No gloves in boxI was disappointed to find when I went to take everything out to start my process this time that the gloves were missing from my box this time, i actually went back through twice to make sure i did not miss something. To thoroughly remove the color in the future, we recommend that you bring any leftover hair color in your bottle or bowl, fill it with water and mix it together. Then, after tilting your head back, pour this mixture onto any areas you applied color and deeply massage it for 2-3 minutes prior to rinsing. This will seriously help to loosen any residual color and prevent staining on your scalp. If you still have this feeling, we then suggest using a color-care clarifying shampoo to remove any of the remaining residue from your hair, leaving it feeling fresh and squeaky clean. SadI had been waiting and waiting to dye my hair because it never turns out right. Thought this would be a good way to get a good color. WRONG! My natural color is a boring light brown. I had lighter blondish/red tones towards my ends from a yr old dye job. I was really just wanting to get back to my natural color. I ended up super dark with a greenish grey tint. It looks nothing at all like the color description. It is so shockingly dark that it looks like I'm wearing a wig. I HATE MY HAIR-IT'S A DISASTER!Going on vacation and now only have 1 day to fix and don't even begin to know how. THIS COLOR IS WAAAYYY TO DARK, IT CAME OUT ALMOST BLACK, NOT BEAUTIFUL SHADES OF BROWN W/RED TONES AS I SELECTED. If you, or anyone out there can help, please advise ASAP. Like washing playdoh out of my hair.This was a horrible experience. Why do i need a separate bottle for roots and ends? Why do I need to bring the remaining color in the shower with me and add it to my already saturated hair? And WHY did the dye turn my hair into a sticky, gummy terrible mess when it was rinsed?? I was rinsing for 30 minutes! Your shampoo and conditioners were absolutely no help - shampoo did not even lather. I used my own after and also needed to brush and comb chunks of waxy feeling dye out of my hair. Still, it does not feel restored. After reading other reviews, I see that other customers also had this same issue. You should consider researching the color combos of everyone and see if there is a correlation. Wanted my color to be a little lighter...wasn't changed.Color not what I was hoping for. I'm also concerned about the health of my hair since using eSalon hair color. My hair-stylist says I am suddenly getting a lot of split-ends, which I never had much of a problem with until approximately June. I am also experiencing a lot of hair loss. My hair is thin anyway...so it worries me to see so much hair on the countertop and in the sink after each time that I dry and style my hair. My health hasn't changed and I am not on any medications. Did not cover gray at all. The rest of my hair is way too darkI've been coloring my hair at home for over ten years and have tried every brand on the market, drugstore to professional brands. This was the worst coloring I have ever experienced. The color turned my gray hair a horrible green tint yet turned my natural dark brown hair an awful black color. I had to go to salon for color correction which was expensive. I spent a lot of time talking to the color specialists before ordering so it was not due to a wrong color choice. CUSTOM HAIR COLORFirst let me say, the color is very mild smelling. The color went on nicely, didn't drip or run. It gives great coverage, ALL my gray hairs are gone. That's the good. My hair is now too dark. The color I was shown and the color it is not comparable. Color didn't work at allFirst off the color didn't last or cover gray Second I tried contacting the support team for two days no call back . Still Too darkThis was my 1st time trying out this product & even though I followed the directions & video tutorial (forgot how messy coloring hair can be), the color was still too dark. The chemicals for the color was more gentler on my scalp but it still caused some slight itching 2 days later after coloring was done. Plus it still didn't cover some of the stubborn grays on the sides of my face.On the plus side, I like the convenience & privacy of having it done @ home. Just OKI finally applied by custom color last week. This is the first time I am using eSalon custom color and I am slightly disappointed. I did not receive the 'Red' that I was going for, instead it is more of a copper color. Horrible.I ordered light brown and what was sent to me was almost black. My hair is ruined and I'm totally horrified that I need to go to work looking like someone else. It's so dark I'm virtually unrecognizable. Really disappointedThe last time I used esalon I was fairly happy. Unfortunately this time I'm quite disappointed. The color is significantly darker than excpected and had the worst time getting the oil out! I showered