First-time Using eSalon -- It's OKIt's been years since I've colored my hair. I truly wanted to keep my hair as natural as possible, but grays have started to pop-up and I just couldn't take it anymore. I found eSalon's Custom Hair Color while flipping through an Allure magazine. I love the convenience of ordering online and getting it shipped right to your door. So I hopped on to eSalon and completed my profile. My hair is naturally dark mahogany and thought it would be cool to change my color up a bit. So I went with a custom color with red hues. I received my custom hair color kit fairly quickly in October. I had concerns about the permanent coloring because of the ammonia and contacted my colorist about it to see if I could go with the demi version instead. She assured me that the permanent would be best for the color to hold. A little disappointed, but she knows color better than I do so to kept the kit. I held off from actually using the kit until yesterday November 30. I have never colored my own hair before so it took some getting used to. I did exactly as instructed--only needing to use the first set. The results? I was just OK with it. I really was hoping for a noticeable change with more red and being that I chose permanent that it would do just that. Of course nothing drastic, but at least a tinge of red to show through, but I got none of that. It did cover my grays, though. I'm going to see how long the color lasts because I purchased other eSalon products to maximize the color. For now, I've held off auto-delivery until I use my second color set. Nice depth of color but it gets priceyThe first application was beautiful (likely due to the gloss add in product that was free for first time users), the second application was dull and weak, no gloss. The third application was better but not as nice as the first by far so I guess I have to have the gloss. Color and gloss cost $19.99 for the first order but now its $34.00+ I used to buy haircolor (same shade for 17 years) at $8 so this is much more costly but if I can have the look i got on the first application again it will be worth it - crossing my fingers. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. DisappointingAlthough I followed the online instructions for what I wanted in hair color and included a photo of my current blonde hair AND followed hair coloring instructions to a "T" - my hair color was darker than it's ever been in my life. I asked for strawberry medium blonde and I now have mousy brown hair with a tinge of red at the roots if you look at it in the right light. I've shampooed it several times and after a week - it has not lightened much. VERY disappointed. Left a thick grit on hairThe color came out very very dark and orange at the root. That wasn't the worst. The color this time left a thick gritty feeling to my hair. I washed it 6 times and can't get it out. I will never use it again. 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you? |
