Colour is completely wrongI normally use Garnier Olia 7.40 intense copper, and love the original colour but it fades quite quickly into light ginger. Natural colour is dark blonde. Been dying my own hair since age 14, I'm almost 28 now. Thought I'd give a "custom" colour blend a go, to see if esalon's "7.40 intense copper" could be intense for longer, and the first pack seemed like a great deal. The pictures for my natural colour / dyed colour / goal colour matched exactly what hair I have and wanted ... yet the colour turned out a hideous dark reddish brown. Did the colourist misunderstand or something? Orange dye over already ginger / dark blonde hair is not a difficult thing to achieve! Now I'm hoping it WILL fade so I won't have to strip the colour to dye my normal colour back over! The dye itself stinks so badly of ammonia it's terrifying. As soon as a little touched my hair out of the bottle it made my eyes sting and water. Consistency is exactly the level between runny and goopy that it splatters everywhere. So basically I spent about an hour crying and getting dye all over the bathroom and myself for a colour I absolutely hate and will likely have to spend extra money on fixing. I regret putting this on my head and won't be using esalon again. My store-bought box dyes have never let me down like this. Edit: all the “colour expert” can do is give me a “slightly lighter” shade of the same dye ... it’s entirely the wrong colour! Do you not understand?? I still have to bleach/strip the darker brown colour myself, after which I’ll be using my usual dye and not this. And my roots haven’t been fully covered, and are especially visible at the back where the dye sat for a shorter period of time but still longer than instructed. This is going to be a huge hassle. Great color terrible smellNot only do I love the color but I have gotten so many compliments. However the amonia odor is do strong it actually made me gag.
