Custom hair colorI have never used color from box at Walgreens or Target so I cannot really compare. Instructions were clear and very easy to use. Nice colour WRONG shadeI really wanted a change so deep violet purple it was to be. Only this time I knew I also wanted to try eSalon for a better colour and condition after colouring my hair. I knew I was taking a big leap from washy red to the vibrant violet purple I had picked out, but was ok with it as I'm a ex~hairdresser. Colour day arrived looks good mixing it, looks deeper when on but you can't tell when it's wet!! TADAHHHHH!!! OH! NOT the colour I'd picked out, not the lush vibrant violet purple I'd paid for but dark brown with a 'hint' of purple.....GUTTED!!! I was that disappointed I just dried my long hair and tied it up! My hubby was 'let's look then' as it was him that had treated me (paid) "I thought it was going to be purple not brown!" an that was outside in the daylight were it should have been lush and bright.....NO BROWN!!! So! What do I do now? Trust eSalon again and pay another £16-? Or go back the the dye in a box from the super market??? So eSalon......Whdt do I do now? Custom colorThe color is OK, just slightly lighter and more coppery than my usuall. It seemed to leave my hair drier than other brands; in fact my hair looked much smoother and shinier after the next washing, when I was using my usual shampoo/conditioner. I was sent one color for my roots, and another "glaze " for the rest of my hair. The instructions for the second color warned to apply below the root application so that the color didn't get too dark, although overall, both seemed to lighten my hair. I'm also concerned that the next delivery is only the color for the roots, and I don't know how long the copper glaze on the rest of my hair can be expected to last. One last thing (and since it didn't even work well, I feel silly complaining) - most commercial colors come with enough conditioner that I can use it every week nearly until it's time to color again. Not satisfiedThis was my first attempt at coloring my hair and I must say that I was not impressed. I was attempting to lighten my hair to a more natural copper red. The entire process was simple enough but the end results were not what I expected. Directions were very well written and simple to understand. Loved the pictures and how the entire kit was set up. Hair color that left my hair dryI have never had a hair color tangle my hair and make it so dry that I was forced to get it deep conditioned. The product arrived on time and after I followed the directions to a tee the entire back of my hair is red at the scalp and black on the top. Lucky for me I can cover it up because of the length of my hair. It took both bottles to cover my entire head. It took me an hour to get my hair rinsed and shampoo didn't work. My hair was left with a dry feeling, no shine, my husband complained of the smell. I will be going back to Sally's Beauty Supply next time for hair color. Being a mom, nothing is ever JUST for me...until this wonderful package arrived!First off, I honestly have no idea how I found out about this. I was on my phone on Facebook or instagram( or maybe Snapchat...? Idk.) and came across it and instantly fell in love. Read pages of reviews.. next day, my order was in! I got so excited when I read the email late that night saying my package was delivered into my mailbox earlier! So I ran to the mailbox in the dark. Obviously I was beyond happy to receive something that was literally JUST FOR ME! I had to wait a few days to actually dye my hair since I just straightened it the night before I received my product. Overall, the process was fairly easy. I only had to use one item that was not in the package, a plastic bowl to do the "dip and apply". Thanks to the protectant for my skin, I did not have to scrub like crazy to get any dye off my Face or neck. It wiped off like butter! Although my legs somehow are covered in dye splatter. But as I began to rinse and wash, I felt my hair getting thicker! There was this super thick/gross/slimy residue that was ALLLLL over. I couldn't get it out of my hair after trying so hard to scrub it out. Eventually, I gave up and squeezed in the provided shampoo which calmed me down a great bit!! I had to use my own shampoo since I didn't feel like there was enough in the packet to get all of the goo out. It definitely was gunk-free after just one round of shampooing! The conditioner made my hair so silky smooth (also used my own along with this) and feeling amazing! I cleaned my bathtub of all the splashed gunky stuff while I let the conditioner do its magic for about 3 minutes. Once completely rinsed, blow dried and straightened, I was just a bit sad when I saw the final product. I really expected my hair to turn out a bit more purple/red than brown. If you look reallll close you can maybe tell that there's a light splash of color in there but it's a lot more brown than expected. Not what you thinkWhen doing your personal review you are able to choose what color your hair is then what color you want it to be. I did just this, going about a shade lighter. Got my kit in, very nice. Colored my hair and it colored my grey as well as highlights in my hair. I did message my "stylist" to let her know it was great however not the shade I chose. She says "you can't color previously colored hair" So why is it an option to Chios your color? She says she can adjust my color to where my hair will lighten over time... A week later my highlights are showing and I'm not happy. I message my "stylist" once more and still I'm waiting for a reply.
