Blonde with light highlitesLove the color. The highlites are perfect but it is a little harsh on my hair. In all fairness it may be because I bring the high lites to the end of each strand rather than just the roots. Roots not coveredThis was the third time that color that was sent to me to cover my roots. This time, most of the roots covered but now they are a golden blonde in which have a red tint. Just OKI really didn't like the very strong smell of the product. I'm used to using ammonia-free colors. Because my hair is somewhat fragile, I think this product might be too strong for me. Color is very natural looking. I just used it so I will see how it wears. This went wrong for meI wanted to love this hair color, but this was very disappointing to me. When I initially chose a color, I could not see a light blond available in the choices that were offered to me. I don't know why, because I know now that there IS one. I chose the lightest one in that selection, which was medium blond. It was too dark, and too red. Since I have already used it, I can't correct my color. I don't like the color, but was told that I can't change it because a new hair color will only change natural hair (not previously colored hair). I liked the idea of having "personalized" color, but did not find it very personal. The process of applying the color is the same (nerve-wracking) process I have always used with drugstore color- trying to apply it to only new growth all over, including the back of my head. Ugh. It may be less damaging than drugstore color- I can't tell. Washing it out is a little strange as it seems to be thick and gel-like, requiring that you rub it off your scalp before you use the shampoo. I have bad hair- damaged, fine and thin dishwater blond. I had hope to find help using this hair color, but did not. RatingThis is the second time ive used the product, and both times it covers well but it lesves my scalp extremely greasy and the ends are really dry. I have followed the instructions as directed and had to wash my hair two extra times to get the greasiness out. Not what I expecetedI was hoping to eliminate my 2 step process of lightening and then adding red semi permanent but with my choice of red, we needed to still continue a 2 step process. The colorist was extremely helpful and informative. She lightened my roots and then added a red color boost formula on the ends. The color boost red was much redder than the roots and the next day when my hair was fully dry, you can see the line of demarcation between the 2 shades of red. The overall boost color also didn't last more than 10 days and I only shampoo weekly and cowash every 2-3 days. No color change - at allI finally got around to try the custom color I ordered at the end of October. Even though I love the fact that the product has no ammonia smell, it did absolutely nothing for me! I followed the instructions to the t, yet I got no color change. At all. Color change flopI have had good results in the past with this company, except I never get enough conditioner for my hair length. This time I wanted to switch to a vibrant ginger for the fall/winter. I received two colors, one for my roots and one for my ends. The roots ended up a nice ginger color. However, the ends ended up almost black with a ginger tinge in certain light. AwfulThe colour was ok, but the shampoo and conditioner didn’t work. Both times I had to wash my hair several times with my own products to remove the “caked on” feeling the dye left. Very unnatural color even with my concerns noted and pictures includedI colored my hair yesterday evening and although the quality of the product is fine. My hair feels great and the instructions were clear and I followed them exactly. However, my hair is a terrible color of red red. IT looks incredibly unnatural and I'm so upset. I even sent pictures of my hair when I placed my order and indicated I was concerned that the available choices of colors I was given were not 'light', 'natural' or 'coppery' enough and thought they were too dark. Love the idea...I love the idea of the eSalon concept but, after doing my hair today... just had a revelation that I, could have done this with drug store bought hair care. I was soooo excited when I first received my box yesterday. Washed hair night before as suggested, used 2 bottles due to my long hair. After putting in the color especially made for me... noticed no difference from my previous color that I had used to dye my hair with from drug store bought. I didn’t proceed to highlight my hair because, I’m afraid that I might just ruin my hair and end up spending more money to repair my long locks. No way. Anyways, that’s just my own opinion. Like the colour but not how it left my hairHair colour was good but despite following the instructions my hair was left matty and greasy. My hair was not shiny and glossy as I would have expected because that is what I usually have from shop brought colours. I am not prepared to risk my hair condition again so am cancelling my plan especially as when I reached out to esalon I was told to make sure I massage for 2-3mins before rinsing and shampoo which I did do this time so if that is all they can offer I don't wish to use it again. I can’t get the conditioner out!!!I love the colour and the system and the ease of it being delivered etc. All of that is great, and the price isn’t bad either. However! I’ve just dyed my hair for the second time and again struggled to wash the conditioner out?! The first time I did it, about a month and s half ago, after drying my hair I had that waxy/knotty feel when you don’t quite wash the conditioner out properly, so I figured I was just a bit slack. With that in mind, this second time I rinsed like hell!! I got our, towel dried my hair... and still felt remnants! So I rinsed again. . . Still remnants!!!! And so I rinsed again and went to dry my hair to find it was so Knotty and waxy and wouldn’t dry properly and clearly still full of Product. So I went back down to the bathroom and decided i would try just washing it with my Normal Shampoo and conditioner, my boyfriend even helped!! And afterwards it felt a lot better while wet. Upon drying my hair for the second time I felt the greasy waxiness STILL in my hair!!!!! I’ve given up for the night now as it’s onky really in the ends now so I’ve plaited it and will give it another go tommorrow. But that’s three hours of my life I’ll never get back... not impressed with that. I’ve been washing and dying my hair for 10 years and have never had this problem before? I’m baffled! UnsureI just got my hair color Box I think 2 weeks ago I just colored my hair about a week ago cause I like to wait awhile in between colorings the die was very runny the color was a little more purple than I wanted it it seems to have a purple tint to it I wanted a natural red color without