Dissapointed in colorI have always done my hair blonde and I think I had that down pretty well. I decided to switch to a copper red color recently and I am learning all over again. The first few times I did it, my roots processed much quicker than the rest of my hair causing bright red roots and much faded for the rest of my hair. So I started processing the lengths of my hair and then adding it to the roots in the last couple minutes to avoid the “hot roots”. This was the perfect solution but I still hadn’t found the perfect color so I decided to try e-salon. When the stylist gave me a call, she gave me instructions to process the roots first and for longest, and then the roots. When I explained my hot roots, she assured me that wouldn’t be the case with the e-salon color and told me I had to do the roots first (and for longer) and then the ends. She also helped me choose a color. I told her I wanted a pretty fall copper red color (warm but not too bright). The color I was sent was fairly dull, not a warm/bright copper color. I did love the packaging and presentation and have wanted to try the color revive (I think that’s the name?) but I am wary after this experience. I have since used another brand with better luck. Left with a thick sticky residue on my hairI have used the eSalon color multiple times now but this last batch was completely different from anything I’ve experienced before. I had trouble rinsing out the dye, had to wash my hair 3 times before I felt my hair was rinsed thoroughly and didn’t feel a build up on my scalp. When I went to brush my hair it felt like there was a sticky residue remaining. The following day I shampooed twice more. It took about 2 weeks before my hair felt normal. The color was also off. My color is the most vibrant red that is available to me but this batch was more brown than red. DisappointedI would love to permanently dye my hair auburn in the future, but i wanted to see if it suited me first by using a semi-permanent colour, and i couldn't find any home dye kits which were the colour i wanted, so i was over the moon when i found eSalon because it does custom colour suited to your specific hair. I found the perfect colour and ordered 'light brown (red copper)' in demi-permanent (as i've said i don't want to commit to permanent yet). I had high hopes for this especially as i filled out details on my hair type etc, but when i died it it looked nothing like the colour shown on the website. I know it says that permanent is best and recommended for vibrant colours, but i would have thought that it at least looked more auburn than it did! My hair came out with a slight tint instead and some bits didn't seem to dye well at all looking blonde still. It has now been about 5 months since i've died my hair and whilst most of the colour has gone, my hair still doesn't look as blonde as it did before i died it, even though i would've expected all the colour to have gone now considering it was demi-permanent - although i understand that may just be wishfull thinking and your hair may not go back to it's natural colour after dyeing it. Colour fades & ends BrittleI have been using esalon hair colour since January, I have to say that all of the colours have been lovely when first applied and last for a couple of washes. I wash my hair with colour care shampoo twice a week but after two weeks the hair colour has almost washed out and my hair is brittle. Couldn't get it outI hate dying my hair. I hate the damage over the counter stuff does and with my really long hair and not willing to pay salon prices. I color my hair maybe once every 5 years or so, but lately noticing a lot of grey starting to come in. I did my research and got very excited about esalon. My box arrived and I didn't delay. Well, I prepped, and followed the directions. Going good. Time to rinse. It wouldn't come out. It took 3 showers, completely running out of hot water each time, to get the gummy/waxy residue out. I used the shampoo/conditioner that came with, then the stuff I bought from esalon, ending finally in my Dove. I like the color, tho not much different from what I had. I just wish my hair didn't feel so gross. Feeling a bit disappointed. Update 10/01/17: My colorist added a bottle of Gaining Strength shampoo to my next order to use to help wash the residue from the dye out, instead of the shampoo that normally comes with. This helped immensely! I still had the gummy/waxy feel from my 2nd attempt with the dye, but 2 washes with the new shampoo and a good conditioner and it was all out. I have to quitI love the color and the application. the results were great. But my doctor has instructed to stop coloring my hair for a while as it is falling out and I have to start treatments to get it back or I won't have any hair to color. Easy to follow instructions, not the result I wantedI was so excited to try this new service, as I have been coloring my hair both at home and at the salon for years. Before dying this time, most red had faded from my hair and I was a light brown. I requested a blonde, red, copper tone - think a believeable Merida (The movie Brave) ginger color, which I have had before both from a salon and from boxed color. I was emailed before shipment saying "We see you've requested to go lighter and wanted to let you know that previously colored hair cannot be lightened since color does not lift color. However, we can adjust the color slightly lighter at your roots without developing hot roots and aim to maintain an even-toned, natural-looking result. So, we've gone ahead and made this change." Which sounded good, so I was okay with it. I followed the instructions to the letter, even