I'm a ConvertI dragged my feet on this for a long time. I didn't think that eSalon could offer anything that was substantially better than an off-the-shelf boxed dye. Hair color is hair color, right? Well... Yes and no. Yes, I could probably have gotten a similar color by scouring the store shelves for just the right demi-permanent shade. However, I would have had to figure out the different processing times on my roots versus my mid-lengths and ends, not to mention the inevitable disappointment when things just don't turn out as you'd hoped. I also would have to be pretty careful with my root application to avoid the dreaded "hot roots" you sometimes get when you're doing your hair at home. Having eSalon do the formulation for you is just easier. And don't we all need things to be easier right now? If you've dyed your hair recently, your first order will probably include a different formula for roots and ends -- this is crucial if you're like me and just kind of glop the formula on in spite of your best efforts at neatness. The way they formulate this makes it foolproof, and my entire head is actually the same color. Speaking of the color... My hair is a rich, warm brown, though I don't LOVE that you can only see the warmer tones in bright sunlight. Normally, I would feel disappointed and keep hunting for another shade, but not this time. I requested a change to my color, and though I haven't heard back from my colorist, I'm confident that they'll be able to tweak my shade into something a little different. Ultimately, yes, eSalon is more expensive than a boxed dye, but I think it's worth it for the convenience and customizability. There's really something to be said for being able to message an actual human being. And having a separate formula just for your roots? HorribleWorst hair Die I ever used. It’s Extremely messy. Stained my bath tub and all areas around where it splashed while washing the color off. Très déçue du résultat, très foncéBonjour, Très déçue du résultat, la couleur est beaucoup beaucoup trop foncée, j'ai pris châtain clair et j'ai l'impression d'être châtain foncé! J'avais demandé lorsque de ma commande des tons jaunes ( non oranges ni rouges), que je ne retrouve pas... Du coup maintenant, esalon, comment je ratrape ça svp ? I might be expecting too much?I have light brown hair but it pulls really red whenever I lighten it. I tried going just one shade lighter than my natural color but it kept looking brassy. I tried leaving it on longer and getting more neutralizer in the formula but it's just not what I was hoping for. Everyone thought I was trying to color my hair red when I was trying to go neutral. Very damaging!I gave eSalon a chance with 3 separate orders. The color does not cover gray, comes out patchy, and severely damaged my hair. Color is not satisfactoryI didn’t have great expectations, but the color is off, and when my roots grew out there was quite a difference in color. Because of the pandemic, I felt it best to continue with Esalon until local salons could fix my hair back to my natural color. Overall, I’m simply not pleased with the color.
