Doesn't cover graysI like the convenience and thoroughness of the order process, but the dye is just not good enough to handle gray hairs. Good Color, but . . . .The color was good, but that's all. Didn't cover gray very well. When I used the shampoo, my hair felt stiff. Used conditioner, and it just made my hair extremely oily-feeling. OrderIt did not cover gray for very long. I had to color before my next order came. I went on line last week to cancel the March order, but seen this email that it is already on its way. Not worth the $$Initially the color looked good, but within a week it had a cheap coppery faded gold tint that has only gotten worse over time. The color isn't nearly as natural looking as the one I've been buying at the local drugstore for a lot less money. The only thing that was worth getting was the apron/bib and the hair clips. Tried to love itI wanted to love eSalon and gave it 3 tries. Customer service was amazing. Every time I called, someone was so helpful. Unfortunately the color just never came out right. I tried 3 different times. I really wanted to love it. I really did!! Last time I had a bottle for my roots and another for the rest of my hair. Now my roots are a bright red and a different color than the rest of my hair. And gray hair appeared after almost 2 weeks. Customer service is not helpful at allI received an email today March 12th that states that my order is in process and will be shipped in 1 to 3 days. It asks if I do not want this current order I should call them. It took about 10 minutes searching the site to find the phone number to call. They told me they had sent several previous emails and that my order has already been shipped. There is nothing they can do to stop the current order. The emails do not agree with the representative. The web site was difficult to navigate and it also had information that my order would be shipped in 1 to 3 business days on it, something the representative denies. I told them to cancel my account with this company. I do not do business with companies who say one thing on the phone and have emails and web sites that a different thing. In my opinion this is one aspect of fraud. When I called today I was only looking for a delay in the shipment of this order. Tried eSalon hair color for first time.The color did not cover all grey and white new growth. I left as long as instructed. Should it remain on longer? Also there was not enough conditioner. Not at all What I wanted :(I am so very disapointed. I wanted my hair a tad bit lighter and more reddish that is why I chose Ash Copper. IMy hair is normally a med brown with slight red undertone.. what I got was basically my normal hair color and a lot of waxy mess! I followed the directions to a tee.. every detail.. but I was left with a sticky mess of waxy knotted hair... I literally had to wash my hair 10 times to even get most this waxy stuff off my hair! Tried and decided it’s not for meI have ordered this product 3 times. The first time was fine, the colour I wanted but my grey was through within 2 weeks. I coloured a second time to find the colour was no where near as enhanced as the previous time, the grey was through fast again and a lot of hair went down the plug hole. I have tried for the third and final time as I have cancelled my order, but this time so much hair came out that I rinsed it off as fast as possible. Issue with the rootsMy roots did not change at all and the part of my hair that was previously colored only changed very very slightly. The shampoo and conditioner made my hair feel really soft. I've honestly had better/healthier results with boxed dyesI regretfully give this review as I was very excited and hopeful to try esalon. The deliverance of the supplies and packaging/display was great. The colorist accepting my color requests and modifying accordingly was good. Unfortunately, the product itself is not. The first time I colored my hair it was extremely brassy/ unflatteringly-coppery at the roots and pretty dull in the length; 2nd color led to a lot of hair breakage (I've had to cut 3" off) and in 2 weeks is already faded and exposing the grays. Didn't cover gray hair.I'm quite disappointed in my personal hair color. I left a note for the colorist that stated all my roots are gray and the color I received did not cover the stubborn gray hairs. The accessories were awesome. The stain guard saved my forehead. Color turned out darker than expectedI expected the color to look a little bit closer to the image online since I specified my hair and it literally just looks like my natural dark hair color with more "natural" copper highlights. Too messy!The hair color matched my color really well, but having to bring this into the shower to 'finish up' after it processed for 30 minutes to begin with, left a big mess in my shower after I used the rest of the product. It took a while to get my tub walls cleaned and I had to get a new shower curtain liner.....I'll stay with my cheap products that's less messy or continue going to a salon. Not the great results I expected!I specifically requested a "very" ashy light brown color. I used the hair color today and it's like it didn't even alter the color of my hair at all. Still way to much brassiness and it did not cover the gray at my temples at all. I followed the directions exactly with absolutely no result. Kind of feels like a waste of time and money. Decline in serviceI previously used esalon years ago and and it worked great. I came back to use the service this year and it's horrible service and products . They can't change the colorist. They can not guarantee the hair color, they are not professionals. I have never heard so many excuses