Don’t trust salonI’ve previously only used esalon in the past to do my roots in between appointments with my colorist. Had to adjust color a couple of times but not a big deal as it was just roots. I used a medium brown which was similar to my natural color (but much darker than the rest of my hair as I had balayage done). I Decided to take a break from highlights and spare my hairand just do a permanent over all of my hair. I found out there was an actual esalon location where they would do it for me. Great, I thought, this way I could show pictures and speak to a live person and how could anyone mess up an all over color? My colorist didn’t ask many question, I supplied a lot of information she didn’t really listen to , and started to color my hair. An hour later and my hair has gone from being light brown with highlights to black. Not a rich light to medium brown like the pictures I showed but a flat black. She told me the light in the salon was bad and it would look better outside. It did not. Everyone who saw it remarked on how bad it looked on me. I called esalon. They offered to refund my money and give me a credit for one color but basically just suggested using a color stripper from the grocery store and waiting for it to fade. They said they had no way to remedy the solution. They said they spoke to the stylist and she said it was a miscommunication even though I have pictures that say otherwise (I emailed them to friends before the appt to say is this a good reference to show the colorist). I’m very upset. I’m now going to have to get serious color correction which will be a fortune and extremely damaging to my hair. Had she told me what shade she was using I would have said, no way. Wasn't happyIAM sorry I didn't write this sooner, but when I got ur product in the mail I was so excited, so after I used it the first time, (and it had been bout two years or longer since I dyed my hair), u can understand my disapointment after I used the first bottle, so I did as the instructions said on the time u should wait in between dye jobs and I was not pleased, but I would really like to give u guys another try. I was wondering if I could maybe change my color and if I could get a complimentary bottle of my new color. I don't normally write to company's if IAM not happy with their product, but it hasn't been a good last year and a half, (my house burned down, found out my boyfriend of nine years was cheating on me, than left me on New Year's Eve), just to name a few, so I was looking forward to a little pick me up change. If u would like to check out the fire it's ( on you tube; on January 11th, 2017, at 5:30am, in washougal Washington, with 5 displaced when house burns to the ground.) New branding is awfulLet me preface this review by saying that I love esalon. I have been a customer since 2013 and I think the concept and product is amazing! In the past I had so much trouble finding a brand that worked and didn't dry out my hair or product very inconsistent results. My color is spot on every time, my hair is in great condition and I get many compliments on the color. Ok, now for my critique: I just broke into my newest color order and was shocked to see that the packaging/branding has changed. I am sorry about this but it is awful. It looks very dated, the color scheme is unattractive, and there is now a plastic sleeve that makes me think that you are not considering the environment. I am not sure what precipitated this change, I thought the previous packaging was great - very contemporary. If someone has bought the company and you can no longer use the previous branding colors/design, please redesign it. It's kind of depressing. More red than blondeThis is my first esalon order. My hair is very shiny now, which is nice. I followed as instructed and it didn't lift much, and is definitely quite red. Not what I expectedI loved the idea of salon quality hair color, with out paying the full price. The color I had picked out and the color I received was two totally different colors. It is an autumn red instead of being a copper red. It is a very beautiful color but it wasn’t the color that was shown. Also my hair feels as if I bleached it to a platinum blonde. Easier than most at home colorI like how easy the color is to apply and the lack of chemicals. My hair always feels great after coloring. However, the color fades REALLY fast! I typically wash my hair once a day so I planned to color my hair one morning and wait as long as possible to shampoo it again. Even enter waiting more than 24 hours for the color to set it still faded dramatically after the first few washes. After about 2 weeks my hair is the same color as before I colored it. Good Overall Experience, Disappointing ResultsDelivery was quicker than expected, presentation was wonderful, the box was so cute and really added to the overall feel of the product. The instructions and personalised labels were a great extra touch. I was concerned about the 2 bottles situation (I'm usually a 3-4 bottle home dye kinda' person and every new hairdresser I go to always thinks they have enough dye but has to go get more at least twice) but the bottles were super big compared to most home dye kits and the mixture wasn't super thick so it was easy to spread. The smell was stronger than most and pretty unpleasant but you never really expect hair dye to smell nice anyway. But the shampoo and conditioner smelt great - could have done with a bigger quantity for even single time use, though. I found myself using my normal conditioner too, just to cover my hair. I followed my instructions to a T, even the add water and massage leftover dye over hair and leave for 2-3 minutes. Whilst wet, the results looked promising. Unfortunately upon my hair being dry you can tell and see that it just hasn't taken to some parts very well at all despite ensuring it was covered meticulously - I have no greys either. It's a problem I encounter with a fair few hair dyes but given then "salon" nature of this one, I didn't expect to do so. Not bad for the introductory price, and I really had hoped for better results, I don't think I will be buying this on the full price subscription unless the colour really lasts and remains somewhat vibrant - but I will have to reapply and cross my fingers that it takes to the areas it did not this time around. If it had taken properly all over, I don't think I'd hesitate to have this as my go to - even if it fades (red curse) - but the red will have to last out a while for me to consider the full price subscription. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Not so great....After using this hair dye, my hair was very coarse and felt very dry. As I was getting the conditioner out that they had sent along with the hair dye, it felt as if my hair was very rough. I also lost a lot of hair in the shower which I do usually lose a little bit of hair when I wash my hair but not that much. I do not know if the hair loss was due to the product but I'm just adding it for other people's knowledge. Also, when I use a box hair dye from the store I am able to use it in my bathroom mirror with the vent on. It does stink but when I used this product from eSalon, I had to actually leave the bathroom because the smell was so strong and overpowering. I do like the color and it was effective and coloring grey hairs. But I will not reorder.
