. I'll take it!
Can't recommend this service and product enough. Genius!

For some reason I made the decision to let my greys come in this year. I could no longer face the 3 hour sessions at the salon. I last saw my hair dresser in jan and she put in a ton of highlights but left my roots. Coupled with lockdown I had a good 4 inches of silver which I was cool with until I took a selfie outside and thought who the hell is that 50 year old women! (I am 42 next week). Not sure when I could next see my hairdresser I decided to give e salon a try. I must admit I got concerned when my colourist on seeing the my 50 year old selfie changed my order from median brown to dark blond . I didn’t have much hope for the results, but my greys are gone and the colour blends perfectly. I will definitely use again

My hair situation is so complicated - it's long and my base color is dark brown, although it was much lighter before I had my 3 (now adult) children. I'm in my early 50s and am getting a fair # of grays now. I am in the sun and salt water every day. Try as I do to protect both my skin and hair, it's tricky. I have been going to the same colorist for decades in order to keep the natural, sun-kissed look of my 20s, and he has always warned me that I must never, never try at-home color. When the pandemic made salon visits impossible, I decided to bite the bullet and try eSalon. Based on the detailed profile and picture I sent in, the colorist assigned to my "case" suggested some tweaks to my original request,. As long as I was in for the proverbial penny, I said "sure" & sure enough, my box arrived very soon. After so many years of watching the pro at work on my head, I felt pretty confident going through the steps of coloring my roots, but I did appreciate the clear and simple instructions to safeguard my existing (and very expensive) baliage. (Loved the little sticker to put them up on my mirror so I could see!) The results are ... wow. Absolutely brilliant. I could not be happier with my base color & the way it blends with my ombre. I have so much confidence now, I am going to try touching up my highlights as well once the eSalon highlighting kit is back in stock ... and considering the money and time I just saved (I always found the hours in the salon amidst all the noise and requisite chit-chat a little tedious), I may not go back even when restrictions are lifted. Now all I have to worry about is how to break up with my (former?) colorist ... thinking of using all the $$ I save to send him a generous Venmo along with my thanks and farewells :)

After the initial dye, my hair became the most subtle red vibrant colour and I loved it... Until the two weeks were over and I had my old boring color back. I understand that red takes a long time to stick, but even with all the care I do and precautions I take, I just wished it would have stayed longer.
Amazing kit, the color were great when I had it and the customer service were absolutely incredible.

Color was a beautiful dark brown, warm rich, & shiny. However it was almost on the verge of black and since I am so fair skinned it almost made me look washed out. Otherwise, this whole experience has been amazing. I recommend to everyone!!

I really didn’t like my first color set. The color was much darker than what I requested. I asked for an adjustment to go a few shades lighter. Someone called me and went over my request and the new color is exceptional. It is exactly what I wanted. Great job esalon!

I loved the packaging, how neat to see the bottles with my name on them! I would say the ONLY downside was the smell. It was pretty strong, so make sure to have good ventilation. Other than that the product is awesome. The color came out perfectly!

I really liked everything about the kit. They give you gloves, shampoo, conditioner, brush, etc. Everything you need to get the job done. I only gave 4 stars because it was advertised as covering the gray. It did a decent job on my sides. I ended up with many silvers dispersed at the top where it was very saturated with color. I waited the time recommended. Otherwise, the color was exactly what I wanted and it shipped fairly fast!

Over all I think I like the product. I believe I would like to change the color up a bit to add more shine and vibrancy to my hair. It somewhat seems to add more dryness than some other brands I’ve used.

The flexibility of turning the plan on and off will bring me back again.
The color they sent matched my existing color very well, and it lasted about a week longer than my stylist's color. The instructions were thorough. I've never done my own color before, and with my husband's help, we did a pretty credible job. We are not good at it, and neither of us really enjoyed the process - but that's no reflection on the product!
One suggestion - one extended video that shows all the steps, rather than hunting the separate videos and watching them out of order. (For the absolute beginners.) They were good videos when we pieced them together.
With easing pandemic restrictions, I am back with my stylist - but with new independence. I'm not living at the mercy of her schedule. I know I can do this myself if I have to - and I have an eSalon package tucked away in the bathroom closet, just in case.

