OK hair colourCouldn't find the instructions, overpriced and gimmicky. What would improve the product, a decent TUBE not sachets of shampoo and conditioner, come on sachets are so Nigella Lawson a bit dated and patronising the audience. I don't mind a sachet when I get a freebie and frankly they haven't got much product in either. I want to submerse my hair in luxuriant conditioner after I've coloured it. Not fiddle around trying to tear off a corner of an ill conceived sachet. Plus eSalon you missed a trick in promoting your shampoo and conditioner. I love conditioners that come in hair dye products and want more and would happily buy a larger bottle if sold. Love EsalonI am in love with my hair and color since switching to Esalon. My colorists have been amazing and have always made my color perfectly I have gone from Brown, to Red to Violet and it always looks great! This color makes my gray disappear. Mixed feelingsLoved the way the product came with everything easy application but upon washing the dye turned like clay in my hair and was difficult to wash out as it coated the strand the shampoo that came with the kit wasn't nearly enough to remove whatever formed on my hair so I had to apply additional shampoo and comb through rinse then shampoo again to remove all the dye from my hair after conditioning my hair felt great. I blowed dried and flat ironed but I think I stripped my color attempting to wash it out of my hair. It covered all of my greys which is great but it isn't as vibrant as expected. Going forward I think I would like to try a lighter brown this chocolate is still a little dark. Overall it was worth the try if we can figure out why the dye got clay-like upon washing and I can get my shade right I would continue to use it the service is very convenient. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. A Surprisingly Awful ExperienceI used the Custom Hair Color a couple of times and couldn't understand why the roots were not the right color. But nevertheless, I was getting the hang of doing it myself. The last time I applied it, I had asked them to take out the red, but this time instead of being a dark brown which I hoped for, the roots were a light, mustardy, brassy brown. And what's worse is that when I applied the color this time it burned like hell! My scalp felt irritated for days afterward. Nice color, quality and easy to use.I really liked to color my hair at home with the kit that I purchased here. I had never done anything on my hair by myself. I was anxious to cover my last balayage and go back to my original color (medium to dark brown). I chose "chocolate" as my new color and considering that was my first time I really liked. I wish I could post a picture of my hair after the process. It is shiny and really soft. I have really long hair and a lot as well. The 2 bottles that I received were more than enough for coloring my full hair. (by the end I still had a 1/3 of the bottle 1 for the roots) Negative: one down side to me was the smell, it is really strong and I had to do it in the bathroom, so my eyes suffered a little bit. Honestly I didn't even do any allergy test and the product didn't hurt my skin (usually when I color my hair at the salon my scalp itches a lot). I also wish that they sent 2 wipes of color remover because I did a pretty good mess. I also had to put another pair of gloves to wash my hair (the kit comes with 2 but since I used to different colors I didn't want to mix them by using the same pair of gloves) but those are minor things.