before. When this company advertise they have professional colorist but can't get my hair color correct and cover my limited grays. Box hair color works better than this. Yucky gunk in hairThe dye left thick, sticky gunk in my hair (particularly the root areas). It took a long time to wash out. I even went and got Dawn dishsoap in case I couldn't get it out with other stuff. I tried the shampoo provided by eSalon and it started to get it out. I had to ration the shampoo and use it 3 times before the gunk was gone. It left my hair squeaky and coated until I washed it again. The color was great but I can get the same color (just doesn't last as long) with store bought and not the hassle of spending 20-30 minutes trying to get the crap out of my hair. Yuck!I really wanted to like this product-I love the idea of having a higher quality box dye and the ease of getting it shipped automatically. I used it for 2 months and sadly, I will not use it again. The first time I used it, it left a horrible disgusting gummy gunk on my hair and my scalp. I literally had to scrape with my nails on my scalp to get rid of it. Then, I couldn't get it all out of my hair. I contacted CS and they suggested I mix baking soda with my shampoo...ugh, no thanks-really don't want more work to do. They also sent me a bottle of dry shampoo. By the time it arrived, I had washed my hair enough times that I finally got the gunk out (about 4 washes). I decided to stick with it for another month. Just tried again on Saturday and very similar results. I tried to use the dry shampoo this morning (Monday) and it really didn't work (I prefer water and regular shampoo). On top of the gross gunk, I'm not all that impressed by the color and coverage. I see very very little (if any) difference from my old box-dye which is much cheaper. Root color turned out pinkI have very resistant gray roots. The color I received for the roots was too light and turned my roots light orange/pink. Still not the right the colorI love the product for it's ease of use and how healthy my hair has become. However, after almost 5 months I still don't have the ash brown hair I have requested. Horrible clumpy sticky tangled messI followed directions precisely. Called customer care and they said the new gel formula has had this issue. To try baking soda with some shampoo. Did. Repeated and rubbed thru. No help. Called 2nd time. Try dawn with shampoo. No help. 3rd call. Try clarifying shampoo with baking soda. Beyond frustrated. I hope my hair Isn't ruined. I wish I could attach pic to show what my before silky hair looked like to this dried out... dread lock.... sticky mess looks like. Not to mention feels like. Custom hair colorI was excited to try the product and thought the instructions and the extras like skin protection and wipes etc were a great idea. Unfortunately the overpowering chemical smell of the product means I won't be using it again. It was so bad when I was washing it off that I had to keep stopping to get a breath of fresh air! Not consistentI'm not sure why my hair came out different since I did not change the formula, but my hair color is not the same as the last order. In the sunlight it looks bright orange and in my home lighting it looks a light brownish color. It is supposed to be a copper red color. Not all thatI'll admit the packaging looks phenomenal but after putting the product on the hair I was super excited. Then when it came time to wash it out there was clumps of nastiness in my hair that the little thing of shampoo they provide still won't get out even after using a comb and very hot water to remove them the first time. I then reached for my last resort wich was baby shampoo hoping it wouldn't ruin the color but in all honesty I wanted the clumpy stuff out of my hair. That got out the clumps thank god and I'm not sure if that made the red in my hair color not work or if it was the product itself but my hair is just brown now not the red brown I had chosen. Then afterward I look at my bathtub and there is this nasty red brown foam looking stuff that doesn't quite wash away with water, ew. Definitely NOT brighterI asked for an adjusted color to bring out the copper and red and now my hair looks brown. I paid $200 last summer to get the bright copper red done and bc I couldn’t afford to keep paying that, I started using eSalon. The first box was ok but definitely didn’t see much difference to make the brightness stay, so this one was supposed to be adjusted to make it bright and vibrant again. Total opposite. Left residueI noticed after I colored my hair it felt like it had a weird texture. Almost like it had heavy product left in it. It felt like that even after 3 washes. Not real happyThis did cover my gray which is hard to do, so thumbs up for that. But even though I got an Ash base with my dark blond and I wrote that my hair picks up brassy tones very easily and the color only had a sliver of gold....my hair turned out Alburn which will be brassy in a couple of shampooing..... so I will fix this by going to Sally's and getting a bleach to strip it out cuz that is the only way I can get the red out. Not worth the money you'll have to spend to fix itI previously left a great review of this product. Unfortunately, after the first time, I adjusted my hair color to be slightly darker and was VERY disappointed with the formula and the color. Patchy, inconsistent color that faded quickly, left my hair feeling damaged, and looked very "color from the box." I gave it another shot after that, thinking it was my own error. Despite having colored my hair myself many times before, the color turned out even worse than the second time--patchy and brassy. I had to spend $200 to fix