I had never dyed my hair by myself. So, during the Covid-19 pandemic, after 3 months of unattended grown roots, I finally had to give in and try to do it myself! So, I ordered various hair colours from different brands, but never got to using them as they didn't look right. Meantime, while searching on Youtube for instructional videos of how to colour one's own hair, I saw a video where the lady in it said that she was using eSalon products and described how they went about creating a colour that would match your hair colour. So, I answered a few simple questions on eSalon and sent them a Selfie asking for a colour for my roots. They very quickly created one and sent it to me. I must say that I was at first quite skeptical as to whether it would indeed match my hair colour. But to my great surprise it did so perfectly! Also, their instructions were super clear and easy to follow - that was just great! It goes without say that I will absolutely use eSalon again and highly recommend them with flying colours!

The color arrived in a cute personalized box quickly.
The directions were easy to follow. I also used YouTube to watch others do it. Two colors (roots and length). The color came out beautiful! It is holding up and covered all the grey.

I am an African American with dreadlocks. I ordered my custom color in April, a month into sheltering in place. Although it was promoted as a do it yourself, I honestly was afraid to try it on my own at home.
Fast forward to #GeorgeFloyd weekend. I canceled my auto plan because I had not used the product yet and wasn't sure I ever would. But I still had a problem; I had not got my hair done since March. So I was desperate.
Fortunately, my stylist started doing hair at home. She reluctantly allowed me to bring my custom color and gave me every caution and hesitation she could think of. Guess what? To her surprise, she turned out loving the outcome. My color turned out nice! She had absolutely no complaints.
My stylist liked (1) the ease of application, (2) the color blend to my hair, and most importantly, (3) no ammonia odors. She loved it! As for me, it covered ALL my stubborn gray, so I like it too! She told me to use this product always going forward, no flip flopping. So, I guess I got to follow her orders. However, I don't like the auto order just yet. If I get on a routine, I may possible sign up again in the future. But for now, I'm taking my time to get comfortable eSalon. My advise is when ordering, tell eSalon EVERYTHING about your hair so they can match you the best!
Thanks Mindy!!! You did that!!! This turned out to be a pleasant online shopping experience afterall.

Usually when I get my hair colored (Paul Mitchell product) my scalp itches soooo much for at least a week. Using eSalon/Madison Reed didn't make my scalp itchy at all.

Color was great but would like additional silvery/grayish tone. Knowing you can work with a colorist and be given the possibility this happening makes the product worthwhile. Lastly, hair has no chemical smell at all. Love the fact the only thing that changed is my hair color!!!!!

This was the perfect shade and did not turn brassy but actually remained cool ash brown over time. It did a fairly good job covering up the greys but I will probably try to keep the dye on for 5-10 additional minutes next time.

Although it had more red tones than I wanted, I actually like it and have been using purple shampoo and conditioner to soften it a bit. It really helped the roots look way better too!

I have found my hard-to-match red haircolor occasionally, but they always take it off the market eventually & then I have to find one all over again. The over the counter ones only last for a few washings & don't cover my gray very well. I was reluctant to do this online, but their product covered my gray, was a perfect match to my natural ginger color, made my hair shinier and lasted through more washings. I am pretty cheap & don't usually pay extra for anything, but I am sold on this. It's only a few bucks more & definitely worth it.

After my purchase Paul my colourist contacted me to request a picture. He was extremely honest and advised due to my natural root colour my roots once the colour had been applied could be warmer.
I was given 3 options and plumped for continuing with the purchase.
I am a key worker and I've been required to attend numerous meetings. I've not felt good for three weeks as my appearance is extremely important to me. I am used to having my hair professional coloured and cut every 6-8 weeks.
I was both excited and dubious about the results when my beautifully packaged colour treatment arrived.
The instructions were straight forward and easy to read before and during the treatment. Everything had been thought of a sticker to pin the instructions to the bathroom mirror, two pairs of gloves, stain remover, stain guard and even a bag to put the used bottles and equipment in.
However nothing eclipsed the results. The roots were not warmer they were fabulous blended beautifully with the rest of my hair.
I am extremely impressed and over the moon with the results. I'm just as happy to acknowledge this will save me on average £80 every 8 weeks.
A message to Paul personally. Sir you are a true artist.

