Too darkI was super excited about trying this product especially after reading all the reviews...I didn't like the smell at first...and i just kept going. I jist did my roots and liked how smooth it went on...but then i noticed it was turning really dark really fast...before the 20 mins. So I washed it out. My hair look like its black now...not brown. Even mu kids noticed. They never say anything...they kept thinking my hair was wet! Color not as expectedI just got around to using the batch of color made in Feb. It was a lot darker than I expected and brassy toned. Custom hair colorThis is my first negative review. Yet again, the light to medium shade was too dark. I can live with that. Ok, fast forward to when I rinse out the dye. I was in the shower, had rinsed until clear. At that time, I noticed a lot of suds in my hair. Spent the next 15 minutes trying to get the gunk out-no luck. After another 1/2 hr using the sprayer in the kitchen sink with my husband's help, I was still left with some gunk. I like the shampoo you send for color treated hair; could you send an extra one?I am sorry, but I have decided not to use esalon hair color on my hair anymore. The reason is because it is drying out my hair and I have to condition it more often than I did when using different semi-permanent hair color. Dull RootsUnfortunately, my root color seem lackluster in comparison to the color provided for my ends. The ends had a wonderful coppery reddish brown hue, while my roots had little copper red tones. False PromisesThere is nothing "custom" or "personal" about this product or company. You answer some questions about your hair, send in a picture and they send you the product in the mail along with a string of automated emails that are about as impersonal as you can get. You never talk to a human being and they never actually see your hair in person. Believe me-- you are better off going to a local salon where a real person can run their fingers through your hair and give you professional advice on color and other services/products. 3 of 6 people found this review helpful.