as the bottles turned a darker and darker shade - but reddish tones are not always what they seem, so I pressed on. Even rinsing the color early as it started turning more red/purple color than I wanted. Now, I am currently sitting on my couch - with Bright red hair (think Mermaid Ariel). Not only that, but my roots are no where near the same color as my lengths... I'm not pleased, but hoping it will fade and hopefully the expensive color enhancing mask I also ordered in copper will help in time. EDIT: Was sent a new formula after waiting for color to fade (6 weeks). I was thinking that maybe yet again it was something I did, so in case my hair took the color too quickly (in the past at salons it has done) so I did not leave it on for the full time... Yet. Again. The color was so far off from what I requested. Again I asked for a gingery copper color... and I am again left without anywhere near the result. Auburn hair when wanted ash blondeHair was ombré with blonde on the bottom and my natural color on top more than halfway. Natural color is a light brown. Like the color but dries my hair out quite a bitI think it dries my hair out as much as other hair dyes. I think My hair falls out just as much. Don't really think it's that much different. Not even closeI first started with a dark red as a new customer and I loved it but thought it was to dark for my complexion. I prefer bright vibrant reds so I requested that it be lightened to a bright copper red which is the color I have had in the past. I even sent a picture of the store bought brand I used to use. I followed the new application instructions exactly. So here's what I got. The roots are a mousey brown and the rest brown with a touch of reddish blonde in the front. No copper or red anywhere to be seen! I've always colored my hair either copper or vibant red like light auburn with warm undertones. I've been coloring my hair diy and professionally for 35 years when doing a complete color change was told to do the roots only! Store bought colors always turned out beautifully but did not come close to the grey coverage and quality of esalon brand. Unresponsive customer serviceLove the idea of custom color, in fact this is my second purchase from this company. The first time everything went fine, but the color wasn't quite what I wanted. No biggie. I expected to need to have to ask them to tweak the formula to get just the right custom color I pictured in my head. My color consultant emailed back n forth with me. They formulated a new color. Applied easily, initial color was pretty, but the within days it turned a purple-red. I had only washed it twice and followed all directions exactly during application. After emailing my consultant I was told that it turned purple-red because my hair is brown with copper tones and I requested a brown dye with copper tones. They suggested I color it ash brown to avoid turning purple-red. When I sent a msg back asking more questions and stating I really didn't want ash brown hair, they never answered back. It's literally been weeks since they just stopped responding to me. Really disappointed. For the price I can do much better with coverage going to the local beauty supply. Plus is they do get pretty close to your natural color. Not at all what I asked forI adjusted my color and asked for the reddest of reds. My hair is mouse brown. I have had good luck with previous colors but it's always just a hair off (no pun intended). The more I have tried to adjust, the less my desired color is. At this point I would go nearly black just to make it simple, but that's not even an option. I may try some of the other services elsewhere because it's been a constant struggle to get it right. Beyond that, the products are good. They last longer than other boxed colors and my hair always feels great after use. Not a bad productEsalon, is not a bad product, and it takes out the time to go to the store. Where it falls short is that the coverage for me holds up to about the same time as any of the clairol, and ion colors I used in the past. DisappointedThe 1st two orders were great! The color was good, shipping was on time. The instructions were clear except what to do with the additional product. Then I received my 3rd order, did exactly as the 1st two times, but when I went to rinse it out it turned into a very thick waxy feeling substance. I washed and scrubbed twice with no luck getting the goo out of my hair. I was stressed and was on the verge of being late for work. I call Customer Care and explain the situation, she said that doesn't happen often, but it does happen. She instructed me to go buy some clarifying shampoo. When I asked why this happened, she said possibly adding too much or not enough water to hair to work it into a lather before rinsing out completely. I ended up shampooing 6 times before getting the gunk out of my hair! I ultimately decided to give it one more try. This time was nearly identical to the last. Color applicationVery runny would have preferred gel type. You get the Gloss free only with your first order. I can not imagine not using it, because it is not very shiny. So that would make my next order too expensive for my budget. I was so excited... Just like any other hair color in a box that I have used. Started out Gorgeous...My color started out Gorgeous! It was a deep mahogany brown with a rich red cast and a shine that I was very, very pleased with. I waited 3 days after coloring to wash my hair again. That was a bad day. My red began to lessen significantly, the shine faded too. The deep brown still seemed ok. Two days later, repeat, less red, now less brown and the xtra shine was