I really liked the personal touches to the kit such as my name on the bottle and the addition of shampoo/ conditioner. There was plenty of product to fully cover head. I only did 4 stars because it didn’t completely cover ever grey hair and it was a little darker than I thought but when doing this yourself it is hard to determine how a color will be with your hair type. I would order again from here.

I’m not normally the type of person to do reviews, but I knew I had to after using my custom color set! I have gone to different salons hoping someone would be able to fix my hair color. (For reference I am a natural medium brown and went blonde a year ago.) I spent so much time and money trying to get my blonde hair (mostly on the mid length and ends of my hair) back to a nice dark color; however, the color never stayed and usually washed right out after the first shampoo. I figured I would try eSalon after a friend recommended it to me, and let me just say...IT IS BEYOND AMAZING!!! My colorist knew exactly what formulas my hair needed and the color is not only beautiful and even throughout, but it actually covered all of my blonde and has stayed through multiple washes! You honestly can’t beat the quality of product or the expertise of eSalon’s stylists. Well done eSalon, well done!

I really enjoyed the product. Application was relatively easy. It covers well, the color was vibrant and clean. Two small negatives, the dye was pretty smelly. I also feel like the directions were a little vague. Neither of these things would prevent me from buying it again however. Overall, you can’t beat the price.

The match is so close--when I dried it, I wondered if it had really worked, or had I done something terribly wrong? It's so identical, it's scary. It just looks better. Made a few mistakes, I'm not great at following directions, but it's very forgiving and I'll do better next time.

The color turned out great. When applied it looked very red, but turned out perfectly. My old color just looked black. The smell was bad, like pure chemicals. Hair still smells like chemicals after washing. I also have sensitive scalp and this burned while on. The place I normally buy my color from has a additive for sensitive scalps and it works great, hopefully they will be open next time I color. I will definitely buy this again, might even try highlights.

This was my second application. The first one didn't last very long, maybe 3 weeks. I left the second application on for longer, about 40-45 minutes and the color was much richer. No more expensive salons hair coloring for me ever again!

Le coffret est très complet : vous avez pensé à tout, c'est très bien.
La couleur rendue sur mes cheveux est intense et a bien couvert mes cheveux blancs.
Maintenant, ce sera dans quelques semaines que je pourrais dire si je suis pleinement satisfaite ou non : en effet les colorations d'autres marques se sont toujours beaucoup délavées sur les cheveux blancs. J'espère avoir un meilleur résultat avec vos produits.

My hair was silky and shiny. This was my first time. I did not use as much as I should have with the brush, tho I kept it in for 30 minutes. I found the how-to video and will follow that for my next treatment.

Very surprised how fast I received this product although when I went to open the box, color must have leaked out of the second color bottle. There was color on the outside of bottle, in the plastic holder that the bottles sat in, the inside of box and instructions. I had to be careful taking everything out of the box. I’m pleasantly surprised how my hair turned out, it did cover my grays and will determine if I purchase again on how fast my grays come back.

Ich habe meine erste Haar-Färbe-Erfahrung in die Hände des eSalons gelegt und ich könnte nicht glücklicher sein. Die Farbe ist sehr natürlich und sieht auf den ersten Blick nicht gefärbt aus, sondern hat viele Dimensionen und Schattierungen, wie natürliches Haar sich eben verhält.
Die Beschreibung, wie das Färbe-Set zu verwenden ist, war detailreich und unmissverständlich. Ich hatte sogar die Möglichkeit mich bei ihnen zu melden, falls die Farbe nicht meinen Vorstellungen entspricht und meine Wünsche neu zu besprechen.
Ich bin wirklich glücklich mit dem Ergebnis und mit dem gesamten Prozess und freue mich schon auf das nächste Mal! Ich kann den eSalon wirklich herzlich weiter empfehlen - er ist persönlich, qualitativ hochwertig und laut meiner Erfahrung genau der Ort zum gut aufgehoben sein.

1st time went a little red but thats my hair. So the next time I told my colorist and it came out so perfect dark golden blonde. I will never go back to the salon. Years being double booked paying $100 I just need to learn high lights.