and shampooed 4 times and this thick gel substance was stuck to my hair. (Still working on getting the oil in the back out over 24 hours later and multiple washings) I contacted the support center and was told next time to follow the directions- I followed the directions exactly. The other suggestion is to use a clarifying shampoo. I should not have to buy a special product to remove this, especially when it was never mentioned before hand. Who wants to go out in public with there hair matted down in oil to buy shampoo??! I had a similar experience last time but nowhere near as bad and the color turned out okay-not perfect, but his time it's a medium brown not a dark ash blonde, so not easily able to be fixed unless I pay to go to a salon to have it lightened. The shade ended up better than last time on the top, but the bottom is greenish. Extrememly disappointed is time around. Current Hair Color received end of AugI was very happy with my initial purchase in June. I liked the color, the fumes did not irritate my eyes and my hair felt healthy. I used the color I received the end of Aug on Thursday, 9/14. Awesome grey coverage but it feels like glueGuys! If your goal is grey coverage, esalon works like a charm. If you want ease of coloring at home on your own, consider a different product. The time and effort it takes to wash this product out of your hair is not worth it. It feels like your entire mane is matted down with a thick coating of elmers glue. It took me several washes to feel comfortable going out of my house as It leaves such a weird coating on your hair. I color my hair, often. I wanted to give esalon a try and maybe try a different brand of color. My other issue. I chose my natural color of light ash brown. My hair pulled brassy orange at the roots. That never happens to me with ash which left me all sorts of confused. However, I was able to tone it with lavender/grey toner and it ended up being a splendid color. Really rich and beautiful. Grey coverage gives it the three stars. It's really great for greys. I wish I liked it better. I just can't get full coverageFor some reason some of my grays seem resistant to the color. After just a few days, right on my hairline, I can see gray strands of hair. I'm following the directions and timelines and I am disappointed. I may cancel my subscription because I hate taking the time and effort if it's not going to work completely. Need to apply it twice to make it sticks but nice results at the endI applied the product with the brush on my roots only, just as the description told me to do. But a lot of product was left in the bottle. After waiting 15 min as indicated, I washed my hair, let it dry, but the color did not really work. So I applied the rest of the product remaining in the bottle and let it sit for 20 min this time. The color of my roots was still lighter than the rest of my hair but I think is was because I did not order the right color. I ordered a 6 instead of a 4. Just buy a box dyeThere is zero dimension to this color. It's all the same all over, so it looks way more unnatural. It also felt really gross in my hair and took forever to wash out. The coverage was great, it totally hid my purple streaks. However, I put in my notes that I wanted my color to have a purple tint, which it obviously does not have. You can't REALLY customize your color here, just pick one from the extremely short list of shades. Overall it looks fine, just boring and devoid of dimension. Ok But Not GreatThe product was fine; however, I was disappointed that it did not match my hair very well, especially since I answered all the questions asked and sent picture of how my hair look. Highlights Devoured my ColorI recently ordered the lights lab to add highlights to my hair. I was a little cautious, so I watched your youtube video a couple times, watched a few other videos and finally felt comfortable to try it out. My hair color was a medium brown with a hint of red to begin with. I carefully added the highlights to my hair according to the video and waited the proper amount of time until it was to be finished. rinsed, shampooed and used the toner. Took the towel off to take a look-see and O.M.G!!! Except for my roots, and a few locks here and there, My whole head was a strawberry blonde!! Ummm? What just happened? I know I didn't paint the lightener all over everywhere!!! But it sure grabbed onto all my hair and took it over... Don't know what to really do now? Loved the colour but what a mess!I tried eSalon hair colour and loved the colour that was selected for me, but I have never used a hair colourant that was so messy to use! The solution was far too liquid, and it was not as easy to apply as I thought, with hindsight it should have been a two person job. When it came to rinsing the solution off until it ran clear 15 minutes later I was still rinsing and the colour had splattered everywhere in the