Too dark and horrible to wash outThe application process was easy enough, I enjoyed that it didn't have a strong smell and that it was pretty straight forward. That's kind of where the happiness ended. I applied the stain guard before colouring but I ended up with terrible stains around my hair line. The provided stain remover didn't do much to help. I appreciated that it was included but I'm not sure it actually helped. I usually use Vaseline as a guard and have no issues. The dye itself was miserable to get out. It was so thick, I was honestly scrapping it out of my hair and scalp on the few areas it got a little too rubbed in. Three shampoos later (including the provided shampoo which did smell lovely) and I finally feel like it's not caked in anymore. My hair feels disgusting the day after, not dry but very stringy and greasy. Almost matted. I did purchase and use the mask which probably helped. Add to all that, the color was supposed to be a dark brown, its black. It's one dimensional black. It looks terrible. I could've gone to a beauty supply store, spent $10 and had exactly what I wanted. Now... I have to pay to have my hair professionally lightened. Nice company,product not so muchI received the color and it was in a lovely box,with an additional free set so I can do my whole hair the first time around. The instructions were great, they provided two sets of gloves. The whole thing felt as pampered as an at home coloring could possibly get. I followed the instructions exactly. The issue was the actual product. The color left my hair feeling so dry, so bad, it was like chunks of straw. Even after using their conditioner I couldn't even get my fingers through it. I shampooed again, used tons of my own conditioner, and still. I ended up using a hair-mask which I left on for a few hours, and then it was somewhat manageable, but still didn't feel good. It took a few weeks for my hair to feel ok. I canceled the service, and it was easy to do,which is not always the case with companies that have you sign up for recurring orders. I like the website, the service seems to be good, and the box and instructions are actually great. I just wish the product was good for me,but it's the worse hair color I've ever used, and I've been coloring my own hair for years. I only go to a salon every 4-5th time I need to color. FrustratedI've used esalon before and loved it, but this time I got really dark coloring for my roots and lighter for the rest of my hair and I don't like how it turned out. BrassyLoved how my hair felt after coloring... the kit was great (love the strain prevent and remover and the shampoo/ conditioner). But hair came out brassy. It covered most of the gray but not all.