any blonde in it. Not happyThe color was better than expected, however, the product not so good, it was like a styling goop mixed with petroleum jelly and crazy glue for laughs. It took me 2+ hours and dawn dish detergent to wash it out. Turned to weird thick gooI tried esalon for the first time. The smell was really, really strong. Other than that, things seemed to go okay. I mixed in a plastic bowl, applied with my brush, and waited my 30 minutes. When I tried to rinse it out, I thought it was working. Then, I took the gloves off and could feel that the back of my hair felt really weird. The dye had stuck to my scalp and formed a weird goo. I had to take my fingernails and rake it off. I had to take the shampoo and scrub my head and wash my hair twice to get it out. My hair then felt very stiff, but after I put the conditioner in, it smoothed out. The color turned out fine, but I was so weirded out by the experience, I don"t know if I'd do it again. Great color - needs more than 30 minutesMy first trial turned out ok. The color was an ok match but a bit too red/warm. Also, it is critical if you are very gray to keep color on more like 45 mins instead of 30. They sent me a second color free bc mine was red and did not penetrate enough. Covered greys but wrong colorI ordered a medium ash brown and I ended up with the darkest brown nearly black. Yes it covered my greys but it was far from the expected color. You take the good with the bad pointsI have used the color for a while and it is fine. It makes my hair incredibly limp for the first day and a LOT falls out. I have tried to ask questions but about these issues but there is no way to do that. I tried the highlight kit and it torched my hair (not in a good way) . It became terribly brittle and the ends split badly. I would never use that again but I have continued to use the color because it is a good price and I have gotten good at it. The website is the worst though. Two big things that any website should have is 1. search and 2. contact us. This has neither. Anybody Home?Very disappointed in product considering price point. Sent a good photo of light blonde lavender color. Tried to match up color as best as possible. Product turned my hair burgundy, only washed twice a week and color last was very poor, leaving me with a dark brassy blonde. Sent a letter to get help along with photos to no response but happy to send me that color again for $28, would rather invest in a salon. Customer service is a high priority to me, if you can’t do that what’s the point of investing in your product. Not copper blonde- green toned light brownI had medium blonde hair with a subtle blonde baylage, and natural strawberry undertones. I wanted a dark blonde copper for fall. The color did not come out as expected, it is more of a beige light brown with green undertones (and almost no copper.) the color application was pretty even, but was also very damaging- I took 10 minutes to apply and left it on the recommended 15 minutes. I’m surprised at the unusual amount of damage for only a demi permanent. only root coloring at a lower pricethe product covers gray hair well and the time needed is good, however it is expensive and there is too much product for one coloring. I would like about half as much at half the cost, I don't need the paper hangup each time, but I do like the color remover and the vaseline like material to prevent stains on skin. do you have anything like this. Please DO NOT send me anymore hair colorsI didn't care for this product at all. Tried twice and each time color turned my hair orange. Not only that, but I explained to the person mixing colour for me that my hair pulls oranges, yet they still give me colors that turn my hair orange. SorryThe color came quickly but it wasn't quite right for me, though this is not esalon's fault. In general, I felt the product was a little difficult to use, what with first applying to the roots area, then the rest of the hair. The worst part was pouring the remaining product mixed with water over my head in the shower. I promptly got it in my eyes and had to rinse them thoroughly--my fault. Gummy and sticky hairI'm honestly mad at myself how long I used this for. The first time in 5 years I was unhappy with my color they ignored my complaint and I did not get a refund or replacement. I picked up some Garnier to attempt to fix my roots and was amazed my scalp did not sting and my hair didn't require rinsing for 20 minutes...and then over and over to get the gumminess out. Sometimes I had to use dish soap. This stuff is all I had used so I didn't know how awful it really was. RESIDUEAlthough the colour was a great match, I have washed my hair twice and have been left with dark residue all over my scalp. I am not very happy about this. I am not sure on the ingreedients of the colour mix, but it is very strong and smells like ammonia!! My normal hair colour does not contain this so I will continue to use that instead. Still not quite rightI still can’t decide if the copper tones I continue to get with this color are a result of how I am applying it, or the coloring that I received. Or maybe it’s just my hair. Whatever the case, I still can’t seem to get the results I’m looking for, which is no copper tones and more Ash tones. I really like the convenience of esalon, but I’m thinking of going back to drugstore box color or spending a bunch of money at a salon to get the color I want. Still doesn't cover the grey for too long!It did make my hair feel good and soft and the color was perfect but I am only 2 weeks out from doing the color and the greys already showing. Very hard to wash out of my hairI love my colour and have been a customer for many years, but I have to agree, I have to wash my hair several times to get the colour out, after the first wash it's all stuck together, perfectly described by another lady like "glue". It takes a few washes over the next week to get it back to normal. I persevere as I love the colour but do hope you can look at this or the instructions for taking off the colour. Matty hairAfter using your hair color kit only once I was not happy. My hair matted like it had peanutbutter in it. Then until all color product was 6 weeks old it has finally quit matting when I wash my hair. And color did NOT last two weeks on my hair. Grey was all over even in long strands. Awful smellThis is the third time I ordered and the last. The smell was awful stung my eyes, scalp was burning and very unpleasant. Contacted them to get a refund and no response. Just a sorry it happened and next time to be in a well ventilated area. No really, this isn’t my first rodeo esalon I know that. It was a horrifying experienceI’ve colored my hair at home many times. After doing everything as per the instruction I stood in my shower 40 minutes and it still would not come out of my hair.