gone. It's a week out from my first color and I do have color holding, no stray greys showing or anything like that. But it certainly didn't compare to the day I colored it. A couple more days, another shampoo. More faded color and shine. I'm pretty much down to having just plain brown hair now. I do already have my second kit as it came sooner than I expected. I will probably wait about 2 weeks and try all over again. If I get a second failure then my first try with eSalon will have cost me more than my regular stylist. If it works then it will have worked out to be the same price to get my hair colored, once by my stylist, twice by myself. Either way it seems I've not come out so far ahead as I thought I was supposed to. NIGHTMAREI do not even know in where to start ,but i regret ordering,My package came in the mail, I was impressed with the presentation as well as the personal touches with name and all ,was so excited to try it had my best friend apply and followed rules to the T. To remove SHOULD OF BEEN MY FIRST sign that something was not right, i had to use dish soap out of desperation to remove product out of my head and thank God for Dawn.That night i went to bed and within 24 hours I was in the Hospital with two shut eyes a head full of sores and a rash from head to shoulders my head felt like it was on fire ,I had an Allergic reaction to the hair dye ,now I am sitting at home with the next 3 days out of work and sent home from Hospital with 4 different medications , this whole process has been a nightmare I am 42 years old i have been dying my hair ever since I was 18 years old and never have i had any bad experience with Salon or at home hair dyes. I regret it with everything that i ever ordered because now my chances of breaking out every time i dye my hair now it's mostly likely to happen again as the Doctor explained. Awful allergic reactionI bought a soft black color and I really like the color. My hair is shiny and bright, I know how can black be bright, but I am use to my color usually coming out dull. I have been coloring my hair for years and this is the first time that I actually love how it looks. The problem I have is that I had a really bad allergic reaction to the chemicals. I'm left with red hairI tried esalon after seeing the many adds online because I had stared getting some unwanted gray hairs. Not a lot of grays, but enough that I wanted some coverage. I wasn't looking to change my hair color, but would have been ok with one or two shades difference. My first order lifted my hair to orange from light brown. Courtney called me and sent a follow up order to try and darken my hair to brown. Instead I got copper and even after a second follow up, I'm still copper at the roots and dark brown on the length. Even using tinted love in the red neutralizer, I'm still left with red hair. I hate this color I seem to be stuck with and don't recognize myself when I look in the mirror. Color not rightThis was my first attempt at esalon and I did love how healthy my hair felt after coloring. I uploaded current pictures and was very detailed in what I had been currently using, as well as the results I had hoped to achieve, which was a more vibrant strawberry copper color. This first attempt left my hair a flat light/medium brown with very little vibrancy. I followed the instructions in the box and timed it exactly as stated for root application and the rest of my hair. I was able to bring some life back into my hair with the Tinted Love product, which I love. The next batch has since been adjusted, I uploaded my unhappy result pictures as well as an additional picture of the result I hope to achieve from an example on the esalon instagram. I ordered the same hair color as last time and this was not it!I'm not sure what happened here but the reason that I absolutely LOVED the first order I received from eSalon was that it had a separate dye application for the roots and the rest of my hair which made it incredibly consistent in color as well as shiny. The best dye job I've had non-professionally and better than many I received in salons. When I re-signed up for this delivery, I assumed that I would receive the same product but no, I got one bottle of dye for both roots and the rest and it did not work the way that I wanted it to. I'm hoping that for my next delivery this issue will be rectified but I don't know how to customize such an order. Hate it!I have had my hair EVERY color under the sun - from the whitest white locks to the darkest of blue black tresses, so I am in NO WAY unimpressed with great color! This - was NOT great color.... It was way, way, WAAAYYY darker than I had anticipated, and I had noted when choosing the color that I wanted it lighter, warmer, with tones of red (I'm naturally a dark auburn... brown in regular lighting, but flaming red when the sun hits it just right)... What I got was a flat, drab, lifeless, dark espresso brown. Hate it. Don't want it. Not gonna use it ever again! If you don't want to invest in a professional doing your color for you, but you don't know which box to get at the Big-Box store nearest you? - I highly suggest a well-known brand like F&ri@ (I don't want to give out their names & thus advertise another product - but you SHOULD be able to figure it out, if not, you probably shouldn't use this brand anyway - you have to be able to read... haha). Can't decide if I picked my exact natural shade or if it didn't do anythingOn the positive side, my head isn't a funky color. I don't see a noticeable difference in my new color vs. what I started with, and it only did a so-so job on my grays. I have not only very thick individual hairs, I