UPDATED! Not what I expected.I was super excited for my hair dye kit! I've been doing my own hair for years but wanted to try a little bit nicer of a home hair system. I was disappointed with the result a bit as I followed the directions exactly but my roots are noticeably lighter/redder than the rest of my hair. The overall color was also much more purple/cool red than orange/warm red that I was expecting. I think it looks okay ignoring the roots and I think I may be able to fix it. Fingers crossed! OKAY so they (s/o to my pal Mindy) sent me my new order and I got a color for my roots and ANOTHER for my ends and oh my god my hair looks incredible I couldn't be happier! 1000000/10 34 of 34 people found this review helpful. Best discovery of 2021!I was always nervous to buy a color and dye my hair on my own. I was sure it would be a fail. But quarantine pushed many of us out of comfort zone, including self care. I actually decided to try e-Salon after a bad experience at the salon(a so much waited visit at the salon). I have a natural color hair and needed just a touch up on the roots that went totally wrong at the salon. Ended up with cooper roots instead of natural brown and no big wish to try another salon. What caught me to sign in, was the communication with the colorist. Answered all my questions and following questions, plus all the personalized features.. felt very extra!(in a good way of course). I was nervous when i got the package. Dyed my hair on my own for the first time in my life, covered my grown roots and the cooper roots from the salon and it looker perfect. I was impressed that a person, by few pictures could choose the color better than the "specialist" that had me in front of her. E-salon was the best decision of 2021 for me! Also, discovered other great products and I like to know that i have where to ask questions when i need to. Will definitely go to salons again but not for my root touch ups. So glad I got round to trying this colour....I bought this hair colouring kit in 2020, but for a variety of reasons, l wasn't able to use it straight away. I finally used it last week and I was very pleasantly surprised. The instructions were comprehensive and the product was easy to use. I wanted a medium strawberry blonde shade and this can be hard to achieve on 'grey' hair. (Which in my case is almost white) In the past, box colours have turned out too dark & 'muddy', or too light fading to a brassy yellowish colour. Initially I was sceptical about eSalon's claims that their product was superior to those available on the high street. However I was wrong! The shade is exactly as specified & the overall colour is very even. So far, it isn't fading anything like as fast as a home colour. Plus, of course, the eSalon shade can be 'tweaked' at any time, if required. For comparison - A decent UK box colour is about a third of the price of eSalon. However eSalon is about a third of the cost of a professional colour. I have just ordered a regular subscription plan for my eSalon colour :-) 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Did you? |

Good coverage of gray hairI have been very pleased with the personalized colour I received. Because I have very short hair it would be more economical for me if they had an option for the amount of product needed. I have to dispose of at least half that’s not used. Never going back to the hairdress for colourI just did my first colour by esalon. Stuck in the Sydney lockdown (10 weeks and counting) and no end in sight. And, I was due for a colour and a cut the day that lockdown started. So I'm 16 weeks past due. The salt and pepper look is OK for men, not my preference though. I had heard so many horror stories about hair colouring so spent the first time petrified that my hair was going to fall out. It didn't! I was also able to actually "do things" while I did my hair. No more annoying conversations at the hairdresser. Saved hours of time. Saves lots and lots of dollars. AND - ended up with a much nicer colour than I ever do in the salon. eSalon contacted me before they mixed my colour and suggested something slightly different. They said it would be too dark otherwise. They were right. And it usually is too dark after a salon visit. After 16 weeks, I'd started to really like the colour that my last salon treatment had faded too. AND - ended up with my hair feeling so much nicer than it does after a salon. I've been cutting my own fringe since our lockdown started. I'll now do my own colour. And, when we are finally allowed, I will probably only go to the salon 3-4 times a year to get my layers cut in. Loving the longer look anyway. I've also told OODLES of my friends and colleagues about you - so I think that traffic is increasing to your site as we speak. Strawberry BlondeI have been trying to find a color that is close to my natural. I’m 40 and my red was starting to look dull, also natural red hair turns white earlier than other hair colors and I had what I started calling “my Rogue patch” (think X-Men). I hated going to the salon, between the cost and every colorist refusing to believe when I say a little red goes a long way when you put it over natural red hair. I would pay more than $100 just to go home and frantically start washing with dandruff shampoo to intentionally try to get the color to fade.The other fun fact about red hair is dye doesn’t stick to it as well so it fades fast; trying to touch up my roots with the same color leads to a distinct 2 tone look. Yikes. I’ve been using eSalon for a little more than a year. I bought the clips, bowl, brush, and cape and every 6-8 weeks I settle in, turn on my music, and get to work on my roots. Then I take a few very small sections here and there and go all the way down. I love it EVERY time and get a ton of compliments on it. I’m a pharmacist and once I gave an antibody test to a beautician who asked where I got my hair done. When I told her I do it myself, her exact words were “you are ******* kidding me!”. Then she apologized for swearing and said she just couldn’t believe it. It’s mostly medium blonde with maybe 1/8th copper.