it. On top of that, I tried to cancel my account after my last use, and sure enough, three months later, I get an email from the company that another shipment was sent. Terrible qualityI’ve been using this product for 2 years or so. Over the past year I have seen the quality totally deteriorate monthly. The past several orders that I have received have done absolutely nothing for my grey roots (the whole reason for my order,) and this last month was like a complete placebo, I wish I could show you all a picture of my post application hair because it’s clear that this product doesn’t work. My grey hairs at very few and not that complicated, so I am pretty displeased with the fact that this product can’t color them. Not the bestI reached out and asked for my custom color to be a little more rich, darker in color because it was fading uneven, so they added an additional bottle of color for the ends of my hair that would even out the color. If hair jaundice was a thing, that would be an appropriate name for this colorI was really excited to try this product as it seemed as though an exciting challenge to the standard box color. Cute packaging and custom labels can't cover the fact that the color itself was terrible and forced me quickly out the door to get something to cover the atrocity it brought. I was looking for a dark blonde color and was dismayed to find an awful yellow color that made me look like a sickly leprechaun. 3rd time is not the charmI've really enjoyed getting my hair color in the mail, but it seems they just can't get the color right. I've given them 3 tries, and every time I left a note with the colorist that my hair keeps turning out red. I want dark blonde with no hint of red. But, somehow my comments aren't being heard. Didn’t work on my hairThe color took only on parts of my hair, leaving me with patches of blonde and red—it was very uneven and I had to pay a lot and spend six hours having it fixed. I don’t think the instructions were specific or customized enough, especially for long hair. Straw like hairI really liked how my color turned out, it was the perfect shade of brown. However after each time I color my hair with esalon it leaves it feeling like straw and really dry. Mixed feelingsMy hair color (medium brown pearl mahogany)...violet range...looks NOTHING like the color described or pictured. I see no purple what so ever. I see mostly a copper color. Not the color I wantedMy hair was brown with blonde highlights. I was looking for a medium to dark blonde look. My hair color is now ash brown. I am not a fan of red/ash on me. Not what I was looking for. I hate the thought of having to go back to my salon to have them correct the color. Update: I am still waiting to hear back from the color expert. The only response I have gotten was from this review. First time coloring 😮My first time to ever color my hair was an epic failure! 😢 Im a burnette & wanted to be an Auburn but after using what my personal colorist mixed for me there was NO CHANGE 😡 Just my greys were a little red but quickly washed away. Why didnt my colorist advise me the red wouldnt show? Why not TELL ME what i need to go to Auburn or Redhead? Does anyone know how to go from brown to red and actually see it?! Ok but not at all the colour I wantedI didn't get any of the problems I was worried about after reading reviews online. (Sticky hair, hair loss...) So that was a plus as I was very worried. My issue is that the colour is nothing like the one I wanted. It's not bad but not what I wanted. The consultant called me during working hours so never got me and then decided to send the colour anyway without double checking with me. I think you should not send until you have managed to contact the customer via hone or email. Now if I want the correct colour I have to pay again when it is not my fault if the colour is not what I wanted. Not really impressedI was not really impressed with this product . It's just not for me ! It did not lift at all . However it may would deposit color on my hair that is already blonde , but I do not want to darken all my blonde . So I'm not happy with it . Not Enough ColorMy hair is thick and past my shoulders, not insanely thick but I did mention a concern about this to the colorist as we planned. Unless I use two boxes of color from the drugstore I run out resulting in a disaster. I was reassured by my colorist that there would be more than enough color. There wasn’t. I give the product 3 stars because the portion for my roots worked nicely and I loved the color. But my ends were barely saturated and therefore barely got color. I got comments from friends that the grow out/roots were less visible but that the bottom portion (essentially my entire ponytail) looked about the same. Great shine, not great colour match, messyMy hair is amazingly shiny, however my mid brown copper request has resulted in a very dark brown with no red/orange even in the sunlight :( Other point to note is how watery the mixture you put on your hair is, very messy. Help Greys day 10This color does not last! I use Lanza color safe shampoo from the salon. This is not affordable. This color last as long as box color I buy at Walgreens but twice as much. I wrote last time that I needed heavy grey coverage. You said you were going to create a formula that lasts. And it does not. Is your color only for younger people with no gray hair? Just not a fanI’ve tried it a couple of tries and I just don’t like any of the colors made. It is also a very long tedious process that I don’t look forward to. I have natural dark brown hair and when I dye it a dark brown it comes out red. Every time, even after adjustments. It just isn’t what is expected.