The ordering process was very personable and quick. I ordered medium brown which came out to be a beautiful color, however, it ended up being a lot darker in my hair than I wanted. I will most likely be getting my hair professionally done from now on.

Very easy to apply.. i love the color but it was a little darker than I wanted but that was my fault. The stylist recommended a. Lighter color but I. Chose a darker one. I am almost three weeks in and the color is still the same as when I first applied it. I have lots of gray and it cover it well.

I thought it was going to be too dark blonde and not enough copper but not only was the color spot on (just like it was for my daughters wedding) but it had great staying power and my hair felt really healthy

Mes racines sont trop foncés par rapport à ce que je voulais et j ai du malgré vos conseils colorer le reste car la couleur était passée mais est ce possible de faire plus clair avec une coloration à la maison
j aimerai cuivré limite rousse
À noter que ma couleur a duré plus longtemps que les grandes surfaces et plus lumineuse même après 1 mois

This was my first time using this product, as well as coloring my roots myself. The instructions were very clear, and I’m happy with the results, other than the color has just a tiny bit too much gold in it. I get my hair highlighted and this did not mess with that effect. While I am pleased with the results, as well as how great my hair feels, I’ve told my hairdresser that her job is safe...unless this shelter-in-place continues another 2 months!

I’ve coloured my hair a few times in the past but usually go to a hairdresser and spend upwards of £100.
With the current lockdown I decided I’d have a change and do it myself ( as well as cutting it myself!). I saw this advertised and thought I’d give it a go. I usually highlight my mousy brown hair but it has been a bit patchy recently and I didn’t like it. I have always wanted to go copper and decided to go for it.
I chose intense copper and did it last week. I really love the colour. It feels so soft and healthy which it hasn’t for a while now. It was really easy to do as well.
It didn’t come out as coppery as I had hoped. I emailed and am now getting a new colour to put on to enhance the copper tone in my hair. I totally get that everyone’s hair is a different level of porosity ( is that a word!) and you never know how it will come out!
I’m so happy that the customer service is such that you detail what you want to change and they get straight back to you and change it. I am sure that I will get the copper colour I want next and I’ll maintain with the tint rinse and colour care shampoo and conditioner. Thank you guys for a perk up during this weird time!

I have naturally strawberry blonde hair at my roots, and am pretty light blonde all over. My typical hair routine as a light blonde is balayage every 2-3 months, with a glaze in between my partial balayage appointments. I was very nervous to try this product as my color match was "light blonde", and as someone who has never died their own hair at home with permanent dye, I was very nervous I would end up looking like Bozo the Clown with Bright Orange hair. I am also not someone who ever gets single process color application so this also made me a little hesitant.
This product was very easy to use. I did not apply it perfectly, I really just focused on my roots at my part and around my crown and slightly under. I was shockingly surprised at how great the results were! My grays/white were completely covered up. My roots lightened as well and did not turn a hideous color orange! Woohoo!
I did as instructed and also used the remainder of the product on my entire head. It reminds me of when I get glosses in between my balayage appointments. It does take that "pop" of blonde out of your hair if you are used to getting glosses and are not always satisfied with the result, but overall I am very very satisfied! I am a hugely tough critic who always feels like my blonde could be brighter, but this was a great experience and I will be using it again! I already recommended to many women in my group of friends including my mom who already ordered a box!
Another positive note, (and something I was very afraid of), was that this box of dye would absolutely ruin my hair quality and fry it off. My hair feels quite the opposite--super healthy and shiny!!!
Because I am wanting to brighten up this gloss, I just ordered the light balayage kit and can't wait for it to be delivered! Will post another (hopefully) positive review!
My husband even commented on how great my hair looked.

the products and instructions were straightforward and easy to use. My hair looked shiny and healthy. My only issue was that I requested information on dealing with my highlights in my first order, but didn't receive any feedback on how to handle them.

