Brassy is bad :(I wrote to my colorist, “beware I tend to get very brassy.” I am naturally a dishwater blonde, but I typically got heavy ashy blonde highlights every 6 weeks. I was very excited to try this home color service. I’ve never colored my hair from home before. I was looking forward to saving time, money AND being able to color from home during the pandemic..... The marketing of the product is fantastic and it was easy to use. Once I finished and dried my hair the color looked terrible, it is more of an dark brassy orange. When I saw a friend she asked if I’ve been washing my hair in iron water. Copper mahogany coloringI received a copper mahogany full hair color kit. The kit as a whole was awesome and had all things needed to dye your hair successfully and easily without a big mess or a face full of dye marks around your forehead and ears! However, the color I received was chosen by the coloring artist to cover up a red color I had previously dyed my hair 3 weeks prior. The color that I got from this website and that my hair became afterwards was a dull color with no intensity and the red is now starting to show up again from the middle to ends of my hair and I overall am just not a fan of the color they had Chosen as most fitting for me to use. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Goodbye, Salon! Hello, eSalon!!I have been dying my hair red for more than 25 years. I always want the same vibrant copper color that God only seems to bestow upon the lucky Irish! I have NEVER gotten that color from a box, despite trying repeatedly. Too light. Too dark. Too purple. Never that elusive fiery red. Honestly, I had a similar problem with salons until I found my recent colorist. Enter the pandemic. After two underwhelming colors from the grocery store, I tried eSalon. First custom color was close but still too dark. I almost gave up, but decided to call their colorist. I couldn’t believe I was talking to a real live human about boxed hair dye! She asked questions, listened, studied the pictures I sent. And then she sent me a newly adjusted color, for free. I just tried it today, and I am never going back to the salon. It’s perfect. Not terrible but moving onFor the $10 trial I can’t be too disappointed. I’ve been dying my hair at home for years and usually use another online subscription company. I figured I would give esalon a try for the $10 trial. My first order came damaged, I contacted customer care and was shipped a replacement and received it within a week. This was not a major concern and I was happy with the customer service. I really do like the packaging and instructions. My customized color was a bit too dark for me and was disappointing at first (I’m now getting use to it and quite like it). The major turn off and reason I won’t be continuing with the product is the horrible chemical smell. It’s summer, I have a window air conditioner in my bathroom window and could not ventilate. The really issue came when I rinsed in the shower! I followed the instructions suggesting to fill the dye bottle with water and rinse and scrub through hair for 3 minutes. I had to abort mission, as my eyes and throat began to burn and I started coughing. The chemical smell was over powering. This is something I have not experienced with other boxed dyes. Kit feedbackI am a MadisonReed lover. I switched due to their support of the Black Lives Matter Marxist group! Loved their product be can’t deal with the $$$$$ dollars they gave to this group that is destroying our country along with Antifa. Please let me know if your company gives money to this group. My first kit contained no shampoo but 2 conditioners. The ammonia fumes were way stronger than the Madison Reed product and they provide caps for processing.
