1st KIT WAS GOOD, BUT NEEDED ADJUSTMENTS...I loved the idea of having my hair color customized to ME! Especially since I can't get the color and tones I love from an off the shelf product. The first kit I got wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but understand customizing is a process. After that, things didn't go so well, but I'm not going to share the pot holes in the road just yet as there's a possibility that eSalon may recover and help me after all. If you love the idea of color in a bottle with your name on it, than you'll love this. I will say the quality of product is good. I didn't wind up with straw hair. I do believe the add on products really add up making the orders pricey. If I wanted to extra tint and highlight, I may as well go to a salon, right. I hope eSalon can make this better and work for me. And if you're not getting what you asked for, SPEAK UP, it's your money. Too orangeWith every order I have specifically stated I do not want any orange in my hair and with each order so far it has turned out orange instead of brunette. I will give it one more try and then I am giving up and going back to the salon. Jury’s still out for meThe process of applying the colour was straightforward and instructions easy to follow. The product came beautifully packaged. Initially I was pleased with the colour but felt after a few days the grey coverage of my roots faded very quickly. I asked for advice on Whether I should use the remaining root colour on my hair again but still wait on the response. I will try again on my second colour before deciding if I will continue using this service. Love the color, but I've lost so much hairThe color couldn't be more perfect and it makes me sad to have to give it up, but I've had significant hair loss from using the color and other esalon products. The first time I colored my hair I was pulling out chunks of hair and thought I'd left it on too long so it must have been my fault, so I continued to use it and every time I lose more hair. My forehead now has a noticeable line where I've lost about 1/2 inch of my hairline and my hair is noticeably thinner. DisappointingDuring lockdowns 1 and 2 I've used off the shelf colour while not being able to go to a salon. I wanted to try and lift the colour from the dark, vibrant red, closer to ginger, copper or orange that I've had at the salon. I selected a colour that should have been dark blonde/copper and put a note to say what I was aiming for, I also included photos of my current hair colour. Have just used my Esalon delivery and it is basically exactly the same colour as I already had. So I've paid 3x the price for the same result I could have had with off the shelf. All that has happened is my roots are now covered. It was also quite a complex process to apply the colour, segmenting hair, doing roots then using different colour for rest of hair, and taking the bottle into the shower. It was messy - with red dye my shower looked like a murder scene. And the dye was incredibly strongly smelling, my eyes were streaming even with a window open. And my hair now feels quite dry and doesn't have the high shine I get when it is coloured at the salon or using the off the shelf dye. Generally disappointed that something promising so much didn't deliver. Surprised!!I really like this product a lot more than I thought! I’m going on today to make my color a little darker, however this is no fault of Esalon. I had my hair highlighted before I first started this. My only concern is that this last time I did my hair I noticed some irritation burning feeling as my scalp is very sensitive. And my scalp itched from being so dry fir a couple weeks after Hoping I won’t have to stop due to this issue. But willing to try again & we’ll see with this next try. Did nothing.So I uploaded pictures of what I wanted. The esalon gal told me they would have me do a tint rinse (copper) then demi permanent THEN to order permanent hair dye a month later. I did not want to do this but I also did not want to do JUST Tint Rinse and walk around with crazy hair. Well stuff came in, I did the Tint Rinse (Copper) as esalon lady said to do. It did take out all the weird highlights and whatever madness my hair was doing, made my hair very soft. NEXT day did the Demi Permanent. LITERALLY DID NOT CHANGE MY HAIR AT ALL! NO change! So I made a new account ordered the Permanent hair in same color AND STILL NO FREAKING CHANGE! Love the idea but...Quiz/questions were okay. Packaging was cute and the kit arrived quickly. I was a little leary about the color actually being what I wanted because the color I really wanted was grayed out when it got to the final color screen on the quiz. Apparently the colorist didn’t think my hair could go that color even though it already pretty much is? So I choose the next closest color. I was even more hesitant when I saw they sent 15 volume bleach. I have natural red/strawberry blonde undertones and everyone knows redheads are hard to lift. I was again even more hesitant when I mixed the color but by this point I figured oh well, might as well just go for it....well, unfortunately it did nothing my roots didn’t lift at all and they are exactly the same color. So it looks like I will be making an appointment for the salon in a few weeks after all. Such a bummer!