also have about 3X as much hair on my head as a normal person. Maybe I needed more product/more time to get better results. Great color but not enough coverageThis is my first time using esalon so I was nervous, especially with so many products in the box. But I read the instructions carefully and timed everything out exactly. I was exited to see the final product, which I was starting to love, except there was one huge problem, I had a bunch of random gray hairs still gray! I am in my mid 30s and was blessed with my first gray hair at 18 years old. So I dye my hair now to cover up the grays that appear in the front of my hair and part. I guess I was hoping for more gray coverage than what I received. I am super bummed. Great experience, faded quicklyI loved the packaging in the box, and it was easy for me to apply myself. I would have liked a bolder red, like a "little mermaid" red. It faded out quicker than the 8 weeks and is now a copper color. It doesn't look bad at all, but I'm still waiting on my hair color to be shipped. Too many graysAfter surviving cancer, my hair changed to a bunch of gray. Not even your product will keep the grays at bay for an ample amount of time. I prefer not to put so many chemicals in or on my body now especially if the gray is going to come right back anyway. After 3 years, I give up on eSalon.I have tried for 3 years to get eSalon to tone down the hair color so that my hair doesn't look red when I dye it. My hair has never been red, or even slightly reddish. Every single order has been followed up with a note to them that the dye turns my hair red. I give up! I don't have this problem at all when I buy Medium Ash Blonde from the drug store. Product ok color NOTExperience was ok but shade was DARK not Medium as requested. Definitely needed the stain remover pad which didn't work well -rubbed hard didn't even remove all as color very dark. I've colored for over 40yrs & never had trouble with removing color before. made hair brittleFirst off I have always dyed very light blonde and actually went darker than usual when i started using esalon. It made my hair very brittle and very susceptible to heat. I have used a straightener in the pass with the protective heat spray as to not damage my hair. I asked for a plum and got even more redI asked for my hair color to be adjusted to a more purple/plum hue instead of a red/burgandy. My first hair color was perfect to my natural color. I couldn't have been happier, if that was what I was looking for! When I received my color the 2nd time and saw the changes from the original, there was more red (by the percentages) I even called esalon to inquire about what the color numbers meant and the percentages. I explained that I wanted a more purple tone than red. The person I spoke with reassured me that red and blue make purple and it would come out like a plum/eggplant color instead of red (altho the color diagram did not reflect that). BAD REACTIONOf course the pretty package comes, directions on top and I was eager to start. I NEVER had a reaction to the color at my high end salon before but as I put the first solution on my roots, my hair started to BURN like FIRE!! I didn't want to waste the $...but my scalp was burning red and after only 6 minutes a root application I had to rinse it out..... not only did the coloring product come out but so did A TON OF MY HAIR! My scalp was still burning 6 hours later lying in bed and today as it sits in a ponytail. MY SCALP STILL BURNS!!! Not the right colour and hasn't covered greyI asked for an ash light grey - what I get was quite a reddish-brown. I quite like the colour, but I wanted it as natural as possible- and my natural colour is not at all red. The grey hasn't taken the colour either - at all. Nice colour but applying two bottles was a faffI applied this colour on my own but not being a hairdresser and having quite long hair I found it difficult to keep roots separate from lengths of hair. When I applied the second bottle I applied it all over the hair to ensure I had covered all the hair from roots to tips so that I didn't get a patchy result as I couldn't see very well the back of my head. It was a bit of a faff for me and I would prefer a one bottle application. The colour was lovely and the results were shiny and covered the little bit of grey that I have. A little on the dry side so a richer conditioner would be better for my hair. Love my colorI love the color and all the additional features that are included. But, please, don't send three gloves inside of the fourth. I wasn't able to just put them on as quickly as usual. Great colorI've really enjoyed the Esalon hair color kit and have told friends about it. The color is very rich and flattering (Deep chestnut with red overtones) and the price cannot be beat. The only thing I would change is the amount sent. I find I'm only using about 1/3 of the bottle on my entire head. Farbe HellbraunHabe heute die Haarfarbe ausprobiert. Zu nächst kam mir die Farbe sehr gelb vor. Dann nach dem Auftragen fast dunkelbraun/schwarz. War verunsichert und habe nach 20 Min bereits ausgespült. Aber das Ergebnis ist super. Nicht zu dunkel. Völig natürlich. Bin begeistert. Würde ich wieder kaufen aber mir ist der Normalpreis zu hoch. Grey line coverage not the bestThe custom color adjustment intends to cover better the grey line, but it still shows grey using this adjusted mix. That part of it, I am not pleased. However, I am pleased with the hair color dye overall result which didn’t make my hair look too dark. Fast alles gutDie Farbe ist anfangs sehr dunkelbraun (hab mittelbraun bestellt), lässt aber nach ein paar Wäschen etwas nach.