bathroom! When I came to dry my hair it felt wet in parts and I realised there was still some of the colourant on my hair so I had to wash it again. I was really disappointed with the process and I don't want to go through that again, nor do I want to have to completely clean my bathroom every time I colour my hair. Loved the color; hated the conditioner!I ordered eSalon for the first time in 2015 and just got around to using it. While I loved the custom color results, I absolutely HATED the conditioner. It made my hair feel heavy and extremely oily, instead of its usual silkiness. Even after several rinsings, the product stayed in my hair, creating an unpleasant sticky feeling that also caused residual color to cling to my hands during brushing. Not what I wantedAfter my first color I received an email asking me if the color was correct or did I like and I said no it was not red enough. Wanted more red than brown. I was provided with some type of gloss, still not what I wanted. When the next order came out I was not even asked if I wanted to change it or how I liked it and it was just sent. DisappointedSo disappointed I asked for dark brown and my hair is now black!! I have three colours in my hair now because you coloured my hair black. I have black roots now dark brown in the middle section and light brown at my ends! So disappointed I told all my family and friends about this and I feel really let down. AwfulI have cancelled as the dye was terrible . Hard to apply and a residue has been left on my hair. I usually wash my hair twice a week have to now do it everyday. Meh...Didn't cover the grays as thoroughly as I thought it would. The grays aren't gray anymore, but you can definitely see where the last color ends and the newly colored grays begin. Also wish there was a way to separate out one order into multiple root-applications. I used probably 1/8th of the bottle because I only need it for my temples and a teeny bit at my part (and yes, I used PLENTY where I needed it so that is not the reason why it didn't cover). Was awesome at first, gotten terribleWhen I first signed up for esalon, I loved the color and everything about the product. The last few shipments though have been terrible. When applied to my hair it immediately became gummy and thick, and was impossible to get out of my hair. In addition, for a day or two, my hair was sticky and oily in appearance no matter how long I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. I give up. Worst product ever used! Very unhappy customer.This product is the worst product I've ever used. EVER! My roots ended up very very dark brown and the colour did not seem take much on the rest of my hair. It also left my hair tangled matted mess. I ended up with dark brown roots with the rest of my hair being a light brown/orange mess. You will not be saving any money and it will just leave you angry, frustrated (not to mention in tears!) and stressed trying to get your hair to look half decent again. Cost of using E-salon: Their product £20; two lots of hair colour remover £20 and new box of Vidal Sassoon (far superior product in my opinion!) £10. Not trustable company, a scamI have tried to leave a review several times each time it would erase itself. In June I slpurged and ordered the hair dye. And within a week the grays on the mid line of my head and sides of my face returned. I e-mailed a complaint because it's supposed to be a 100 % guarantee. And asked them to rectify the situation. If not i no longer wanted their product I gave them a month to do it. I never heard from them til i was looking at my bank account and it was showing a -127$. It was do to them taking money out for an order I didn't want. I begged them to fix the situation even give me the amount for the hair dye so i had some money to buy my grandchild who lives with me and I support us on SSI. They would not do nothing. $127 for a hair dye ridiculous. Then I figured I might as well yous the hair dye. Chunks of my hair fell out in the shower I have a balled spot now. I strongly suggest no one uses their product. And please watch your bank accounts with this scamming company. Do you know how sad I was not to be able to buy my 3 year old grandchild a b-day present due to this company without a conscious. If my hair does not grow back they will be sued. Good grey coverageAs far as covering the grey hair goes, this is an excellent product. For that alone, I'd give it five stars... The downside is that apparently the pigment used in the product makes my hair waxy afterwards. I have washed it with their special shampoo, scrubbed my head for five minutes at a time and it usually takes 3 days of this for my hair to regain a normal texture. I'm using a lot of shampoo and spending a lot of time in the shower trying to remedy this issue. In the end, it looks like I haven't washed my hair for a week... And it feels gross. Which is okay if I do it