Dark blond unfortunately turned orangeThere are so many great things about this company and wish i could give 5stars to eSalon. After following directions precisely with both a custom color and an eSalon highlight /light set, my dark blond hair turned nearly orange. I called eSalon and received polite and professional help over the phone listening to my problem, as well as quick action on their part sending out a toner rinse via Fedex; however obviously that couldn't really correct the damage that had been done. I wore a baseball cap for a week, used the toning rinse that eSalon sent right away but it made little if any change to damaged orange hair. I ultimately went to a salon and had a color correction done for over $100 :(. I learned a lot from this experience: that in my case (speaking for myself only), mail order color just is too risky for my highlighted/lowlighted dark blond hair with grey peeking through. If I had one color that I could easily order I'd surely have had more luck, but in my case, my hair has never looked worse sadly and I cannot risk it again. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Longtime customer Dont like the new formulaI have been using eSalon for several years,but now unsure how to proceed with this product. I am unsure about the new formula which was in my last shipment. I found the new "foam" formula a little difficult to work with. I tried another foam brand in the past and while it doesnt drip, it seems like it's harder to get it evenly spread on the roots. But my main concern with the new formula is the quality of the haircolor. This new formula left the roots lighter than usual and a bit lighter than the rest of my hair which has Never happened to me before. I have experienced a little more gray since last year and had the color adjusted by emailing eSalon colorist over a year ago. The adjustment was working out well until this new formula. I had to use the Camo Mist to help even the color. I also noticed that my scalp was a little irritated and overall this formula did not seem to last as long as before with the old formula. It's too expensive to order/color more often, so I waited for this next regular schedule shipment (also because I have mixed feelings on how to proceed) Prior to this I was disappointed that the bottles seemed to be of lower quality and had to contact customer service about that. I hope this new formula isn't another way to cut costs. The price to qualify for free shipping of eSalon haircolor has gone up, and quality seems to be going down. Before this I believe eSalon to be the best hair color, but now I am so disappointed and worried I might need to look for another brand. I noticed on other reviews that the new formula doesn't seem to be working (covering/lasting) well for those with some gray.For now mine is still minor grays, but Is the old formula going to be available, or is this new one the only choice now? I hate to leave, but not sure whether this is the best haircolor product for me. Willing to give another chance in hope of it being a matter of a change to the instructions or color. Greys not fully covered.The color is great but my greys were not fully covered. I am Filipino and my hair is strong, thick and coarse. I left it in for 40 minutes but it wasn’t long enough, I guess.