I was so nervous about colouring my hair at home as I have always had it coloured in a salon. Obviously due to the current lockdown that isn’t possible. I answered the online questions and uploaded a photo of myself and ordered the set to touch up my roots and cover the grey. The set took longer than expected to arrive but eSalon were in contact to inform me about my order status. Given the current circumstances a delay in delivery was to be expected. My set arrived and contained my personalised hair colour, developer, brush, gloves shampoo, conditioner, skin guard, stain remover and my personalised instructions. I had a couple of queries and so reached out to eSalon - they were helpful and reassuring. I performed a strand test before moving to full application and I couldn’t be happier with the results! A perfect match and my greys totally covered. . My instructions were easy to follow and the application was mess free. I have purchased the plan and I’m now totally converted. Thank you eSalon!

Je suis fille de coiffeur et franchement, j ai trouvé le set de couleur très pro et très bien fait, il ne manque rien.Le seul petit bémol est que quelques cheveux blancs n' ont pas été couverts, le temps de pause est peut-être trop court?

Ich war wirklich sehr unsicher, ob ich eure Flasche mit dem personalisierten Etikett wirklich JETZT auftragen soll. MANN! Was, wenn ich wie immer nach dem friseurbesuch total unglücklich bin? Ich hab’s getan. Zittrig natürlich. Und es war die BESTE ENTSCHEIDUNG ever. Ich hatte noch nie so eine schöne Farbe, die Stylistin hat komplett verstanden, worauf ich hinaus will! Nach nur einem Gespräch!! Die Farbe ist besser als ich es mir vorstellen hätte können! Solltest du zweifeln, glaube mir, Schwester: TU ES !!!!

Das Resultat hat meine Erwartungen um Längen übertroffen! Ich habe vorab ein Foto meiner Traumfarbe verschickt und hatte vorerst bedenken, ob die Coloration meine vielen Strähnen in allen möglichen Blond- Tönen überfärben würde. Die Optik des Kits empfand ich bereits als äußerst ansprechend aber nichts im Vergleich mit dem Resultat! Ich kann mich nicht erinnern je so zufrieden einen Frisörsalon geschweige denn meine Dusche verlassen zu haben! Kompliment!

Première fois que je fais une coloration moi même. Ma fille ma aidé pour l'application mais c'était facile et le résultat superbe.

I have some very resistant grays and it is now 3 weeks post color. The areas of colored gray have faded some but it is still colored. I am generally very happy with this. A little pricey but cheaper than the hair dresser.

Closest to my natural color I had this far and covers the few greys I have well . The color doesn’t fade as quickly as other colors I have used prior .

This is the first time I have ever colored my hair myself. What a good experience! The directions were very clear and easy to follow. I will definitely use eSalon again. The hardest part was finding clips to section and tie up my hair. The color is perfect My only problem is that I see I missed a few places and can still see the gray. Is there a way to fix this now?

This was a revelation for me when we went into lockdown. For 30 years I had been going to my salon for everything, including a weekly wash and blow dry, believing that I could not manage my own hair. I have spent obscene amounts of money on my hair and my colour, which I believed could only be achieved professionally. By chance I stumbled on the eSalon website and thought, what the heck, what do I have to lose? Being somewhat sceptical but looking at my every lengthening grey roots, I ordered my custom colour. I watched every tutorial eSalon had on youtube and read my instructions meticulously. The mixing of the product was easy and application was somewhat less easy, but manageable, I think practice makes perfect. I decided to use the brush and bowl method of application as I think it is more precise. Its not easy to do the back but I think this product is very forgiving. The results were astounding! Every grey hair was covered and the colour, although needed tweaking a little, was beautiful. I have a rich mahogany with red tones. I have messaged my colourist and asked for more red in the shade, so watch this space and we will see how it turns out in 6 weeks. I also invested in GHD's and a great hairdryer and I blow dry my own hair much better than my hairdresser. Who would've thought? This is seriously a top drawer company, with top drawer products. My hair is shiny, bouncy and looks fantastic. I was paying £150 every 6 weeks to have my colour done! Its strange how we adapt when we have to. I can honestly recommend this company and their products. If the colour isn't exactly what you want, I trust them to get it perfect!

I’m wanting to touch up my roots at home due to Covid-19. I’ve had to try a few adjustments in the past but this last one darkest brown and 10V neutralizer has been the best color matching. Also, I do not want a permanent color and prefer Demi-permanent instead.