on a Friday and stay home all weekend and put my hair in a poney tail until Tuesday... Not the same color as I was sent last monthI followed the instructions carefully. This was a new growth touch up and I wanted to make sure I did everything correctly. It turned out awful! My roots are a different color than the rest of my hair! I used the rest of the color to put in the length as directed. I know that I did exactly as instructed. I just got a different color this month. My are very dark while the other hair has some red to it. It looks terrible and I am cancelling my membership. Made my hair oily but also dryI was super pumped when my order was delivered very fast. Once I mixed the color together it was the perfect color I wanted so I was even more happy only until it came to rinsing the color out. I used the pre packaged shampoo and conditioner but my hair still felt like there was massive color in it. I ended up using my personal shampoo and conditioner and thankfully that washed the excess color out. The problem wasn't over because my hair has the weirdest texture now. Some places my hair feels slimy but other parts I'm afraid to touch because it is so dry. Turned my hair OrangeI will not be ordering again. After applying for the second time with a supposedly corrected formula (the first was too yellow and didn't cover grey very well), my hair turned orange on top, yellow on the rest, and I still had grey. I had to see my beautician to have the color corrected. She was not able to completely get the color out, so I have to wait to grow it out. I didn't even want to try the highlights I ordered for fear of huge streaks of white in my orange hair. Sixty-five dollars of product down the drain. When I saw the beautician, she said that the reason my hair turned orange was because of my hair type and texture. Even the medications I am on can change the chemicals in my hair. There is a reason why beauticians go to school, they learn how to treat each kind of hair and know how to ask the right questions. I will never try to save money (ha-ha) and try to do it myself again. Having the color with simple directions is not a substitution for professional application. I am very disappointed. I gave the brand new color and highlights I had just received to my beautician. I didn't want to be tempted to use it again. Good color, i loved the copper huesIt blended well with my hair, was not too dark or light. I only left it on for 15 minutes each section of three. My blonde stuck through. Hated itThis was my second box and i absolutely hated it. very unhappy. Going to salon to fix tomorrow.The blond did not mesh with the existing color. Instead, it turned somewhat orange. A brassy strange color. Nice hair product; horrible plastic packagingToday I received my hair color, plus my order of shampoo, conditioner, and spray root cover-up. The hair color products were packaged in the usual box with the hard plastic 'tray' holding the hair color bottles and other product for coloring the hair. The shampoo and conditioner, which are in very heavy plastic bottles with a plastic cap AND a plastic pump (the many times does NOT work). Next, a thick, plastic shrink wrap covers the pump and half-way down the bottle (is this necessary with a 'locking' pump??) This plastic bottle was THEN placed in a thick, printed plastic bag, sealed with a plastic sticker, and placed in the box with the plastic tray. The conditioner was in the same bag. The small bottle of root cover up spray (aerosol...) was wrapped in a styrofoam sleeve (!) and THEN placed into another thick plastic bag (same type of bag as described above). This bag then placed in the big box with plastic tray. eSalon: our planet is imploding from global warming and climate change. Whether you believe in it or not, we humans are destroying the planet, and one way is by the use of non-recyclable, non-biodegradeable plastics. What am I to do with this packaging? the bags are not of a size to re-use (for what?). I can't bring myself to throw them away. I do recycle the color box (cardboard) but the tray? Your products look very chic and cool, but they are Earth friendly. I don't know if I can continue buying your products if I can't recycle the packaging. As it is, I ONLY buy packaging for all my other home products and everything I can that is recyclable. There are product packaging designers who specialize in using 100% recyclable materials, or better yet, MINIMAL packaging practices, to help companies HELP OUR PLANET. Time to focus on changing your packaging? PS I am a marketing professional. You would sell A LOT more product if you could promote the Earth-friendliness of the packaging. Purplish?I had my hair bleached about 6 months ago and now had about 4 inches of brown roots. I wanted to cover it all over with a medium copper. Well, the blond is super purpley (my daughter said it was almost hot pink in the sunlight 😢).
